When are you going to review mc laren
If you made it out of black and grey blocks you'd have a very cool gothic dark souls/Bloodborne style cathedral
Interestingly, although we associate gothic architecture with dark walls, gargoyles and hidden corners these cathedrals were exceptionally airy and bright inside because of the larger windows compard with romanism and the light shade of the (unweathered) limestone.
@@klausm5460 oh some definitely had space for sure, but there is countless different varieties of gothic, look at the likes of the St Mary's cathedral in Edinburgh its very much a small Victorian gothic style
Those nighttime videos of that opium cathedral in Cologne, Germany
@@user-fg3dz5kv7q My GF works in the gift shop that literally shares a wall with the Cologne Cathedral. And as usual, when it's close to you you don't go there often enough.
... or one representing the charring after the fire ??
How dense this build would be
Yeah, so for 4 300 pieces, there must be a lot of small pieces... (and here the ratio price / piece is an illusion 😆)
Tbh I'd add the cross on the top of the tower. It is an iconic part of an iconic building so why not? We did get american flag on the white house so they allow it in some cases and I don't see anything controversial about it.
Love the look of the set you have gone above and beyond to explaine the different years of construction
I've experienced the huge repetition of the Tour eiffel, so I think that if I bring the new set of Notre Dame, I will find it enjoyable. I can't wait to buy it
The first detailed and fair review of this interesting set, though i regret the very small scale limiting details. Well done Balazs !
1:03 Ah yes, a good way to open the box for Future 18+ sets.
We used to have a lovely lid, with artwork on the box both inside and outside.
@@diatonicdelirium1743and a quote on one of the edges
yeah its way better than the usual ways
That’s a stunning architecture set. The design really lends itself to Lego and the designers did a fantastic job.
Its good but that circular window print should have been far more colourful
This opens the gate to a plethora of iconic cathedrals - from the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona to the Duomo Firenze, St. Peter in Rome or St. Stephens in Vienna.
Glad to see it passed the swooshability test.
They need to do a lego Hagia Sophia
Nice build. Thank you for the preview. Great insight.
great set, I will definitely get it if I can find it cheaper, the detailed presentation video was good, Balázs 🙂
I hope I'll get to build the Florence Cathedral one day.
I have to say I love the box opening like that! Will make it easier for those who don’t like doing the build in one sitting
Here's me hoping they'll do Cologne and/or Salisbury Cathedrals one day as well.
I'm waiting for Henry VII's Lady Chapel in Westminster. With regards to Gothic architecture, it doesn't get better than that.
@@Softmatic I see where you are coming from, but I'm personally partial to the simpler, cleaner form of Salisbury Cathedral.
@@Softmatic woah i had no idea that that part of westminster abbey was built separate and paid for by Henry VII that's a real interesting fact thank you for enlightening me
@@Softmatic i thought immediately after seeing this build that it looked a lot like westminster abbey itself too i thought that was really awesome
@@yungwaifu indeed it came later in the Flamboyant (Perpendicular) Gothic style
How good are you at reviewing, I’m not the biggest technic fan. But your reviews are one of the best on the web. Thanks
Great design! Perfect size/details ratio! Looks very impressive!
by far the best Lego set to come out as a fan of Lego architecture sets, thank you for the deep review of this wonderful set. :)
These deteails are very great! I think this set presents the building's structures very accurate. I missed that standpoint from another architect sets. So it will be my first architect set😊. Thanks for the review!
Very advanced and dense build! Cool! 😊
A beautiful construction, with a celebre monument.
It's a nice set. Not for me but nice. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.
One beautiful set
love this guy
This is an awesome set to start building Architecture. I hope one day I can afford it
With interior areas being obscured as the building progresses, detailed photos taken as well can create an additional display opportunity along with the actual physical build.
Thank you for the video.
Very cute.
It looks pretty nice
Il like it ! I'm sure interesting B models will emerge ! So much tan bricks for classicals builds.
mmmm... where do you put wheels and the motor to making it go? 🤔
I'm surprised the Royale Eijsbouts aren't mentioned. They are the forgers of many important bells of important churches, including the Notre-Dame
Quite nice but smaller than I expected. Having built the Himeji Castle and pyramid I’m tempted, but it’ll need to be cheaper. What’s next from the Architecture series? Cologne cathedral please!
2:46 The last time I visited Notre-Dame, there were burgundy curtains inside to drown out the noise of the city when someone enters, so maybe that's the red colour.
Still, doesn't look nice.
I always wanted.
The Religious aspect is kind of redundant at this point because literally how many shrines, and temples have we already seen from The Ninjago or I guess Monke Kids theme? That aside this is a spectacular set, and despite the repetitious nature of the build looks well worth the time as it should be able to display anywhere. Engineering the build as it was originally constructed is also a very clever touch. Between this the Icons Lamborghini, and GOTG Milano Lego is turning out some award winning sets this Spring/Summer season.
good point. i feel like most people will see this as something Paris-related rather than religious. No other Euro-American religious structure can get away with this.
hope to see speed champions set review in next video
Quite good set. I would like to build it. But i don’t have the money nor the place to put it. Very good review.
Would love if they would do the Hagia Sophia, St. Peter's Basilica, or Cologne Cathedral next. Both are amazing architectural wonders outside of their religious functions.
glad someone agrees! But the first two might be very controversial, and the last isn't as well known. Notre-Dame is just barely well-known among cathedrals because it's an icon of Paris.
I need this so bad 😭🙏
Nice how long time wise it took u to complete and build this set
Sagrada familia or other gaudi building w would be cool, though their organic elements could be a challenge with lego
I personally love it and cant wait to have it exposed somewhere in my apartment
I cant wait to see how this will look next to the Eiffel Tower. Soon i will have a scale model of all of Paris!!!
Last boxes like these were classic space ones.
The advantage of the size being not too big is that its easier to display. Looks like a great set for architecture lovers. Looks very nice. I wouldnt buy it because I generally dont like too much repetition.
I hope the interiors could be opened up easily for viewing
Does it come with fire/flame elements?
Why did they remove the cross?
Is it flammable?
Actually the tuxedo cat has a similar box opening
Sad to see they didn't use the version that was burned down 😂
As an architecture student, I can safely confirm my wallet will burn this summer🤩
Looks better in person! Cool
this makes me want an anor londo in lego
for most people if you’re not speed building to get a video out, that can help reduce the repetitive nature I think
This build looks very good but too expensive for me
Thank you for your great content! Keep it up!
anyone who's interested in the history, check out this video (not mine):
Notre Dame of Paris: Narrated Construction Sequence by Myles Zhang
Really enjoyed your video! The detail you've put into this is amazing. I also share Lego builds on my channel if you're interested.
This set is fire! 😁👍
I was hoping for some clever technique for building that round wall at the back...
Not sure why it is not clever enough for you, there are multiple layers of curved walls, connecting to each other with a different radius
@@RacingBrick Is this making it retain the curved shape? seems like something that can be deformed with touch and make some of those details fall off. But I would need to check it irl to see if I'm right.
@@SaperPl1 it should be sturdy enough with minimal contact and softer handling
Can you burn it?
I was raised religious, but am not religious whatsoever as an adult and avoid it at all costs, but I absolutely love cathedrals from an architectual and human standpoint. They’re just amazing and the people’s dedication to building them over decades and even hundreds of years is incredible. I hope they do other cathedrals!
To me medieval cathedrals are internal human spiritual world brought down to earth. You do not have to be religious to appreciate that
Same, I loved building cathedrals in Minecraft, it's so much fun
Sadly no organ inside. You dont want to know how big the organ is, it huge. I miss the basic interior besides the pilars. Its nice but expected more.
There are 40 or 41 magic wands
This is fire 🔥
This is fire🔥
First! Really cool set
and where is The CROSS?
i think their is 40 magic wands
I'll guess 24 golden wands.
24 star wands?
Way more!
I counted 40 in the model. Knowing Lego, they'll add a spare, so I'd guess 41.
So now just awaiting Hagia Sophia....
Certainly nowhere near in scale with the eiffel tower, its 1:342 compared to 1:200 with the eiffel tower, so almost twice the scale
This is an architecture set, whereas the eiffel tower is an icon set. Hence the difference. Same with big ben and tower bridge, also a different scale.
A masterpiece to buy after I studied in restoration course Viollet-le-duc
20
44 magic wands lol just shows how mythical this "fantastique" build is
I am constantly amazed by the way Lego designers use pieces that are very visually specific to create a completely different visual impression.
@@johnnewell5025 nowhere more than the Botanical sets!
Warhammer vibes
No Quasimodo minifig! 🙄
Was this your first Architecture set? I don't think the theme is for you!! 😝
40 magicwan
imo last years himeji castle is much better set
The repetition would be hideous
What the hell ever happened to Legos? We’re going to go to paper bags.
Still no news about the technic mclaren? I mean I HEAR they want to releas ik august 1st 1:31 insted of jullie 1stcorrect me if im wrong but why would they do that it always has been july 1st its not a first world problem but just want to know why it changed
Waiting for Schloss Neuschwanstein at the same level of detail!
40
I would never want accuracy or design to be sacrificed for build experience.
LMAO I mean what do you expect on architecture set building experience ??? I mean If you want more detail then ask LEGO to make a ICON sets on bigger scale.
Nothing againt the famous religious buildings. LEGO should do famous Mosques, Synagogs and other exeptional themples too.
As an ex-catholic now atheist I don´t mind at all that LEGO decided to include a church in the architecture lineup. I love gothic architecture and as buildings and showcase of medieval ingenuity these cathedrals are worth getting coverage and admiration.
I have always thought that Lego has a no-go policy towards religious buildings and sets.. Yet here is clearly a cathedral but with crosses removed 😮
i feel like most people will see this as something more Paris-related than religious
I thought so as well, as even these skyline sets never include religious buildings.
If this is too religious, how about the taj mahal?
The taj mahal is a burial, not a religious building.
Love how it looks, but based on how it looks in reviews it won't fit my IKEA display cabinet (containing most of the architecture sets) so I don't really know where I'd put it...
Cool build just don’t burn it. ( im french)
what, zero fire flame pieces? c'mon, we need an alternate built when it is on fire 🔥🔥 🔥
