5:51 actually there’s one more gripe with Scapes (at least among photographers), which is that many Scapes don’t bother modeling light sources. Let’s say your IRL car is parked under a street lamp at night. If you move your car around the street light, you expect the shadows to move around like a sun-dial. GT6's track editor ended up showing how the GT5 jump tracks happened. When you place many corner markers very close to each other on a hill, the track elevation freaks out and creates a jump. This was patched in a later version of the app, but at that point the modded versions had been already made so the tracks only got even more insane. I still remember encountering a modded track with a huge vertical climb (The Devil's Elbow, for those who know) for the first time in a online race. The room's name was something like "HUGE JUMP 1000M", I thought it was exaggerating but when the massive hill appeared in I lost my mind lol
I'm one of those weirdos who play GT's Arcade Modes. No, I don't mean pick a rental car and track and go. I always thought that Sophy might be the gateway to the implementation of B spec somehow. Like it would be a neat addition like not only does the b spec driver level up through experience but also may have it that you could train it by racing against them. Or even better, imagine a multiplayer mode where everyone is in b spec.
I also think that maybe if you build your own race car out of a road car, they could actually allow that into race car races using requirements, like your car needs to have wide body and splitters installed and at least stage two weight reduction or something, and then it'll apply BOP to it when you enter the race to make sure that it fits with the rest of the opponents
You could then re-add Racing Modifications as a sort of pre-built tuning bundle system that adds the required parts for specific events. For example, the Mustang he mentions in the video could have RMs for Group 4, Group 3 and Rally that change the car into the respective race versions. It wouldn't include a livery, but then again with the Livery Editor in GT7 that's not a problem, really.
@@Tyrranis I mean I think that kinda falls into the trap of now it's basically just the gr3 and gr4 cars that are in the dealership. If they keep it kinda loose, everyone can make whatever car suits their fancy, or they can just buy the gr3 or gr4 variant if they wish. PD doesn't really need to dedicate resources to prepackaging and livery-ing every car in the game when they could just make basic requirements for the events
I just LOVED playing endurance races with B-Spec stints to make it feel more immersive. I would love it so much if we could have GT Sophy as a “teammate” in a prospective GT8
YES YES YES YES THANK YOU My God, shuffle mode in GT5 online races was SO MUCH fun. I think most players didn't even realize it existed, but I remember that when I created shuffle mode rooms back then, people took a long time to leave...
@@cesarfelipe7138 the great equaliser. no practice, no tuning, no tire choice. usually not even abs. just seat-of-the-pants adjusting to a standing start race in a random unfamiliar car on road tires. the only online racing that i ever really stuck around for. i couldn’t believe it when i went searching for it in gt6. and gts. and gt7. sigh.
The course maker should return, with not only the ability to let players unleash their creativity, but also a tool to help you create a circuit (and also show Polyphony how to recreate a classic track *cough* Grand Valley), if you ever have difficulty or you don't know where to start creating your circuit, the game can help you or create a circuit for you, so that you can have a base and make the modifications that you want to do.
Biggest gripes with the mods in GT7 is that despite the full racecar look you can give to any given model, the interior is still regular road car stuff so it doesn't look racey at all, save for the rollcage.
From what I recall in GT6 they planned a GPS app that would let you make tracks while you drive, walk, bike, ect. I do remember a trailer of a BMX rider doing tricks and it turned it into a track. I wish I could find that trailer
@@generalgrievous6648 well, kind of. Those events really piss me off. PD claimed prior to release they were including various racing disciplines including drag racing. We got 3 or 4 events against the same cars. Your time is only saved if you beat your best. No tree, no 0-60 or top speeds, no burnout box etc etc. it’s an afterthought. They could’ve easily added it as a full feature of the game. Maybe even included specific parts. The one thing they should have done is add proper drag racing lobbies online. It’s one of the most popular things for people to do in lobbies ever since online racing has existed.
If they just release a Single Player Career with the current cars for GT7 with events like GT4 it would sell like water, I still don't understand why they don't do this. If they want to sell ingame cash for people buying cars for online play, they could even make a separate car collection so you could not use those for online and I would still buy it.
I really hope they do add a Photo Travel mode to GT7 or even 8. I feel like both can co-exist, especially since scapes appeal to beginner photographers in the game (since they're just still pics), while the 3D areas appeal to the more experienced photomode users (just look at the replay photos people have made). That and leaving them as menu books backgrounds is a really weird decision, the game can handle the locations AND multiple cars in them at the same time, even on base ps4s (although some lag happens, not unexpected)
I loved B-Spec mode in the older games. As someone who works 40+ hours a week, I don't have the time to play games as much as I'd want to. Being able to set my B-Spec driver to a 24-hour race of Le Mans or Nordschleife and then just come back later was such a great help. I'm struggling to acquire cars in GT7 right now because the most viable method I've found requires 30 minutes of my free time and there's still a chance I lose the clean race bonus or finish outside 1st. Even if I win it all and get the bonus, it's only 850,000 Credits, not even enough for a VGT car.
The course maker in GT6 was immense and the iPad app worked quite well. So much so, I had a to-scale replica of Abu Dhabi GP circuit, Oulton Park and Road America. We need this back in GT7!
I wonder if they could put it on regular phones instead of just tablets if they made it today. Of course that still doesn't help with playing the tracks after closing the servers, but I don't know how they'd make such a versatile system that's usable with a PS controller either.
I personally would like the Racing Modifications has a GT Auto upgrade that installs more Racing gear into the interior like Racing seats, a lightweight steering wheel and if Polyphony feels like daring; remove interior parts to look like their created Gr.4 and Gr.3 cars, but with also a plus of adding a bigger fuel tank around 100L like the race cars that are into the game, making it a viable option to endurance races where fuel consumption is part of the equation. That's why in GT7 both race cars and rally cars swaps works so well on races like WTC700 Le Mans or Sardegna, because along with the engine, they also install the swapped car's fuel tank
B-spec was useful in GT4 and interesting in GT5. I'd love to see it return with a combination of the features from both games, but it's premature to talk of bringing it back to GT7 when we don't even have a proper set of endurance races.
i think b-spec is important for one thing in gt7: grinding. as cheap a trick as it is, it'd be a very nice option in gt7, considering the high priced cars in the legend dealership and general issues surrounding earning credits in that game
I loved the B-spec in GT4. It's great for grinding money. You also forgot a feature in GT4, the training before each race. Training is at the same time the qualifying. So you can start on the first position, which itself is perfect for B-spec.
I know this isn’t a returning feature, but what do you guys think about an endgame mode? So you’ve bought your first GT4 car? Why not have full championship seasons in your region of choice: North America, Europe, or Asia Have Practice, Qualifying, and Race on 10+ courses per season against hard AI. Earn points in a championship based on the WEC points system. Keep getting better and soon you’ll win a race here and there. Earn driver ratings from Bronze to Gold like real WEC drivers. Once you earn these ratings you can get contracts from driving teams to race GT4, GT3, LMP3, LMP2, GTP, etc. and eventually the WEC. All of these championships can be selected as a sprint or endurance race championship. The point for progressing would be a badge next to your gamer tag on every online lobby as well as rewarding legendary cars for winning certain events like the 24hrs of Le Mans or Daytona.
I always wanted to play with my garage cars in gt4 arcade mode just like gt3 , but i can see why it wouldn't work giving the fact that the game allows you to test drive your cars in whatever track you want in gt mode as long as you pay a symbolic amount of credit , but the option of being able to test your modified car against your friend's modified car that brought his memory card with him would've been very nice , another feature being of course the progression system in gt3's arcade mode
“B spec with Sophy Ai” I can’t tell you how disappointed I am with the Ai in GT7. Knowing this is advancing now gives me great hope for B Spec and close AI races in the next title
I remember using b spec mode on gt6 for afk money grinding. Maxed out Nissan gtr on special stage route x, I even memorized the the button combination to get back to racing without even looking at the TV. Good times those were
How to have B-Spec enjoyment in GT5 by Pawlikos: 1. Enter a race in an overpowered car 2. Wait for your driver to get into the lead 3. Watch other AI battle 4. Enjoyment
I recall when GT6 launched, there was supposed to be a feature in the track maker facility that would let you use your phone to record a GPS route (i.e your morning commute) upload that to the game and then drive it. I was so disappointed that it was never implemented.
That last feature mentioned would be so awesome. Bringing all the different race body mods from all versions to pick and choose from would be the best update I could think of! Love this channel.
In GT2, you still get an additional weight reduction from a racing modification if I'm not mistaken, but it's still not worth applying to many low-spec cars. As for the rest of your argument against racing modifications in favour of modularity, I'm in full agreement.
Wish they added the 100 hp go karts and the circuit of citta di aria or a wider remake bc it would be cool to go fast on a 100hp rc car, and a track maker would make the showcase/workshop much more exciting to just download track remakes or imaginary ones, and use them in online making players download them to play in your lobby.
B-spec was good for grinding for cash and that was about it. In GT4 there was a high payout race at Le Man's that once you got the ai driver leveled up enough, you would put on the race in B-spec mode and turn off the TV. Come back in a couple of hours and voila, cash.
Finally, somebody else likes the GT6 course maker. Being able to use Google earth to exactly import track layout and then detail width, bank, rum lestrips, etc., for each corner. I think the user community had more fun creating tracks, as they do with creating liveries😊
so I just rebooted my PS2 and GT4 this week and I'm literally midb-spec all Japan gt championship then this video dropped. I knew b spec had to be in here
The GT6 B-spec mode could be good for better accessibility for those who may struggle with using a controller because of a disability. Now, if that was the purpose of the B-Spec mode in GT6, idk, but you could argue the car turning and somewhat driving itself could benefit accessibility.
I think we kinda need b spec in gt7 because the economy is so broken that i need to do the afk lake louise trick combined with the srt Daytona trick to get some decent money. They could actually fix the economy instead to make it less tedious, but b spec would be a good alternative i think
speaking of GT7 economy, i always had a suspicion that Hagerty is being picked as a sponsor for GT7 in game price aggregator for nothing more than to encourage more MTX,.
Something GT4 does that I wish was in every racing game is a “track day” mode. Just running time trials in the track with absolutely random other cars and driver skills. I even have an idea for a whole game that focuses on the local track day version of racing instead of professional racing. It’s just too dang fun and I love it so much.
In gt7, you can build a race car out of a street car. I build a stock r32 skyline that can compete with gr1 cars and 900lp cars if you drive well. You just need to do an engine swap to the race engine to be less fuel consuming. Than you max out the car with all tuning options you have (especially the extreme tuning options that you can do after reaching level 50). And then you have to adjust the suspension properly and max out the downforce. Its something you can do with a lot of cars in gt7. And then you can create your own livery. If you ask me, its even the better option. Its not just pressing a button. You really have to test the car multiple times on track, until you found the perfect suspension settings. You can be lazy and watch a youtube tutorial too if you dont have the time and nerves for it. I did it too with some cars. But its really rewarding if you build your car perfectliy by your own.
I swear there was a track editor feature that would take GPS coordinates and you could "trace" your movement in the real world to create a track in game. Imagine being able to drive your favorite backroad and put it in GT to drive it with whatever car you want. That's the dream, right?
While not that in depth, Modnation racers kinda had a "Drive to build" for their track editor. Maybe made recreations not the easiest, but at least you could pretty intuitively makes something that worked. And could change elevation too.
I thought for sure GT7 would bring back Photo Travel along with Scapes. I know everyone wanted to take photos with the car transport with the chrome interior from the launch trailer.
I love B-spec so much. God, I want it to return. I really enjoyed trying out different cars for different events to see how they'd do. I didn't think it was boring at all.
What GT(7) needs: - More tracks/races - Racing Mods (or Works conversions like in the NFS Shift series) - Awards for Silver - Cars as awards for certain races - Generelly cars, that cannot be bought, but have to be earned (racing, championship, etc.) - Qualifying/Grid start in single player mode - B Spec - Constructor's races/championships like in GT4 - 1 or 2 modern F1 cars would be nice - (more) endurance races for single player and online - Concept cars (not Vision GT) like the Nike Car from GT4 (I fully expected them to add it to GT7, since it's a "2022" car and much more, but what I miss most in GT7 is the grind compared to say GT4. I never managed to get gold on everything in GT4 and I hated, but also loved the grind, some cars, I still haven't unlocked. It felt much more special, even getting the mose useless cars from the most useless races was kinda fun back then, I miss that.
On your RM idea, while I like that, I think it could still be combined with racing modifications in the sense of, you can buy your mustang, upgrade it how you want to, and it remains as a "road" car (or maybe unhomologated, perhaps a better term), or alternatively you can buy the Gr.4 racing modification and it puts the standard body kit and upgrades, and you then could use it for Gr.4 events (it'd be homologated for Gr.4). The ammount of race cars there are in Gr.4 and 3, and even 2, there would be plenty of cars with RMs available for them. I think it'd better match the feeling on GT1 and GT2 of you buying your base spec car, using it on lower tier events, upgrading it as you progressed through, and eventually buying the RM for the higher tier events, having that attachment with your car as it's been with you as you moved up in the career. Of course that would work better with a career mode that was made for such a thing, not car menus.
A very important feature many people don't know are GT4 timed races. GT3, 5, 6, Sport, and 7 use timed races where your final lap is given when the timer hits zero but the leader isn't the one who finishes first which leads to interesting results to say the least. GT4 uses timed races where your final lap is given when the timer hits zero and the leader is the one who finishes first like IRL endurance races. This is very important feature because GT7 has 13 timed races in both World Circuits and Missions and if they want to challenge the player (The Human Comedy comes into mind), they need to implement GT4 timed races so the player gets challenged through the entire race.
GT5 shuffle races were my life back then aswell as all the popular drift lobbies! Always ran a clean racing shuffle lobby most nights never failed the fill up the server in minutes
I liked Photo Travel in GT4. They should of revamped into Video Travel. It would of been cool to make your own custom music videos. Or fictional type automotive ads.
I absolutely loved the teammate game mechanic back in racedriver grid, it completely changes the way you play. And i think that would be the most fun way of implementing b-spec in gt7. Another way could be focusing even more on the managerial side, and adding b-spec in a separated mode similar to the f1 manager games.
A note regarding the racing modifications and your assertion that it's no longer relevant because of how extensively you can modify your cars; yes, they _look_ like race cars in most cases, but for many of those cases they still handle like road cars and can't acheive anything near the grip levels of the actual race cars. The aftermarket wings and splitters for many of them don't generate nearly as much downforce as they really should, with some cars having half the maximum downforce of even a Gr.4 car. Then there's the fuel issue, where most road cars are completely non-viable for races where fuel consumption is a factor unless that car happens to have an engine swap that comes from a race car, in which case the donor car's apparent fuel capacity is carried over.
I've done a few things with the GT5 course maker back in the day and what I still remember as the biggest challenge was making a fun track where the AI wouldn't constantly fly off in at least one turn.
The Photo Travel can easily be implemented into Scapes by importing the files from older games and the ones from VR and just putting a 3D badge on it, so i hope Polyphony does it soon.
IMO, an actual offline mode is the most important feature which should return to GT.

Happy to see a new gran turismo upload after quite some time
Having all cars available as rental cars in the Arcade Modes would be a number one feature everyone would really like to see returning.
My most missed gt shit:
Rm cars.
Cita di Aria.
Shuffle races.
Race modification converting a variety of older cars to Gr. 4 spec similar to the Silvia S15 would be a good feature.
without yet watching the video: SHUFFLE RACING my god i miss it so much.
YES YES YES YES THANK YOU
My God, shuffle mode in GT5 online races was SO MUCH fun. I think most players didn't even realize it existed, but I remember that when I created shuffle mode rooms back then, people took a long time to leave...
@@cesarfelipe7138 the great equaliser. no practice, no tuning, no tire choice. usually not even abs. just seat-of-the-pants adjusting to a standing start race in a random unfamiliar car on road tires. the only online racing that i ever really stuck around for. i couldn’t believe it when i went searching for it in gt6. and gts. and gt7. sigh.
Just said that myself before video even started. .... Loved it
The course maker should return, with not only the ability to let players unleash their creativity, but also a tool to help you create a circuit (and also show Polyphony how to recreate a classic track *cough* Grand Valley), if you ever have difficulty or you don't know where to start creating your circuit, the game can help you or create a circuit for you, so that you can have a base and make the modifications that you want to do.
Biggest gripes with the mods in GT7 is that despite the full racecar look you can give to any given model, the interior is still regular road car stuff so it doesn't look racey at all, save for the rollcage.
Exactly.
From what I recall in GT6 they planned a GPS app that would let you make tracks while you drive, walk, bike, ect. I do remember a trailer of a BMX rider doing tricks and it turned it into a track. I wish I could find that trailer
We truly need the Editor and a lot of unique GT Origina Tracks
Honourable mention to the Machine Test feature. It’s the closest we ever got to drag racing.
Uhm, GT7's missions have proper drag races with both cars starting when the light turns green and which also force you to use manual shifting
15:43 oh baby that would be a great video discussing that game
If they just release a Single Player Career with the current cars for GT7 with events like GT4 it would sell like water, I still don't understand why they don't do this.
If they want to sell ingame cash for people buying cars for online play, they could even make a separate car collection so you could not use those for online and I would still buy it.
I miss Track Creator & B-Spec man. The OG race modification was cool too bc of the surprise factor. Remember the Intrepid becoming a dragster? Lol
12:12 Rare footage of Polyphony making Grand Valley Highway.
All of that seems convincing, but I just want the Pontiac Vibe from GT4 back.
In my opinion, the return of course maker would make GT7 Online a lot more replayable.
B-Spec and Course maker need to return. Loved both immensely.
Racing Mods YES
-body parts customization
B-spec was useful in GT4 and interesting in GT5. I'd love to see it return with a combination of the features from both games, but it's premature to talk of bringing it back to GT7 when we don't even have a proper set of endurance races.
I miss the ability to qualify so you don't have to start in last place. B spec shouldn't be that hard to implement either.
The way that track renders on the fly in those hacked GT6 courses at 13:37 reminds me of NFS2:SE back in the day :D
i think b-spec is important for one thing in gt7: grinding. as cheap a trick as it is, it'd be a very nice option in gt7, considering the high priced cars in the legend dealership and general issues surrounding earning credits in that game
I loved the B-spec in GT4. It's great for grinding money.
You also forgot a feature in GT4, the training before each race. Training is at the same time the qualifying. So you can start on the first position, which itself is perfect for B-spec.
That’s why sometimes I still play Racedriver: GRID. It was released around 15 years ago and still has some features that are not common nowadays
I know this isn’t a returning feature, but what do you guys think about an endgame mode?
So you’ve bought your first GT4 car?
Why not have full championship seasons in your region of choice:
North America, Europe, or Asia
Have Practice, Qualifying, and Race on 10+ courses per season against hard AI.
Turning road cars into racings cars in GT7 is clearly the best part of GT7, I hope they will expand the possibilities in future games
“B spec with Sophy Ai”
I can’t tell you how disappointed I am with the Ai in GT7. Knowing this is advancing now gives me great hope for B Spec and close AI races in the next title
I remember using b spec mode on gt6 for afk money grinding.
Maxed out Nissan gtr on special stage route x, I even memorized the the button combination to get back to racing without even looking at the TV. Good times those were
40 seconds in and can't stop thinking about Pike's Peak
How to have B-Spec enjoyment in GT5 by Pawlikos:
1. Enter a race in an overpowered car
2. Wait for your driver to get into the lead
3. Watch other AI battle
My 2 biggest wishes are livery editor and showroom in full VR.
WE NEED COURSE MAKER FROM GT5 IN GT7 ASAP!!!
B spec with the promise of those endurance races and Sophy would be awesome.
I miss how GT5 racing modified cars had actual race car interiors, just as much as I miss the small interior modifications from GT6
Honestly if they brought back track creators, I’d be happy, remaking famous tracks from movies, or real life
RACEDRIVER GRID DS MENTIONNED ?!
The day i learnt that GT5 and GT6 had a course maker was the day my mind imploded and exploded
A feature I would like to have back in GT7 is
Rays Vesta "Strawberry" wheels.
so I just rebooted my PS2 and GT4 this week and I'm literally midb-spec all Japan gt championship then this video dropped. I knew b spec had to be in here
B-spec should return in the series it was nice to do managerial races
36:49 Let me introduce to you: BeamNG!
Bspec for gt6 seems to be a brillant idea for accesibility,
The GT6 B-spec mode could be good for better accessibility for those who may struggle with using a controller because of a disability.
@@alrecks619 honestly wouldn't surprise me
Something GT4 does that I wish was in every racing game is a “track day” mode.
I enjoyed the B-spec mode in GT4. It felt like you were a race engineer, and it was a fresh approach compared to what was around at the time
I swear there was a track editor feature that would take GPS coordinates and you could "trace" your movement in the real world to create a track in game. Imagine being able to drive your favorite backroad and put it in GT to drive it with whatever car you want. That's the dream, right?
Not me doing laps in my hometown and making a course out of that
I vividly remember that was supposed to be added in the future of GT6. I was so psyched for it but it never happened.
Yes there is. There's a trailer for it on the GT TH-cam channel.
If I'm correct, they did a demo with a Toyota 86 around Fiji speedway
While not that in depth, Modnation racers kinda had a "Drive to build" for their track editor. Maybe made recreations not the easiest, but at least you could pretty intuitively makes something that worked. And could change elevation too.
I'd take Racing Modifications 1000000 times over B-Spec. For real.
I thought for sure GT7 would bring back Photo Travel along with Scapes. I know everyone wanted to take photos with the car transport with the chrome interior from the launch trailer.
I didn’t watched the video but i’m already agree with you,all of these things from the past should return.gt7 has no soul...
GT3 replay video editor. My son and I spent hours changing songs and video playback styles to have the coolest playbacks ever seen.
I love B-spec so much. God, I want it to return. I really enjoyed trying out different cars for different events to see how they'd do. I didn't think it was boring at all.
As well as b spec bring back GT5 version to save race when entering pits 7:23
What GT(7) needs:
- More tracks/races
- Racing Mods (or Works conversions like in the NFS Shift series)
- Awards for Silver
- Cars as awards for certain races
- Generelly cars, that cannot be bought, but have to be earned (racing, championship, etc.)
- Qualifying/Grid start in single player mode
- B Spec
- Constructor's races/championships like in GT4
- 1 or 2 modern F1 cars would be nice
- (more) endurance races for single player and online
- Concept cars (not Vision GT) like the Nike Car from GT4 (I fully expected them to add it to GT7, since it's a "2022" car
and much more, but what I miss most in GT7 is the grind compared to say GT4.
Of course that would work better with a career mode that was made for such a thing, not car menus.
yeaaaaaah I could B-spec all day, it was so fkn good
A very important feature many people don't know are GT4 timed races.
F1 Manager is basically a game all about B-spec, all they need to do is to look at what said series did correctly and implement that
A note regarding the racing modifications and your assertion that it's no longer relevant because of how extensively you can modify your cars; yes, they _look_ like race cars in most cases, but for many of those cases they still handle like road cars and can't acheive anything near the grip levels of the actual race cars.
I didn’t know until now that the ability to change between A and B Spec in GT4 wasn’t something everyone could do
We need the track builder and the RM's back. The RM'S Can be gr.4 cars
I miss Used Wheels 😔
I've done a few things with the GT5 course maker back in the day and what I still remember as the biggest challenge was making a fun track where the AI wouldn't constantly fly off in at least one turn.
The Photo Travel can easily be implemented into Scapes by importing the files from older games and the ones from VR and just putting a 3D badge on it, so i hope Polyphony does it soon.
Racing mods were the best!
