- Lightyear is officially out in theaters today! And being the lifelong Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear fan that I am, I wanted to make a video for the occasion. I thought about doing a review for the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cartoon but that seemed like an obvious choice. X) So what'd I end up doing instead? Well, I thought I'd try my hand as an alternate universe theory where I determine what events would occur if something changed in a certain story! It started off simple; What if Buzz Lightyear and Woody never made it home to Andy in Toy Story 1? Seemed like an interesting idea. Little did I know that the results would actually be super dark and scary and full of tons of toy death. XD Like jeez, I didn't expect things to get this dark! But hey, maybe you guys'll appreciate a little dark stuff one in a while. God knows Pixar liked to get dark a lot. Need I mention the incinerator scene?! So prepare yourselves for our first trip into the Animation Multiverse! What kind of effects would Buzz and Woody's absence have on Toy story's biggest characters like Slinky, Ham, Rex, Mrs and Mr Potato Head, Jessie, Bullseye, Bo Peep, Andy, Bonnie and even the series villains? Well strap yourselves in for a marathon of theories, analysis, comedy and a recap song with a really bad Randy Newman impression! Fun Fact: It was confirmed by the creator of toy story that Woody was the prototype of a toy line that never went into production, and only ended up in Andy’s hands because he was sent to his father, who had polio, after he sent a story for a contest (memory’s a little fuzzy on the details, I saw it in a video a while ago) so long story short, he’s not only rare, he’s one of a kind.

The part of Woody being unique is likely to be true considering the 2nd movie, other wise that entire story was revealed to be fake by one of the writers of the first movie

Given the lack of official, canonical information on that (none of the wikis list it as canon) and the fact that little tidbit is second-hand and not actually, directly said by the creator, it's probably not actually canon.

Wait, when Andy threw his Toys in the trash bag, he actually paused a while to look at Buzz and Woody. In the alternate timeline he doesn't do it, actually makes it to the attic, throws his toys inside, and they get played with by Molly and Andy's kids. My head canon.

Better ending for the series than Toy Story 4 tbh. 3 was the perfect ending, but sadly, 4 decided we can’t have nice things. Lol
I don't think Andy would've been attached to those other toys without Woody and Buzz
Not to mention. Buzz and Woody are probably the reason Andy kept the toys till college. So who knows if they would even last that long
What if Al found Woody on the road side
He would probably take him to his apartment just like in Toy Story 2.
Theory: What if Woody was taken to Japan. No not willingly went which has been solved by multiple people but if Buzz and the rest of the gang never found the suitcase so Woody along with the rest of the roundup gang end up being taken to Japan but Buzz knows that Woody really wanted to go back home.
Buzz and the rest of the gang would spend the next few years mourning the loss of Woody but would eventually learn to move on as there's nothing they could do about it, Andy would be devastated and Woody would of learnt to adapt to the new life in Japan as a collector's item behind glass.
As Toy Story 3 takes place, Buzz would of lead the group as they prepare for the move to attic but the mishap with the trash bags still causes them to end up at Sunnyside. Buzz is set to demo mode by Lotso for trying to break out, imprisons the rest of his friends and they're stuck behind the cages. Without Woody's help by speaking to the telephone car and getting access to the Buzz Lightyear instruction manual, Rex and the rest of the toys would of been stuck behind the cages listening to brainwashed reset Buzz give orders under Lotso for the rest of their days.
@@peterdavies2903 I like this idea because it shows how importamt Woody was to the rest of Andys toys but at the same time Buzz was not the kind of toy to give up espically since he knew that Woody wanted to get back to Andys. In the theory of Woody going to Japan Buzz and the rest of the toys did not come back for him becasue he did not wanna go back to Andys when they last saw him so they would have thought Woody was still happy with his decision. Buzz is also a pretty smart toy so he would have found a way to get there. For Woody on the other hand he wanted to get back to Andys along with Bullseye wanting to go with Woody and have a owner again and Jessie wanting to go when she heard from Woody that Andy would love her and that he has a little sister. Sitinky Pete was the only one who wanted to stay a collectable so it would have been 3 against 1. If Stinky Pete tried to keep Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye from leaving it would have been an immpossible thing to do and even more impossible if Woody had got a hold of his picaxe. Of course Andy would not have seen Woody, Buzz, or the rest of the toys for a long time but they would have eventually gotten back home.

@@srstriker6420 Rinzler did the theory on what if Woody CHOSE to go to Japan. Meaning he did not change his mind when Buzz and the rest left the apartment. The theory I want to see being solved if Woody told Buzz that he wanted to come home after realizing what he was doing leading up to the rest of the events in Toy Story 2 til the airport convayer belt where they were looking for the case but instead of Buzz finding him the green suitcase it makes it to the airplane and Woody is taken to Japan against his own will still wanting to get home.

What if Al found Woody and Buzz somewhere when they got lost in Toy Story 1? 🤔
Al would of took Woody back to his apartment and Woody meets the rest of the round up crew. Since Buzz isn't part of the collection that Al was looking for and isn't needed in Japan, Al would of given Buzz a place with the rest of the Buzz Lightyears at the Toy Barn in the Buzz isle. Woody is flown to Japan and Buzz doesn't go the apartment to save him.
Buzz is left stranded in the Buzz isle with the hundreds of other Buzzes but is eventually found and bought by a new owner and then gets the wake up call that he is a toy, not a real spaceranger.
As the years go by, Woody adapts to his new life in Japan behind glass, Rex and the rest of the toys back at Andy's house learnt to move on from Woody and Buzz after mourning the loss of them for years and either:
Get placed in the attic in time for TS3
The mishap with the trash bags sends them to either the garbage truck💀⚰ or Sunnyside, where they're ruled by Lotso for the rest of their days with no one to save them.

2) Al could've just take only Woody and left Buzz cause he only cared about Woody. Then Buzz just continue his Spaceman Journey and never attempted to rescue Woody cause they were not really Friends.
@@peterdavies2903 I feel like Buzz would have more resilience and end up a lot more like the delusional one in TS2. Fighting to save woody. I feel like Buzz lightyear would may also have a more effective strategy since the threat of Zurg wouldn’t be overlooming. He could even team up with the other Buzzes. They would easily save Woody or complete any other star command mission. The army could likely reach a spaceship. They could easily find Andy’s toys going widespread. Some may end up in Pizza planet. Some could go on Spanish mode for a A Jessie potential. Prospector could pull a TS3 on some Buzzes. A Zurg could escape and be terrified of the hundreds of space rangers. There’s also a whole chance Al could just leave Buzz there and be a bunch of things too. Buzz’s rescue mission of Woody from the car could just work. Buzz could also have his own space shuttle search. I can see Al leaving Buzz because he doesn’t care about some 20 dollar toy compared to a slightly dirty Woody or that Al just wants to preserve the Woody doll as carefully as possible.

Here’s an idea. What if Buzz and the rest of Andy’s toys weren’t able to rescue Woody, Jessie and Bullsyey from the suitcase at the airport in time and they ended up going to Japan? How would that affect the remainder of the events from the series?
I like the idea of looking at more alternate realities, one you should look at is that woody doesnt throw buzz out of the window, definately something you should check out.
I think that had he not been thrown out the window that buzz and woody would not have the same bond they do in the other movies. There might still be misunderstanding and resentment there

Obviously besides the fate of the other toys, that alternate ending where buzz and woody didn’t make it home but they figured out how to survive on their own actually sounds like a good movie, I would definitely watch it, and great storytelling by the way where they get lost what he has a hypothetical question and those two taking care of each other, you’ve got a future in story writing dude

As TS3 takes place, Buzz leads the group as they make the move to attic but the mishap with the trash bags sends them to Sunnyside.
Lotso switches Buzz to demo mode for trying to break out and brainwashed reset Buzz captures the rest of his friends and imprisons them behind the cages. Without Woody's help to switch Buzz back to normal as they don't get access to the Buzz manual via chatter telephone, Rex Slink and the rest of the toys are ruled by Lotso and reset Buzz for the rest of the days.

I personally love Toy Story 4,, not my favorite of the franchise but it's good...
Not everyone has to love it tho.. It has a ton of hate for some reason but I'll have to learn to respect it.
And Forky and Gabby Gabby were good characters and a sweet duo imo from that movie

Although we wouldn't have saw Bo Peep come back but I guess that would've been better as a short or something to people..
I think the main reason people dislike the film is because they wanted the happy ending of the 3rd film to stay permanent - even though it should been known by this point that the franchise doesn’t always play into that trope. I mean, if all happy endings were permanent, we wouldn’t have gotten a sequel to start with.
I agree that Forky and Gabby Gabby were great! The problem that I and others have with TS4 is how it kind of mangles the original characters because the continuation feels unnatural and unnecessary. Like, Bo Peep is practically a different character, Woody abandons his friends just because *Bonnie* doesn’t care about him (which kind of undercuts the ending of 3 where Woody decides to stick with his friends even if Andy moves on), Buzz is made useless and jarringly stupid because the film doesn’t know what to do with him, and the rest of the toys have minimal speaking roles and barely contribute, which doesn’t hold a candle to how they all work together and have their own moments in the first three movies. TS4 also pretty much destroys the suspension of disbelief that humans haven’t found the toys out when they do weird stuff like impersonate the GPS voice and drive around in a skunk car. And I don’t know, the tone just feels different, it’s much more small-scale without a clear climax, and the new characters, while likable, feel kind of out of place to me, so overall it just doesn’t fit or feel like a cohesive part of the story rather than a tacked-on addition. That’s just my opinion though, and I know that a lot of people like it. I don’t want to stop you!

Bonnie may have been what I hated about Toy Story 4 the most. She goes from a sweet child who really loves and cares for all toys, to a selfish little brat who treats Woody with contempt, even stepping on him. It makes no sense that in Toy Story 3 she really begs Andy for Woody, since she already had all the other toys. Woody was a toy that Andy could have passed on to his own children.
True. In my eyes, Toy Story 4 had potential, but it was just made sloppily, had the wrong ending, and somewhat butchered characters.
That ending felt like a punch in the gut

I like this alternative timeline idea. The video is also really well made because it goes over multiple scenarios for the main characters & talks about the fates of the various other characters. Excited to see more.

Ooo I have a theory idea, that is if Finn hasn't covered it yet 😅. Theory idea: What if Po never became the Dragon Warrior? What if one of the Furious Five instead took that title, leaving Po with seemingly no destiny at hand?
Here' a few ideas:
1- What if Timmy Turner never meet Cosmo and Wanda
2- What if Sully never open Boo's door
3- What if the Looney Tunes lost the match in Space Jam
for the farily oddparents au Timmy's would remain miserable and he would eventually become depressed and commit suicide for the monster's inc au Randall would have kidnapped boo with zero issues and she would be subjected to that machine and die for the space jam au the looney tunes would have become slaves along with Michael Jordan who would have been subjected to the exact same thing the main villain of that movie i forgot his name had said he would be forced to do if the villains had won if course they didn't obviously because it's a family movie unfortunately
What if Judy never discovered the truth about Nighthowlers and stopped bellwether? How would it have affected predators not only in zootopia but the rest of the world? Would bellwether have expanded her operations darting predators around the world? Would the shock collars from the original story have become a thing?
What if Anne and her Friends never found the calamity box in the first place?
Do a incredibles theory next, like if Mr incredible let syndrome work for him as a kid or if the incredibles never made it off the island

I don’t know if anyone noticed this, but this theory sounds very similar to how the original version of Toy Story was gonna happen.
In the original version, the story was gonna center around Tinny from the Pixar Short, Tin Toy(which was what helped inspire Toy Story). And in that version, Tinny gets left behind by mistake and he is desperate to find his way home, just like Woody in this theory. Along the way he meets up with other toys that join him on his journey. One of them was an old ventriloquist dummy(which that character would become Woody), and they become good friends, just like how Woody and Buzz got to be friends in this scenario.
I do know if you got some inspiration from that story for this theory Finn, but it’s still a fun fact to think about.

Not just that, they announce it during the audio commentary. I won't pretend I can tell the creators' voices apart, but like one says it was meant to be Sid, while another says no one's going to notice the shirt, but we did it anyways. It's all very official.

Well there is one more alternate fate for Andy’s toys (which considering it’d only be the Potato heads, Rex, Slinky, and Hamm is slightly more likely I suppose) but it is possible Andy just gave all his toys away before the events of Toy Story 3. Though thinking of it, without Woody or Buzz, Andy would be left using the other toys as his heroes, so maybe there’s an alternate reality where… I dunno Hamm becomes Andy’s new favorite and goes to college with him. Though I guess without Hamm to be the brains the other four would be left to be smooshed and turned into plastic pancakes. (Though also with that being said Hamm totally is next in line to be leader. Right?)

You could have considered that bonnie would find Andy's toys, and brought them home
Another possible outcome for Andy's Toys could be that after they escape the trash bag, they get inspired by the army men bailing out early in the movie and decide to leave Andy behind and decided to find a new owner/owner on their own. A stretch is that they possibly meet Woody and/or Buzz on their journey similar to Woody meeting Bo Peep in Toy Story 4. They could even have a point where Mrs. Potato Head finds out that Andy is looking for them and they could head their way back to Andy's House.
It might not be the best ending for Andy's Toys but it would definitely be better than them getting crushed in a garbage truck or being tortured by toddlers for a couple of years.
Side Note: This would also mean that Barbie would still be with Ken as he still gives her special permission to be in the Butterfly Room while she may or may not be aware of what is happening in the Caterpillar Room.
I like this idea. I mean, Sure, The Toys crossing paths with Woody and Buzz may seem impossible, But it’s not, Since Buzz and Woody could literally be anywhere at this point, Since you know, since It’s been 11-12 Years in between the Gap of the First and Third Movies. Let’s hope it’s both of them, But let’s just say it is.
They probably would’ve had a conversation on where they’ve been for that majority amount of time, and then Mrs. Potato Head finds out that Andy actually does care about them at all, and all the Toys, Who take Woody and Buzz with them, back to Andy’s House, Andy find The Toys, and finds Woody and Buzz, and takes one of them, If not both to college with him.

I liked the second ending you had for Toy Story where after accepting that they are now lost toys, I think it would be a better way to show Woody and Buzz’s friendship than the actual film did and them listening to each other’s stories would be a cool concept to see.
It’s amazing to think without these two star characters how large of a ripple effect that changes not only the other characters lives but the movies themselves. I completely agree with you about Toy Story 4 it shouldn’t exist and they should of ended it with the third movie.
