I’ve never been a Lego Architecture type of person, but WOW. Notre Dame definitely caught my attention. Can’t wait to make a video on it, showcasing all of its details! It’s so stunning! 😍
Great - appreciated the model’s building process that reflects how the actual structure was constructed. As an architect I also truly enjoyed the enthusiasm of the creator. Nice video too! Just purchased the model because of this interview -
The attention to detail and sheer enthusiasm on show here is thoroughly impressive! I'm not usually interested in architecture sets (despite being an architecture geek outside of Lego) but I might not be able to resist this one. I can't wait to see your full review!
As a fan of historic architecture, I can’t wait for this set! I love seeing the passion and enthusiasm the designer has for his work. I’m looking forward to future architecture sets he’s designed.
This “following construction order” was something I had been suggesting for years in the post-build feedback surveys! One of my favorite series growing up was David Macaulay’s, where he revealed how castles/cathedrals/etc were built!
Oh yeah: I had the movie on just as background noise while I was building this. I did the same with Imperial March when I was building my Super Star Destroyer.

Chorus: Now here is a riddle to guess if you can sing the bells of Notre Dame Quasimodo: What makes a monster and what makes a man Chorus: Sing the bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, BELLS OF NOTRE DAME!
That is the one legitimate complaint that people have that I agree with but the fact that you can remove the roof mitigates this somewhat. Still it would have been nice to have the facade removable to incorporate into my city.
I never thought Lego would actually be cool with making official sets based on churches, but I'm glad they are now. After Notre Dame I want to see Orthodox Churches being made into sets next.
Next, Hagia Sofia or the Parthenon! Uves Stave Church (oldest viking church) in Norway would also be cool! I know that this is very Euro centric but they are objectively very beutifull buildings that also would be perfect for Lego builds!
Well LEGO, now that you’ve broken your “cardinal” rule of “no churches” you can go ahead and make a loooooong overdue church for the Winter Village series! 🙂
Wow, as a Catholic I am stunned. Amazing. Truly a work of art, very similar to how the real life cathedral is an artistic testament to the glory of God.
LEGO Eiffel Tower / LEGO Notre-Dame (spire) = 59 in / 13 in = 4.53. Eiffel Tower / Notre-Dame (spire) = 984 ft / 315 ft = 3.12. LEGO Notre-Dame should have been (4.53 / 3.12) x 13 in = 18.9 in to be in scale to LEGO Eiffel Tower. Almost 50% off. There's a drawing by Maurice Koechlin (the actual designer of the Eiffel Tower) that compares both, in his Wikipedia entry. Check it out.
Lego has broken so many of their policies in recent years, that I don't think it really matters anymore. In this case, it's a break in their policies I can actually get behind.
It was supposed to but Lego is a complete joke (although you'd have figured that one out by yourself by now). Their supposed "policies" are regularly bent all the way around like pretzels according to the way the money's blowing. (Sure, Lego's aim is to make a maximum of money, but no one forces them to come up with a these policies in the first place!) Same thing with their variable-sweep policies regarding the representation of weapons, military etc.
It looks amazing but doesn't it go against Lego policies about religious buildings (I did notice how both Lego and designer went out of their way not to say the word "Cathedral" like not putting it in the name of the set, etc...).

@@heidikohne6895 It looks a little smaller scale than the Eiffel Tower. The real Eiffel Tower is about 4 times taller than Notre Dame, so a lego scale Notre Dame should be about 14 in (35 cm) to the top of the towers, or 19 in (48 cm) to the spire. The specifications say this is 13 in high, which I'm guessing is to the spire. So it's about 2/3 lego Eiffel Tower scale.
props to Lego for hiring a guy with so much passion and knowledge!
I’ve never been a Lego Architecture type of person, but WOW. Notre Dame definitely caught my attention. Can’t wait to make a video on it, showcasing all of its details! It’s so stunning! 😍
Great interview with the builder. His passion sold me. I’ll make space. I’ve been there too before and after the fire. It’s overwhelmingly impressive.

Brilliant and talented man, the notra dome’s attention to detail is absolutely amazing

This looks like a reasonable scale model compared to the Eiffel Tower and colosseum
This is going to be an epic built while listening to the song "bells of notre dame" from the Disney animated movie.
Sing the Bells Bells Bells Bells Bells Bells Bells
BELLS OF NOTRE DAME!!!

The only complaint I have is that it's hard to see inside once it's done.
That is the one legitimate complaint that people have that I agree with but the fact that you can remove the roof mitigates this somewhat. Still it would have been nice to have the facade removable to incorporate into my city.
Ok, ya got me to pre-order. Ka-ching! Can't wait to start working on it. :)
A must buy. I cannot wait to see this and build it.
I’m so excited for this one!!
I never thought Lego would actually be cool with making official sets based on churches, but I'm glad they are now.

i’d kill for an il duomo. just more architecture sets in general
@@canona3325 ah yes. the the cathedral
he tried real hard not to say the c word during his presentation lol

Now Lego can make a synagogue
And a Mosque. 😂
First and Second Temple in Jerusalem, Tabernacle too. Beautiful sets if they make them. St Paul’s too.
Well LEGO, now that you’ve broken your “cardinal” rule of “no churches” you can go ahead and make a loooooong overdue church for the Winter Village series! 🙂
After bill gave me star wars DVDs for home Training I totally realized how big that story goes with Lego
I like the late but new b-model of Big Ben! And you can put them together and it looks like one set.
The build table behind Matthew has a few pieces scattered about. Makes me wonder what he has up his sleeve.
Wow, as a Catholic I am stunned. Amazing. Truly a work of art, very similar to how the real life cathedral is an artistic testament to the glory of God.
I’m impressed he was able to do as much as he did without using catholic images so at least we can just add them post build to truly finish it.
As a Filipino I hope they gonna do the manila cathedral next
Does it come with the flame pieces?
To recreate the iconic scene in Hunchback, where Quasimodo pours molten lead down the gargoyles?
Unfortunately not. Sold separately.

This is beautiful but I thought religious landmarks were a no-go zone for the LEGO group?

I though lego isn't supposed to have any religious sets .
To small. It's almost like a micro build. Will not buy. Looks very nice though.

I have a Chinese version of this magnificent building but this is a most definite must have I am very glad that Lego has done this
