OMG YESSSS !!! YOU RULE !!! I can't take NOT having pockets in some stuff !!! I put things down I'd need to have with me , and then of course can't remember where I put it !!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 This was a cute fun video too !!! I'm excited to start tearing things apart now !!! 😂😁🤗
To Start: Fun/informative video . Only 7:52 But the clincher was .... the video thumbnail of you pulling a chocolate chip (something) out of the pocket...SALE!
This is basically the exact tutorial I was looking for to figure out how to go about putting pockets in a pair of my old fave pj pants. The only difference is mine are some kind of stretchy material (maybe rayon? idk the tag is too old and worn) Any advice for trying on stretchy for this relative newbie?
I don’t have a tutorial for opening a seam BUT i do have another pocket vid that should help. It’s how to create a pocket pattern and the steps to sew a seam with a pocket. I can’t link to it but it’s in my popular videos tab!
The technical name for the pocket that is put in a flat part of the clothing is called a "welt" pocket and is mindbending until it clicks. I mean, the first step is to sew the fabric piece to the front of the item (good side), then cut and stuff it through the >------< shaped hole. Very odd, very cool. I can supply links? (I'm a visual learner too)
it's amazing how people can over-complicate things (I saw one tutorial with 9? pieces, it was a bit absurd imo) Tock doing Welt Pockets: th-cam.com/video/GlafbayYyyc/w-d-xo.html

Yup! That was everything I hoped it would be, and also more! If we made pockets from water proof fabric, we could store all kinds of snacks in them!
Great helpful video, beautiful vibes , I subscribe
very helpful !!! ❤❤❤
❤Thanks! Have a great day!!
you explained this very well, and it doesn't seem too hard...but I still think I'm gonna a slap an external pocket on my sweats. 😅
Oh and when sewing knits / stretchy fabric, a zigzag stick is the way to go.
When going with the stretch yes, but when going along the less stretchy way I use a straight stitch for structure.

@@BreaknRemake Thank you! I’ll find it. I’m just not sure how to close it back up again. I’m the type to be at work when my pants unravel... 😅😂
Oh Please do add a pocket on woven cotton. I actually am doing pants that the pocket is on the back then folded to the front.
I REALLY need to learn to put a pocket in a rip-stop pair of pants, Help!! No side seams. I am trying to follow you here!

Welt pockets can be done with the grain or diagonally, which is nice.
Yes exactly! I like a simple single welt pocket! 3 pieces, no more.
