No it doesn't go against the ending of Toy Story 2 in the fourth movie because the storyline isn't about Andy anymore, which is what Woody and Buzz were talking about at the end of the second movie when he was still a kid and he hadn't grown up yet. They belong to Bonnie now in this movie so what they said at the end of Toy Story 2 doesn't matter because Andy already grew up in the previous movie and gave them away to somebody else remember ? jerel it wasn’t about Andy at all. Woody said “When it all ends” meaning that he’ll always be by Buzz’s side, no matter what. If you ask me, ditching him for an old crush goes against that statement
Forget Buzz, how the hell could Woody leave behind Jesse with her clearly crippling abandonment issues? I get that they're more like siblings but her entire arc was getting her friends that she could trust wouldn't leave again. That's why she freaks out every time someone threatens to put her in storage; she thinks she's being abandoned again. And at least then she has all her toy friends. Woody was instrumental in lessening that and then he just goes and fuckin leaves?
@@Hi-yu8cf She obviously does like cowboys or at least cowgirls because Jessie is now her favourite so it doesn’t make sense how Woody isn’t. Andy: *gives woody to bonnie* take care of him.. Bonnie: I will! *yeets him into a closet and probably doesn't care when he just disappears out of nowhere*
That's what so great about it. Little kids have short memories and change favorite toys all the time. Woody being Andy's favorite toy for all that time was a special and unique experience. This story shows that it's not always like that. Woody's getting "the other toys" treatment which makes him change what he wants out of this sentient toy life.
I always wanted to believe the fan theory that Woody was Andy's deceased dad's toy from his childhood in the 1950s. In Toy Story 2 Andy's mom even said "no, that's an old family toy" when the collector tries to buy him. Andy giving Woody away to Bonnie kind of ruined that.
1:45 Jessie has PTSD from being locked in storage for however mny years until Al found Woody, so she in particular is freaking out about being in a dark, confined space for that reason. It's been touched on a couple times, including in Toy Story 2 when she freaks out anout having to go back in the box, and in at least one of the Toy Story Shorts.
CORRECTION: Woody was made in the 1950s, meaning he’s more likely made of _American_ plastic, ergo he’s already where he’s “supposed” to be. However, the point would’ve made more sense if it surrounded Buzz, as in the first film, his arm literally says “Made in Taiwan.”
This movie exists *ding* Seriously, I don't remember anyone after the 3rd movie saying they wanted more. The bookend sequence and everything was perfect.
After Toy Story 3, I was sad not only because of the sad ending, but because I thought there would be no more Toy Story movies. I'm so glad they made a 4th one.
Gets a lot of things wrong... so what? Life’s not perfect. What makes films like this enjoyable and films like The Wrath Of Khan masterful is that everyone makes mistakes. That’s the point.
• So we’ll just gloss past the whole significance of Bo Peep having her arm casually snapped off and just taping it back on allows it to function again?! I know the Potato Heads could have their parts work independently of their body but they were designed as such to be mix-matchable. • I don’t have the greatest memory of the earlier films, but how does Bo Peep’s outfit work? She’s normally in southern belle dress which can move when she becomes animate but how can there be a fully designed undergarment like she wears once the dress she was sculpted in is removed?! Was all her clothing fabric so that the figurine of a lamp could be dressed and undressed like a Barbie doll?? • Buzz’s speech buttons are inconsistent on which one to go to when seeking abstract advice and it was clearly shown that he had only 3 recorded lines that corresponded to each button. He seems to push the exact same one each time for whole swathes of lines never even heard before. • This whole movie rocks the already shaky premise of “toys are alive without you knowing it” by actually going into the question of what is and isn’t a toy by Forky being arts and craft toy now gaining sentience like molded plastic at a Hasbro factory. But if it’s brought about by being played with and imbued with a perception “playing”, what does that mean for my fleshlight or some rich dude’s latex RealDoll which we play with? • How convenient is it the girl the films misleads you into thinking is the one for Gabby just happens to look exactly like girl in the picture book with a purple dress just when it’s conveniently a visual parallel? • So Molly has more than one Barbie in her toy chest?! I understand that completely because girls and what not, but where were they in the 3rd film when only one Barbie was present and nobody acted like she was missing any “sisters” like when Woody mentioned losing friends like Bo Peep between sequels?
Woody in Toy story 2: "In the end, I'll always have Buzz Lightyear by my side, always..." Woody in Toy story 4: *Ditches his friends to live in a trailer park* tO iNfInItY aNd BeYoNd
I remember that, that was the part from the end of the movie when Woody used his voice box to talk to Sid without pulling the string on his back to stop him from blowing up Buzz with the rocket on his back.
darnell harris I thought that too, but even then Forky is a toy, Andy was a kid like Bonnie, there shouldn't be anything in common 😂 unless Forky is technically a "kid" since he was just born 🤔
I think he was saying that watching out for Bonnie was harder than watching out for Andy...but it's only harder because she needs Forky who keeps trying to escape and throw himself away, which doesn't really have to do with Bonnie.
Are we not going to sin the fact that Woody decided to betray his never-changing, be-there-for-my-kid-no-matter-what philosophy despite 3 movies over the course of 18+ years of this being practically the go-to plot?
It's about sentient (sentience is the capacity to feel, perceive or experience subjectively.- Wiki) toys, not about toys that have human like anatomy but are immortal. Your point makes absolutely no sense at all since, him being sentient and having his mouth be/not be on his face have absolutely nothing to do with each other. seriously, Do people like you even properly watch the video or just skim through it, briefly keeping small points in mind while thinking of stupid reasons to hate on said points.
Gameboynitro 9 Wow, I can write a book on far more unnecessary sequels. Pitch Perfect 3, Mean Girls 2, the whole damn rest of the 5-part Fantastic Beasts franchise (all could've been put in 3), etc. While Toy Story 4 is unnecessary, it's at least still good.
The reason for the characters looking “fake” is because there is something off putting and creepy when they look too real,..the animators of Shrek talk about having to fix that problem
I just can’t stand how they completely ruined the moral the movies have made for years: stay loyal to your friends. Oh but a chick comes along and Woody leaves his friends for her 🙄🤦🏻♀️
Buzzlightyear was Woody's best friend. Seeing Woody leaving his friend and his best friend Buzz, made a big hole in my heart. 3 movies explained their relationship. Now seeing this i broke down.
I cried 2 times on this movie - once when Harmony rejected Gabby in SUCH A DISRESPECTFUL MANNER, i felt so bad for her. And in the ending, when Woody left his friends. My childhood, my life, got absolutely STRUCK. I never expected this outcome. I have been torn apart since. I know why i'm sad, but... I can't define it. I felt... happy for Woody, since that is what he wanted, but i felt really sad for his friends, because they lost their best friend. Losing someone you know is my biggest fear and weakness, yet still, I know it's *INEVITABLE*. I LOVE TOY STORY. I am just a kid, a 14 year old boy from Poland, who is really struggling, since next week i have to take exams that will basically define the next 4 years or so for me. Toy Story was always with me, since basically forever. The only other moment that makes me cry is in Toy Story 2, when Jessie shows her backstory with Emily. This franchise *DEFINED MY LIFE*. I am just so glad that these movies were made. Goodbye, you just read through my story, i guess?
@@priscillajimenez27 I suppose it could be seen that way. I think it looks more like denying your purpose. As a toy, he has a specific role to play in life. When we refuse that, we strip ourself of the reason we are here. After the last two films it seems hypocritical.
Ik they could've done the original Andy design but remastered in the film and all the other human designs in previous and also not forgetting bo peep's from the first two movies.
no, the moral is to think beyond yourself and help others, aka selflessness. Woody leaves his friends, his personal life, everything he lives for, so he can help toys and kids that need it. His character development throughout the movie is learning how to care, such as with Gabby and the voice box. He learns to move past his selfish ways and look at things that can help others around him, which is why I thought the ending was great. He left his personal life, not to be with a chick, but to help other lost toys.
@@brianscorner5772 dude, the voice box thing doesn't even make sense. Isn't supposed to still have Woody's phrases? That how voice boxes work. And also, the moral of the 3 original films is that they should stick together as a family. Not with a feminist girl who just became feminist for this movie which i find ridiculous.
His friends wanted him to, though. And Bo wasnt some outsider. She had been with the toys for a long time. Woody deserved some reward for all his selflessness and generosity towards others
Absolutely. This movie definitely focused more on him than other characters. Sure, he’s always been the main toy, but in the first film he split the spotlight with Buzz, and got almost equal time as Jessie, Bullseye, and Pete in part 2, and every major player seemed heavily involved in part 3. But I felt even though the characters we knew were there, they got little attention, because this is Woody’s movie. Even Buzz was reduced to a subordinate role. Even though there no guarantee of 4 being a definite ending to the overall story, it is however the ending to Woody’s story, unless a future part 5 bullshits it’s way into reuniting everyone
I LOVE the Toy Story trilogy. I think the animation and the characters and the story only got BETTER as the films went on. The story was infused with emotion and creativity and charm and these characters became MUCH MORE than mere pixels on a screen. By the end of the third movie, they truly felt like friends. We cared about them....which is why we all cried at Toy Story 3. I was exactly Andy's age when the first Toy Story came out and when Toy Story 3 came out, I was also going off to college (with my Disney movies in a box in my car) and saying goodbye to childhood. So I KNEW how he was feeling. I may be crazy....but I did NOT like Toy Story 4. AT ALL. The animation was stunning, but I didn't care for much of anything else about it. It felt....very cheap and hollow after the journey I have been on with these characters. And there were WAY to many new characters. The second movie introduced 3 characters (2 of whom have remained in the series....Jessie, Bullseye and the Prospector) and we liked Jessie and Bullseye. The third movie introduced a lot of characters, but they were smart in focusing on a select few (like Lotso and Ken and Bonnie's toys so it wasn't so overwhelming). Unlike Buzz and Jessie from 1 and 2, I could not warm up to Forky as a character. I didn't find anything charming or endearing about him. He was literal trash and he made it VERY clear that he didn't want to be there. And I honestly don't remember any of the other characters' names or what made them so necessary to the story. The villain doll was....decent....but then even THAT felt half-baked compared to other villains. I thought the Bo Peep plot line was ABSOLUTELY ridiculous and unneeded....especially them running into her YEARS later because they just HAPPENED to be in the same amusement park. And honestly, as much as they tried to reignite whatever romantic spark was shared between her and Woody, I never ONCE got the impression that she actually still had feelings for Woody. If anything, she seemed almost annoyed by his being there. Like he was an unwelcome intruder in her new life. And this is half the reason that I HATED HATED HATED Woody's decision to go with HER at the end rather than stay with Bonnie. I felt like it went against EVERYTHING that Woody's character has stood for in the last 3 movies. His mantra has always been "Being there for Andy/Bonnie when they need us" and I felt to completely ignore that and choose the girl was a complete insult to his character.....and it felt like a cheap way of writing Woody out of any potential sequels (which lets face it....there ARE going to be more sequels so long as these films make money....because that's all Disney cares about now. Money and sequels/remakes. It was never about being the favorite toy. After all, in the first one, Buzz became the favorite. Honestly, they should have just let the story end at the third one. It was a perfect ending to a perfect trilogy..
I wonder if they’ll make a Toy Story 5, where Bonnie grows up, finds all her old toys and decides to give them away (or something happens, like them going in the wrong box or bag, like before) and then they magically find Woody and Bo. The end.
I thought that the ending was way out of character. I get it that Bonnie doesn't play with him that much, but guess what? As soon as he's gone Bonnie is going to want him again. He essentially "abandons" his friends, and leaves them to deal with forky, who will no doubt probably end up trying to run away, or will get mistaken for trash and thrown out. So yeah. WAYYYYY out of character.
@@theunknown0887 yeah, That's literally the entire plot of Toy Story 2. Even Woody says that he'll be WITH buzz to infinity and beyond, not without. 4 sucks

Im fkn dead: “And you were likely made from Taiwanese plastic, but I dont see you subconsciously booking a fight to Taipei”. Thats it.... thats the best sin in the history of cinema sins
Adrian Matthews while, it is certainly a funny line, it’s not factual. The actual backstory for woody is he was a character from the show “Woody’s Roundup,” and, essentially, they held a contest where they’d release only a certain number of Woodys, and the only way to enter was via buying cereal. The only woody doll ever created was a prototype made in Texas by the American company, and sent to Andy’s father. There’s a great vid by SuperCarlinBrothers called Toy Story 0 about this.
N.P.C 7,000,000,000 in the 1950s, looking historically, definitely not Taipei or really anywhere from Asia. Woody was meant to raise moral during the WWII and Cold War era... so it’s likely that the company wouldn’t source material from countries that were 30 years old and didn’t even begin to have the economy for producing plastics and goods
“Why dose the cat need to be photo realistic but the humans look like lumps of plasticine with facial features” because Cats are way more important than people
I just watched Frozen 2 and the animation when Elsa was trekking in the ocean was beautiful. We shit on cgi but they can make some pretty good effects.

The biggest sin is that Bonnie didn't give two shits about loving the toy most precious to Andy 😭

Andy giving Woody away to Bonnie kind of ruined that.
they managed to make a spork the most relatable character in the movie.

It makes sense why she did, then (I think she did freak out being in the toy box in 3), but why did everyone else?
CORRECTION: Woody was made in the 1950s, meaning he’s more likely made of _American_ plastic, ergo he’s already where he’s “supposed” to be. However, the point would’ve made more sense if it surrounded Buzz, as in the first film, his arm literally says “Made in Taiwan.”
My five-year-old wanted forky... So instead of paying for the actual toy... I made him one... Saved myself $15.

This movie gave the middle finger to all the other movies for a romance plot.

He literally removed so many sins I'm surprised
So moral of the story:
Always leave your friends or family or someone to a girl / boy you love
god no-
no, the moral is to think beyond yourself and help others, aka selflessness.
Ummm.... the toys were completely fine with Woody leaving.
@@brianscorner5772 dude, the voice box thing doesn't even make sense. Isn't supposed to still have Woody's phrases? That how voice boxes work.
@@locha2581 My thoughts exactly.

I just watched Frozen 2 and the animation when Elsa was trekking in the ocean was beautiful. We shit on cgi but they can make some pretty good effects.
Sarah Altieri we shit on cgi in live action, in fully animated films it can be absolutely beautiful! I’m just not a fan of things like cgi animals or people, like the live Beauty and the Beast
Bonny breaking her promise to Andy (although this could be forgiven as her being a little kid not understanding the significance of Andy's speech)
The main toys (except Buzz, Jessie) not getting much screen time
Woody leaving the toys to be with Bo (depending on how you look at it)
8:56 *sees Tin Toy and gets Vietnam flashbacks*
Tintoy: *sees Woody* how ironic fate can be

The only wrong part is that i'm 24 and cried like a baby
