The distinction between renovation and remodeling needs to be understood by all these so-called TH-cam “renovators.” Renovating a house involves upgrading/moving systems like electrical, plumbing, framing/roofing/siding, windows, HVAC, and anything structural. Remodeling is painting, flooring, tiling, cabinetry, new appliances, and lighting, as well as adding features, like this bookcase. What is shown here is not renovating. It’s remodeling.

The chimney just seemed to crumble. Glad you guys took it apart before it fell apart and potentially caused damage or hurt somebody. Also glad you guys are having professionals help with the roof, that is not something I would want to do.

Nice work. Keep an eye on the salt lamp in the corner, ours just started melting/dripping after a year or so. We caught it on time but I imagine it can ruin your shelves.

You are so brave. When I bought my house in Northern Germany 2 years ago, I looked at the old 60yr old roof and just thought... hmm no way. It also doesnt have that much insulation but I am not game to try.
