Its Because, He Got The Inside Scoop On How The Music Business Works ...But Ronnie, He Got Into Real Estate And Did Very Well With It (DeVoe Realities Is Still In Effect)
I grew up with New Edition...still have my way too small concert T-shirts. This group was beyond special and I hope they're music is still loved 100 years from now.
this video is 30 years old..Back then, you couldn't say they didn't have those steps. Every dance routine, was always on point, regardless the issues they had as a group...I love them to this day, NE 4ever!!!
eliza anders Yeah I was just telling my wife that docudramas tend to put too big of a spotlight on the arguments/disagreements anyway. It wasn't all about that. So bump that. Let's continue to enjoy our fond memories of them.
They can still perform like this today..Proof is in the Legacy Tour 2023. NE still got that choreography. They haven't missed a beat. Ralph is still nail it at 54 years old. 40 years later. Ralph talks about being vegan and vitamins which make him one of the best front man of all time🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Ralph nailed the dance sequence from 3:06-3:22, I love the break the strings are so melodic and Ralph hits those steps with such accuracy, its so lovely to watch.
These are MY Temptations. They have a David Ruffin, aka Bobby. They have an Eddie Kendricks aka Ralph. Three members of The Temptations even toured as a trio aka BBD. They even have an OTIS aka Michael Bivins! #NE4EVER
My favorite group growing up. I honestly think they are one of the most underrated groups. Much better than any of the "white" boy bands who were popular around the world because of their skin color.
They were really famous over here in the UK, Candy Girl was bigger here, im a london white boy grew up in the 80's, i will never forget how much this music meant to me growing up, whatever skin colour that happened to be singing it.
@Van lyke...yes, and NKOTB did not have nearly the talent or skills of New Edition, yet they became more famous and sold more merchandise all over the world because they were white. Understandably, New Edition was not happy about that--and I don't blame them.
bomjam 2 yeah but its all water under the bridge with both groups...though it is hilarious when Mike was being interviewef on behond the music and "what's this? man they got baby dolls and ish, why we dont have any?"....I crack up everytime I see it. Their episode was here on youtube but since the movie came out, they pulled it down
This talent is so overwhelming. They were taken advantage of because they were so young and didn't have appropriate management. May God continue to bless these wonderful and talented men and their families.
On this day in 1985 {November 16th} the New Edition performed "Count Me Out" on the above episode of the nationally syndicated television program, 'Soul Train'... At the time "Count Me Out" was at position #28 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, four weeks later it would peak at #2 {for 2 weeks}, and the two records that kept it out of the top spot were "Caravan of Love" by Isley, Jasper, & Isley and "Don't Say No Tonight" by Eugene Wilde... It reached #51 on Billboard's Top 100 chart... And on the same 'ST' episode they also performed "Lost In Love", earlier in 1985 it peaked at #6 on the Hot Black Singles chart... Between 1983 and 2004 the Boston, Massachusetts group had twenty two records on the Hot Black Singles chart, fourteen made the Top 10 with five* reaching #1, "Candy Girl" for 1 week in 1983, "Cool It Now" for 1 week in 1984, "Mr. Telephone Man" for 3 weeks in 1985, "Can You Stand The Rain" for 2 weeks in 1989, and 'Hit Me Off" for 3 weeks in 1996... Two of their twenty two charted records were duets, one each with Little Anthony and Missy Elliott... R.I.P. Don Cornelius {1936 - 2012}... * They just missed having two more #1 records when their "If It Isn't Love" {1988} and the above "Count Me Out" peaked at #2 on the Hot Black Singles chart...
Because everybody in NE was super short besides Ronnie he is only 6 foot mike, rick are only 5,5 Ralph is like 5,7 Bobby was the next tallest to Ronnie
Maaannn listen this performance is TOO CUTE--Ralph looking tasty as always and that lil shoulder shimmy at 2:56 is the business. They were tight without Bobby and Johnny even though JG was a great addition. BB needs to get it all the way together, but I have love for them all.
i grew up on groups that came before them and what i liked about N E s steps reminds me of the unifics the whispers and the temptations mixed in with hip hop but not to much of the other. but well balanced in the fusing
now people compare then to the jackson5 but they were totally different NE is a quartet. singing group who for the most part did steps innunasen. where the j5 were a combonation band. 5 members just like NE.but all member in NE danced. where as in the j5 3 memebers danced and the other two played bass and guitar one cousin on drums and one on keyboards so thats where combo group come into play
@Coolyfett Blue Moon droped in 86, by my knowledge Bobby didn't officially get booted out the group until December of 85. He missed several shows, photo shoots, etc. that year though.
I don't think New Edition doing an oldies album was a bad idea. I just think if they did Motown songs, it would have been better received. The 50's songs the producers choice were not the best or were very memorable. One other thing is that people don't seem to realize that Bobby leaving the group ultimately SAVED New Edition from the fate of all the other groups of that time who are no longer around today. It forced New Edition to grow up & evolve with Jam & Lewis plus entering Johnnie Gill.
Under The Blue Moon went Gold. When I bought it at the time I thought it was a new song album (I didn't know Earth Angel was a remake at the time) and was mad when I first listen to it. My mom loved the album though.lol Earth Angel was a minor hit (Karate Kid Pt 2 soundtrack- Ralph had to love that aspect of it) and Hey There Lonely Girl was a dope remake (Ricky Bell lead vocals).
Tight upload!!!, Could you please find and upload New Edition's performance of "Let's Be Friends" on Soul Train. It was on this same episode and they had on the same Red outfits. Thank you.
2024 anybody ?Real Music for grown ups.
That Ralph Tresvant was a dynamic lead singer.
Absolutely he is!!
Yes my baby was!
What you talking about. He is out of this world. Full of charisma!!
Biv was smart. Immediately he knew NE was being taken advantage of. Gotta give him his props. Currently watching _The New Edition Story_ Part 2.
Its Because, He Got The Inside Scoop On How The Music Business Works ...But Ronnie, He Got Into Real Estate And Did Very Well With It (DeVoe Realities Is Still In Effect)
Mike Bivins is also the richest alumni of New Edition!
Hot head Brown cried back in the day when Wifey was alive that he lost over 12 million dollars.
David Richardson. bro this the third. NE video i saw you on
I see this guy on every new edition video
Yo...you gotta give Ralph his props. He was and still is a great front man.
Probably the best front man to ever do it.
@@derrickt9211 Michael Jackson might have something to say about that but nonetheless Ralph was great
Man Ralph is the shit, from a teenager. His delivery is just different and flawless.
Ralph was definitely underrated..

true...New Edition for life
The footwork on Mike at 1:25 is amazing
I keep telling people they were sleeping on Biv.
BET New Edition Story-- scene where Bobby snortin' coke in his mother's house brought me here :D
@William L. Dobbs go back and watch, they did actually have red suits on while Bobby was watching tv. They did such a good job!
Jasmine Nicole he wasn’t Nottingham he was bagging it up he was selling at that time to provide for his kids
He wasn’t snorting coke, he was weighing & bagging it, nobody snorts coke using a scale. Watch that seen again.
Same sitting here watching it now
Bobby brown got his shit together

Ralph T, the smoothest front man in the history of music!!!
For a boy band I agree he was smooth. You forgot a frontman who was a smooth operator. Morris Day was smooth. Ice Cream Castles. 🕺

Performance perfection. They all look so handsome but Ralph's got my heart in the palm of his hand.
Ralph looked so YUMMY in RED!!! He has a beautiful bone structure, eyes, and skin tone!!

So was Ricky Paul and Ronnie Melvin?

CharronBlue exactly Bobby, Ralph & Johnny started their own group just like David, Eddie & Denis did at their time
Mason Hill yes
I just notice people on soul train wore the most craziest shit. I just saw a dude dressed in a pirate outfit
Alex Ramos I think it was Halloween time
My favorite group growing up.

You mean bell biv devoe featuring Ralph. The name that goes after featuring is usually the lead singer. For example maze featuring Frankie Beverly.
