I am alone for the first time in over a month. While I sometimes have the tendency to distract myself with my phone, I took this time to do some of the things I love the most: caring for my plants, finding solutions to problems with my van build, practicing yoga, and journaling. It is through activities like these that I come back to myself, that I feel like a true partner to myself. It is the perfect time to reflect on the difference between the first month on the road, where I felt so, SO lonely, and now, where I am comfortable and at peace in my aloneness. Wherein lies the difference? Watch to find out :)
This week the lady van village explored the Missouri River and Missoula, Montana. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, exercise, alone time, and community. Upon our arrival in Missoula, I realized some important things about myself... so without further ado, here is my confession....

So you hate all rich people or is it all young people that still live around their parents? or is it both? Maybe if you looked for the good in people you'd see things different.
Your thoughts on being alone reminded me of the quote by Paul Tillich, “Loneliness expresses the pain of being alone, Solitude expresses the glory of being alone”.
Rain and a lot of little hail... so nice to have a van to be in in that! I've been caught in it in tents and more than once up on a mountain while hiking... much prefer snow to rain and hail! But as may be - what a lovely spot to spend some time connecting more deeply with yourself in a time of peace and happiness. That's the magic.

I agree with Dan below, that you have a certain charming wit, and your outlook on life. is very refreshing. The segment about the rain and hail was perhaps my favorite as I love the sound of rain on a metal roof. I find it soothing, and under the right circumstances a bit romantic. It's hard leaving friends you've met travelling! While on San Juan Island I met a mike that played a mean guitar, so we lower yourself down into rock chimney with friends! I took him scuba diving an he let me pilot his 42' Swedish build sailboat. Hard to say goodbye to mean guitar an 42' sailboat!
This sounds like such an epic blast! It is hard, but also makes it so beautiful when we come back together after time of self reflection and alone time :)

Self Partner? Never looked at that way but then again, when I was without a partner it was exactly what was doing until something changed. As long as I wasn't lonely, and I never was it was "Mind Over Matter". I didn't Mind and it didn't Matter.
I honestly think my time alone is my favourite time! , I can get bored but I just get on with things when I do 👌

Hi, new follower, I just subscribed yesterday I think. I love that I found another vegan van lifer. Gardein f'sh fillets are so yummy but I've only eaten them the regular old way with the vegan tartar sauce I make. That bowl looks so good! I'm moochdocking currently with 2 cats, hoping to be out having adventures by the summer. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
I've felt alone and lonely many times in my life, and it took a long time to learn to live with it. It didn't have to take this long but the times didn't make it easy. I finally learned that it was better to have no one around than to have the wrong person around. If somebody says why do you talk to yourself? I say its usually the best conversation I have all day. I also learned that I'm just the kind of person who would probably rather be by myself than try to get along with somebody who isn't who I think is the best match. Now I think it would be better to have the right person around, but that is a hard thing to find.

I'm old. You have to be your own best friend throughout life. There are few permanent friends or enemies, life is a roller coaster (feeling down? You will go back up.), treat yourself the way you want other people to treat you---with love and patience. Quit picking on yourself. Life will do that for you. Happy New Year!!!!
Dremel tools have cutting wheels! I cut bolts with them!!! Just be careful and take your time. Have a glass of water nearby to cool bolt as you cut it!

I’ve tried still meditations here or there, but my preferred methods are moving meditations through yoga and climbing. Bullet journaling feels meditative for me as well, and it includes a gratitude list!
