As we hit shots with the Rapsodo MLM vs the UNEEKOR EYE XO Indoor I was very impressed how close data points like Balls Speed, Club Speed, and Distance were. Rapsodo MLM Setup
Learn how to setup the Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor before your first use. You should make sure that you have fully charged the unit before using it. The light should be amber when charging, it should turn off completely when fully charged.
Press the power button on the side, it will go from red to blue when it is connected.
The Bluetooth connection should be enabled on the MLM, and you should allow Bluetooth connection through your iPhone settings.
Go to Profile, you will see an inscription that says “Not Connected”, if you click on that, MLM will show up under available devices.
Then select “Play”, and “Practice”. The LED should turn green here.
To confirm location use only 1 finger to move the location around and 2 fingers to navigate the direction.
You do not need to open your phone camera, once you hit play and then practice, you will see that the camera will open within the app. Allowing camera and microphone access is necessary, you can also check that in your iPhone settings. Type “MLM” in the search bar in your iPhone settings to check that.
Red target line should be in line with the ball and the end of the target. MLM must see you and the ball in the frame to be able to see the ball flight. Please use the ball area and the golfer area as a guide.

Also have been using one this year. It's a fantastic addition to driving range practices- being able to set a pin at any distance and shoot for it is a really nice feature. You can also easily share a good hit to social media and get some "way to go's" from your friends and family- a nice touch if you're just starting off and improving. But Mike is right, you often need to set it in bag shade as it is prone to overheating. Also, it drains your device battery unbelievably fast, so always bring a full phone charge to the range if you plan to use your device the rest of the day, such as on the course with a scoring app. Wasn't surprised Jay that your phone was suddenly short on power! Final issue for me is they advertise the ability to waggle your club in front of the camera and the system should recognize your next club, but that has never worked for me. Still, for the $425 price you're giving to people (or anyone looking for a used one) I have been very happy with mine.
In their defense, I started with a pretty low battery it was in the evening so full day of use. But a few have said it can drain battery. Definitely seems like a decent value for the price but like many lower cost units it can have some setbacks. Looking forward to continuing to test it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video again Jay, I have a rapsodo and I believe the iron distance is set to carry by default and for woods it has a setting where you can select carry or total. The fact that the ballspeed is so close to many of the higher end ones makes me feel confident i selected the right device for what i need.
The one major drawback with this unit is when you use it outside, the temperature can really cause havoc with the phone temp and can over heat easily in direct sun.
Thanks, Alex! I agree the ball speed is incredibly close if not exact. I have heard of the overheat outside in the sun. I was thinking maybe just a golf umbrella or something to keep it in the shade on a hot day might be worth it. iPhones tend to hit that overheat so easy in the sun. Go to settings in profile and app settings you can turn on carry or total distance it is nice and makes a huge difference on woods and driver but also irons and all clubs
Have had one for 6 months or so. Lighting for mine seemed to have a big impact. Also, I find it's a great tool for feedback mostly on the ball speed. If i mis-hit it gives me a good indication of that impact of that shot. I have had good gaping sessions with it. Wish I had another foot or so of flight indoors. Also, using on the driving range it fun, the kids love the shot tracer, but the unit is prone to crashing and that is my one annoying thing and overheat outside as well if you don't keep in in the shade of your bag.

I think this is the perfect addition to my outdoor range sessions. I’d like to see carry vs total, but just mapping out my bag with total distance will be beneficial, and recording data for averages will be invaluable. I’ll check back in a couple months and let you know how it goes.

Well, that actually would not be an exact comparison since MLM is not taking into account spin axis. Rather it is giving the launch direction and distance is flew. I did list off the launch direction comparison at the end of the video which would be a direct comparison. I will still see if I can do a dispersion comparison regardless. It would be similar to comparison LA but EYE XO would have the end result post spin axis flight vs MLM straight LA flight. Would be pretty easy to show the 2 dispersion graphics. This may sound like a dumb question, but why can’t Rapsodo be paired with a simulator program? Kind of similar to the Garmin launch monitor at around the same price point
Think distance is carry for ions and you can select carry or total for driver. I’ve had this since launch a few years ago and it’s got lots of issues with overheating phone, draining phone batteries and lots of missed shots based on lighting. Both indoors and outdoors. It needs proper lighting indoors or it can’t pick up the ball. Outdoor can affect it if the sun is glaring. However, outdoor data is very good and in line with others i tried. I was part of the beta testing group when the net mode was being worked on. I fed them files from my QED to compare shot by shot data. It got very good when it works indoors. I wonder if the differences in distances are due to spin where it likely is estimating spin for calculating things.

If your launch angle is lower on the Rapsodo would that account for the distance difference?

Nice video, I’ve had the unit for about 8 months and it’s pretty accurate outdoors except for driver. The accuracy tends to fall off once you get to that club. Also just a tip, you can swipe over on each shot in a session if you want to get the swing video for that specific shot and also delete a shot if it was a misread or a mishit and you don’t want it to impact your averages. I’m hoping they add e6 compatibly soon, similar to the Garmin R10, maybe you can ask them about their plans for that?
Also the default setting for every club is carry distance, you can change the distance number for woods to show total or carry distance in the settings, but I wish you could see both numbers at all times
@@JeremyConn27 I don't think it will ever connect to sim software due to no spin axis data. I do plan on doing a driver test soon, I just didn't want the unboxing and first look video to get too long. Thanks for commenting and watching!
@@GolfSimulatorVideos I would assume they have some estimated spin number that they use in their distance algorithm. I remember hearing that it could be an additional parameter added in the premium subscription down the road, but not sure if that’s still in the works. Garmin has stated that their spin number is calculated as well, correct?
@@JeremyConn27 yes R10 is calculated and not read at all. I'm not sure if this unit has enough data to calculate a spin axis number or not.
Do they have an update on android devices? I don't own any Apple products and I would think a lot of other people do not also.

Rapsodo should be carry distances for irons. Also looks like it has a hard time calculating spin so the carry numbers are off. Ball Speed, Launch and Spin are primary numbers in calculating carry distance
Yeah the ball speed was spot on basically. But launch angle a little low probably 1 degree on avg. so distance was close but probably averaged 2-4 yards difference. Pretty decent margin indoor for $425 with swing video, trace, and other features. I wonder if they will dial it in more for indoor. I want to also try it with more light to see if that will help.
Looking at the various demos I have not seen one using the IPAD. Would like to see before buying.

It does nothing extra compared to Swing caddy 2 or 3. 2 is 250$ cheaper than this one and you don't even need your phone. You could put your phone to any angle to record your shot while practicing while swing caddy tells you your numbers. I thought this one showed the club path and the ball flight because of the price they ask for...
I appreciate all opinions, Uraz but I think the sync with video, trace, and data is a big value. It is all combined in a digital format with cloud backup where you can share or work with a group of coaches just to mention a few of the big differences. Now, don't get me wrong everyone sees value differently. I just think personally, it stands apart with some of those features. Thanks for watching!
Bought one had it for a month found it cumbersome, impossible to use while golfing or on range, much harder to set up quickly then others, the read club camera never worked properly, unstable with larger iPhone especially when you have to bend over to physically change clubs like driver or 3 wood as it will not read it on camera even if you can get that to work ever.
Definitely has potential but this design and interface is just ok at best.
