I had the same thing happen, 5 betrayals at once and 2 of those had blood brothers. I'd only gone back to that map to dominate the final enemy captain before moving on to the next act in the game. The Nemesis system was becoming an annoyance up to that point but after this mass betrayal and finding out what was in store with Shadows Wars I uninstalled. My time is worth more than that.

I once had an Olog that I was really fond of, respected even. He caught me off guard during a siege right as I was about to leap from a tower into a battle. Unfortunately I wasnt prepared to fight him and forgot that he was enraged by acrobatics. He kicked my ass, broke my sword, and was promoted to war-chief. In retrospect I shoulda seen it coming, his title was the betrayer after all
I had a captain I shamed once betraying me. So I deleveled him all the way down to 1, hoping he'd become a maniac. He didn't, so I killed him. He came back though, but this time I recruited him and made him my personal bodyguard. Kinda tragic when you think about it. Nowadays all the poor guy can say is "I tried, I really did" over and over again.

After completing the shadow wars, I spent some time strengthening my fortresses and then returned to minas morgul to do a mission. Went to kill a lvl 75 epic olog, and there I was betrayed by 4 of my captians. My favorite moment in the entire game
I had a rebellion once 4 uruks at once i shadow striked one to me and others somehow got enraged and just slaughtered themselves, it happened in Seregost on that lake where you killed Tor Goroth, and after some time i came back to that lake and one more uruk betrayed me,cursed lake

I took one of my favourite uruks into the garrison when I restarted the game. His name was zuka black blade. Now this was my favourite uruk, he killed well, was a brilliant bodyguard and made me appreciate my uruks way more. Then, during a mission the coward betrayed me, saying that why should he serve me if he was the same strength (I was a level higher). So after a grueling fight, I shamed him for his crime and deranged him instantly. Now he always wonders what color his blade is, by screeching out about how it's not blue or orange, maybe purple or white. He serves me once again, but I've never felt so betrayed in my whole life

I was in my fortress in front of the door to the throne when an uruk pushed me. I thought he would get demolished until I saw the text. Instead of "Betrayal" it wrote "Treason" and I saw multiple captains around me. I activated "I AM the Senate" mode, killed most of them and shamed the 2 I wanted back. Very satisfying.
There was a time, literally after i take a Fortress, i promoted lots of uruks for their good job, after i jumped down the Fortress Tower, 6 captains at once decide to betray me, saying some shit like "unworthy" leader, or "tired of following me", but they were dumb enough to betray me inside the Fortress, so my entire army Helped me kill those captains, i let one live, to send a message to Mordor Shaming him so much until even Sauron feel bad for him. Them after that, i killed him
@@crimson4069 from my experience, it doesn't matter which side the carog fights for, every mounted orc had the ability to control carogs, so they would just fight against me even though they were blue
I only just got into the game, haven't been able to dominate anyone yet, but I thought for sure when I saw "Ultimate Betrayal" in the title the guy that got his throat slit in the beginning was going to suddenly betray you after you healed him.
This happened to me once, i think it triggers when you have dominated more than 80% of the living orcs in any given region. My reaction was to simply fight 5v1 and kill them all. Fortunately, by a small miracle, my Necromancer bodyguard had my back and made short work of them.
The only way this could be an even bigger betrayal is if they took your favorite guy as a hostage (unless that was/is your favorite, in which case, N O M E R C Y ! !)
This is one thing I like about the creatures of Middle Earth. They are slaves but they are not beasts. They are sentient, they have a mind of their own, each an unique individual just trying to survive the miserable existence they find themselves in. If I'm not mistaken, the orcs of Moria just lived there, they didn't venture outside, they were at home living their lives away from Sauron's grip.
never had that many betray me at one time, I only at the most one do that to me. But my army knows if you betray me you die, unless of course I like you than you can spend an eternity of servitude under my heel rather you betray me or not.

Killed a orc 3 times he come back with head stiched and covered in iron recruited him make him fight my personal bodyguard and he won now he its my mad bodyguard (who uses a ton the special 3 hits)

I was fighting my second overlords and had no downs left. All of a sudden an olog beats my head in and broke my sword. Later I revenge decapitated him. Then a long time after I see him with a stitched on head, so I decapitated him Again. Lo and behold he is back A THIRD time, head stitched on again. This repeated twice more so finally I recruited him and made him overlords. I never lost that fortress
A bit of necro posting but... I had an Uruk come back 5 times. He betrayed me when a clone of his blood brother died then the real blood brother betrayed me as well wtf? I was tired of fighting him in the end... After switching map he stopped coming back but his body still lays there in the Army window.

I recall the same thing in the beginning happening to me: Two of my Orcs betraying me while holding a third one hostage, and then another enemy Orc ambushed me. I revived my one loyal Orc ally and we fought the three enemy Orcs together. Two of the enemies had blood-brothers though, so after killing them, the blood-brothers attacked.....one of them was a captain I had dominated minutes earlier, and the other one was one of my oldest warchiefs. Good times.
Had 4 captains betray me on my first rebellion at the same time. 3 of them were suddenly iron willed. This was before I finished Bruz’ mission so I couldn’t super shame them.
I had a group of 3 betray me once. Was on brutal diffculty and after some hit and run tactics I managed to take them all down except one who ran. I found him, shamed him to level 1, broke his iron will, melted his brain to maniac, and put him in my garrison. He still sits at level 1 covered in poison boils muttering about his lumps.
The biggest fight I ever had in Shadows of War was fighting Bruz’s brothers, since they always attack at the same time. I kept shaming them every time I could and they always kept coming back to fight with their brother.
My advise but no guarantees to avoid betrayals. This is MY EXPERIENCE. 1) Don’t level them to your same level. Keep them 2 levels down. 1 is fine but just for reassurance 2 is best. 2) Don’t kill their blood brother. Either recruit (whether useless or not) or shame. If useless, send them to any fighting pit to die. 3) Don’t attack/hit them several/many times when they’re your ally. 4) Give some orders to them to do stuff. Not everyone but just a few or some Captains are enough. 5) Don’t die. At least, not too many times. You may respawn many times over but they’ll see that as weakness. Orks/Orcs follow strength. 6) Don’t let your fellow Captains “Bled Out”. Revive them as much as possible. 7) Try not to let too many of your Captains die. Heavy casualties shows poor leadership & that you don’t care about them. 8) Avoid running away from Captains when fighting. At least, a few or some but don’t do it too many times. They think it’s cowardice rather than it being a tactical retreat. In other words, don’t try to leave the battlefield at least. For example, you can be near the outpost/fortress but don’t go too far after you’ve encountered them. 9) Honor your death threats. Avoiding to kill a Captain that you have a death threat to will be seen as dishonor. Another cowardice act. Meaning don’t take too long to kill him. 10) Shame to help reduce betrayals. Keeps your followers in line & loyal to you. Avoid doing it too much. Do it from time to time. 11) Careful not to keep changing the Overlord. Demoting them isn’t ideal especially those who may have served longer & loyal. Same with Warchiefs.
I must have been the luckiest guy ever because in my 200+ hours of gameplay I got betrayed only once (Brutz doesn’t count) and it was because i didn’t know I killed his blood brother. Ps. I made Brutz overlord of the fort in Gorgoroth as a loyal broken servant to remind others of the consequences of betrayal.
I always thought Domination enters the mind of another and bends it to the user's will, that's what makes the Gravewalker so feared... but hey, what do I know, I'm not Warner Bros games.
I've started playing this game recently, and already the things that have happened are crazy. After the story mission to recruit Bruz, the very first captain I recruited was an Olog who was being ambushed by another captain. Not 5 minutes had elapsed before he waltzed up and betrayed me. The very next captain i recruited was the one who was ambushed him.

I found that assigning Uruk captains as bodyguards to war chiefs prevent betrayals.
Not to me, there were this one time I got betray by 2 war chiefs bodyguards
My men don’t mess with me, for a whole year I havnt seen a betrayal once I became the a Nazgul Dark Lord.
Maybe because talions beomimg a nazgul thay are afaird to betray him I haven't had a betrayal in two years since I became dark talion

I was in my fortress in front of the door to the throne when an uruk pushed me. I thought he would get demolished until I saw the text. Instead of "Betrayal" it wrote "Treason" and I saw multiple captains around me. I activated "I AM the Senate" mode, killed most of them and shamed the 2 I wanted back. Very satisfying.
There was a time, literally after i take a Fortress, i promoted lots of uruks for their good job, after i jumped down the Fortress Tower, 6 captains at once decide to betray me, saying some shit like "unworthy" leader, or "tired of following me", but they were dumb enough to betray me inside the Fortress, so my entire army Helped me kill those captains, i let one live, to send a message to Mordor

I only just got into the game, haven't been able to dominate anyone yet, but I thought for sure when I saw "Ultimate Betrayal" in the title the guy that got his throat slit in the beginning was going to suddenly betray you after you healed him.

This happened to me once, i think it triggers when you have dominated more than 80% of the living orcs in any given region.
My reaction was to simply fight 5v1 and kill them all. Fortunately, by a small miracle, my Necromancer bodyguard had my back and made short work of them.
The only way this could be an even bigger betrayal is if they took your favorite guy as a hostage (unless that was/is your favorite, in which case, N O M E R C Y ! !)
This feeling when you kill them after they betrayed you, is a good feeling

never had that many betray me at one time, I only at the most one do that to me. But my army knows if you betray me you die, unless of course I like you than you can spend an eternity of servitude under my heel rather you betray me or not.

I was fighting my second overlords and had no downs left. All of a sudden an olog beats my head in and broke my sword. Later I revenge decapitated him. Then a long time after I see him with a stitched on head, so I decapitated him Again. Lo and behold he is back A THIRD time, head stitched on again. This repeated twice more so finally I recruited him and made him overlords. I never lost that fortress
A bit of necro posting but... I had an Uruk come back 5 times. He betrayed me when a clone of his blood brother died then the real blood brother betrayed me as well wtf? I was tired of fighting him in the end... After switching map he stopped coming back but his body still lays there in the Army window.

I recall the same thing in the beginning happening to me: Two of my Orcs betraying me while holding a third one hostage, and then another enemy Orc ambushed me. I revived my one loyal Orc ally and we fought the three enemy Orcs together. Two of the enemies had blood-brothers though, so after killing them, the blood-brothers attacked.....one of them was a captain I had dominated minutes earlier, and the other one was one of my oldest warchiefs. Good times.

Had 4 captains betray me on my first rebellion at the same time. 3 of them were suddenly iron willed. This was before I finished Bruz’ mission so I couldn’t super shame them.
I had a group of 3 betray me once. Was on brutal diffculty and after some hit and run tactics I managed to take them all down except one who ran. I found him, shamed him to level 1, broke his iron will, melted his brain to maniac, and put him in my garrison. He still sits at level 1 covered in poison boils muttering about his lumps.
Fully expected the dude who you saved and told to retreat to then instantly betray you too lmao.
In one of these game I had a nemesis called Zog Elf-Slayer. He was about as immortal as I was, with immunity to melee/ranged/executions and so on.

The biggest fight I ever had in Shadows of War was fighting Bruz’s brothers, since they always attack at the same time. I kept shaming them every time I could and they always kept coming back to fight with their brother.
I had an 8 to 9 Uruk betrayal in the last area of the game. I ripped and tore until it was done. Honestly felt badass to cut them all down
This game will never not be fun
My advise but no guarantees to avoid betrayals. This is MY EXPERIENCE.
1) Don’t level them to your same level. Keep them 2 levels down. 1 is fine but just for reassurance 2 is best.
2) Don’t kill their blood brother. Either recruit (whether useless or not) or shame. If useless, send them to any fighting pit to die.
3) Don’t attack/hit them several/many times when they’re your ally.
4) Give some orders to them to do stuff. Not everyone but just a few or some Captains are enough.
5) Don’t die. At least, not too many times. You may respawn many times over but they’ll see that as weakness. Orks/Orcs follow strength.
6) Don’t let your fellow Captains “Bled Out”. Revive them as much as possible.
7) Try not to let too many of your Captains die. Heavy casualties shows poor leadership & that you don’t care about them.
8) Avoid running away from Captains when fighting. At least, a few or some but don’t do it too many times. They think it’s cowardice rather than it being a tactical retreat. In other words, don’t try to leave the battlefield at least.
For example, you can be near the outpost/fortress but don’t go too far after you’ve encountered them.
9) Honor your death threats. Avoiding to kill a Captain that you have a death threat to will be seen as dishonor. Another cowardice act. Meaning don’t take too long to kill him.
10) Shame to help reduce betrayals. Keeps your followers in line & loyal to you. Avoid doing it too much. Do it from time to time.
11) Careful not to keep changing the Overlord. Demoting them isn’t ideal especially those who may have served longer & loyal. Same with Warchiefs.
I must have been the luckiest guy ever because in my 200+ hours of gameplay I got betrayed only once (Brutz doesn’t count) and it was because i didn’t know I killed his blood brother.
Ps. I made Brutz overlord of the fort in Gorgoroth as a loyal broken servant to remind others of the consequences of betrayal.
Where you see betrayal from your soldiers, I see shiny new gear to test out while recruiting their replacements

I've started playing this game recently, and already the things that have happened are crazy. After the story mission to recruit Bruz, the very first captain I recruited was an Olog who was being ambushed by another captain. Not 5 minutes had elapsed before he waltzed up and betrayed me. The very next captain i recruited was the one who was ambushed him.
I like the checking of the first betrayer’s stats:
“Does he have iron will?”
…
“Yep, well, he was a good orc.”
That orc riding the caragor took a major dive after that first betrayal xD 8/10 for style but 4/10 on the dismount
