    Bought one of these 10x8.5 x5 and here is what I found:
    - Assembly: Instructions where not included in the box and you have to download them
    - They changed the pipe design so the kit comes with a few less pipes. However, they did not update the assemble directions, “what is in the box’, or even notify the user the design was changed. (Because of this I thought I was missing parts and had to call support before I got in to putting it together and then had to figuring out the changes).
    - Putting the one-piece enclosure on was a little tricky. Getting the orientation right slowed it down a little bit. I think this could have been solved with a few labels on the kit ( top right back, top left back, etc…
    After assembly,
    - Enclosure looks good, it was great not having to cut pipes, Bounce back is a non issue, and the screen being offset is nice. Assembly could have been easier with a few simple refinement as noted above. This is a 1500 product and details matter.
    Cons…
    -Screen: not sure it is as high quality as Carl’s Premium. I was told that it was but it seems the weave could be tighter and picture crisper. Would appreciate other’s thoughts on this.
    - The Screen also has a ripple at the bottom 1/2 like if you threw a stone in water. I tightened as much as possible and waiting for support to advise. I have to say, that I am not happy about this at all. Yes it helps bounce back but it hurts the image quality. I am really hoping they can solve this.
    - Generally I think this industry could be much better at serving the customer with information after sale. Like … recommended projectors or link to the projector tools, best recommended resolution settings for the size screen you just bought for a full screen experience or other. Maybe general guides for setting up a DYI sim with wiring ideas, options etc… Like Crutchfeild does when you buy from them. Creating quality documentation and proactive guidance to the user for best possible experience with a product goes a long way.
    Hope that helps…

      Hasn't that always been the case? Husband "just going to play a round with the guys today" Shows up, $8 bucket of balls, $58 for 18 with cart, proceeds to buy drinks.... tips well (let's hope) $40, bets his buddy he can beat him $50.....better get a sleeve of Pro V1's it's time to go low $13.... time for lunch... $15..... Shots, why not... $25.... Gotta get a shirt in the pro-shop you have never been to...$78..... Don't forget dinner and to pay skins haha... Spends like $400 in 5 hours LOL I am not saying this is cheap by any means, but golf is not a cheap sport that is for sure, many find this price affordable to continue to play the game during winter months, heck that guys golf day above covers like 15% of it haha :) Just an FYI though seriously, you can get a Garmin R10 for $599, hit into a net with an iPhone and still have some great fun. As you get addicted and want more accurate results you continue to spend more and more, it is just nature of the space. Thanks for watching!!

    Nice video. There really is a lack of complete DIY simulator instructions out there. I just completed building my own DIY simulator and it literally took weeks of research on each component of the build. Everything from the impact screen, frame, projector, and the mats. My objective was to build the nicest enclosure for the least amount of money. I see lots of people out there showing off pretty janky setups, but my setup is very close to what you showed and I can verify that the Optoma gt1080hdr projector is a great value. Keep up the great work!

I think when I do mine, I'll try to pull the lay the screen quite taut and then have some memory foam or (enclosed drywall insulation???) as a backer so the ball does not spring back at me. Not sure if this will reduce the life of the screen or not, but the less wrinkles the better I think.

    Hi,Jay, this is indeed a great design. I have a few questions that I need your help to answer. First, do I need ribs on the top of the screen? I am worried about whether the middle position of the upper part of the screen falls due to the weight. Second, when using a 56-degree wedge, does the ball rebound severely after hitting the top of the screen? Will it bounce back to myself on the golfmet?

    • @GolfSimulatorVideos
      @GolfSimulatorVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure what you mean by ribs, this is an all-in one package. Come with everything you need as you saw me assemble, no need for any modifications. I have tested all my clubs so far and the bounceback is very minimal as you can see here. Those were full blown 9 irons! :)

    • @GolfSimulatorVideos

    This is awesome. Thanks a bunch for doing this video. Do you know if the "level and flat" requirement is super explicit with the Mevo + ? My garage floor slopes down from the house towards the large garage fold-up doors. So it is "level" side to side, but it angles upwards (if hitting towards interior of house, and downwards if hitting towards the garage doors) so it wouldn't be level that direction but would be "flat". If that makes any sense. ;-) Thanks again!

  • @AaronGorin
    @AaronGorin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Jay,
    I’m assuming the optimum location for a ceiling mounted projector would be over the top of the ball, correct? This would pretty much guarantee there will be no flop shots that could hit the projector. In the typical short indoor set up for the mevo plus that would mean a throw distance of 8 feet which is why A short throw projector would be ideal.
    But, in my garage, I need to have the mevo+ set up at 19 feet from screen. (this is because of the three car garage set up. I will need to move two cars out onto the driveway. The third space is open. In order to prevent having to set up and calibrate the mevo plus each time we use it (thereby allowing both cars to be parked in the garage) I will need to have it in the open third garage bay. But, this is about 19 feet from the screen. )
    Since the ball needs to be 8 feet from the mevo plus that means it will be 11 feet from the screen.
    My question then is-
    Will a short throw projector still work with 11 feet of throw distance or do I need a regular projector?
    Thx in advance

    • @GolfSimulatorVideos
      @GolfSimulatorVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes but many are just in front or behind depending on throw and screen size etc. Plug in your numbers with a throw ratio of your projector at the pro calculator on projectorcentral.com. That will tell you exactly where it needs to be for your screen size etc.

      It would be for me. If I teed up too high on a drive I could definitely have a miss hit that could make it a victim. I've had a driving net set up in my garage for years now and have many drywall, dents in random areas. I just recently set up a SkyTrak simulator. I have my short throw projector in a box that I made and covered with turf that was far cheaper than the metal one that was for sale. I'm in the process of setting up a spotlight for the ball cuz some people say that helps for more accuratings readings for the sky track. So far, I haven't had it adjusted accurately and the miss hits were far more extreme than they should have been. I've also had good hits that have read bad. I have a 15 ft wide impact panel with blackout curtains behind it and no side protection. I'm close enough to the screen, to where I can use a 60° and not hit the ceiling. The trick I'm having with the projector on the floor is getting proper center alignment for optical play in conjunction with my surroundings. It's set up slightly out of skew.

Questions: 1: how ya are your garage ceiling and do you have a normal garage door opener or a side wall mount yes opener? 2: looks fine with most all clubs however how is it hitting say a full 60 degree wedge with the projector there? 3: for the price… would you prefer the sky track or flight-scope? I like that the flight scope comes with E6? My main goal is to work on the range, course play and occasionally online tournaments. Just have to convince the wife I need THIS!

      This is a side garage door opening. Wedges actually are find as long as you are not too far away and not intentionally launching high which no reason to in a sim environment. Feel free to email me and I can provide you information various items.

      You just can get an Apple lightning or USB-C dongle to HDMI very simple. It is all about if you have the space and proper setup for Mevo+. Watch my Which One You Should buy video.

    Hi Jay, can you show exactly how you mounted the projector to the frame?

      Bolted it direct to the pipe. I suggest ceiling mounting if you can but this is an ok solution.

      Most sim builds are only 9ft-10ft tall ceilings so it is not necessary to go 12 unless you just want to. Thanks for watching!

      I did my build with 9 1/2 foot ceilings. I'm not that tall though (5 11).

    What did you mean by 12 degrees for full simulation golf vs 17 degrees? Thanks

      The tilt of the Mevo+. If you are using that launch monitor it sits at 12 degrees for simulation with putting. 17 degrees for FS golf and other full shot software. Thanks for watching

    I have that same projector. How didbyou get it to work with a universal mount? Mine has a weird 3 screw configuration and I can't seem to manipulate the arms to fit.

      I was able to get mine to work. Not sure maybe you got a different mount?
