Yeah, it's a movie that gets better with each repeated viewing. It's might just be the least divisive entry in the MonsterVerse, and if it is, I can definitely see why.
Such a regret of mine to have missed the theatrical release of this movie. That shot with Kong in the sunset while the Choppers are facing him, (I suppose) was insane to watch
And this is how you do epic level cinematography and sound editing. Those shots are among the best in cinema history. It's a ballet of helicopters, someone knew how to have fun with this scene.
I love how after the first helicopter is downed the music fades back in briefly only to be stopped abruptly after kong swats the second helicopter out of the air, its excellent sound design, great way to build a false relief only to pull the rug out from the audience

Sure they probably shouldn’t be using Fox as their groups callsign because of the reason you mentioned, but they technically aren’t using it wrong for their situation, as I have to believe these Hueys weren’t equipped with Infrared Missiles
In Vietnam they knew there were enemies, they were expecting gunfire, they were expecting RPGs, they were prepared and ready for the fight....But here, in a no-man's land, who would've thought that something is gonna fire a tree on their helicopter 😂

Excellent movie, with a simple and entertaining presence. It's reminiscent of older action movies. Entertainment is the first objective, not everything needs a theme or a message, you're allowed to have a simple shoot-em-up popcorn fueled adventure once in awhile.
Some of my favorite films are Godzilla 2014 and Kong 2017, Kong 2017 brings mystery, terror and suspense at the same time (incredible sensation) Godzilla 2014 is darker, also mysterious, giant and Terrifying and scary, I love these two films (not like the new ones are bad, I like the new ones too) but these two films brought a unique feeling!!
