Running Up That Hill lyrics:
[Verse 1]
It doesn't hurt me (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
Do you want to feel how it feels? (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
Do you want to know, know that it doesn't hurt me? (Ye-yeah,
yeah, yo)
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making? (Ye-yeah,
yeah, yo)
[Pre-Chorus]
You
It's you and me
[Chorus]
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
Say, if I only could, oh
Description
Public Facing
[Verse 2]
You don't wanna hurt me (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
But see how deep the bullet lies (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
Unaware, I'm tearing you asunder (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
Oh, there is thunder in our hearts (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
Is there so much hate for the ones we love? (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
Oh, tell me, we both matter, don't we? (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
[Pre-Chorus]
You
It's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy
[Chorus]
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building (Ye-yo)
Say, if I only could, oh
[Pre-Chorus]
You (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
It's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy (Ye-yeah, yeah, yo)
[Bridge]
Oh, come on, baby (Ye-yeah)
Oh, come on, darling (Ye-yo)
Let me steal this moment from you now
Oh, come on, angel (Yeah)
Come on, come on, darling
Let's exchange the experience (Ye-oh, ooh, ooh)
[Chorus]
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems
Say, if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems
Say, if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems
[Outro]
Say, if I only could
Be running up that hill
With no problems
If I only could, be running up that hill
If I only could, be running up that hill

Surprisingly I heard Placebo’s cover before Kate’s original, back when I was in high school, maybe 2006 or 2007. Placebo had a big impact on my life, despite everyone I know disliking them. I still listen to placebo when I want to feel something nostalgic and melancholic.
Same here, I loved Placebos version! Because of them I then was introduced to the Kate Bush original.
Same. Emo memories!
Same👏
samee
same!! I love it so much more and had no idea it was a cover until just a few months ago 🤣
My mom dedicated this to me when I was going through my worst with addiction... She wished she could have switched spots with me... But mom , it made me stronger.
She's been gone 3 years now... She WAS MY ONE AND ONLY BESTEST FRIEND. . . I'd switch spots with her today just so she could see her grandson she never met.... :( I love you Mommikinz forever in my heart but you and Rose are always on my mind. Oh sorry I've also been clean going on almost a year now .. I made it out..
I am glad you made it out. She may have never seen her grandson, but we all know, and we are proud.
Bless you, I've been clean for a year now, and mom died 5 years ago. I wish she could have met the woman I've become...
abby good for u.
👌❤️🙏
This is, by far, my favorite version
The great beauty of this song (Regardless of singer) is that its call for empathy hits everyone. EVERYONE has wished to be understood better by another person.
So many relationships, both initmate, famililal, or friendships have been torn asunder because one or both parties failed to understand how much pain they inflicted on the other person.

I was trying to say something like this but your comment is so eloquent there is no point my adding anything. I love your words...Respect to you big time...Love from Ja.. My sister Louise thinks this is beautiful too. Listening and loving in Wales
yes. just yes. you managed to put up a description of that feeling
Cringe
This song makes me miss every person I've ever loved.
Same here and people who I managed to make a bond with
As a 50 year old music lover.. I can say there is room for this very intelligent cover of the wonderful Kate Bush original. Both are excellent x
I agree 110% with your assessment.
Very true
Jacqui Cryer Mushroom fryer I read somewhere recently that the lead singer got to meet Kate and she gave her approval to this cover! :D
Jacqui Cryer Mushroom fryer Pretty much the ONLY really good cover of a Kate song you're going to hear. Sadly I knew this before I found her work. I got the corrected.
absolutely, this is a great cover that gives the song a new twist as opposed to just paying homage.
I think this demonstrates how covering a song can change the emphasis and keep songs alive .
This song makes me want to put my career and my life on the
line to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania
That build up was when I first heard this song. Didn't know it had an original artist lol
+1 😆😆
I've been in love with this song since the moment I watched that promo..Sadly it has been edited out by WWE on their network
@@ambersaldana3 so true tho! man that promo and this song really goes hard together I remember when I was 10 watching this amazing match omg those times were amazing coming back from school and tuning in to raw or smackdown to see what happened good times!!🫶🏼❤️😊

If you are watching this song living in a hard time, specially in this 2020 full tragedy, just know that you are not alone. Do not give up, you are worth it, you are loved, you are not alone. I don’t know you but I just want to tell you I love you. You are worthy, you are talented and you are blessed.
Thank you.
Thank you so much lovely stranger
Thank you dude.
blessed OR NOT??
alone OR NOT?,,,,,,,,
then who blessed me,?,??
cause in sick of feeling
CURSED!!!!!!
James Kaplan you are not alone if you can type and if you can breath, you still a human who can conquer, you are so much. And you have a lot to give to this world use your talent go in a mission out of your country and then after that, you let me know how you feel.
I loved Placebo back in the day. I love their version of this song. Stranger Things 4 reminded me of their version. So haunting. I understand it's not about what I might think it is but their version has always resonated with me. Katie Bushes version is great because without that version we wouldn't have this one and without their music who knows where a lot of us would be. Thank you Stranger Things for reminding everyone why the 80s where great and showing people some great songs they might not other wise know about!!!
THIS should've been the version featured in "Stranger Things!" Not that shitty autotuned crap by Kim Petras.
@@Jacknjessie autotuned?
@@Jacknjessie Kim Petras?
I didn't even register it was Kate Bush at first, not until my brain automatically started singing the chorus and I thought 'hang on...Placebo? Eh? No wait..Kate Bush! Wow, I haven't thought about the original in years!'.
I think I've pretty much just listening to this cover since 03 lol but I love both TBH. I LOVED their covers album and still do
@@Jacknjessie the version in Stranger Things is the original, Kate Bush from 1985. No autotune since it didn’t exist yet!
It's been so wonderful to see a whole new generation fall in love with Kate Bush's classic! I've always loved both the original and this amazing cover version! Some music simply stays with you for life!
A few years ago I discovered this Placebo version not knowing it was a cover. At the time I didn’t really like (appreciate) the original because I was soo obssessed witg this meloncoly Nine Inch Nails sounding version. Fast forward to now with Stranger Things and all this 80’s appreciation, I’ve really fallen for the original and have been noticing just how much Tori Amos whom I love sound like Kate Bush. Greatness withstands the test of time for sure;) if anything gets better with time actually!
And metalica people who would otherwise never listen to them now love it
No, I hate Kate Bush's bullshit version.
that isn't a version--it's the source. it's okay to hate it but give it the credit it is due. i grew up listening to the original when it was new. i prefer placebo's version myself. now to spread total blasphemy--I prefer The Breeders version of "Happiness is a Warm Gun" to the original Beatles.
This is my favorite version. Heard it on the O.C. and now I feel sad everytime I hear it, remembering Ryan's pain and how lost he is.
That show introduced people to so many cool artists.
@@tlogank it really did!

Never would have heard of 3/4 of the artists that I listen to if it wasn’t for The OC
I found Placebo in 1996 when I first became suicidal. They helped me get through a very rough time in my life. Now my life is worse than them and I’m leaning on them once again. I hope it helps me this time too.
Been there and hope you’re okay
Hope your ok
I hope life has got better for you.
i know how you feel im there also matter of time to far this time
@@markhambleton1382 prayers for you! No matter how rough the roads get it will get better. Just remember you do matter!!
First time hear this one on Daybreakers trailer and Second the original one (Kate bush) on Stranger things. Well, both of them are friggin good
Weirdly enough, I heard this version first watching the OC. It immediately gave me goosebumps and made me choke up. Powerful stuff.
Same here
Bones for me.
Yea i heard first time from O.C as well. Such a good series and now another version in Stranger Things. 🎶🎶
The Vampire Diaries for me
I discovered so many awesome songs because of The OC. Probably the best soundtrack ever in a series.
I know this is a Kate Bush song but I have always Loved this cover by Placebo because it's so different from the original and I Love his voice as well.
It's hard to make a Kate Bush song your own because her voice is iconic of the 80's but I believe that's what they did. Just a fantastic song all round.
Same feeling, totally agreed
They really made a great cover of a great song.
This, like Johhny Cash's 'Hurt', completely changes the feeling of the song. Can't compare it to the original.
As nine inch nails said, Johnny Cash made that song his own :-)
@@rnrnnjjnj7493 I came to say this.
Spot on
Exactly in the same way I view those as different songs, I see this as it’s own thing separate from Kate Bush.
One of the best covers I've ever heard. Makes my eyes tear up every single time, dammit.
@wulfgar3000 yes it is. The original was made by Kate Bush
@wulfgar3000 The original was written and produced by Kate Bush.
Was this on daybreakers?
@wulfgar3000 Yes. It is.
"Bones" brought me here
In the end of the episode 'Judas on the pole'....... One of the best episodes of
Bones
Really love this version. I would be incapable of chosing between this one and the original. This was the first one I've heard when I was a young teen and it made me find out about Kate Bush and become a fan of hers as well
this version is so lifeless and emo
@@thischarminglovehound2376 I like emo
@@thischarminglovehound2376 not sure how you get that … I guess it’s just a matter of having to listen to all aspects of the song - lyrics, tone, and music.
@@thischarminglovehound2376 Kate Bush's version sounds like a homeschool girl on a cheap Walmart Casio keyboard.
@@LastBastian Imagine thinking you're being cool or funny with that laughably absurd comment about Kate Bush, a musical prodigy and one of the greatest, seminal and most influential artists in modern music. This band is just one of many who've covered this done and one of hundreds of artists who've been inspired by Kate Bush.
I love this song but it dangerously connects to the depression within.
ooyes it does omg uer sooo rt world should sit down hear this over over
It reaches the part of us that it's meant to, to hurt to awaken to make us remember that we are supposed to all be one. Not in religious way, but in our true way......
Very dangerously
Truth.
The song is about a couple in conflict. This 'woke' video is...eh... just a bunch of gloomy kids mouthing the words. I thought Placebo's cover was a very creative take on a great song, better than Meg's version, but this video is awful. I prefer the live version by Placebo.
What a fantastic song.
I agree.
Kristi Brown I am running and I know god won't swap..he doesn't wanna do what I do ha!!!
SI FI ;-D I hear ya!!
And original is even better. But this cover is really good...
This version is mesmerizing! Placebo really is an excellent band
this was the first version i ever heard, back in like 2001. resonated with me how great the lyrics were, the vibe. to be honest it was so far different than most music on the radio etc..
I've been a teacher for 13 years and had 8 students die. I think about all of them when I hear this song. If I could make a deal with God and get Him to swap my place for theirs, I'd be running up that hill. No problem.
James Dickson I am sorry for you.
i'm so sorry now it's been years and you did your best.
You are a beautiful man.
That would bring 4 back.
You should stay here. You sound like the sort of teacher the world needs. By being here you might have already saved more than 4....
I'm a kate Bush man fan from the UK, but OMG this is such a good cover. I'm now a Placebo fan......fantastic.
These guys are known for their amazing covers!
I love this version. Always liked this song but this version blows me away!!! So many emotions. Love placebo ❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙
Never thought anyone could take a Kate Bush song and put as much, possibly even more emotion into it than she did. a genuinely worthy cover!
Rachel hardy, but this version is a killer too
Loved Kate's version forever. I thought "Hey don't you dare try to f*ck with Kate's music" then I totally fell in love with this cover. It IS awesome, so MUCH feeling it hurts my soul, made me cry like when I lost my father. Brian is a beautiful person and this is from an old straight guy.
nagh man - that’s your nostalgic experiences + maybe this feels more masculine of a version. But Kate’s voice Cuts more deeply - the dissonance of her excited voice, dropping some very heavy lyrics and twisted melodic movement in contrast, is what is haunting.
Discovered them both too late :)
But on positive notes, Placebo uses a lot of post-industrial sound effects and not to mention these almost amateur-looking depressed people’s webcam videos :)
Just feels like sitting on the shoulder of a giant.
@@kaspartambur her voice sucks, it sounds horrible
Сравнивать солнце с его изображением смешной ты наверное картинки любишь 😂
This is a good remake. Placebo slowed it down and made it more haunting.
Nice job!
This one has such a darker tone. Feels more like a disturbed mind singing, like when someone is letting go but in a beautiful way. I can relate a lot to that.
Absolutely THE BEST VERSION of this great song. I loved the song itself when Kate Bush released it but it never had real power for me until Placebo covered it. I heard this version and it was all over. Can't wait to go explore this band's other music - hope it's just as good.
Placebo are outstanding
You will not be disappointed 🤘
You're in for a treat!
Best version is Kate Bushes. Or this wouldn't exist would it?
@@sachaqueiroz9418 Of course Kate's was first, but that doesn't automatically make it the "best." Someone's personal preference is a silly thing to argue, anyway.
The whole point of a cover song is to bring a new perspective to a song. Musicians like add their own personal touch or flare to songs they are fans of, which not only serves as an homage, but also as an artistic expression. Typically, they don't set out to make a song "better" than the original.
Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I have loved placebo since a 13 year old outcast. Turning 37 and still love them
Same, although a few years younger
Never ever thought there could be a cover of Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill that could ever come close to the original. This, I dare say, is that cover, and I am glad to be proved wrong. Truly powerful stuff
same way i feel about chris stapletons cover of mans world
Your so right. I actually had the pleasure of seeing Kate in 2014 it was immense. Best gig ever. But placebo do her song so much justice. Love it! Think she probably does to! 😀
I personally think it’s better than the original.
@Drill Run Oh my goodness. You could not be more mistaken.
@Drill Run Because the song is supposed to be sung from the perspective of someone who is NOT depressed, is not hurting so deeply. The song is supposed to be sung by someone who is genuinely caring and compassionate and stronger then the individual they are so worried about. For the singer to sound just as depressed as the person at risk? is actually totally against the intention of the original composition. And it was produced that way just to tap into the masses melancholia. To try and be trendy. Nothing to do with gender whatsoever. Kate sang it with a haunting, concerned beauty and sincerity. You've missed out.
Kate Bush led me to Placebo. Thank you Kate & Placebo. Both songs are so heart felt and emotional. Great music that moves you and makes a connection is truly Amazing. I am so grateful for both versions of this song. Each one has held different meaning through out my 48 years on this Earth. My hope is there is something always better tomorrow. You just have to hang around till it happens. Thank you TH-cam for connecting us together. We are ALL connected. Be good to your fellow people and to yourself. Peace, love and understanding.
Shot bro well said,
i actually heard this version first before kate's and when i heard the original for the 1st time it blew my mind.
Same, I heard it in Daybreakers
Me too~ This song was in Vampire Diaries
Same I heard it yearrs ago in Wearhouse 13 and I didn't know it was a cover I always thought this was the og version until ST
Saaammee
Heard this version first on Bones myself. Wife and I subsequently bought several of Placebo's CD's.
I don't think I've ever heard this version without tearing up a bit
Brilliant version. My hat off to Placebo. They created and original from an original.
This is clearly my favorite version of this song. You may like or not like Placebos Style, but you have to admit, they put a lot of personality in this song.
its just simply hauntingly beautiful
So true.
I don't want to know anyone that doesn't like Placebo's style. They're easily the best band of the past 20+ years.
Take took all the personality out of it. This is the worst version.
Now that we have an amazing Meg Myers cover, is this one by Placebo still your favorite?
What the hell is it about Placebo, growing up though school and college, when all my friends would listen to electro, trance etc (I did too) but their music just plummeted directly into my core, bringing on feelings of sadness, excitement, and confusion about my place in the world, powerful! It still hits me and brings me right back to those moments even now in 2022...
Placebo is so unique!! I didn’t know this was a cover, until the original got trendy lately..
Lol i always thought placebo was the original and honestly i prefer placebo version
I won't ever get tired of this pieces of art....
I feel this like a compression build up of thought's like a new beginning of a new journey of choice in life. All in.
First heard this song on the most gut wrenching and soul destroying scene on the series Warehouse 13. If you've watched the series you'll know what I'm talking about.
I heard this version from The Vampire Diaries. Oh Gosh if I could be a teen again and relive those nights waiting for a new TVD series 🙏
Revisiting the show on hbomax. And this song is in the first episode when stephan gets confronted by his "uncle"
Yeah TVD was the first place i heard it. Also heard it on HTGAWM and Stranger Things lol
This cover places a great emphasis on the poetry contained in the lyrics and for that reason shouldn't be ignored
It’s harrowing how we can physically press our foreheads together with the one we love, yet mentally be a million miles apart from one another.
I am always gonna love this version of this song from my favorite show The O.C.
I lost my sister to COVID/Cancer a year ago tomorrow. She was a great person, i have a weird condition that means I am in chronic pain 24/7 and can't work so i feel i am a burden to my wife, even though she would never say that, its just how i feel.
However if i could make a deal with God to swap places with my sister and be the one who has been dead for almost a year, i wouldn't because even though my life is a bit rubbish i wouldn't be without my wife or our dogs.
If anyone is out there thinking the world would be a better place without them in it, it wouldn't be, you are not alone, speak to friends, family or healthcare professionals.
Stay safe and take care.
God bless you D, gone but never forgotten.
I feel ya bud I lost my dad and a brother under 3 years… stay strong 💪🏼
I'd forgotten how amazing placebo are! Beautiful lead singer with an amazing voice and mind blowing songs. What more could you ask for? Amazing!
This is my favorite cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" out of all of them. Placebo did it so well.
Glad to see bands getting recognition even if it is a remake..placebo is🔥
Да.
This is an incredible cover.
This song is about a woman making a deal with god to trade bodies with her lover in her disire so both parts can know each other and make a deeper understaning, so they can make
alchemy with their love.
This song is a contemporary masterpiece, thank you KB.
@Drill Run Katie Bush confirmed that in an interview, it's not my interpretation, i'm just repeating what I readed in an interview by her.
First review I've seen so far that credits the great Kate Bush
oooohhhh..... nicely explained!
Such beauty, that can provoke such a dark, brooding depression.
14 years, the streak is over, the career is over. I am yet to get over this masterpiece. WMXXVI
I'm a long-distance runner and along with weed, listening to this song with my earphones, it has really CARRIED me over very long stretches where I live- to the point that I've been able to experience the runner's high multiple times. Endorphins and endocannabinoids coursing their way through my body to give me that out-of-body experience we all search for! The point is to make a deal with your mind and body to accomplish the impossible! Whether it's running, weight lifting, or just getting over a rough break in your life like a bad breakup, losing a job, or being addicted to something! It is an extremely profound song and I honestly prefer it over the original!
"So much hate for the ones we love" i understood this deeply 💔🖤
I love Kate Bush love this song, checked out this vid, this version is amazing, really heavy, and the beautiful people of all different backrounds that make it up....combined with the music, just wow, a new fan has just been created.
Amo esta canción, la original de Kate Bush, y la versión de Placebo, no sé cuántas veces me ha hecho llorar, siempre ha estado en la banda sonora de mi vida.

I never heard Kate Bush song ever. until last year. It rarely got played back then. Best Cover here!! Eat your heart out Myers Loveless n Guinesa.
One of the few covers that in my opinion just hits harder than the original....his voice just lends itself to these lyrics perfectly
I've never been a Placebo fan. No dislike or malice, just a lack of exposure, and a trip down a very different path during high school (early/mid '00s), and I needed music with caustic rage to survive my abuse and neglect and living with a chronic drunk of a father, who also became the most supremely abusive narcissist when he drank.
When this got to 00:15, I was already in tears; transported to a different place, a different world. I have never - EVER - had a track affect me quite so immediately, and I did not know why.
It sounded familiar but unfamiliar. In the end, it turns out I knew the original - by Kate Bush. It is one of my mother's favourite songs, and when those first keys played, the violence, the psychological torture, the destroyed relationships, the FEAR, the abandonment, all fell away, and for 05:01, I was that child again; whole, stable, happy, innocent, with the whole world in front of me, before it became such an unforgiving, terrifying place to be. Before I fell apart. Before I had to start picking up the wreckage of my life at age 11 to try and acting as surrogate parent to two siblings.
For those few minutes, I had a family again, and I love and hate this song for it.
Stay strong🦘
Life is like a war, a war against the demons outside and in. I'm not a good person, but I fucking refuse to be defeated by it. But some of us are better at some things than others, my father is pretty toxic, but we've cut him out of our lives and while its sad not to have what others have, I know it's not my fault. It's not yours either, you just got a broken person.
Heys ✋🏼 I got PTSD & OCD ..from childhood too..This track is novocane ………🥺
@Mischa Newman I'm sorry, it must've been very traumatic for you. Since we can't do anything about our past, it's better if we work hard for our future. Don't give up, you're not alone.
I'm getting older lol this was a hit when I was younger.gteat to hear other ppl loving placebo and there music
You have to be so disconnected from everything that's going on in this world so that you can be so connected to this song.
The amount of covers of this song and this is hands down the best one.

First heard this back in 2009 on shuffle play on iTunes while I was listening to jams with a friend on the awesome classic iPod 80GB and instantly found it hauntingly beautiful. Years later in 2018 a dear past love played the Kate Bush one. The original didn't really strike a chord and I was told that I had horrible taste and I just chuckled. Music is about moments and I vividly remember the first time I heard several of the all time favorite songs and it may not be the 'original' but we all get to accept songs according to our own lives and its randomness....
This shall be looped for this evening now that I'm here
Dude, you remember memories based on music?
I have horrible memory, but different songs bring back such vivid memories for me, I wonder if there's a name for this.
Anyways, like your comment and can relate. Someone just told me on my comment that this version is horrible and it made me laugh. This version was all I knew and Placebo was in my headphones for a good phase in life.
I love this version. The eerie feel is something special.
This song, along with so many other 80s hits, should never have been forgotten. I'm glad to have listened to this masterpiece for years before even watching Stranger Things 4, which is yet another masterpiece. Generational collide, I love it!

There are so many covers of this song. Just because you didn’t know the song doesn’t mean it was forgotten. I heard this song for the first time 4 years ago, after hearing the covers from William Control and First Aid Kit.
Well put! Both version are important and now Stranger Things paying homage and applying a song to film with brilliance just like breaking bad and many other film classics
ooo thx I dont think I knew about william controls cover!!
Wow, this is fantastic. Really good cover. I love how he is articulating each lyric so clearly.
Placebos version is pure poetry!
bc it's emo?
I watched them perform it live yesterday they cruuuushed it, I'm still pumped.
jealous!
I love this video. People in the state of being where whatever the circumstances, they feel and intend to communicate as much though in all likelihood their message will fall on deaf ears.
The world doesn't have to be all riffs and wise cracks. Let some of us be serious every now and then, please.
+TheEnviousdominous it makes you feel connected to the larger scheme of things
+TheEnviousdominous Well said :/
+bookofthedamned All exists to be exploited. 'Tis the Nature of Things.
thank you. I'm sarcastic and cynical as all hell, but you're dead one in this instance!
It seems they're all in confessional moments... the video angles and quality suggesting everything from blog diaries to cam-prostitution. Seems that no matter the damage we do to ourselves or the damage done to us by the world, in sharing our story we gain some power over it... some measure of comfort in baring our humanity. somewhere in there is like they don't want to be on camera, so the filming stops being a tool for the narcissist and becomes very personal.
There are songs you instantly know you like. Ones you instantly know you love. Then the weird ones that creep into you... Ones you're ambivalent towards, maybe even dislike, at first, but then... You listen again, anyways. And it starts to grow on you. Then grow even more, & you listen again and again, until its one of your very favorite songs. This was one of those, for me.
I'm late, but very well put.
If someone says to me,whats the best cover version of any song you've ever heard, this is it! Phenomenal 🔥
This video is so unique and beautiful to me. So many different people but feelings unite them. This is one of the songs that can make you cry, but you come back to them cause they make you feel.
Damn this brings back memories of some youthful, but rough days...
Can anyone hear this version and not get goosebumps? Masterpiece!
I've never heard this song it's Fascinating.
@@patiorio1538 listen to original it's better than this
@@pn2980 Not hating on the original Artist-Kate bush , in my opinion this version is far more superior.
@@adrianguillen9173 The 2 versions are absolutely magnificent!
This is a bloody awful version of this song. Listen to the original by Kate Bush, absolutely phenomenal. This gets everything wrong, the pace, the power, the mystery, and the classical subtleties, all garnished with his horrible nasally voice, and the unnecessary fluff in the background…. bleargghhh. No wonder their popularity was short lived.
I loved the original Kate Bush version as a teenager... Fell in love more with the Placebo version as an adult... I still listen to both versions a few times a month even after all of these years. Amazing how Stranger Things re-popularized this classic...
This is the version I know and love for so many years now. It's stunning and haunting.
Depression is living in the past, anxiety is living in the future.
Since life nowdays is both depressing and anxiety inducing, we can conclude that those who have both actually live in the present.
True
@@zoltankohl8059 are you living your life?
Well put, I would however contend that depression can also be living stuck in the present moment, esp. if it's perceived as a shitty moment/situation. Depression is in a sense not being able to see anything worth while in the future.
Yep. Like you can project into either one, unawares.
first heard on tvd and I'm in love with it
i REALLY REALLY REALLY love the way this video was shot..,.the lighting the melancholy vibe and how they kinda look sad...so raw... ordinary people with a camera lipping the words yet its so masterfully done...this is art
They held a competition to see who to feature in their video, then they couldnt decide whome to use because they were all so artfully done, raw, true.....
This is the time when simplicity can create an amazing clip for a great song. Emotions explode like fireworks !
This song permeates your soul, uncovering certain feelings, forcing them to the surface. Then they sit there uncovered, like an unhealed wound or a raw nerve.
And then you sit there... just hoping and waiting for the pain to subside from a sharp tear to a dull ache.
I've had this song on repeat for about two weeks. It's funny how someone else's actions can make you feel so alone..
@@amandapanda2272 ,
So absolutely true. It is inconceivable how one minute you are a strong, independent, stand tall and stride forth person... And then you decide to open your life and share your heart, spirit, mind, and soul with them, thinking you have finally found a fellow companion to travel with on your journey. Then in another minute, you find yourself absolutely devastated, feeling as if your entire life has been changed into a never desolate, cold landscape of emotions. All because that person no longer wants to be a part of your journey anymore.
I adore the original Kate Bush song. Placebo has done a fantastic job at a reinterpretation of it. Haunting!
After the Kate Bush's original, this is the best version. BY FAR. It's the first version of 'Running up that hill' I ever listened to, over 15 years ago and it's tops all of the other ones.
Makes me feel like the world is mine. It's ours. Like there's hope and promise for weirdos like me.
Placebo keep making good music please! Remember this?
Same. This is the version I know of the song. Just found out about the OG.
Try Joe Budden ft Ransom , Make a deal, its nice too q
It doesn't top the original, but I agree that it's the best remake.
I can't agree. It's too slow and make me wanna cut myself. Haha Within Temptation and Meg Myers both separately did it better.
I’ve always preferred Meg Myers’ 2019 cover of the song. I never got into Placebo.
Def the best version
