  • I have had a bit of drama with my video editing program and my graphic card both are now talking to each other, with the help of a friend Felix for now touch wood. Not much content in this one as we were not moving around much waiting to see what was happening out on the water. Now at the entrance to the Mary River hoping to start Heading North again.

    Loving your videos Simon (and Nicole), great work. Perfect for lock-down here in NZ where I pretty much can't do anything at the moment. Been watching your channel for a little while now and finding it very helpful being that we have recently purchased a 23ft trailer sailer. You both have a great attitude towards life and it is a pleasure to watch, keep up the good work.

      Hope you can get out on the water as soon as you are allowed. NZ is a lovely place, I hope I can get back there post-lock down and visit a few more of the great walks.
      Safe Sailing NC.

      The next place we might stop with a marina is Yeppoon. We hope to sail to lady Musgrave in the next few days (weather permitting).

    You mentioned Nicole studying economics. What is Nicole's thoughts on the present and the future of the economy ?

    • @simoncarteroz
      @simoncarteroz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am studying economics and ecology. The current state of the economy is volatile because of the social distancing measures halting and slowing many sectors in the economy. China which implemented social distancing earlier has recorded a 6.8% contraction in GDP in the first quarter of 2020. Therefore, I believe similar contractions will be experienced Australia and elsewhere. It is unclear how long the economy will take to recover; however, the RBA and Australian Government has taken significant steps to encourage spending and stimulate the economy during these times. How effective these efforts have been will come to fruition in the coming months.
      All the best,
      NC

      @@simoncarteroz Nicole, do you accept university course neo-classical economics belief that the level of debt in the economy does not matter, as it is the interest earning asset of others, balancing each out ?

    • @Elfangorlanzhou
      @Elfangorlanzhou 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simoncarteroz wow you seem really smart. American admin kinda just ignored the warnings in Feb and March and not doing so well nowadays. They affect China since US is still among the biggest customer of China but they are borrowing debt like crazy to help stimulate the economy. So who knows? However, since China was already expanding fast and they took major countermeasures relatively early, they are expected to actually grow as the rest of the world contracts. In an ironic way, we got bigger challenges than covid-19 like climate change and China seems to be going on the right track in pursuing green energy as they see huge economic opportunity in it. Maybe with your ecology degree, you can convince our stubborn politicians to capitalise on australia's green resources too. xD

    Catherine and I have been watching these together. C is from Maryborough and enjoyed seeing the footage of queens park. What was the name of that creek? Fig Tree? Is that on Fraser? Thanks for another great video.

    • @simoncarteroz
      @simoncarteroz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The creek was Yankee Jack Creek on Fraser Island. It is towards the Sandy Straits end of Fraser. There are a few bugs though so if you go swimming you need to hop in quick, once you are under the water the bugs cannot bite you.
      I am doing well on the boat, I am still studying with about a year left before I graduate a BSc and BEcon. It is amazing how far 4G has made it. We are 3/4 up Fraser now and we still have enough signal to Zoom (once I have pulled dads phone up the mast and put the WiFi hot spot on).
      Safe sailing regards,
      NC and Simon.
