This is some rare New Edition footage considering the "Under The Blue Moon" record wasn't really meant to be promoted. I couldn't even imagine Bobby Brown doing this LOL!
Every Saturday evening at 5 pm in worms Germany where I used to live exploring new talents and from every genre of music. Those were the good days of music from this show.
If yall notice on A little bit of love Bobby was still in that song he had finished the album then was kicked out so on the video like (Count me out ) He's not present but u can hear him on the part that goes like this (Don't count me out Don't leave me out) If u notice Ricky Bell was singing that part
I agree we should move forward in life no doubt about it although I don't think reminiscing on old song is retreating back into a cosy life if that is what you are pertaining to, well not in my case, it just remembering some good old songs of the early days. Its nothing wrong about listening to old song. We can still move forward in life and struggle for what's right and reminisce without becoming shallow.
Tan M You've never seen New Edition on Solid Gold before? No worries... I think I posted of few of their performances throughout the mid 80's on the show. Check em out my friend
Earth Angel now heavens angel ...gone way to soon gone but never forgotten...forever loved ...forever missed ..loved eternally...loved more than anyone will never know GBNF ❤
I watched these guys in Concert at the WindCreek Casino in Atmore, AL lastnight. They were all there including Bobby Brown & Johnny Gill.. They put on a great show but I would have loved to hear them sing this song.
They were on Solid Gold an awful lot! Did they ever appear on this show to promote their 1983 Candy Girl album or was "Cool It Now" their first appearance? I know they did'nt do American TV too much for Candy Girl because they were too busy touring England and the rest of the US during 1983 (explains why they appeared on Soul Train and Dancin On Air exactly one year after Candy Girl was released).
@ABSAT01 When "Candy Girl" was released in the spring of 1983, BET had already expanded to 6 hours daily. According to Donnie Simpson (who became VJ of Video Soul in the summer of 1983), the network did'nt have that many videos to play because of the limited black videos available. I find that far from true because there were alot of black videos, its just that many of them were not played on major outlets. New Edition did perform of NY Hot Tracks live in late 1983.
The "Under The Blue Moon" album was not the soundtrack to "The Karate Kid". This cover of "Earth Angel" was on "The KArate Kid Part 2" soundtrack & the mild success of it made MCA want New Edition to do an album of nothing but cover songs.
@soulchildsacomin New Edition really didn't promote Candy Girl or any songs from that album on television much. One reason being was that unlike, today black artist then had very limited shows to appear on. Outside of Soul Train and the Black special (Lou Rawls Telethon) that pretty much was it. Their first real crossover top 10 pop hits came out with The New Edition Album, "Cool It Now" and "Mr. Telephone Man". B.E.T. only ran for 2 hours late night on the TBS network before becoming a network.
@djw80158 I've been a new edition fan since 2006 and have done plenty of research on them. I've been a michael jackson fan since I was 5 and i don't see much movement resemblance in this performance
Is it me or this performance being lip synced? It sounds identical to the studio recording of of this song? I wouldn’t care I love new edition either way.
