They're all pretty strong films for sure. I simply love them all together and hard to decide which one I truly love. If I have to pick one, I have to say Toy Story 1. It was a straightforward story and lesson that ran deep and hit hard. The dark and light side of toys being literally next door to each other. It was a world really showing the life of a Toy and how much Woody's world changed in an instant when Buzz comes along. Especially Pizza Planet and outside of the house. It becomes more and more clear how out of place/"outdated" He really is. And hurts more when he confesses this to Buzz when both finally hit their low point. Toy Story 2 was pretty close though. Because not everything lasts and the things old can be pretty valuable as time goes by. You can cash in on it, display it, or use it till it time to let go. And that it's not necessarily have to grim fate. Woody has a trip to memory of his toy line's golden years. And almost gives into to be at the museum to be immortalized as a legacy of kids around the world than just one: his personal kid. To be stolen out of your childhood for glory can be a nasty fate one could later regret. The things we love that will grow out of or just simply expire its use, doesn't have to mean now it's all over and it was all just a phase. They'll be remembered as one of the significant and fond memories made with throughout our lifetime. Holding a personal legacy, A history you alone hold, Having sentimental value than what they appear to be compare to others like friends or family seeing it nothing more but pieces of junk. It was a strong hitoff. Toy Story 3 was a very strong moment when it was time to say goodbye. And a lot of us growing with them actually did get old and recently graduated out of school, moving onward to adulthood like Andy. It's a realization that we don't need the things we used to need in our childhood. But it reminds the message that letting go doesn't me we truly forget them in the end. We'll always have them around inside our minds.. and hearts. Cause our inner kid never truly goes away. And Toy Story 4 was it's own thing and it was great. Finding purpose after years of doing the same thing. Feeling pushed the sidelines and nothing to do with your life, what now? Not to mention the love of your life is out there. And Woody sees an opportunity to get her back... but possibly not in the way he could imagined. Woody's purpose was the big thing in this movie and the newer toys complemented that. How most of them desires to be with a kid and be played with. Have the memories Woody has throughly enjoyed in his life. He gives a piece of himself onto others to impart to so they can make it happen. (Even literally.) Woody knows his role with Bonnie is becoming clear he is no longer needed. So he realizes that the more he spent time with Bo, the more he couldn't take a chance to lose her again. So in the end, He steps in the new world to join her. And like Andy, He turns back and says goodbye to all those he befriended along the way and that they're always be with him. His inner voice telling him they're always be together in memory for infinity and beyond.
Toy Story 1 will always be my favorite. I still think it has the tightest script of all of them and great humor, though admittedly my choice is motivated mostly by nostalgia.
he wasn't very involved in the (what we can assume) final movie and he kinda came off as stupid. he didnt have much/if any character arch at all and just seemed somewhat there for the sake of giving buzz screen time. yeah the movie was about woody and HIS progression as a character, (and i love my man woody so im not complaining about the movie revolving around him) but it felt like very little effort was put in to giving him a comfortable resolution and end to the franchise. but i still love the movie anyway haha
@@vivalabowtie8346 he did have that whole inner voice arch which might help him become a better leader now that woody is gone, but i will agree that Buzz felt really dumb in the movie like they lowered his IQ
@@WednesdayWorks I'm fairly certain that it was intentional. There was an obvious woke SJW slant in this movie, in that it set loyalty to "what people tell you, you should be", against loyalty to going against the grain. Buzz was programmed to say the things his voice box says, and so by him listening to his recordings as a means of making his decisions, it indicated that he lives within the "confines" of "what other people say he can be". His role in the movie was literally just to reinforce that point.
@@redraptorwrites6778 naaah, there's somethings still missing, like Andy's father can be a huge plot drive + him having a kid, buzz and the crew learning to cope without Woody and humans finding out toys are alive
Buzz in the first movie: I AM NOT A TOY I AM A SPACE RANGER Buzz in the second and third movie: I will always be there for Andy and my friends and I know what I'm meant to do Buzz in the fourth movie: bUTtON TeLl mE WHat tO DoOOo!
Can you blame her? She is really young, how could she remember such a promise and hold it in high regard? And Woody is a male toy. It makes sense that he wouldn't be used as much by Bonnie compared to Jessie. I think it's to do with gender identification.
Storylover but andy was was playing with female characters bo Jessie and mrs potatoe head plus Bonnie played with buzz mr potato head and other characters that were male
As CinemaSins once said, “And just in case you didn’t think taking away her supplies was enough, let’s remind the audience that even 6-year-old assholes have to be eating an apple.”
Me personally I would much rather prefer to leave these characters rest in peace and instead make a TV series about Woddy, Jessie and Bullseye, which they almost did but they left it behind in favour of the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command show. And speaking of that I would really like the BLOSC show to live again in any form possible.
So here’s how I see it: being a kid’s toy is like your job or purpose in life, and becoming a lost toy and accepting it is kind of like retirement or letting go
Except... he didn't retire... he found a new way to help kids be happy... giving lost toys new homes. He still fulfills his purpose... just differently. None of the other people will ever be his Andy... Andy is his partner... but he still needs to make kids happy without needing a new partner.
These are all good ways to view this... However, I still think that Woody's epiphany here was too sudden. This was something that I thought should take about two movies or more to build up to, not just one abruptly.
I have to agree with you here. I will also add that Bonnie's sudden disinterest in Woody completely undermines Andy's sacrifice of giving Woody up in the first place. Toy Story 3 ends on a bittersweet note, Andy has to let go of his attachment to Woody, but it's so a new child can have him and it hard not to feel like this sacrifice is for nothing.
@@cynderot0275 ya. Why is everyone ignoring that? People say it makes sense that Boonie loses interest in Woody since kis change their minds a lot but there's no way she'd only lose interest in him. She would definitely lose interest in Hamm or the three aliens before losing interest in him

@@Marniv2002 How ? In the movie it's been a couple of years since Bonnie got Woody from Andy (she was in pre school at that time) and now she's starting kindergarten, so that's long enough to start losing interest in Woody (as Bonnie first got him when she was a toddler).
@@Bee-of9uu nah there's no reason why someone would like a damn spork over a real toy. It was just a stupid way to create drama for a movie that shouldn't have been made
@@nickvliet4614 there was... Because she did it in a place where she felt alone and with none of her toys, which meant a higher emotional value for her. Honestly you can expect that of a kid
Andy literally told her that he loved woody and that he wanted her to take care of him and she treated him like crap and picked some spork with a googly eye instead, I hope Andy came over there and put the girl in the oven for the way she treated his childhood toy.
Bonny was terrorizing the stupid thing too. She took it out of where it wanted to be, and everybody was forcing it to be a toy instead of a piece of trash like it wanted.
I understand her not keeping the promise with Andy as she’s a young child, I understand her choosing Jessie over woody as she’s a girl. But what don’t understand is how she showed so much love and affection to woody in the third movie but didn’t care about him in the fourth. She might not necessarily love him but she doesn’t even acknowledge him after him being one of her favourite toys in the third movie. Just confusing to me
@The StyleDocks I don’t have a problem with woody leaving the gang he wasn’t being played with kept in closets being picked over a spork his badge would be taken away and what he wanted more was to be loved so he saved forky however what I do dislike is gabby gabby just manipulating him he helped her after her threatening him he won’t get his damn fork for a voice box worth 100s
It does seem odd how easily Woody threw his life away. It was probably way easier for Bobeep because she was never a proper toy to begin with; She was a porcelain ornament, and wasn't really played with that much. So it's understandable that it wouldn't be too hard for her to live without a kid.
I don't understand why you justify Bonnie's actions by saying "she's a kid" I still keep a promise that I made when I was 3 years old! And now I'm 16! I'm pretty sure kids do know better

Buzz is my favorite, and I feel like they did him dirty here. You can’t tell me that the same buzz lightyear who lead the toys to rescue woody doesn’t know how to take charge without woody like he does in this movie. This certainly ain’t the same buzz lightyear who gave woody that speech from toy story 2 about being loved by a kid to convince woody to come back because according to this movie, Buzz needs his voice box to tell him what to do.
Yeah, what the actual hell was all that 'inner voice' crap about? It was so not funny and they just ruined Buzz Lightyear for the whole film. The positive reaction to this film is just mass delusion lol
Yeah. Earlier in the movie she was going to RIP IT OUT OF HIM against his will, what makes him think she deserves it? She's NOT a good person, even tho we're led to believe so. Lotso was someone who you felt bad for, but that didn't mean he got a pass in the end.
@@gamestation2690 but Andy wants Bonnie to take good care of woody and never lost him. If some day Bonnie notice that Woody is gone, she will think her whole life it's her fault an she will scare andy's reaction.

As widely hated as Cars 2, Monsters University and Incredibles 2 are, I can still get at least some enjoyment out of them. Toy Story 4 however is TERRIBLE! They downgraded the characters we’ve loved since 1995/6 (subject to your country of residence or whether you got to see Toy Story 1 overseas before it was released where you live), the plot feels cheap, the film in general feels VERY straight-to-DVD but Woody leaving the group, despite what he said at the end of Toy Story 2, turned this 4th instalment from debatedly bad to HORRIFIC. This is by far one of my MOST HATED Disney movies EVER! This even includes those Disney Channel teen flicks. This even includes most of the straight-to-video stuff. If they NEEDED a 4th Toy Story movie, they should’ve made a prequel that shows how Andy and Woody came to be in the first place! If this was the best they could do in making a 4th main line movie, they should’ve just left it on the cutting room floor! Even that Black Friday reel is better than TS4! I ESPECIALLY can’t believe I asked for, and got, TS4 on 4K Blu Ray that Christmas! I guess I asked for it because: 1. Part of me still liked it 2. I didn’t want to leave a hole in my Pixar collection But the more I thought about it, I found myself DEEPLY regretting asking for it that Christmas! It was made even worse by the fact that my country’s current Right Wing government won a snap election just before Christmas that year, causing me to question whether Christmas was even worth it anymore altogether! I just left that TS4 4K Blu Ray on my shelf, never to be watched. Well kinda, I asked myself a few times if I actually did like the movie, but before long, I decided I didn’t. Wasn’t until around September/October 2021 when I FINALLY got round to donating that unwanted Christmas present to a local charity shop! On the whole, as a lifelong Disney fan, it REALLY upsets me to see what the company is like now, caring more about money than quality entertainment! Live action Lion King is so bad, I honestly would rather watch BIO DOME!
@@adultmoshifan87 You do know people don't just spend their money on themselves, right? They need money for groceries, bills, to feed their families. Plus, do you realise how hard it is to get and maintain a job? Also, about the Lion King remake, the whole point of that was to try and emulate the look of nature documentaries.
Toy Story 1-3: I’ll always be there for my kid Toy Story 4: I think we should see other people. Also, I didn’t really like how much they dumbed down Buzz
I don't think you get it. Woody went through an arc. He was dedicated to Andy because Andy NEEDED him. Bonnie didn't need Woody; he was forgotten about and whenever he was lost, he went unnoticed. After being loyal to Andy, who needed him, he is now a fulfilled toy in a situation that isn't right for him. Instead of being with a kid that doesn't care for him and not having a purpose, he can help other toys find their purpose while bringing himself happiness while doing it. That's why he changed. Look at the character development; in 4 movies, it's expected for characters to change and have development, or else it wouldn't be a good movie.
Prosthetic Quilt Yeah actually it is in character. He’s usually relatively stupid throughout all of the movies, it’s part of his character. I don’t really understand why all of a sudden it’s a problem

@@TheGreatMeme Exactly it’s the end of the franchise, so of course something sad has to happen.Oh wait a second. I forgot that old comment. Don’t mind that one, I agree with you 100%
AND THE TIMELINE MAKES NO SENSE. Toy Story 3 took place ten or so years after Toy Story 2. The original fans of the forts two had grown up, matured and had turned into teenagers. Toy Story 3 used this to their advantage, they made the story mature for the teens but still likeable for the kids. Toy Story 4 was made nine years after 3, but takes place maximum a year after. This messes up the timeline and it doesn't feel real. This is why in film its important to have consistency
@@_mylo_xyloto_1816 I was around 15 when Toy Story 3 came out (having marathoned all of the movies once when they aired them on ABC Family) and when I heard that the 4th one wasn't consistent with the timeline of the third - Bonnie should be at least 10 or Molly's age realistically, I knew this thing was going to crash and burn rubber. Not only that, but - why is Woody alive? Why are the toys alive, if being loved by a kid is so miserable to them? Toy Story 4 breaks the entire world the first three movies set up because they wanted Bo Peep back so badly.
I remember the director of Toy Story 3 saying he was terrified of making a bad Toy Story movie. The director of Toy Story 4 did just that. It's just disappointing that Toy Story 3 ended it perfectly and Toy Story 4 ruined it. It's a problem with Pixar in general. Nearly every film used to be amazing original ideas. Now they just seem to make poor sequels to guarantee Disney money. You used to go to the cinema and know a Pixar film would be incredible. Now you're not very sure. Inside Out was probably the last very good one.
coco and soul was amazing in my opinion. Luca was alright, but turning red was dissapointing. Pixar still has it, but I guess you can't expect every movie they produce to be masterpieces. Pixar is still definitely the most consistent animation studio in terms of quality of movies.
Monsters U was the last good one, and functioned solidly as a send off with a good message: “you probably aren’t the best or even well suited for your dream job”
Andy: Wow, it’s so great to be back from college! How are you, Bonnie? Taking good care of the toys? Bonnie: I lost your cowboy, but look at my fork with googly eyes! Andy: You did *WHAT*
I just wonder what will happen if Bonnie forgets about JESSIE. Remember, Jessie has abandonment issues from Emily in Toy Story 2 and still has them in Toy Story 3 when Andy wants to put them away. If Bonnie forgets about Jessie and doesn't play with her as much anymore, yeah, it won't be pretty.
@@laughoutgoudo1084 Yes Jessie was the one who suggested that she and the other toys go to Sunnyside after they thought Andy threw them away but when Woody tried to explain what really happened, they didn't believe him.
@@foxtoons1999 don't forget in the short film "Toy Story of Terror," Jessie freaks out when she is put into a box because she won't be able to see her friends again and will end up in a situation like in the 2nd movie where she will be sent off to someone who only wants her for her value, not for being played with.
Yes, but time changes and the entire point of the film is that the toys become less relevant for kids as they get/create new toys and they start leaving the others behind. It wouldn't have made sense to make a fourth film about the exact same characters. It just would not have been as entertaining. This fourth movie, I laughed harder than in any of the previous films. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot. The only thing I thought was a bummer was Buzz Lightyear didn't get nearly enough screen time. I wish the movie was longer but as it's essentially made for children, I don't think they could have sit through more than an hour and forty minutes. Still, the plot to me made perfect sense and I don't think this is the end of the franchise. Woody didn't give up on being a toy for one kid - he will see the world with the toy woman he loves while being a toy to many children! So long as no child find off with him forever!
Watch Toy Story of Terror (the Halloween special). It's not perfect, but has a BEAUTIFUL climax. Wonderful addition to the franchise. It puts TS4 to shame.
CrimsonMaverick You should know that this movies ending Got mixed results, some people like the fact that he has left the other toys and gets to live his own life, and some people like myself are angry by the fact that over 20 years of them sticking together through thick and thin were thrown out the window just because the producers wanted us to cry. If he thinks he should’ve left That’s fine, but I personally think Woody leaving is the worst thing Pixar did beside Cars 2
@@Treeeee2008 I agree. I have mixed feelings towards toy story 4 but the ending didn't do it for me. It greatly upset me how Woody just left. They could have made Bonnie lose Woody by accident instead or something, than Woody finds Bo and returns with her. They should have just ended it at toy story 3.
@@jaxthewolf4572 This entire movie was a journey for woody, to find a purpose now that he is a has-been toy. And being united with his girlfriend, going off to start a family of his own, with all his wisdom and life experience, was a great idea
I definitely disliked that the older toys were pushed to the side. It resulted in there not being a whole lot of impact when Woody says his goodbyes. In fact, it was practically rushed. When Woody and the toys parted from Andy in Toy Story 3, I almost cried.
I actually really like that the fourth one exists. The first 3 still make a perfect "Andy-centric" trilogy but the story wasn't done being told. 3's happy ending was that the toys all got a new kid to play with them - so what happens when the new kid grows up too? They needed a fourth entry to demonstrate that in this universe, toys can find a purpose in life outside of complete servitude to a child god. Woody has now broken out of a cycle and he's learned that his way of thinking has been flawed for decades. It's incredible that a kid's movie has the balls to pull off character development like that.
@@HannaHeger Excellent point! While it is understandable that Bo means more to Woody, after everything he and the toys went through in the third film, they could've at least made it seem like it was a difficult choice.
4th was horrifying! 2 small monsters grew stronger and bigger and DESTROYED people in a second. They destroyed everything in its way and nothing survived. Yes that did happened, in one of the dream.
No I love this buzz because this movie was hilarious as hell and I really fucking enjoyed how funny Buzz's retardation was, it reminded me so much of the first film and I enjoyed how Woody was basically Forkies Dad, good jokes, good ending, best toy story
This movie was extremely disappointing. There was some funny moments from it but otherwise a very forgettable experience. They could’ve done a lot more with this.
@@thenegaxd3830 I mean, why? We aren't emotionally connected to Andy, he is barely in the 3 films. We follow the toys themselves. Woody leaving the gang is way more emotional then Andy leaving them because they are all like a family.
@@za-ir5ni Cuz you're supposed to put yourself into the shoes of Andy. Andy's growing up, leaving the toys behind, like we all are at the end of the franchise. "All good things must come to an end". Besides, I think we all know the feeling of having to leave your old toys behind and having to separate with them and grow up. THAT'S why it's emotional. Woody leaving the gang when it established how hard they all fought to stay together for their kids just leaves you with a conflicted feeling.
I just hate how they split up Woody and Buzz. “And as the years go by, our friendship will never die”. And then Woody’s just like see ya this doll is thick
Tommy Tootsters He didn’t have any outbursts like his “YOU ARE A TOY!” tirade from Toy Story 1 but I attribute that to Tom Hanks’ being too old for that now.
I felt like bo and woody are retiring. Having a kid is still the most noble thing a toy can do, but bo and woody have both fulfilled their purposes, so they can leave. Like cap leaving the avengers
But as the video says, this idea completely contradicts the previous 3 movies. As a toy, having a kid was not just a service to the kid, but a service to themselves.
icecream hero I mean he did abandon Bucky, the one person who Steve seems to put above all else, like he sacrificed his relationship with Tony simply for Bucky and you can’t easily say that he would do that for anyone else, so for him to just abandon his formerly brainwashed friend who was forcibly turned into an assassin against his will so for him to hook up with his former girlfriend from the past can seem a little out of character. While I myself don’t really mind it I can understand why some people might not, especially since this ending kinda makes Cap’s arc about accepting that the past happened and that he should move forward with his life kinda pointless, since he just decides to leave his new life behind along with all of his probably traumatized for life friends and his maybe girlfriend Sharon that he forgets exists so he can get go back to his past life and just ignores everything including his wife’s organization being infiltrated by HYDRA and his best friend being brainwashed to be an assassin all while he finally gets laid. It can be seen as overly selfish to some.
Just watched this movie. I literally thought the exact thing, the ending works in the context of the 4th movie ONLY. But totally contradicts woody’s entire character staple set up by the other movies
Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that Pixar used archive voice recordings for Mr. Potatohead from movies and other media sources since Don Rickles passed away. It was a joke. He had maybe 2 lines lol
To be honest I thought Woody’s choice made complete sense. He was there for Andy as a kid, and Andy had a tough time letting go of Woody because Woody was there for him during his childhood, and letting go of Woody was completing his childhood while moving on to becoming an adult. Bonnie sort of forgot about Woody, and it even shows towards the end of the movie. Woody has fulfilled his purpose as a toy, and now he has a choice to live his own life with bo.
It's not really his own life though, is it? He still will probably help lost toys get kids... still makes kids happy... just different than before. He can't have the relationship he had before with any other kid.
Good point! I feel like they could have handled this better without making his letting go of Bonnie so.... What's a good word for the opposite of sentimental?
The Relationship between Woody and Bo isn't the same in the 4th. In order to make Bo a bigger character they gutted both Woody and Buzz and made them 2nd rate versions of their Toy Story 1 and 2 characters. They are much weaker roles. You also don't feel a strong connection between Woody and Bo because she clearly cares more about her sheep than about Woody. Even at the end there is no emotional pull between them when Woody prepares to Leave, Bo just dismisses it and says goodbye. Then he chooses her and its not as powerful because she really didn't seem to care one way or the other. She can clearly live without him so there's no emotion towards him leaving her. It could have been so much better and more gut wrenching, but its ended up being kind of so-so. It didn't hit you hard like Toy Story 3 did, where the toys accept their inevitable fate and that hits you hard because the toys you love are about to die. And the ending hits hard because it showed that Woody was right and that the belief he had that Woody would never forget him was true; Andy really did care.
Bo and Woody’s connection in Toy story 1 and 2 was much better because they bounced off each other nicely. Woody was erratic and constantly worrisome since he was the leader, and Bo balanced him out with her calm and collected nature. Then this movie comes out and completely undermines her original character. The beginning of the movie where Bo and Woody plot to save another toy is just so out of character for her specifically. That wasn’t how Bo was. She wasn’t an action-packed toy (which makes sense since she’s literally made out of porcelain, her original personality fit her design perfectly and that’s why she typically stayed in the back away from the action). I could forgive the movie if they showed how she originally was in the flashback with her calming Woody about something, and then being given up made her change her personality to be bolder. But nope. This movie tells US that we’re remembering it wrong and that Bo Peep was always like this.
That description fits 90% of all successful franchises today. Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Masters of the Universe, and and and, everywhere are strong women that make the established, beloved characters play second fiddle in their own movies/shows/franchises and degrades and humiliates them to make the women appear more powerful. Modern day feminism ruins everything it touches.
It's much less of the "no emotion" and moreso respect in Woody's decision. You can still see Bo's face sadden as Woody drops down and I'd rather have what we got rather than an over-the-top, cliche confession to force Woody to stay against his own original choice. And I love that it was Buzz that got Woody to see what he wanted for himself for once and got him to stay. Like a true friend would, letting people walk their separate paths when they need to, instead of clinging onto them and in a sense hold them back.
I actually hated 4. ALTHOUGH, it was well written. I just hate how Woody is always the only one making sacrifices. SPOILER: I mean, he gave up his voice box to save forky. And everyone is okay with this?
5 ปีที่แล้ว +52
I also don't like how he gave up his voice box to exchange it with Forky, but, if anything, it should be WHY it shouldn't be hated because Woody finally can stop making sacrifices/doing anything for other people (and toys) and get to do what he wants (being with Bo Peep and making children happy without being tied for just one child who neglected him) at the end. This is just... his last job and he's finally at peace.

Thunderbird 1 trixie is not in it because Barbies are SEXIST and set unrealistic standards. It wouldn’t fit the stupid feminist agenda in this shit movie
I think, for me at least, it feels right when you imagine a hypothetical alternate ending where Woody DOES stay with Bonnie. Woody maintains the same loyalty he had with Andy to Bonnie, and he spends his life bending over backwards, putting himself (and often, his fellow toys) in danger, all to make a child happy...but all for a child that simply isn't happy with him, and will through no fault of her own never know the lengths he's going for her sake. At best, a few years down the line he ends up being lost anyway. At worst, he ends up unceremoniously broken or sold or donated, because Bonnie just doesn't want to play with him. And its not like its her fault. She doesn't know Woody's alive, and plus, she's FIVE. What kid hasn't been enamored with a new toy for a week and then never really played with it again? I didn't think the movie contradicted Toy Story 3 so much as it was a deconstruction Woody's character. He was always loyal to his kid and willing to bend the rules to do what's right by them. He had to, because he was the leader of Andy's toys. And at the end of the day, all his hard work was justified by the fact that Andy loved him, and his leadership was rewarded because Andy loved his other toys too. But this isn't the same kid. Andy was exceptional, so of course Bonnie doesn't have the same interests in him as he did. Her toys already HAD a leader who knows how the house runs and how Bonnie thinks before Woody ever arrived. Woody's clinging to a purpose that just isn't there anymore. Staying with Bo, traveling with the carnival and helping the carnival prizes find kids IS probably the best ending he really could have. Not only is he making still kids happy, but he's also giving HIMSELF happiness too. And I know this is a long comment already, but in a world where injustice is broadcasted to us on a daily basis, and activism is rampant, and there's just so many things that need to be fixed and done and said...I think that last point is important.
This is a great point to argue! This is why I'm not AGAINST Woody's new decision to show himself some love with freedom. But throughout all of these comments, I'm still going to argue from a writer's point of view that the turn in character development was still too sudden. It was done too quickly with just one movie. I would have been more excited to see Woody set off if A) it had taken place over events that stretched at least another movie and B) if Woody had gotten some more of his buddies to go with him, especially Buzz because that's his best friend right after Andy. Also... about kids being enamored with a toy for a week and then forgetting them... I guess most kids do that, but I don't remember doing so. I remember that if I had no real interest in a toy, I normally just put it away and never opened it in the first place. I am pretty sure I remember nearly every toy I had that I loved a lot though and the number of them goes over 30 (I was that one antisocial kid at school who was still a popular kid because the other kids loved to come over and use them for their amount of cool and popular toys, sadly)... Six of them were Woody dolls of varying sizes for a long, long time.
I think this is a very good point just. I wish they would've taught woody how to email or something the other toys so they could keep in touch ;-; thats the worst part for me. Them always wondering if Woody is okay and vice verse
@@CosplayCore They've put all of WWII into a single movie. War and Peace was done as a single movie. Bonnie got Woody in a box of toys. She already had favorite toys. He's a boy's toy and an old-fashioned boy's toy at that. Woody had never been Bonnie's favorite toy. They spent most of this movie showing how difficult it was for Woody to come to terms with the change of his life, and that was close to too long--it was starting to get boring before the audience was let in on the fact that the ennui was intentional.

In my opinion, Toy Story 4 is the antithesis of Woody's philosophy that the entire trilogy had set. The example you put with Toy Story 2, is not fair in Toy Story 4's context. In 2, Woody was really in his prime of his "career", similar to a soccer player in his prime. But in Toy Story 4, we get to see some character development for Woody never before seen in the franchise. Forky and Gabby Gabby are the characters we get to see in this example. Forky has barely been played with, and he is starting his life with Bonnie, that is why it is so important to rescue Forky, because he is so important to Bonnie. On the other hand, Gabby Gabby has spent 60 years in the antique shop and has never been played with, while Woody has had an incredible life with Andy and 2 years with Bonnie; this is when Woody realizes that he has already had the chance of being played with, additionally Woody isn't being played as much as he's used to, so he realizes that Bonnie is no longer his mission, and that now that he has helped Forky and Gabby Gabby live on a new life with a kid, it is time for him to have a new purpose in life, similar to a retirement. One mistake you mentioned in the video is that Woody and Bo Peep where going to see the world, where in fact, the new mission they have is connected to being there for a kid; helping other toys being there for a kid. You may also say that in Toy Story 3, Buzz said "Our mission with Andy is complete", but the context of this situation is different from Toy Story 4. In Toy Story 3, we clearly see that Andy was worried because he thought his toys were thrown to the trash, so that puts Woody into perspective that Andy still needs the toys, which is not the case in Toy Story 4, where Bonnie clearly doesn't care that much of Woody. But you might say that Bonnie may still want Woody, but Buzz explains to Woody in the final moments that Bonnie will be ok without him, allowing Woody to set himself free from his insecurity of being there for his child, but now that his child doesn't need him anymore and that he can help more by helping other toys, he has a new purpose in life. BTW, I’m not a native speaker, so sorry if I have any mistake in the text.
You said that the gang has been owned by Bonnie for two years. I may have missed that. Can you please remind where it said that in the movie? Bonnie is, like, five in this movie, and she was very close to the same age in the third movie. I always assumed a few months only passed.
Sabrina Miller I do know that she was in pre-K in the 3 and now she’s going into kindergarten. It’s probably not two years, but there’s def a time jump
Couldn't have said it better myself... you really seem to get it and made me better understand what they were doing. I wish that it was a bit more clear in the movie that this was the best path for Woody. What this movie did was really different. I saw it for the second time today and it was clear to me that Woody needed a new purpose after fulfilling his life with Andy.
_you’ve got a friend in me_ you’ve got a friend in me YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME *YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND IN FREAKING ME WHAT DOES TOY STORY 4 NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS*
I just watched this movie and I think it gets that friends let each other go and do their own thing sometimes. Some things are bigger than being part of a group together and being friends means more than being together physically
That's almost an insult to them. Watch Toy Story of Terror (the Halloween special). It's not perfect, but it knocks the shoes off TS4. The climax is absolutely beautiful and moving.
I completely agree. The movie felt dark and depressing. And it put kids (specially Bonnie) in a light that made it seem like they are the villains and bad people in general. It left me feeling weird and unsatisfied.
I actually really liked Forky. His purpose in the story was to help move Woody’s arc along, and in that regard I think he’s weak as a character, but that one scene where Gabby-Gabby shows him the picture book and he comforts her broke my heart so I’m super torn lol
Except Forky introduced a really interesting dynamic that I found really fascinating that I wish addressed what makes a toy alive. The whole concept of trash was what the film was about and how it reflects on our characters.
Forky sort of exists to represent how Woody has grown. In one scene in the movie. Woody is telling Forky about what Buzz was like when he came along. In the same scene, Woody says the words "you are a toy" to Forky, except the way he says it from when he said it to Buzz has totally changed. Remember how Woody went back to save Forky rather than leave him there? Remember how in the first movie he threw Buzz out a window to make Andy play with him? Toy Story 4, as a movie about Woody, I think Forky has such a role to show how Woody has grown.
"He'll never give up on you , no matter what" Woody: oh well ,oopsie "When it's all over I'll have old buzz lightyear to keep me company" Woody: well yes but actually no No toy left behind, oh well i guess woody doesn't count
My ass she was. She wasn’t even likeable either. I love her new design, but that’s completely overshadowed by her smug drill sergeant personality. What would’ve made sense is if she did become bolder but also kept that calm nurturing side to her character intact as well. Her new personality just completely clashes with Woody’s. In the flashback, their dynamic doesn’t feel natural in any way either and it only gets worse as she drags Woody around in the movie, acts smug about her new way of living and her new friends and yells at him when he tries to save another toy. Woody and fricking Buzz had more chemistry in the first movie (where they argued for 3/4ths of it) than Woody and Bo Peep did in this one, and yet Woody still leaves his found family in the end for Bo and her unlikeable new friends?? Even if Woody didn’t feel as though he had a purpose with Bonnie, you still can’t convince me that he willingly would’ve left all his friends he’s been with since Andy was a kid to clap Bo Peep’s cheeks. Goddamn. They turned my boy into a straight up simp in the name of subverting expectations.
Woody was loyal to Bonnie. He went through a lot of trouble to get Forky back to her. Woody knew Bonnie didn't need him anymore, so he chose to move on.
@@porsche911sbs and abandoned buzz, his best friend? This was bullshit. The whole set up is messed up and feels like fanfiction. bonnie who suddenly doesn't care about woody AT ALL, children and adults failing to notice that the toys move all over the place, bo's entire character (even in the beginning. there is no way she would've suggested woody to come with her) and all these minor things, this movie attempts to subvert expectations, and it doesn't belong. It's a good movie, but it doesn't belong
Bored Kenny what really annoyed me is that we’re led to believe that no peep has been with Andy and woody since Andy was maybe a baby, once buzz comes and she leaves they become friends for like 12 YEARS.
People have forgotten that Woody almost left ANDY in TS2 after seeing how popular he was in the past. He needs to feel love and didn't so my man dipped. Just hated what they did with Buzz so bad tho.
Mostly because Tim Allen is one of the few (along with Chris Pratt, Vince Vaughn, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight) conservatives in Hollywood, a place *dominated* by liberals.
"Toy Story 4 teaches us that being wanted and being alone are both equally valid." Except Woody isn't alone. And he likely doesn't make the decision to leave Bonnie if Bo Peep isn't on the other end of it to be with. That makes it more of a "If you can't be with the one you love, be with the one you're with." message. Which still has to do with being 'someone's' as Woody likely isn't doing it, if Bo Peep isn't waiting for him and to do it with him. So Woody nor Bo Peep are alone at the end of this.
Imagine if they made a Toy Story 5 that was based way into the future, focusing around Woody reuniting with the gang and finding a new kid who is actually Andy’s child... I’m not crying you are
I actually had the same thought and typed it out as a make- shift script where the carnival of Woody and Bo Peep come yearly to Bonnie's town, Woody reminisces with the gang, Andy comes to the fair with a wife and kids!!! And Woody being Woody would make Andy see him, so Andy asks Bonnie to take Woody for his kids blindly thinking Bonnie was taking care of him 😂 and Bo Peep comes with for Andy's daughter. Their house isn't far away from Bonnie's either so Bonnie and Andy's kids can play.... I JUST WANTED A HAPPY ENDING!! 😂😂 I'm still a sucker for happy endings okay! 😁
@smb85 dkc94 😱 oh my gosh, I do not think that will will be a quick thing to process for the toys, even though Hannah is a sweet girl, she would be awesome for Andy.... But I really can't say 😄 since Andy didn't know Sid that well and didn't pay attention to the fact that Sid was a toy murderer... He wouldn't have a problem with it and since Woody taught Sid a lesson in the 1st movie, the toys have nothing to worry about, but I can imagine a short part where Woody low key taunts Sid making him think he's going crazy again 😂😂
Or they are in a post apocalyptic world where humans and therefore children, are dead. They walk in the wasteland, looking for energy for the electric toys that are dying
I think you're completely missing the point of the film. Woody isn't giving up on having a kid at all, he's giving up the idea that he has to just dedicate his life to one kid. Yes, Bo Peep is off "seeing the world," but it's established that she's also being a toy to multiple children wherever she goes. All of the toys in the carnival who are free feel this way, excited and reporting about various groups of children in different areas that they can play with. Gabby Gabby's arc is not that she doesn't get a kid and then gets a kid. Once again, it's that she's obsessed with ONE kid, and she learns that she can be a toy to any kid if she opened herself up to it. She was obsessed with one specific image that didn't pan out, but when she opens herself up to new chances, it ends up working in her favor. Woody's choice at the end of the film reflects that he doesn't have to be the sole toy that's always there for Bonnie. He's spent his entire life being Andy's core toy, and even not as loved by Bonnie, he still puts himself in an enormous amount of danger just to retrieve Forky and make her happy. His realization at the end is that being given up by one child is part of a journey any toy will face. You may not always be one specific kid's toy, and you have the right to explore new things. Your video seems to look at the details of the plot in the fourth film at a very surface level. Anyways, sorry for the essay and still enjoy the content. I just don't think this analysis was very well thought out.
Lukas Gordon Yeah, I really think it is unfair to call Woody selfish for 'abandoning' his friends, whatever the hell that means. He didn't abandon Bonnie or his friends, and didn't really want to leave them, but his point of view was beginning to alter just like it did for Bo, in which these past nine years of her missing really changed her outlook on life and became determined and independent. Even knowing how dangerous it can be for lost toys, which is why she responded harshly in some situations, because parts of the outer world are not like a kids room or a game to play. Bo's time in a kids room was over, and it was becoming that way for Woody who finally realized this in the end when he knew that going back to Bonnie would be pointless and would only mean being in the closet for a decade or two until moving day. And its not really fair to try and force some toys to think the only way to happiness is in a kids room, because ideals can change, or kept in different ways than how it used to be decades ago. I mean sure Bonnie may not play with him anymore, but he still at least wants her to be happy with Forky which is why he tries to help him. His bond with Bonnie wasn't as strong as it was with Andy, and realized some kids love toys differently and move on from one when new ones come and go. So it makes sense for him to finally stay behind and Buzz assuring that Bonnie will be alright, handing his sheriff badge to Jessie. Even the thought of sacrificing his voice box to Gabby made it see how unselfish he is to help another toy who was misguided and lost. I know how hard it can be for someone to move on from one person while being there for another, your heart being in a different place. He didn't want to leave the gang without saying goodbye or give a good explanation, but maybe they too were realizing what he might have been struggling to tell them.
I think you completely nailed it. That's exactly what the movie is about (or at least, what I interpreted) It's not like Toy Story 4 doesn't have any flaws but that was the message of the movie. I think Captain Midnight should give it another watch because it seems he interpreted the film at a very surface level.
The one thing I’ve been thinking about when I saw the ending is “What about Andy”? It’s like the completely forgot about Andy and Bonnie’s promise to him.
@@sailormoonfaiza Yeah, I mean there's a character right there who could help her: Jessie. TS4 was frankly ridiculous to the point it should be noncanon, unless a Toy Story 5 is made that fixes it and gives them a proper ending.
Well no shit she practically grew up on the streets she got tougher and street smart not being in a room and its been years that way so no shit shes different
I was actually excited for such the drastic character change they were putting on this side character everyone was like “what happened to her” about, but I have to agree. Something about her was just entirely off the entire time. She didn’t come off as an independent adventurer scouring the outside world on her own, she came off like a drill sergeant who should have been wearing a military uniform. At parts she was just plain mean. She was literally yelling for a good portion of the movie. I remember realizing if it was one of the male characters acting like she was they would just seem cold and cruel. And that’s not something that feels right for Bo Peep as we know her, though my memories aren’t the most clear.
TC Productions all of the toy stories have been woody’s. He’s always been the main character. Who else would be? You could say that the first movie was buzz’s but even his arc was comparable to woody’s
@@yomandonteatthose Well yes but the rest of the cast still got a lot of good screen time. Now the original cast has been put to the side, and I mean _A LOT_ .
The reason woody changed was because he had felt like he fulfilled his purpose with Andy. With Bonnie, he didn't really fit in and he was always neglected by her. What woody learned in TS4 was that he can make other toys find their purpose, with Forky and Gabby Gabby as the main examples.
Lolsus 4u I agree. Buzz words “life’s only worth living if you’re being loved by a kid” still makes sense. Woody was loved by Andy, but not by Bonnie. Woody’s new purpose is to make sure other toys are being loved by a kid.
Nexis siempreaqui while he was funny, the movie shouldn’t have revolved around such a lame character. Woody could have learned the move on lesson a better way.
Kav Pk very true, but real people can visit. Toys I would think would have a tough time finding each other. Look how long BoPeep was gone, and they found her by accident.
@@superdutyzack I guess that's the profoundess of it all. There will come a day when we can't visit our most beloved family members either. I don't know. Only thing I was mad about was dumb Buzz.
I think one of the problems with Toy Story 4, is the new ideas it introduces makes the audience subconsciously question the reality of the universe they inhabit. In the first 3 movies, they very carefully ride the line and manage to main your suspension of disbelief by not focusing too much on why or how the toys are the way they are. There's no magical folk lore or actual confirmation outside of their perspective that they are living beings. By keeping the premise simple and not dwelling on how they came to be, we don't question it and we understand the obvious conclusion that a sentient toy would want to be played with. Toy Story 4 focuses far too much on this. Even simple things like Woody outwardly philosophizing over the concept of having a conscience or debating a selfish existence of exploration and living with someone he cares about, really muddies the idea of why they're alive in the first place. When you treat characters like Woody with deep human interests, life goals and romantic interests for too long, when you have him choosing a life alone with his love interest and exploring the world, the audience subconsciously begins to question "wait, why is Woody alive if he's this nuanced and can live independently of being a toy", with characters like Forky's creation also muddying those thoughts. It starts to bring questions to the table that make the world and the toy's "life" more of a focal point, when really, the less said the better. You also touched upon it in the video, but I also have a problem with Bo-Peep's story arch for this reason, but also because it takes Jessie's story arch from Toy Story 2, and flips it's conclusion on it's head. Really spoiling the themes of the previous movies. Then of course there's also the ending of Toy Story 3 almost retconned with this new direction by making Bonnie betray Andy's trust. Woody was never even going to be included in his toy donation until she showed how much she loved him and Andy very reluctantly gave him up, when the previous movies implied it was a long-term family toy. Toy Story 4 isn't a completely terrible movie, but it's has too many half baked ideas, sullies some previous installments themes and more frustratingly gets worse the more you think about it.
Yes. A toy without a kid is like french fry without salt. What kind of "life" can they enjoy in the great wide world anyway? They can't enjoy trying new foods/drinks or perform any other life functions so what are they going to spend their lives doing? Seems empty. Which come to think of it, is exactly what a life lived in service of self is. Helping others gives meaning to life. This movie seems to think toys doing absolutely nothing more than merely existing (again they can't really DO anything to enjoy life. They're toys with no biological needs or functions) is a lovely prospect. Whereas TS2 adeptly showed the folly of that. This movie is the equivalent of Woody choosing to go to the museum. Would people have applauded that ending as Woody choosing happiness/retirement/fulfillment? Why not and importantly why now?
unefleurdelalune Great response. I particularly like the analogy of “Woody choosing the museum”, really well put and really hammers things home. There’s other issues too, like Buzz being an intelligent problem solver and second in command to Woody in 2 (leads the rescue for Woody and also decodes the license plate) and the same in 3 (escaping the trash bag, etc). Convincing the others that no toy be left behind. To acting like a doofus (almost pre-knowledge of being a toy) in 4, and actually getting mad and disappointed at Woody for wanting to go back for Forky in the antique store, telling him to give up.
@@Benjamoose Another thing that aggravates me about the way they dove into this is how Jessie's claustrophobia and fear of abandonment will ultimately affect her once Bonnie gets bored, like Trixie or Mr. Pricklepants' strange nonexistence after the third movie. Like, did they not forget her fear of dark spaces?!
Woody [in Toy Story]: "It doesn't matter how much we're played with. What matters is that we're here for Andy when he needs us. That's what we're made for. Right?" Woody [in Toy Story 4]: "I'm not played with. I'm outta here!" What a hypocrite.
except he didn’t leave because he wasn’t being played with. he was totally ready to stick around and handle being left in the closest. the reason he left is because Bonnie didn’t need him to be there for her anymore, so he found a new way to go off and do good for both kids and other toys who DID need him. felt like a pretty natural extension of his character to me
to me it felt natural he left. i guess Woody stuck around longer with Andy because he was his favourite kid, not even Bony could replace that. seeing how much Woody loved Bo and wanted to run off together. man, don't call my boi a hypocrite
I think Woody's send-off was better than Steve's. I still don't really get why he left to the past and left everything else behind (technically he got back to the present eventually, but still).
Rachel Hirst you're not the only one who despises Forky. I really think he's just what he himself thought he was: trash. Also, when Bonnie grows up one day, she'll probably see him as trash too, making toy story 4 somewhat pointless in a way. But it was good to see Bo again, and I think that's another reason why 4 was made. It's nice to meet you and hope to get to talk with you sometime.
i .candy he really was unnecessary; I like how the toys almost got destroyed by a cat just for a spork. I admire Woody for trying to do the right thing, but sometimes you got to understand that doing the right thing doesn't always mean it'll be appreciated.
Toy Story 1 set an extremely high bar. Toy Story 2 passed that bar and set a new record. 3 almost made it to the original bar but came up a bit short. And 4. Well 4, didn’t care about those bars and did it’s own thing. I like that
Toy story 2 Woody: And it least when it does all end, I'll have ole Buzz Lightyear to keep me company. For infinity and beyond. Toy story 4 Woody: lol hoes b4 bros am I right?!
I know everyone’s been making that joke but I feel buzz was the one who wanted what was best for his friend. Buzz knew woody wasn’t happy but was always trying to take care of everyone to make them happy. I think Buzz and woody knew he’d be happier with Bo
But why would he be happier with Bo?? The past 3 movies go completely against this. In toy story 1 2 and 3 and even the 1st half of 4 woody was always made sure Andy or Bonnies happiness came 1st. And now just because he isn't the "favorite" anymore he wants to leave?? Remember this goes against what he said in toy story 1 at Andy's birthday party.... "it doesn't matter if we are being played with, what matters is that we are there for him when he needs us" what happens to that woody?? Now we are supposed to believe that he would leave his kid and all of his toy friends behind for bo peep? Remember at the beginning of the movie bo peep left willingly even after woody tried to save her. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't go back with someone who willingly left me without a second thought. And you said Buzz wanted what was best for woody, wish is true and I agree with. But the way the did Buzz in this whole movie was wrong. All those movies devolving his character threw out the window just to make him a running joke... the did a lot of characters dirty in this film. They made Buzz an idiot, they completely changed bo peeps personality, they made woody not care about his friends or his kid anymore, and the rest of them barely got 5 minutes of screen time. And yes before anyone says anything I know Mr potato heads voice actor passed away but that's no excuse for the rest of the toys we know and love to not get a bigger part. Anyways TLDR I left feeling like pixar could do way better. There were parts I liked and even loved but overall ts4 was the worst in the series... But that's just my opinion
It wasn't the first time pixar has disappointed me, that honor goes to cars 2. But it is the first time anything toy story related, including all toy story shorts, has disappointed me.
@@sarahkey4593 Here's what also REALLY angered me, even as a guy: They weakened Jessie too. She's a pushover to Bo. Anyone who has seen TS2, TS3 and ESPECIALLY Toy Story of Terror knows she would NOT have let Bo haul Woody off. She loves him like he's her big brother. TSOT was beautiful, that was the greatest act of love she could ever show to him. TS4 was a slap in the face to her, not just Buzz.
Toy Story 3 and 4 are about the analogy of the toy to child relationship being the same as the parent to child relationship. Woody talks about Andy as if he was his own son. Woody and Andy's mom share the same sadness about Andy leaving for college. They both have to let go. Woody taking care of Forky is a direct analogy for taking care of a small child. He says to Buzz, "I don't remember it being this hard." There are parenting references all over this movie. Forky says, "So your purpose has been fulfilled?" Woody is coming to terms with no longer being needed as a parent and rediscovering adult relationships. Gabby Gabby wants to experience the joy of caring for a child, while knowing it will end in heartbreak. This is the paradox of parenting. It's beautiful, complex, and emotional. That is Woody's arc.
I agree, but at the same time she’s a freaking five-year-old. You can’t and shouldn’t expect her to keep a promise like taking care of a toy she would have easily grown out of years later anyway.
Toy Story 4 is probably one of the best pixar movies and has the most complex and beautiful message. Let nostalgia behind and enjoy the movie for what it is.
ioanin the movie was rather nihilistic, nihilism isn’t beautiful. It’s a real bummer and we see plenty of it in reality. I don’t want to see that shit in my childhood escapism.
ioanin One pf the best Pixar movies?? I highly doubt it, Pixar has masterpieces I doubt toy story 4 is one of them. You say we have to leave nostalgia behind and enjoy the movie, the thing is toy story wasn’t really part of my childhood, so I don’t get what you mean. Also the third one had a better message and more beatiful message, because Andy left his beloved toys to a little girl that was supposed to cherish his toys like Andy did when he was a kid, that was a more beatiful message for a toy.
Tbh I would have preferred if Andy gave his toys to his future kids, not to Bonnie because she didn’t care about his toys, look at Woody she never realized he was missing 😒😒

My main criticism for this movie is: they did buzz dirty.
How?
he wasn't very involved in the (what we can assume) final movie and he kinda came off as stupid. he didnt have much/if any character arch at all and just seemed somewhat there for the sake of giving buzz screen time.
yeah the movie was about woody and HIS progression as a character, (and i love my man woody so im not complaining about the movie revolving around him) but it felt like very little effort was put in to giving him a comfortable resolution and end to the franchise. but i still love the movie anyway haha
Toy Story 4 is the conclusion of Woodys arc. Not Buzz lol.

Brian Serway Yep, exactly - I totally saw this as Woody’s retirement plan the movie!

Except... he didn't retire... he found a new way to help kids be happy... giving lost toys new homes.
@@CosplayCore respectfully, I feel like this had been his"journey" through all three movies

Woody abandoned Bullseye. After seeing how loyal Bullseye was to Woody in Toy Story 2, that was heartbreaking.
I guess I asked for it because:
1. Part of me still liked it
2. I didn’t want to leave a hole in my Pixar collection
But the more I thought about it, I found myself DEEPLY regretting asking for it that Christmas!

I'm pretty sure the song is about Woody and Andy, not Buzz.
Everyone is so out of character throughout the entirety of this movie.
Especially Buzz and Jessie. They're both significantly weakened. Disgusting.
And little dialogue from Rex is very hurt to watch.
Woody wasn't too out of character imo. Like midnight said, they're probably trying to have there cake and eat it too.
If it wasn't clear this was Woody's movie not Buzz not Jessie so...
But when it's the Avengers it's okey when characters are out of character because its the MCU and the MCU can do no wrong
@@aviad61 interesting take
But as the video says, this idea completely contradicts the previous 3 movies. As a toy, having a kid was not just a service to the kid, but a service to themselves.
JRH 1007 but Woody is now helping other toys find kids. Isn’t that also a noble pursuit?
icecream hero I mean he did abandon Bucky, the one person who Steve seems to put above all else, like he sacrificed his relationship with Tony simply for Bucky and you can’t easily say that he would do that for anyone else, so for him to just abandon his formerly brainwashed friend who was forcibly turned into an assassin against his will so for him to hook up with his former girlfriend from the past can seem a little out of character.

Exactly👏🏾 someone was paying attention

It's not really his own life though, is it? He still will probably help lost toys get kids... still makes kids happy... just different than before.

@@GeneTonics Callous?
Months after the movie and I'm still thinking will Woody and Bo ever remeet their old friends again?
@@sailormoonfaiza No
Not in my opinion, anywya
SPOILER:
I mean, he gave up his voice box to save forky. And everyone is okay with this?
I also don't like how he gave up his voice box to exchange it with Forky, but, if anything, it should be WHY it shouldn't be hated because Woody finally can stop making sacrifices/doing anything for other people (and toys) and get to do what he wants (being with Bo Peep and making children happy without being tied for just one child who neglected him) at the end. This is just... his last job and he's finally at peace.

Good comment, I agree.

@tuts WELL SAID
Yeah, the Toy Story spin-offs are all much better than this movie
I completely agree. The movie felt dark and depressing. And it put kids (specially Bonnie) in a light that made it seem like they are the villains and bad people in general. It left me feeling weird and unsatisfied.
Exactly, people are forgetting that they're kids.
I wish they didn’t focus on Forky so much. But man I was gonna cry when Woody left the gang.
I wished they focused more on him, he is the most fascinating character in the whole series.

Except Woody isn't alone.

Won’t happen. Not “woke” enough.
Watchandjewelryloft correct. Gotta get those subtle accessory jabs in there for good measure.
Murder me
I think you're completely missing the point of the film.
Perfectly said.
Great reply.
I think you completely nailed it. That's exactly what the movie is about (or at least, what I interpreted)
It's not like Toy Story 4 doesn't have any flaws but that was the message of the movie. I think Captain Midnight should give it another watch because it seems he interpreted the film at a very surface level.

The one thing I’ve been thinking about when I saw the ending is “What about Andy”? It’s like the completely forgot about Andy and Bonnie’s promise to him.
FINALLY! Someone with the same opinion as me. I didn’t like the ending. The whole movie felt like more of a Pixar short than an actual movie sequel.

Same! THANK YOU!
@@sailormoonfaiza Yeah, I mean there's a character right there who could help her: Jessie. TS4 was frankly ridiculous to the point it should be noncanon, unless a Toy Story 5 is made that fixes it and gives them a proper ending.

I feel like this was more of a Woody Story much more than a Toy Story
TC Productions all of the toy stories have been woody’s. He’s always been the main character. Who else would be? You could say that the first movie was buzz’s but even his arc was comparable to woody’s

The reason woody changed was because he had felt like he fulfilled his purpose with Andy. With Bonnie, he didn't really fit in and he was always neglected by her. What woody learned in TS4 was that he can make other toys find their purpose, with Forky and Gabby Gabby as the main examples.
@senseisifu i agree
Exactly. Thankyou
Lolsus 4u I agree. Buzz words “life’s only worth living if you’re being loved by a kid” still makes sense. Woody was loved by Andy, but not by Bonnie. Woody’s new purpose is to make sure other toys are being loved by a kid.
@@patrickpreston3904 Yes, at least someone agrees with me

My issues with TS4.
1: Like no buzz screen time.
2: Splitting up the toys. They’re family.
3: forky
Why forky?
Nexis siempreaqui while he was funny, the movie shouldn’t have revolved around such a lame character. Woody could have learned the move on lesson a better way.
That's the thing. Physically, family can split up. But in their hearts, no.
Exactly
@@Benjamoose Another thing that aggravates me about the way they dove into this is how Jessie's claustrophobia and fear of abandonment will ultimately affect her once Bonnie gets bored, like Trixie or Mr. Pricklepants' strange nonexistence after the third movie.

cynda quil But Bonnie didn’t *NEED* him
except he didn’t leave because he wasn’t being played with. he was totally ready to stick around and handle being left in the closest. the reason he left is because Bonnie didn’t need him to be there for her anymore, so he found a new way to go off and do good for both kids and other toys who DID need him. felt like a pretty natural extension of his character to me

Anybody else realize that Woody had the same ending as cap in Endgame abandoning being a hero to live a life with their love interest

Don’t make me cry......
TOO bad endgame sucked. So do this.
Only it worked better in Endgame than in Toy Story 4

I was really disappoint with toy story 4. They should have just left it at 3 films.
Yes.
RedLadyBug U right
My main issue with the film is Buzz having a reduced and slightly unimportant role. Also that damn Forky!
It did feel weird that the only old characters, not counting Bo Peep, that had large roles where Woody and Buzz
i .candy he really was unnecessary; I like how the toys almost got destroyed by a cat just for a spork. I admire Woody for trying to do the right thing, but sometimes you got to understand that doing the right thing doesn't always mean it'll be appreciated.
Rules of the toy story universe: Inanimate objects don’t come to life, only the toys
Toy Story 4: Ha Ha fork is alive now

@Eleni McLaughlin
I take it you haven't seen Finding Dory?
That is Woody's arc.

ioanin One pf the best Pixar movies?? I highly doubt it, Pixar has masterpieces I doubt toy story 4 is one of them. You say we have to leave nostalgia behind and enjoy the movie, the thing is toy story wasn’t really part of my childhood, so I don’t get what you mean. Also the third one had a better message and more beatiful message, because Andy left his beloved toys to a little girl that was supposed to cherish his toys like Andy did when he was a kid, that was a more beatiful message for a toy.
