Hey Patterrz, thanks for showcasing my video :) I based this on the consensus that I saw online and what the Palworld Wiki said. Admittedly, some are stretches but I wanted to include everything. Overall, I am glad Palworlds exists and I enjoy it so far.
still laugh tho ppl think anubis is bassed on lucario when it resembles old depictions of anubis you know the egyptian god far more :D still trying to figure who what pokemon suzaku is supposed to be and find it funny lifmunk the chipmonk is somehow leafeon the fox thing :D just cuz its green with leafs lol ppl compare 15 pals and ignroe that is 112 technically lol
And what makes it even more funnier is that Lovander was originally going to be #49, but someone replied "wouldn't it be funnier if this pal was #69" and they responded saying it was a good idea and did it
Lovander is among the only pals I fucking hate. It perpetuates that aggravating cycle of people wanting to fuck the monsters..... It's at least humanoid and seems relatively capable of complex thought, unlike things like Vaporeon which the degenerate trash you find in the pokemon community want to fuck, but regardless of if it's a dog made of water, or a 7 foot tall horny lizard. It's still an animal.
The Houndoom one in particular threw me off. Ffs the other thing is a bipedal goat, Houndoom is a quadreped dog. They just share the same THEME which is devil/hellfire resulting in the red and black color scheme. Meanwhile a whole chunk of these are just cause theyre based on the same animal. Donphan? Ofc the Pal has a trunk and tusks, its a MAMMOTH. Cufant? Theyre elephants...Wooloo? Theyre sheep...etc. etc.
As someone who's been watching all this unfold very closely from a "Yeah they dun did a plagiarism" pov, the video he's reacting to makes a lot of week comparisons that i haven't seen made anywhere else, like the fire fox at 2:15 isn't being compared to Delphox but a mega Delphox fan design that is the first image result if you google "mega Delphox". Or how the one at 1:30 is right that it's being accused of ripping off Primarina (look at the hair. It is literally the same, just without the pearls) but why compare it to Milotic when its body and especially face are so clearly form Serperior right down to someone showing that their animation rigs overlap perfectly. The original video just seems to be a low effort view genarator with next to no actual research done into the accusations, and regardless of intention, is doing a small part in muddying the water and giving easy ammo for the "Lol there both just based on birds" style rhetoric.
Nintendo has known about this game for 3 years. Like they immediately took down a Pokemon mod that stole their models but still left Palworld be.@@AlexGonzalez-ys9uc
you can also pick up the sheep and use it as a meat shield. a meat shield that cries. you can then revive it in the box, bring it out, feed it berries and pet it so it feels better. then use it as a shield again.
If that video was based on the consensus for the argument, I can see why it's not holding water. Pat was more spot-on for his guesses than any point the comparison video stretched to make.
Some of these are in no way identical to pokemon. Some you can see the similarities, but they're different enough. Then others are just 2 or 3 Pokémon Frankensteined together. And finally, some of them are literally the "can I copy your homework?" meme.
i think the main one was with the meowth face where it felt copied, but then again it seemed to be going for a Cheshire cat look which has that kind of face anyways so....
It seems to me that the further they get from looking like ripping off pokemon (or other monster taming franchises like Digimon or Nexomon), the more generic and uninspired they look, too. Like they genuinely couldn't come up with their own solid designs.
No there are several that are really cool and look nothing like Pokemon. The only similar thing is art style which isn't something you can copyright.@@jonathanflanagan1504
Some of them match pretty closely (especially if you stretch/compress them a bit), but others (maybe even most) look as though they're just based on the same real-world animal or idea.
This right here. A lot of people are missing this shit. Real world animals look they way they do, Pokemon were based on real animals. Pals aren't allowed to be based on real animals too? I am attempting to see how that's fair, but Twitter users don't understand being fair, they just understand hating.
And it's funny when people say "oh ya there ripping off pokemon" when pokemon ripped of dragon quest in the first place☠️ But hey its totally oka when big company rips of the little guy.(dragon quest) but bad when the little company rips of the big company(palworld)
@@anthonynguyen4088 Anubis because no. Lamball again no. If you have to stretch and compare 2 against 1 then again no. Pokemon owns their patented designs not animals designs, not Egyptian gods designs. My 5 year old can see a difference between them and knows they aren't the same but 20 to 30 year olds apparently need glasses because they can't tell a difference. And dragon quest also mad at pokemon as they did the exact same thing your upset over
13:26 I knew instantly that one was going to be Silvally, I recognize that head crest anywhere! Also the info for it is very similar and big Silvally vibes: “It’s very existence should not be”
A lot of these comparisons are stretches. There is a penguin pal therefore it must be piplup despite them not really looking alike. People are seeing design elements that can in some way be linked to a pokemon. Of course there are some that have definitely been heavily influenced (maybe copied who knows) by pokemon, although its gone to the point that people are forcing comparisons
it's also sad cuz there are 1000+ pokemon designs over decades of work building up their franchise and now that this new game came out that is inspired by those designs, everyone is so quick to point out 2-3 of those designs for every pal. it feels unfair and illogical
The one that's just combined Serperior, Primarina, and Milotic is so funny to me because Primarina's hair looks like that because it's tied, so there's no reason for the pal's hair to look like that because it has no hair bands or anything.
i like how you were really reasonable. there so many people that hate just for the sake of hate who would literally just say 'all these are 100% carbon copies!' the games great, and after scarlet/violet game freak needs a kick in the pants to do better. i hope palworld makes a huge impact on the next legends game.
Only some of them are really eerily similar, but i like that some Pals obviously take inspiration from some pokemon and change it so it has a whole different vibe. Think of Pengullet and Piplup.
It's obvious that the designs are not 100% the same, but it's pretty obvious (to me) that they took a lot of inspiration from Pokemon's designs. You can see it a lot in the movement and the little features of existing Pokémon.
a lot of these are stretches and people forget that animals are real things, and what's bound to happen with two games using the same animal type to create a creature shouldn't be a shock
You cant say that some dont look eerily similar/recolored and that's okay. I do agree though that the 'fusion' ones and most of the early/late game monsters look like its own thing. I do not give two sh## about Nintendo but as an Artist i really think i would've loved some Pals much more if they were mostly their own thing without out me accidently comparing them. I guess that's just my opinion though.
@@2Navalie i can definitely see the similarities in a couple, mainly some features that are taken from other pokemon, but im sure over time theyll be able to work out their own designs that dont have at least noticeable features from pokemon, but it'd be kinda hard when every pokemon already has certain basic features
Whoever did that video did a pretty poor job. Should have shown what pokemon it looked like thematically and what model it most resembled. The boar and Zigzagoon was just pathetic.
The maker of video started showing only 1 pokemon in 2nd half, but it would be more correct to show 2. Because Pals are actually more like fusions of existing pokemons. For example, the cat thing that was compared to Galarian Meowth is actually fusion of GM and the other cat pokemon, with purple fur and split tail at the end. Unfortunately the videomaker is an idiot.
The Zigzagoon one was likely pointing to the fact that Boar had the same pattern on its bib thing that Zigzagoon does, but the overall creatures weren’t similar. It just looked like the boar from monster Hunter wearing a Zigzagoon outfit.
it feels like a lot of the designs they took inspiration from pokemon with specific details, e.g. the legendary type one literally has arceus' thing around the body, or the edgy character looking one has literally got absol's spike thingie. Or they are essentially rethinking a pokemon's design to be "what about X pokemon BUT anthropromorphic/grass/water/etc. Or literally doing a fusion of multiple pokemon. However a lot of the examples shown inthe video seemed a bit iffy at best.
The cat face is from studio Ghibli's Totoro isn't it? In Palworld her eyes glow in the night as well and actually act as light source so that you can see stuff. (Palworld's night is really really dark.)
That's what happens when people think same animal = copy. Sure, some of these are very obviously knock off pokemon, but most of these comparisons are just outright reaching.
There is obviously some in the video that are pokemon rip offs (mainly the one that looks like megananium) but the more that I see there's like only 5 Pals that looked ripped from pokemon and the rest look like there own thing But hey since pokemon is the biggest franchise in the world and since they made a monster taming genre with cartoon animals.......even though they were far from the first......NOBODY ELSE can use that idea cause there just gonna be "pOkemOn RiP oFF"
@@5h0ckblockNah I'm sure the guy was just trying to extend the video as long as possible. Like bro zigzagoon and rushboar are the same? The boar and the raccoon?
@@leedlebob2667 Well you know Nintendo owns the color brown, so anything else that's brown is clearly plagiarism which is why Nintendo will win the lawsuit
@@5h0ckblock Funny, but I think there are some actual claims to be made. With pals like azurobe, verdash, and dinossom all possibly being ripped, modified models of existing pokemon. But some of these claims sure are hilarious.
These look legally distinct but they get very little credit in originality. Like Zilla versus Godzilla Kinda funny that Gamefreak is being more mature about it than most of the internet. I do really like Mammorest
People generally are way too eager about throwing plagiarism accusations left and right on many things *cough* Kimba the White Lion *cough*. More specifically, people have problem in distinguishing between: - genuine stealing - copycating within the limits of the copyright (aka "We have X at home") - inspiration and homage - coincidental simmilarities
I feel like a lot of these designs take elements or heavy inspiration from certain pokemon to the point where we are able to recognize them, but were added to completely different base designs to avoid plagiarism allegations.
I hate how some Palworld Fans are defending all of them. Some of them are eerily similar and you need to admit it no matter how cool it looks. Im not saying all of them though because a lot of them are actually adorable and different so
You have to consider "real world" models for the Pokemons/Pals as well. In Palworld they have Eikthyrdeer, which resembles a Legendary Pokemon who's name eludes me at the moment. But it's not a rip off of that Pokemon, it's modeled after Eikthyrnir from Norse mythology. The fire fox one is taken from Finnish folklore. Anubis as mentioned is an Egyptian god, and the colors on the Anubis pal match the color scheme associated with the Egyptian god, not the somewhat similar Pokemon. There's only so many ways to make a sheep, a cow, a deer, a boar, a well-depicted mythological being, etc.
''Eikthyrdeer'' - Lmao,, what the hell?? 🤣😅😅😄 Horrible company who just want that flash of attention (in b4 Pokémon day) and want to make cheap money. Shiny New Toy (ahem, read: turd) syndrome.
Because there are raging pokemon stans and they want to defend there multi billion dollar company, that has been feeding them games that unfinished and bad for years

Same. Like, don't take the game down entirely. Just force them to do it temporarily in order to remake some of the more ripped-off designs. There are only a few.
To be fair... Tiger (Monster Rancher) was released in the 90's-- so it predates Lycanroc (Lycanroc shiny is even blue & white like him just missing horns so don't know why nobody has seemed to make that comparison). I personally think the body is a pretty basic cartoon wolf- so it could easily be compared to almost any other videogame or cartoon franchise. Direhowl is a basic wolf. Pengullet is a cartoony penguin, but Nintendo dont hold the rights to be the only one to use tiny blue penguins in their game. lol Piplup & Pengullet do not look at all identical, they just happen to be cute smol blue penguins.
While I do agree with you on the basic design premise .... Palworld DID just straight up grab Lycanroc's 3D Model and turned the tail shape upside down. That's it. That is all the 'designing' they did. If that isn't straight up stealing, idk what is. I'm not saying some of the creatures in Palworld aren't original but then there's stuff like this that's just ... bad.
@@Aghul its made in a similar/same engine a lot of the models look similar for FREAKING EVERY 4 legged pokemon ffs. Pretty much all of them use the same tail wag.
@@RocketSlime look at the texture, at the image on screen, the faces are not just similar, the strokes are the same. I don't know what someone claimed and stuff. Even when referencing there would be differences but there are none. The angles of teeth, the shape of eye. Probably if someone ripped both models they would find that textures line up. And to do it with such a simple face... Not even redraw it is such laziness
@@HybrydaArt someone did rip them and compared them and their are differences but that person also resized and molded them to be exactly the same and said it was proof that pal world was stealing assets and plagiarizing but then later admitted he lied
I think the biggest thing is that they used a similar art style as pokemon, so they are bound to have pals that are similar, I do think they took direct inspiration for some, but for others it’s a stretch
14:21 That is not Tangrowth. That is Nihon Dex 237, Wolfman, from the Spaceworld 97 Pokemon Gold and Silver demos. The sprites have been public info since the demos were leaked following a Nintendo hack. Wolfman might have been scrapped during the development of Gen 2, but is still part of the Pokemon IP. Pity that the Pocket Pair devs didn't think or forgot to alter this sprite more - I guess they forgot some folks are fascinated by seeing scrapped bits from game development, and would be familiar with those demos (esp. since there are free fangames that turned the demos into full alt Gen 2 games...l.
Here’s the issue because Pokemon have been around for a very long time and they have loads of Pokemon that exist we have gotten too the point that honestly it’s pretty hard for any artist to come out with a completely unique and new design of a monster like creature in a similar art style as Pokemon (and it should be made clear art style is actually not under copyright and there are games that look very similar too each other and play like each other but at the same time you cannot ignore the actual overall differences and the completely different people that made them).
BIG FACTS, the moment someone makes a design of a Pokémon with BETTER mechanics then gamefreak, Nintendo fanbase comes out there cave and bitch. Honestly Nintendo don't have a case, just cause a developer use inspiration from your game but have different mechanics does not mean copyright. Does it have ANY of Nintendo Pokémon NO, then what are idiots talking about, its competition Nintendo grow up.
Weirdly enough, every single Fakemon designer on youtube is doing a better job of exactly that than Palworld despite even using the exact same artstyle. So yes, it IS possible to make original, distinct designs that may look like Pokemon but are definitely not anything like actually existing Pokemon. It is NOT done the way Palworld does it tho.
And then we gonna have people defending copied designs having Anubis as a shield to hide other more obvious copies Btw this is og video creator is dumb, they missed and misjudged a lot of these The case is obvious here. Big company small company competating. People gonna be on small company side obv. Thats how human works
And Cinder ace is soccer bugs bunny. A lot of things that are based off the same things are going to look similar. People throwing all these accusations about Palworld stealing from game freak wouldn't be saying anything if they compared a lot of Gen 1 and 2 pokemon to the monsters from Dragon quest and SMT. shit atleast palworlds game play is different, pokemon just straight up ripped off Megami Tensei game play and just tweaked it a little bit.
@fireycyndaquil5026 you could say the same for nidoran male and bunnycorn from Dragon quest, or Staryu and Decarabia from SMT. But hey it has enough differences to avoid a law suit.
The thing is that many of them have elements from at least 3 Pokemon smashed together and maybe recolored a bit. You can't really compare them to only 1 Pokemon or I would imagine GF would've sued the socks off Palworld's people already. Except the Mega Mewtwo Y, which is probably the reason it was kept out. 0:35 This one is a mix of Leafeon's ears, Pachirisu body, and Nickit's tail. 1:00 Meganium face, Goodra body, and Liligant's flower. Maybe even Serperior's tail. 1:18 Blaziken's legs, Sneasle's body, Decidueye's cape, and Gallade's "helmet" thing. 1:35 Serperior's body shape, Dragonair's tail detail, Suicune's ribbons, Primarina's hair and Milotic's eyebrows. 2:08 This to me kinda looks like a shrunken Honchkrow with a part of @GameboyLuke logo and Hoothoot's foot split into two feet. Bit of a stretch, I admit. 2:19 Misimagius's hat (although it's really just a witch's hat) combines with elements of Braxien and Delphox. 2:42 Drillbur's claws, almost a Gengar's face, Electabuzz's pattern in a Totoro body. 2:57 How did they miss the Sobble's fin thing?? 3:24 Raichu tail, Lucario face, and a Pyroar body? 3:42 Mega Salamence, Miraidon "turbine" legs, and Iron Moth's wings. 3:03 Silvally's crest, Escavalier's "arms" and Ceruledge face. Maybe some horse pokemon's rear? 4:29 Nailed this one. 4:39 Zoroark body, Houndoom's horns.* 5:21 Espurr's body, and Misdreavus's color scheme? 5:46 Lycanrock's body in a Galarian Zigzagoon color palette. 5:59 Mareep and Alcremie. 6:30 Salazzle fanfic. Not sure if those ears are from something else though.
It definitely looks like they did stuff like copy and past the tail of one pokemon and stick it on another. There are a lot of 'parts' that look straight up copy and pasted, though they do mix and match stuff so you can't pin most down to one specific pokemon.
While I agree with some of them a lot of them seem to be inspired by the same things and because Pokemon is so engraved into our brains we think they "stole" the idea like a fire fox is nothing new and vulpix was for sure not the first ever created
You mean like Pokémon did with Dragon Quest? Most of Pokémon’s creatures are unoriginal. Even Pikachu is not that special. Some will look similar because of what the origin inspiration is or because of what looks good.
ok, im pretty sure a lot of palworld's designs came before gen 9.. right? this game was in development for 3 years. Not saying they didnt make them after the release of gen 9.. but it's pushing it.
Hot take, these would be way better if they didn’t use Pokemon as an “inspiration” at all. Some of these are entirely unique and they look much much better than the ones that aren’t.
Not a palworld hater by any means but they did straight up copy the models of pokemon themselves. This can be seen if you put some of them on the same layer in a modeling program. Especially for Direhowl & Lycanrock. It’s just a different hairstyle for lycanrock but that’s about it.
Yeah, and if you look at their last game, Craftopia, that seems to be their general MO. They take heavy inspiration from a plethora of other games and their mechanics and put them into a big stew and just hope for the best, it seems. Given that I never heard of Craftopia until Palworld's success, I can assume that game was likely not that notable.
@@rafaelfeitosa8926 That's certainly an opinion one can have. Given that they aren't even in the same genre, I don't think that's an objective fact, though. Personally, I don't care about survival games, so I don't think I'd enjoy Palworld that much, even if I can agree that Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield were somewhat underwhelming and didn't hold my interesting. (Scarlet and Violet were definitely a step up in my opinion.)

Pokken tourney dead, pokemon trozei a puzzle game dead, most of these games which only sold a few million compared to the 10s of millions that the main line games show to the pokemon company that people only want the mainline formula. Even the most popular pokemon spin off mystery dungeon only sold around 2 million for its best game, which again shows to the devs that making formula deviations don’t work if they want sales.
I think many of these had similarities to different Pokémon than they showed. While the ideas and colors may have been similar to the Pokémon comparisons many of the pals had copy and paste features from some Pokémon that they looked nothing like
The Galarian Meowth comparison I'll argue, there are so many creatures that have those eyes and teeth that I don't think it's a fair comparison (though I've been told if you throw galarian meowth's head on a skitty it becomes more blatant). I cannot defend the cobalion comparison though. Like come on, you couldn't even change the colors?
this just shows how toxic the pokemon extreme fanboys are, they just keep buying gamefreaks pokemon game and never get their moneys worth and never get the quality they would deserve so they are butthurt when a different company makes a pokemon like game and does it better and cheaper, in pokemon you need to buy the base game for x2 more then need to buy both versions if you want everything then buy dlc too lol the fact that older pokemon games had way more content and way better quality than newer ones shows that something is wrong, the best 3d pokemon game to date is legends of arceus only that game started to get close to what a monster collecting adventure should look like
"they are similar but I don't think it was stolen", bro, literally the CEO of Pocket Pair (the developers of Palworld) has openly said that none of his games are original and that he especially likes to copy Nintendo games, because according to him, The most important thing in a video game is that it is fun and not that it is original Edit: sorry if my english is not that good, it's not my native language
Also, as a monster hunter fan, the Teostra looking dude with its subspecies that colors it like Lunastra is also rather amusing. Nice to see they weren't just ripping from Pokemon. The jetragon also vaguely reminds me of Valstrax a bit too.
You’re telling me the rocket dragon reminds you of the rocket dragon. That’s not surprising. Most claims of copies are a reach. If you have to smash multiple different creatures that have vague similarities then that’s not a copy
@@deadlylightningspirit4295 Yeah, that's why I said vaguely reminds me of. I don't even think that one in particular is even that bad. At least when they are taking parts from other games that have their own art style and transcribing it into their Pokemon-lite aesthetic, that makes it less blatant. It's when they are taking inspiration from Pokemon designs while also having a similar art style to Pokemon that those similarities become more blatant and feel less inspired.
"that's just galarian meowth's face" because cats don't have sharp teeth and eyes that glow if a light is pointed at them. because pokemon invented the cheshire cat.

It's much more of drawing heavy inspiration than anything else. Mammorest does look a lot like dorefan, but the concept and feel has been changed to something unique. It's the same case with most of the pals. Sure, some of them are combinations of two pokemon designs, but they are not labelled pokemon, and don't share enough similarites to either to really be classified as a copy of them. Also am I the only one who sees some of these supposed design combinations and doesn't see much resemblance?
i dont think the comparison was stretching far enough. palworld designs can be amalgamations of 3-4 pokemon at once, to the point they just feel pokemon ish
@@melonsauce1474Well it actually does. Inspired means you are taking on concept, and changing it. Original means you start from the ground up and dont use outside sources to create it. So it is unoriginal, but not in a bad way
The critiques are totally valid and quite a few designs are suspiciously similar to Pokemon but idk the original creator was reaching with a lot of these imo lmao
@@shinystone3294 The first trailer I have seen was over 90% rip-offs. The only creatures I specifically remember in it were an Electivire and a Lopunny "clone". Also, em... Other than a few Shorts, memes and jokes, I did not follow anything about this game. I actually didn't even watch this video. I would have given a more precise commentary on how many were pokemon copies otherwise.
I think you're kind of misinterpreted a lot of the comparisons made. Any of the ones that showed two Pokémon at once was trying to imply it shared obvious traits with each, not that it looked like a copy of both of them. Lifmunk ABSOLUTELY looks like if Pachirisu had the leafy traits of Leafeon. Not to mention, you noted that "it doesn't look like their design was ripped straight out of Pokémon", but the video title just says "similar" designs, so it's kind of an escalation of the claims being made anyway.
Ok some of these look like fusions of different pokemon. I don't hate the game though. You can critique a game and not hate it. But some of these feel like they took designs from pokemon fan designs. There was a pal that looked like a fusion of deerling (its face) and Tinkaton (its hair) with a little bit of victini (its body and it's floating). I still like that pal. Its called a flopie and i love it. Too bad i can't play it. And that "yeti tangrowth" reminds me of scrapped Pokemon design from i think gen 2?
@triggerfairy4070 i can associate a machete with Jason Voorhees and a talking horse with MLP, does that automatically make every machete Jasons? or every talking horse an MLP character? for the primarina comparaison it comes down to they took Primarina's hair and striped the jewlery and changed the color ! They litteraly have the same shape and details of "split hair" and the second pokemon should have been Serperior since that's it's body
I assume your talking about bushi? I mean they're a similar but the wandering swordsman with a straw hat (Ronin samurai) is very common. Sheen's japanese name comes from the famous japanese blacksmith 'masamune'. Iv played plenty of games that have a sword be called 'masamune' so it's not exactly a stretch.
@@Mr.Jacket The reason im saying sheen and bushi look so similar is not because of the ronin archetype, but due to the fact that they both also have an orange fireball on their hats, in the same place And name wise, I thought that sheens Japanese name was bushi, but im pretty sure thats actually Gleam's, not sheen's
Thing is, the pals have way better animations and expresssions than pokemon do. You honestly cannot judge them without seeing their working and sleeping animations.
@iamsiley2200 That is where I will have to disagree. As a long time pokemon fan, they have some cool designs but Pokémon is so oversaturated with designs, most are forgettable. The Pal designs might be underwhelming at first but their animations breathe life into them that Pokémon lost a long time ago.
@@TeamOmega27 I also like the concept of them not evolving and ALL of them are equally useful just some are more useful. You'll never use that route 27 misc. fish pokemon for the pokedex again but in palworld that baby is a lvl 2 waterer so it'll be watering your gardens at one of your THREE bases lol
To be fair, with over 1,000 Pokémon to date, you can't exactly make a game of this nature with cute/odd creatures without someone going: "That looks like (insert Pokémon name here)." or "That's just a (insert Pokémon here) rip-off". Now, while I can see 1 or 2 of them walking a thin line of being pretty close to a Pokémon design, the vast majority of the Pals aren't copies/rip-offs. They just take inspirational ideas in their designs from one, two...or even three other Pokémon. But at the end of the day, taking inspiration from something isn't the same as copying something; and that's something that a lot of people can't seem to understand. At the end of the day, Palworld has been scratching that itch that a lot of Pokémon fans (myself included) haven't been getting from the latest games in the Pokémon series. And I think a lot of salty individuals from the Pokémon community are just trying to pick apart every little detail as their way of saying "This game should be sued/removed!" because they don't like their franchise having any form of solid competition. Which...a bit of healthy competition is something that Nintendo might need in order to start putting some life and soul back into their Pokémon titles.
While I do get that there are those which are incredibly similar, with what some of the pokemon community are saying in regards to copyright I don't think nintendo/game freak have the copyright of literal animals (penguin, boar, wolves, etc)
Over-all Palworld should've tried harder with the designs. At the end of the day, the pokemon comparisons wouldn't exist if they didnt take the literal designs grom some of them.
The thing is that they definitely took design elements and pieces from Pokemon and slapped them on. The hair of the seal singing Pokemon was almost exactly replicated in the elegant seal Pal - down to the little fly-aways which... why would they add those bit at random in the exact places they are in the Pokemon's hair? That's a straight copy. Also using Absol's horn on one of them, or Mudkip's fin on the quagsire-like one. There are some where they're very close to the actual designs, but a lot more where they just take pieces of Pokemon and glue them on top of a Pal for 'more'. And it's very obvious. Also, you cannot tell me that every other game out there that has wolves, sheep, cows, deer, boars and mythical beings look so akin to Pokemon as to be almost exact copies at times? Do you know how many different variations of wolf monsters exist in games? Each of them being incredibly distinct? And none of them are Lycanroc-copies. Like, the argument that "Of course they look the same, they're from the same inspiration" is disingenuous when you look at every other game that has used the same inspiration yet managed to create distinct and original creatures. And it's a pity because they DO have some really cool design ideas that are original to them! They're doing themselves a disservice by stealing bits and pieces of Pokemon when they're fully capable of creating their own critters and doing so better than Pokemon does, in some ways.
This exactly! They COULD have made a cool and original wolf design. It's not even hard to do! But no, instead they grab Lycanroc's exact 3D model, turn the tail upside down, change the colors and call it a day. Not only is that blatant theft and LAZY, it's also incredibly belittling of the game's audience imo, if the creators think that this is gonna be deemed 'good' in the long run.
@@Aghul It's really not hard you go in and resize the Pal to fit the pokemon. Again the person who led the this accusation has admitted they made it all up.
@2Navalie 0 seconds ago The designs look way to similar too be not based on pokemon. Im not salty about it, i just keep forgetting that its called Creamis and not 'creamy eevee' 💀. Tbh though for the sake of Palworld they will probably have to change the designs, 1. It will calm twitter down and 2. Less chance of Gamefreak seeing them.
Lol I think they just borrowed Pokémon’s art style and created an interesting survival game. If I had access to Palworld, i’d give it a try, looks fun. Some of the Pals do look too similar to existing Pokemon though, and they should’ve changed them just to be more original.
@@DigiRangerScott fam ur attempting to defend a billion dollar company and biggest franshice in the WORLD............and ur saying there "theifs" for making similar pokemon designs that most of them aren't that similar..........also fam pokemon has made OVER 1000 POKEMON so do u think that at this point no matter what they do they will make something that has a single feature the same as a pokemon.......be it eyes the ears the face the legs the hands
Some of these are just too similar to be a coincidence, but for a lot of them I feel like if you have over 1000 different designs like Pokémon does, basically no matter how you design your new monsters there will be some resemblence to some of them simply based on the huge number.
One thing i started to notice, the more you compare the 3d models, the more you notice how distinct they are, except the luxray and cinderave ones, they are impossible to argue against
Comment section be acting SO offended just because someone says the literal WORD "copy." God forbid anyone of yall find out how they rendered Palworld sprites lmaoooooo
NGL I kinda am. If somebody only knew the style of Pokemon and had to make over 100 different Pokemon there would be similar amounts of overlap. The ideas simply aren't that outstanding and seeing how much worse the designs of newer Pokemon are (imo) they really have done most designs already going to absurd concepts, while palworld wanted better and cleaner designs which is why (again imo) palworld easily beats the last 2 Pokemon gens design wise and it's not even close.
@@brunozoller4087 The problem lies in that as a game developer you GOTTA know more than just that one game of the specific field you're working in. And even if you don't - that should just make it easier for you to AVOID specific design choices that end up just being copies. Just DON'T do what Pokemon does, don't rip entire parts of Pokemon designs/3D models off and reuse them, that is lazy design and not at all original. The Pals that are original ideas are great, so there's no reason for them to even go the Pokemon route at all. And since you're saying yourself that recent Pokemon designs have been bad in your opinion: In that case many Palworld designs *can't* be better, because they straight-up just use the same designs. Same models, same rigs, same animations, same colors even. Can you make a cooler Milotic? Sure! Can you make a cooler Milotic by just taking Milotic and slapping Primarina's hair on? No. That's in no way an original design.
@@Aghul I can somewhat agree that the hair is incredibly suspicious. But saying that they can't be better because they are exactly the same is just bs. There are definitely some similar designs, but most of them execute exactly that idea better. I think azurobe is a slightly better design than milotic and it's my least favorite boss in the entire game
@@brunozoller4087 It's not just incredibly suspicious, it's actually been proven that the model is the exact same, just stretched out a tiny bit. Same goes for the not-Lykanroc btw. Also whether Palworld executes the idea better or not is up to personal taste at the end of the day - but that doesn't change the fact that if you just outright obviously steal another game's design/model and barely tweak it, that's not ok.
95% if these are so farfetched it's unbelieavable. How is the cat similair at all to Galarian Meowth? If anything it looks much more like the Ceshsire cat. Errmagerrd pokemon copy pasted chesire cat's face to meowth.

Theyre sheep...etc. etc.
I agree but they need to change that green cinder ASAP that's the only one which I feel will get them sued

Whoever did that video did a pretty poor job. Should have shown what pokemon it looked like thematically and what model it most resembled. The boar and Zigzagoon was just pathetic.
Agreed. They should have focused on the models and how exactly the same those are as that’s a FAR better comparison that I saw in a different video.
Yeah, the Primarina/Milotic one is actually Serperior and Primarina…
it feels like a lot of the designs they took inspiration from pokemon with specific details, e.g. the legendary type one literally has arceus' thing around the body, or the edgy character looking one has literally got absol's spike thingie.
It's actually based on the Cheshire Cat, which Totoro's Cat bus is also based on
So far, it feels like the longer the video goes, the more you need to squint to see any similarities.
That's what happens when people think same animal = copy. Sure, some of these are very obviously knock off pokemon, but most of these comparisons are just outright reaching.

Which...a bit of healthy competition is something that Nintendo might need in order to start putting some life and soul back into their Pokémon titles.
wait til they find out that most pokemon also took inspiration from somewhere else and often stole fanart ideas etc 🤣
@@zekrom6537 True XD
While I do get that there are those which are incredibly similar, with what some of the pokemon community are saying in regards to copyright I don't think nintendo/game freak have the copyright of literal animals (penguin, boar, wolves, etc)
Then you’re missing what the actual complaints are
Over-all Palworld should've tried harder with the designs.
