Excellent Captain, really explained the procedure well. Folks should be jumping on your channel. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My best to your continued success
Thanks for taking time to make these thorough DIY videos! I have a 2023 Carolina Skiff w/ a 200 Suzuki as well and these videos will help me immensely. I also just got a 2024 Honda Rubicon and found you have the 23 with DIY videos for that as well!! You da man! Thank you!
I use marine anti seize instead of grease. Also use silicon grease on the o rings, marine grease can degrade them. May be a little OCD. Good tip on the flush.
Mate that's the best detailed and best shown video on how to do stuff to your outboard! im now doing all my own services from watching your vids and saving me $$$$ thanks dude :)
Thanks for this video. And can you help us. Many people with small engines Suzuki DF20A have problems with clogged coolingchannels in this motors. We change anodes, thermostat every year, but after 8-9 seasons engines stop running. The temperature at some point rising above 80° .What can we do to solve this problem?
Thanks for this. Great video. I'm new to outboards and have taken the easy way out and had my new suzuki 115 into the shop for its last two services. Just hit the 90 hours and want to start learning what I can do myself. Anodes done thanks to you.
Nice video Cap. I caught your 100 hour vid last year. I like the backflush technique. I am thinking the orings should get plumbers silicon grease instead of marine grease. But if replacing every 2 years probably negligible difference before the oring breaks down from the grease.
Awesome job with your video. I subscribed for your fishing information and lo and behold I’m benefiting from your boat motor content!! So glad I found you!
Hi Jody..exellent content, I have a question. When you were looking at the 200's did the SS model interest you at all, I realize there are some differences I just thought to ask. Thank you for your vids!!
Excellent service videos! You are going to save me thousands over the years for the unnesessary labor charges. I am about to do my 100hr. Did you use the vice grip on the shift rod method when dropping the lower unit during your 200hr? Wondering if that was the best method to help you get the lower unit back installed?
I live in South Alabama and run charter trips all year long, so I don’t. I do trim my motor all the way down when temperatures get below freezing to prevent any trapped water from freezing in my lower unit
Thank you. I have a 2023 200 APX with its very first 100 hour service due in Sept this year. What additional work (in addition to tasks specified in OEM spec) would you suggest I get done for this service? For replacement time, What material anode do you recommend for this 2023 block - zinc or aluminium? I’m interested in that cut off switch used for the remote flush port used with hose. Can you provide more details on this cut off switch? Thank you. Cameron
I would recommend spraying the whole engine (everything under the motor cover) down with Corrosion X as in this video link. Zinc for saltwater, Home Depot for the cut off on hose. th-cam.com/video/k1VyVnPR-ok/w-d-xo.htmlsi=U5Ggd0Y3pAFsN76k
@@bayoubanditcharters hi again. I am sorry to bother you again. I’m from Australia and we do not have any ‘Home Depot’ stores. Can you possibly provide a close up photo of this cut off hose/switch you use for the flush port? I’m really keen to acquire one. Thank uou
I’m about to be the owner of my 1st Suzuki 2009 250 4stroke. 650 hours. I think it’s been regularly serviced but idk. Maybe I should open it up and look at the anodes and thermostat. Thank you
Is there any reason you couldn't flush the engine after cleaning the gunk out by just running the engine in the water instead of connecting a hose? Boat is currently in the water and no easy hose access.
That should work with the anodes out if you are in fresh water, I would not recommend doing it in saltwater to avoid saltwater flooding the engine bay and causing external rust issues. If in saltwater you could install anodes, remove thermostat, let it run for 10 minutes or so, then reinstall thermostat. If doing it this way, crap could possibly stop up tell-tell or thermostat.
Hi. Can you please confirm total number of anodes existing for this motor? I see the 5 x anodes changed out here, but what other anodes exist and where? Thanks Cameron
Soak those anodes in rydlyme overnight and it will eat the salt right off. Salt off good for maintenance but a marine de scaler will rip right through thick scale
Part number for the zinc anodes 55321-87J01

Deserves a thumbs up. Not my motor but lots of applicable advice. Thanks Bubba.

Thanks!
Thank you brother! I definitely appreciate it!
I wish I could put grease on my fingers. Can’t do it. Great video. I’m gonna watch your 100hr maintenance one next. I have a 50hp Suzuki

Great video! How you can run the water in the block with the thermostat! Did you removed previously? Thanks
The thermostat is at the very top of the motor, I'm flushing the junk out of the anode holes which are lower.
Thank you, Sir! Great job!

I really enjoy your videos I'm looking at repowering with a Suzuki greetings from NJ

Do you flush your engine regularly also after You have been running in salt water
Yes religiously! Salt-A-Way after every trip!
Do you have to winterize in La ?

2022
awesome video, is this similar process for suzuki 300 hp engines?
Yes sir!
Do you know if the part numbers and maintenance steps you take on your 200 are the same for a 2019 DF 250?
This is an outstanding video.

How many hours before we check that section?
I pull, inspect, and clean everything 100 hours. Replace when 1/2 gone.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm in the Chesapeake Bay so brackish water. Will probably just try to work out getting myself to a hose.

Hey Cap do you you salt away everytime you go in saltwater. Also what dealer do you get your bulk oil from.sir
Yes sir! L&M marine in Stockton Alabama
Thanks capt

Yea dude rydlyme 100% or squirt a whole bottle of lime away in the top hole let sit then vacuum out
And then rinse with water and vaccine out again
Did you change with zinc or aluminum?
There were no part numbers for the anodes in either video
Zinc

Thanks! Awesome DIY by the way they have been very helpful

Where do you get the 10mm 1.25 pitch thread bolt?
You can get one at any hardware store or Home Depot

Doesn’t hurt to do a freshwater flush every now and again. I’m just surprised that Suzuki made to 200 hours.
I flush with Salt-A-Way after every trip!
Just discovered an oil change costs $1000. Looks like I"m doing this myslef
Yes sir! You can do it with no problems!
Good video but please stop swaying.

I couldn’t get past your opening spill. The rocking you do while talking gave me motion sickness.
