I wished KBB would test the vehicles when loaded as intended. I believe this vehicle hybrid option loaded down with people similar to the Sienna would struggle in a highway trips.
I've driven the Sienna fully loaded with 6 adults and everyone had 5 days of luggage. Had no issue passing people on backroads, had plenty of power for daily driving.
Always love your reviews Lyn. We actually already bought one in this exact exterior and interior color combination. Why did we choose the Kia? New hybrid gas mileage, fancy inside tech, and wonderful second row premium seats which are going to be perfect for road trips!
That's a nice car that makes far more sense for families than SUVs. I just wonder how many thousands in sales that Kia missed out on by the silly name. If it was named "Trailpro" or "Ridge Runner", it would sell a lot more because it's all about image when it comes to American decisions on cars.
I would go for the gas version. The hybrid just adds parts, weight, and future expense. Unless you drive a lot of miles per year the gas savings won't pay for that.
YT Algorithm hard at work here.. never saw this channel, yet it's proposed after 35min after this is posted lol Now, I thought minivans sucked before.. but honestly, I've been using one at work for years and they're so damn practical. I'd take the gas model though, hybrids are proven hard on engines!
@@ALMX5DP ''Because hybrid engines start & stop frequently, this often results in lower engine temperatures, which in turn can create issues with water and fuel dilution. @@BladeDoomer86 @ auto start stop also exists on non-hybrids. Also like you mentioned there are solutions, and I believe one of the takeaways from EE is that it’s really a non-issue (which is further supported by the many hybrids from 20 years ago that are still on the road alongside their regular engine cousins.
It looks like you are reviewing two models. One with captain chairs and one with three seats in the second row. Which one do you find more practical? I’m going to test drive one this week
We thought the 8-seat version had more flexibility when it came to seating options. And with the captain's chairs you cannot remove them, so if you wanted to have the van exclusively for cargo that's not an option with the 7-passenger configuration!
I LOVE the amber DRLs on new cars nowadays. Kia is doing this more extensively and it needs to carry over to more Hyundai models (Only in the Ioniq 6 as far as I am aware). I really like the styling on the front end, but everything past the B pillar is pure minivan. they should have tried to integrate the door track above the body panel so it blends in with the black trim. I also think they should have a more vertical D pillar and really square off the back as much as possible like on the new Santa Fe. as far as the interior is concerned, I don't like the multi function select panel for the HVAC buttons. I hear its not as much of a problem if you are using Android Auto or Apple Carplay. the more physical buttons the better on any new car, and less piano black plastic on the interior is my preference. anything that would reflect sunlight (or headlight glare) off the dash and back in my face needs to be removed. make everything on the dash matte. I think it is funny they were afraid of a passthrough console to make it look to minivan while the newly designed Santa Fe is a crossover SUV and they included a passthrough. What is it with these super weak inverters for their AC outlets? The one in the rear seat should be at least 300 watts and they should have a dual outlet in the trunk with 2.4kw. that would make it much more useful and better competition for the Sienna that has a 2kw optional AC outlet in the trunk. make all of the USB-c outlets 100W capable while they are at it. A generator mode like on the F150 trucks would be awesome. I wish they had chosen to use a column mounted shifter like on the Santa Fe and EV9, I can't stand rotary shifters. One thing that surprises people about the Carnival is the cargo room, which is significantly better than any of the other competing minivan. it makes it easier for people adapting from a larger SUV. I like the hybrid best for the fuel economy but most people should consider it just for the standard transmission to avoid that DCT with better gas mileage just as an added bonus. biggest miss on this refresh is the lack of AWD. Ironic that Kia refuses to call this a minivan, which it clearly is (calling it an MPV) but won't option one with AWD. mind boggling. lack of AWD isn't a deal breaker for me, but would have put it in closer contention against the Sienna.
Rented a toyota sienna XLE hybrid and ill tell you what, the toyota is sooooo CHEAPLY MADE i hated the CVT transmission on the toyota. extremely under powered. everything you touch in the toyota is PLASTIC and its terrible. i would buy the kia ANYDAY.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video but the next chrysler Pacifica will be fully electric and travel 600 miles on a charge according to the current motor trend magazine cheers 😂
1.6 V4 and combined with electric motor 🤯 Those engines come in small sedans and is not appropriate for a vehicle that size. They could have given it atleast 2.5 V4 coupled with electric motor IMO.
This car looks awesome. KIA is really becoming a premium brand. If I needed all that space in a car I would definitely look to this one.
i switched from 2021 sienna to 2025 carnival hybrid. it’s been 3months with 30k miles. never regret in terms of exterior and interior and technology
Just wait until it hits 100,000 miles

I dont know who makes the best car, but i know Kia Makes the best headlight design...that amber DRL is just osssssom.
Yeah I do like the look, though often have to do a double take at dusk since the design is kinda similar to the newer F-150 Raptors DRL.
@ALMX5DP ...true, I have seen a new Sorento few days back on the highway, it stands out and grab your attention in the sea of other cars.
KIA nailed the design, just to bad we don't really have minivans here in Europe, we don't really have minivan culture ❤😅
Great video
Great work on the review, Lyn. The Mike Danger cameo and the censored puddle at the end gave me a good laugh 😅
Really well thought out vehicle. Always a treat to see the whole crew in a video.
Fantastic review Lyn! (And as for Mike, 😹😹)

“proven hard on engines” how exactly?

Is this all wheel drive?
Not AWD, no. Great question.

Are Kia’s still known to get broken into? Or has this been fixed with the newer line of cars?
If only there was this user-friendly website that you could put this exact question in in the search bar, and click *search* for results.
That has been fixed. 2022 and up have engine immobilizers.
Should review van with six or seven people onboard to get true performance real world

They need an AWD version.
This is only FWD, unfortunately not worth it if you experience a lot of heavy rain and some snow throughout the year
