Great colors. And I’d like to ask，do you think there’s a significant quality difference between files recorded in h.265 encoding and ProRes encoding? If the quality difference between h.265 and ProRes is not significant, then the size advantage of h.265 is very obvious.
H265 looks better and sharper than prores proxy and LT in my tests. It might look less sharp than prores 422 HQ that the default camera app shoots but the size is a LOT smaller
How much storage do you recommend if you shoot H265? I was thinking of buying the iphone 16 pro 1tb but i can save a lot if i go for a 512gb model or even less
I want to use Blackmagic app to record 4k60 in log-ProRes LT but I think H265 log might be just good enough. I want the footage to look less oversharpened which is what happens when we use the native camera in rec 709. I tested recording video to an external samsung SSD and it works but H265 would be easier and I could then use my 15 pro max on a insta 360 flow gimbal. Your video looks great! For daytime a variable ND might be needed.

Hi, I have a question. How can import Apple Log h.265 files in Davinci? I have a sound but, no video itself in the timeline. And I have the appropriate codec for h.265, but it still doesn't seem to work with Apple Log?
@@DrKnow186 yeah, basically Apple Log & h.265 is a 10 bit 4:2:2 codec, which the free version of Davinci don’t support. now, I am using Apple ProRes 422 HQ or proxy version of it to get slightly smaller files. you can use H.264, but the color transitions will be rough since it’s 8 bit footage. in short, you have to get the studio version if you want to have h.265
Amazing work! Can I please check with you, when you record with H265 and Apple Log and preview your recording in the Media tab of the BlackMagic Camera app, does the color space show as “Apple Log” for you when you click on the “I” (info) button or does it show as “Rec709”?
I'm super new to this so I want to ask a simple question. I used the BlackMagic app to shoot a H.265 apple log video and tried to import them to DaVinci Resolve. It can only read the audio. It could load H.265 HDR correctly. Did you encounter this isssue? I don't have mac or adobe premier so I prefer free ware. Thanks!
Not sure but maybe the free version of Davinci doesnt support H265 or maybe Windows you need to install a H265 reader add - on. I use macbook air m1 so everything works fine!
Hi, I have the exact same problem. I'm on PC, use DaVinci Resolve 18.6 but get audio files with no video when importing them into the software. I have the HEVC codec installed, I don't know what to do for now. Apple ProRes files are so huge for minor IQ improvement, it's not worth the hassle of recording with linked SSD. I hope I'll find out a solution soon. If you have a solution, I'd love hearing from you! Thanks.
@@Bluemanta69 i think you have the free version? my macbook m1 has no problem reading mov files. maybe windows dont work so well with mov and prores files. These days i just work with H265 inside iphone haha

I have the same issue with my Fuji X-H2 when I shoot in H265 long Gop 2:2:2 files. I’ll probably have to pay for a licence or accept the hassle of shooting ProRes.

hi, did you encounter the issue that when recording in H265 HEVC AND LUT WITHIN, PLAYBACK WORKS FINE ON IPHONE, BUT playback on PC shows black screen with sound(potplayer). and shows normal in davinci studio version. yes it works but i can't use a normal software to playback, do you have any clue?

mine says rec2020 on all videos except the ones film in rec709 then it says rec709

话说UP有遇到新版app里把lut内录，采用H265, HEVC，然后手机端播放正常，电脑上播放黑屏但有声音的问题么（在达芬奇付费版里画面声音都正常），这个正常吗？虽然可以处理，但预览一点都不直观，感觉很不爽。不知道您有没有解决方案。
电脑端播放软件是potplayer和默认都试过，也安装了H265的系统插件

solved. i uninstall a 3rd part potplayer enhance ,and reinstall potplayer
Could You put somewhere a RAW video without color correction?
