also most movies use night fight scenes to hide bad cgi but pacific rim uses them to its advantage by giving the jaegers headlamps and making the kaiju bioluminescent. they glow against the darkness
01:02 This is my favourite part of the movie where Gipsy Danger is walking past all the tall buildings when she is looking for Otachi. It's a great way to show the scale and size of these mechs, when they are walking. It's so COOL!!! THIS MOVIE IS SO COOL!!!
Kaiju blood is toxic. Hence why most of the weapons are based on concussive force or heat rather than bladed edges. But when it comes down to the wire and they’re out of options, time for the blades. The only real exception to this rule is Crimson Typhoon, who’s main attacks are shallow cuts and slashes designed to bleed their opponent. Which is kinda dumb when you realize they actually had a plasma cannon like Gipsy danger, but never used it in the film. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@ggibby0450 The movie never mentions anything about Kaiju blood being so toxic that they'd want to avoid using bladed weaponry. The movie also shows scientists/scavengers handling the fresh corpse and organs of a Kaiju without even having gloves or facemasks on. So I don't think there's any reasonable way to explain why they didn't just use the sword right away instead of smacking it with a boat and punching it. This is just not the kind of movie where you're supposed to think logically about every single detail.
Simple, it's because railey never knew that gipsy danger has a new weapon. During the first scene of the movie, gipsy danger only has plasma cannon as a weapon. When Gipsy danger was destroyed and being fixed, the engineers added a sword. That's why when they used the sword mako said "wait, there's something left".
It's the basic kaiju fighting formula. Why doesn't Ultraman, Megazord, Voltron etc. break out their their swords and finish off the villains right off the bat? Why do they have to go through several rounds of punching, kicking, and falling before they break out the final finishing move?
It´s the small details that really make you feel the size of these things. I especially love the "slow" walk of Gipsy Danger. The way the water just gets blasted off it because what at that size looks like a slow walk is actually moving at whats probably close to highway speed.
0:45 I love the detail of Gypsy almost looking like she's catching her breath. Great reminder that there's people in there. Also I love how heavy the jog to catch up with Otachi feels.
An interesting detail as to why Raleigh didn't know about the sword, was because it was a _VERY_ recent installation of Gypsy. According to the lore, Mako's family actually _developed_ many of the Jaeger weaponry, and the sword was something Mako personally added to Gypsy Danger. The reason she didn't tell Raleigh was because there wasn't any time to do so. Once she "Chased the Rabbit", she expected to be pulled off the Jaeger Program, so she didn't expect Gypsy to be deployed... ...And once the battle got heated, well, Mako just didn't have time to tell Raleigh, and to be honest, when putting the close quarters of the city into consideration, as well as how _easily_ it sliced Otachi like a well-cooked ham, the sword would have trashed the city as much as it would have killed Otachi. In fact, people tend to forget that the whole reason the Jaegers were built was because any other option was too Destructive. Nuclear Bombs sent toxic "Kaiju Blue" in a widespread area, leaving whole entire regions uninhabitable, and most of the affected regions were pretty close to areas like NASA, so you couldn't just launch a space program to hammer the Kaiju from Orbit either. And before you ask, the whole reason I brought up Nuclear Bombs? Because HISHE liked to ignore that it was already explained in Pacific rim that they _TRIED_ Nukes before... And it caused too much damage.
@@avairal5936 I mean I can see why you'd say that but tbh the comparison is kinda unfair since the monsters in this movie are almost always in the dark while thanos had to look good in much brighter lighting as well as conveying human emotions.

Man the attention to detail they used for this movie is amazing. You can see gipsy making small head movements when the kaiju spits acid, as if it was analyzing it and processing it like a person (people are controlling it but still) they didn’t have to add that but they did, and since they used the coolant to cut off the tail the AI says that the temperature is critical and in a later scene you’ll see that the coolant levels are low

2:42 Badass...
Doomsayer Vibes right there
I love that part
Came here just to watch that part
I even heard the sound of the fingers cracking somehow
The cgi in this movie is just so much better than any other movies. Change my mind.
Gotta love ILM.
also most movies use night fight scenes to hide bad cgi but pacific rim uses them to its advantage by giving the jaegers headlamps and making the kaiju bioluminescent. they glow against the darkness
It's not necessarily the best but the way they cover up stuff that might look rough in broad daylight is definitely some of the best
when otachi releases her wings is just amazing
0:43 When you realise the size and strength of that machine.
01:02 This is my favourite part of the movie where Gipsy Danger is walking past all the tall buildings when she is looking for Otachi. It's a great way to show the scale and size of these mechs, when they are walking. It's so COOL!!! THIS MOVIE IS SO COOL!!!
Every time I watch this scene I just think, “Why didn’t they open with the sword?” 😂😂😂 so badass
@@ggibby0450 I never knew Crimson Typhoon had a plasma cannon… makes me irritated knowing that now. What a badass mech that was.
"For my family!" as they bisect the kaiju is so cool and still brings tears to my eyes sometimes 😂
Best robot action fight ever!
3:26 I've seen this movie many times including in theatre, never noticed the blue moon before, nice touch on Guillermo's part.
Excellent upload guys
It is good movie in 3d ???
Dude, i never noticed too.
What's the significance of the blue moon?
@@Blockistium i want to know too
@@AmiralAkainu you wont regret it
It´s the small details that really make you feel the size of these things.
3:45 did anyone noticed they used Snapdragon for the display?😅
Bruh
Qualcomm snapdragon i saw that
Pure Mobile processing power
Yeah that thing need true power 😂
I was gonna say the same thing 😂😂
We will never get to experience films like these anymore 😭
HDR really shines in this clip
4:52 ooooooohh!! Super hero landing!
Pure epicness. When writing, filming, casting, choreography and cg come together for perfection.
2:44
This was the best part
I adore the sound design - when he walks over the camera with that train horn sound from his motors, it's magnificent
3:48 did anyone notice that the monitors are using the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors😂
This movie is full of small details. They were looking for perfection in each frame
i dont care who you are, this is the coolest thing ever put to anything
This is one of the most badass and smile making movies ever.
big & huge, slow & powerful...
this scene is pure identity of pacific rim

Raleigh: we're all about to smacked up
Mako: no, (Japanese language)
Raleigh: what the hell are you talking about?
Raleigh does speak japanese what a weeb
Raleigh also speaks japanese
2:15 POV:Your trying to take out the object your dog has in its mouth
relatable
damn, im late to the party yet still relatable
this movie had better consistent cgi than the avengers infinity war
The monsters in this movie has better CGI then Thanos
@@avairal5936 I mean I can see why you'd say that but tbh the comparison is kinda unfair since the monsters in this movie are almost always in the dark while thanos had to look good in much brighter lighting as well as conveying human emotions.
The editor of this movie is a bloody legend!
The low camera angle shot with Gipsy dragging the boat-bat across the ground with that iconic BGM is one of my fav scenes in all of cinema.
Its literally not possible to make a better movie scene than this
I'm 22 rn. But there's just something about giant robots fighting kaiju creatures that makes my inner 10 year old happy
2:12 "imma need that big dawg"
Watching this in theaters was best described as transformative.
This movie is basically what every little kid who played with giant robot toys was picturing in their head.
Gipsy danger slicing otachi in half never gets old
It is so hard to make CGI feel like it has weight, so huge props to the CGI artists because I feel every single blow
this movie should have made billions.
Best one on one Kaiju fight of all time. No contest.
This is one of those movies where the CGI doesn’t look “realistic” but it looks amazing.
It definitely looks more realistic than whatever crap marvel shits out Tbh
@@qibcentricsplayground2043 well that’s a low bar lol
@@jackpackage4278 to be fair marvel's cgi was banging for the iron man trilogy
@@qibcentricsplayground2043 Marvel definitely has some good CGI but nothing good since phase 3 imo, except maybe Guardians 3 and the last Spider-Man movie.
Whatsoever do you mean? Do YOU know what it would look like watching a giant robot beat the ever-living shit out of a giant monster?
Because this is EXACTLY how I think it would look to watch a gundam beat the shit out of a monster.
this movie was off the charts awesome. i donno how they pulled it off but they did
the sense of scale and weight in this movie is unmatched. How did they get it so right the first time, and then completely balls it up afterwards?
The uprising is more "for children" and more comedy than this.
I agree, I feel as if they just wanted to make a transformer movie lol
it so so so bad ....
they should make 'pacific rim 2' again correctly
@@maemi814 I'm honestly irritated enough that I might find a copy of the plotline and... fix it.
Mako deserved better. She'll get better.
@@maemi814 And let's pretend uprising never happened.
The lighting and colors in the night scenes still look sooooo good.
3:34 didnt knew GLaDOS was there.
It's the same voice actor! If I recall Del Toro or someone else on the team really liked the voice of GLaDOS and was also a Portal fan, so they ended up hiring Ellen McLain for the movie.
I have watched this movie like 50 times and will keep watching! Damn
3:33 did hey use Glados Voice?
When I was young I always asked my father to play these on the tv using cd's and dvd's, so nostalgic.
I love how Rileigh say I'll hold them. since he solo piloted before.
I have this on 4K UHD Blu-ray and I give the visuals a 10 and for the Dolby Atmos sound-audio mix, I would also have to give it a 10 as well.. the quality of Pacific Rim (2013) is a *10/10*
3:03 the music is so ominous and scary
I really like watching these fights after such a long time, we really were robbed of a sequel
I just clicked the video and there wasn't even a second wasted. The bgm just kicked in within a millisecond and i just went "oh yeahhhh"
That low key metallic guitar 🎸 sounds very mechy. I couldn't resist replaying it 5 times over.
Yep, I'm definitely about to re-watch the movie after watching this. 📽 🖥
Man the attention to detail they used for this movie is amazing. You can see gipsy making small head movements when the kaiju spits acid, as if it was analyzing it and processing it like a person (people are controlling it but still) they didn’t have to add that but they did, and since they used the coolant to cut off the tail the AI says that the temperature is critical and in a later scene you’ll see that the coolant levels are low
did you notice the AIs voice is glados from portal?
A 2013 has better than 90% of 2023 movies
This movie is so good. And it's a good thing it doesn't have a sequel.
3:55 I didn't know GLaDOs was in the movie
Lol
Mako was an absolute Queen here.
Once she started speaking anime, you know that thing was done for.
I use this clip everytime I wanna test if a monitor is good or not
Well underrated
I will never forget the Day my Dad came home with this Movie put it on the tv and then idk 8 year old me or smth Saw this Bigass Robot fuck up an Bigass Lizard with a Ship as a Bat. Doesnt get more Hell yeah than that.
Imagine a Godzilla crossover....
If only they would stop cutting away from Godzilla in those films
If godzilla was in the Pacific rim universe he would just flick the kaiju and boom they'd be dead.
They're owned by the same studio. It could have been possible if Uprising didn't take a dump all over itself.
Well we kinda got it in Godzilla vs Kong
This movie was fucking terrific with many memorable action scenes. The sequel just didnt have the same magic. Del Toro made all the difference.
0:00 this right is is enough to get someone hooked into the giant fighting robots genre.
Just got a new soundbar and surwoofer this week and this was the perfect video to test it out. The results were amazing with intense heavy sounds and dramatic effects. Thank you
Snap, awesome. Thanks for the upload!
This movie was INSANE! so sad we never got a sequel😢
Just compare the Jaegers pilots of this pacific rim compared to uprising, here you’ve got gypsy danger trying to minimize collateral damage to buildings, while in the 2nd movie you’ve got gypsy avenger just pulling down buildings trying to slow down the kaiju raijun and saber Athena just using her sabers to slice through the buildings just to look cool?
The legendary veteran and the discipline daughter of the commander.
Vs
Tennagers, and a fail jaeger pilot.
Who do you think makes more level headed decision?
this movie really needs a sequel.
There is a sequel, and yeah it was much much worse.. (or this a sarcasm ???)
