  • In this video I show you how to make a classic circle skirt with added pockets. Because its 2020 and everything needs more pockets.
    They're a classic for a reason, they look great and are so much fun to twirl in. With a few easy steps (and a lot of pins) this tutorial will show you how to make your own in no time at all.
    In this video I will show you:
    - how to create a perfect pattern using your own measurements
    - how easy it is to add in a pocket or two
    -styling ideas

      Or is there a part in particular I could help with?

    Thank you so much for this easy to understand vid. I will be making a poodle skirt for a cosplay this year, and this vid has given me confidence that i can do it. This will be my first ever piece of clothing. I usually make plushies.

    Figuring out the pockets threw me for a loop at first because I didn't know if you were pinning the pockets on on the "wrong" side. It was hard to tell for me because tbe fabric was a solid color...
    I figured it out though and was soooo happy!

    Hello! Thanks so much for this tutorial I'm going to be using it soon, just ordering my fabric now, the website is useful and says I need fabric that is 150cm across but not the length 😂 I'm thinking of getting 3 meters just to be safe, do you think this would be enough? Cheers 😊

    • @TheUnevenStitch
      @TheUnevenStitch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's so exciting to hear! 3m would be more than enough. I think I had 2m of the fabric. I always tend to buy more than I need though as 1) I'm overly cautious
      2) What if I go wrong??? (I think this is the same mentality that makes me pack 12 pairs of pants for a three day trip- just in case!)
      and
      3) If you have leftover fabric you have more fabric to make more things 😆
      Hope this response got to you in time. Keep me posted on how it goes!

    Question, would it work with an elastic waist? I've never sewn a zip before and I'm a little nervous

    • @TheUnevenStitch
      @TheUnevenStitch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It definitely would but you'd need to make the waistband a little wider to use as your starting measurement so it could stretch as you take it on and off. I recommend using your hip circumference rather than waist. I do this exact process in my bedsheet transformation video if you'd like to see (just with a half circle skirt rather than a full one).
      Zips are definitely a bit scary and fiddly I agree. I get my students at school to practice on offcuts of fabric before moving onto the real thing.
      Hope this helps!

    Hi so I don’t know if you’ll see this but I’m working on a skirt for a bigger gal and the circumference of the skirt when all stitched up is much larger than the waist band, Do I just need to gather the skirt?

    • @TheUnevenStitch
      @TheUnevenStitch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Does the waistband fit or is that too small? If too small make another waistband that will fit the skirt and the wearer.
      If it's just the skirt that's the issue I'd suggest two options:
      1. If you don't mind adding volume at the waist then gathers or pleats would work. Darts might also be a shout if it wouldn't effect how the skirt fits over the tummy.
      2. If you don't want more volume at the waistband- you could just move one of the side seams in until the waist is the right circumference. It would mean resetting the pocket but it's probably less work than spacing out pleats or gathers.
      Hope this helps!

    The waistband was going to be the death of me! I sewed it FIVE TIMES until I got in on right, last time I sewed it in the front fully opened backwards, turned it around and top stitched it so the back is on properly I swear I almost gave up 😂
