Restoring 1,000 acres in the wilderness to give back habitat for wild animals, it is rewarding to see the progress. Congratulations Maddie. I was just in Carmel area last week. I love the coast line from Santa Cruz to Carmel, and down the coast too. It can be so peaceful.
The way you convey your thoughts and connect them to a place with little cues and abstractions is so pleasant and interesting to watch. Going “home” always creates that odd junction of pride, anxiety, unknowing, and comfort. Your curiosity about how the adventure you’ve been on would make home feel was so apparent, as was your conclusion: home is where we find and feel our center, but what happens to that center when our home is wherever we want it to be?
Love Santa Cruz. Been to that part of California many times and it’s always been my favorite.
Maddie, you have come far both in miles and your videos, editing and best of all the friendships you have made.

Maddie, I had not known that you planted the Younger Lagoon area. I have been running out there 3, 4X a week, training for a madness running event. The lagoon's overlook has become my go-to midway rest stop and each and every time I go there I am reenergized to continue the run. This is a beautiful video. Welcome back. First signs of fall here in the Southern US is being able to see under and through the trees where the undergrowth just seems to wither away and the air is again in motion.
It’s so good to see the regeneration of the land you worked on. I’ve really been in lots of emotional distress for years now looking at all the destruction of habitat everywhere. This is food for the soul. I truly thank you.
There’s nothing like being home again to experience the nostalgic warmth that wraps us in comforts and past memories.

My first year was so transformational with myself and I had only planned on it being in the van for 1 year, but now I cant stop.
I'm so inspired and happy by what youve achieved in restoring the indigenous California heathland. I have to tell you that I'm a huge, HUGE, elephantine, gargantuan supporter of rewilding. And I'm so so so proud of you for restoring the native vegetation of this land. I am a Bible believing Hebrew Christian who strongly believes that humans need to be stewards of God's Earth so this video has touched my heart on a very deep emotional and spiritual level. Love love love the coast, the surf, the pelicans, the signs you present of the coming of autumn. And I do so so love the narration you provide about the nature and flora. It's such important Godly work you're doing. Love seeing you and Anna enjoy life.
