Thank you. Been a follower for a while. I love how positive you are. Ray of light, so keep up the good work. Been around long enough to know it's a choice for you and it's appreciated
yes, this one was a masterpiece. i really think every single Borderlands was incredible except for 1, simply because every other game was MUCH more impressive in style, scale, and features. personally, the Pre-Sequel is my personal favorite.
“It’s cute that you all think you’re the heroes of this little adventure, but you’re not.” -Handsome Jack This was the moment when Jack called me cute and I blushed, that is all.
One of my favorite jokes in this game is when you get the voice changer to sound like Jack and Zer0 says something to the effect of "I sound like an asshole" and then he rarely talks from that point forward, and when he does he stops halfway through and just trails off because he heard his changed voice again and changed his mind xD
I don’t think people think about how great 2012 was for gaming antagonists. We saw Handsome Jack, Vaas, Hatham Kenway, Raul Menedez all in the same year.
The MVP of Borderlands 2 is without a doubt Handsome Jack. One of the best video game villains of all time, he’s an amazing villain, he’s got all the best dialogue, Dameon Clarke chews up all the scenery he can get, he’s both really funny & likeable, but also an absolute bastard to the core. In fact he’s such a good villain that they not only made a prequel centred around him, but the series as a whole kind of suffered, living in his shadow, his absence in Borderlands 3 was felt.
One thing I love about Handsome Jack is his name. It's a GREAT villain name. Apparently it was a placeholder name early in development as a reference to the Doctor Who character, Captain Jack Harkness. But the crew realized it was such a good name that it ended up sticking.
When you think about the game's story in the framing of "what makes a hero?", the title song makes a lot more sense. Pandora really isn't the place for heroes. Lilith spends half the game on a power trip and the other half on a revenge quest, Mordecai is an alcoholic game hunter, and Brick is... Brick. And our new crop of vault hunters aren't much better: an assassin who lives purely for the thrill of the hunt, a glory-hog soldier who'll let people die if it makes him look good, a mechanic and her pet muderbot, a friggin' Psycho, and Salvadore. And all of that is before you get into the 31 flavors of crazy that are Pandora's inhabitants. It's telling that the two Vault Hunters that are probably the closest to being actual good guys, Roland and Maya, get killed off pretty unceremoniously.
Playing as Zer0, you can instantly kill BNK-3R with his B0r3 skill. Shoot a spot where his autocannons spawn, then sit back and watch as his health blips out of existence.
One of my friends actually got to meet Demeon Clarke not too long ago at a convention and got him to record his voicemail message in the tone of Handsome Jack.
Oh god, i watched the original video at least 4 times, and constantly pondered if he was going to come back to remaster this, *He has made my dream come true*
I’ll say this for if and when you play through Borderlands 3, make sure to play through Tannis' side missions, and you’ll realize that Angel's last words hold a lot more weight than you might think.
Amazing video! One wonderful thing you mentioned is how they let the serious moments breathe which I think is why Roland's death is leagues more impactful than Maya's. After Roland dies, we're teleported to a safe location and are given time to stew in what just happened. No immediate action you need to take, no characters talking to undercut the moment. The weight sets in as you're looting the stockroom.
the fact that they knew we were disappointed about the ending of BL1 and not only did they make that canon they changed the end rewards to 5 red chest which 2 are guarenteed to have Gearbox Legendaries in them for the remaster of Bl1
11:18 at the end of Borderlands 1, Angel tells you the vault key won't be charged for another 200 years and that Tannis will pay you a lot of money for it, before revealing that Angel is a Hyperion satellite, indicating that Angel wanted you to open the vault for Hyperion for reasons other than loot and to sell the vault key to Tannis so that Jack and Wilhelm could torture and take the vault key from Tannis.
A desert is a place that receives rare precipitation. Which means any place that regularly receives rain is the complete opposite. It also means antarctica is a desert. So it's fully possible that the Southern shelf is a desert.
Interesting to note that Angel *usually* talks to you through her powers, not the echo. But the one of the only times she *does* talk through the Echo? It's either because Jack is *right there next to her*, when she disables the power core, or when she's talking to someone other than you.

I just realized that the psycho and bandit mask all bear Jack's blue scar (his true face)across the same spot. they're like a real living reflection of his damage and psychosis his trauma left in him. The effects of his desire to be the hero mixed with a twisted thirst for revenge left shockwaves in the lives of everyone and everything that came near Jack. Now that's power you can't buy!
I feel so stupid… for never noticing this. Amazing find. Jack becomes branded a bandit forever by Lilith and goes to show that often times we all create our own demons.
Was Anthony Burch an experienced and professional writer before BL2? Granted he did write HAWP episodes before that but it's not exactly professional work
Personally I think the opening song is the answer to 'who the hero is' aka, no one. Both sides want loot and have to kill to get it, which makes both sides guilty.

Okay, I'm gonna do the bad thing and defend the third game. If not for Handsome Jack existing, the Calypsos would actually be really good villains. If you've never played a Borderlands game I'm willing to bet that you could downright love them. Unfortunately, we've all played 2, and by extension, cannot enjoy them. I don't know why you feel the need to be rude to me, but I'm just making what feels like a very fair assumption about this game.
@@DParkerNunya they're annoying not threating and no borderlands 2 could of not existed people still wouldn't of liked the twins that not how games work people judge the game based on the game
Mr Trogue FLEXXINGTON still is one of my top favorite characters!
Somehow I never saw that you had a vid on this, what da hailllllllll. Lets go!
"If there's demand for it" give it to me, NOW!!!
I'd love to see you cover the pre-sequel
although some of the themes are a bit *much*, the story adds so much to what borderlands 2 built up and Jack's story / development makes it worth replaying
I love this game so much I always
find myself going back to it in someway the music hits so hard
YES!! All of the borderlands games pls. Tales & 3 are some of my favorite games of all time. Only dragon age comes befor them (hint: would love to see these too xD). Thanks for all your great videos.
