If you thought this was a great reveal good for you, bro, but it's extremely underwhelming in my opinion and the wrong way to reveal a really important suit because if this movie doesn't do big numbers, the DCU is screwed... When your reveal of the new suit generates hundreds of memes, and none of them are complimentary, you've definitely made a mistake in the way you revealed it... I don't know if it'll look much better if he's standing up and it's well lit, but it's gotta look better than this mess with the bunching up at the shoulders and the looseness at the wrists... It looks like a jacket or a sweater that his mom knitted for him

Man, honestly I think they'll keep the DCU going even if Gunn's movies don't meet expectations. WB can't admit their mistakes so that's why they'll keep the DCU going.
If it isn't an origin film, why does he have a starter suit? People complained about a dark brooding Superman in MOS, but now it's OK to do? This isn't a great photo at all. This was the first impression. You only get one shot at that, and they blew it.

That Superman looks like your coworker putting on his motorcycle suit for the long commute home. He does not look triumphant, hopeful, purposeful, strong, benevolent, or any of the other properties we like in Superman. He looks like "F-you, I'm going home." I can’t support this movie because of the malice shown to Henry. Love or hate his portrayal of Superman, the studio and Gunn 💩 on the man at every turn. From a humanity perspective, that’s f’d beyond reason. Anyone who thinks otherwise is simply a shill.

@@manofbeard I was on the fence about MOS. Still prefer Superman Returns over that film. It wasn’t terrible but just not for me. Henry brought class and respect to the character. That sits much higher with me than the film itself. For a man to be as honorable and respectful as Henry…the way he’s been treated is disgusting. Cavill embodies the “personality characteristics” of Superman in his life. How could any fan of the character despise that? Blows my mind tbh.

I don't hate the actor I just don't like the darker tones of the suit and it's way too baggy. The suit looks like it's made out of denim. I don't like the overly designed pattern on the suit. I wanted something more simplified.
I think everyone wanted something that looked classic, iconic. Just a bright, clean design that is instantly recognizable. Unfortunately we got this instead.

I want to add, in the comic or animated movie of “All Star Superman,”Superman needs help from his robots to combat Solaris; Lex get power and is working with Solaris:
1. Well in the image James release you see a green light beam striking top of Solaris.
2. Instead of the robot, this is why you need all the other heroes; they replace his robots and are an integral part of the overall story. (Gunn said this)
3. Lex will probably trick the Engineer in finding the fortress. (Remember, there we report during the time of the Crest reveal, the Engineer was in the snow with Superman. She probably found the fortress of solitude and something to give Lex powers; and Lex some way made a deal with Solaris.
4. Gunn is taking inspiration from the New 52, All Star Superman and Superman All Seasons.
5. 🚨 Gunn should had waited and run the photo through post production before releasing to the public. (I think he released the photo without post because the media may get a bad picture.
The thing is, if this is a promo shot you want it to read very quickly, there is too much ambiguity in this image for someone to be able to understand what is exactly going on. The narrative in your composition needs to be clear to the viewer. These are basic rules illustrators and designers know.

but man of steel was a masterpiece. Superman is my number 1 superhero by a mile and that movie is what I have always wanted a superman movie to be.
Snyder is very hit and miss but Man of steel was perfection to me. You want a happy funny hopeful and a goofy Clark Kent Superman movie? Just remember Superman returns and how well that was.

I was happy with the casting and wanted to be positive about the new film. However, each new piece of news is bad. Firstly, the fact that random other heroes are appearing in the film. Secondly, the S symbol design. And now this pretty dreadful suit.

It's best not to show us how Superman wears his boots. Is it this simple Alien fashion? This is far worse than Spiderman's suit and Stark's technology. If there are many unnecessary line at the costume we see, it needs to consider it in science, Because the massive friction will occure due to flying with supersonic speed power will cause the costume to tear slowly and massively in a couple of minutes. Started from the soulder, the red panties will come off, the belt sags towards the boot and makes the boot come off. The red cape fall on neighbour laundry string. Fair enough, I'm not at all personally excited for this as a whole. I suffer from reboot fatigue. Was the same with Garfield. Rebooting something for the same generation seems counterproductive to me. If nothing lasts more than a few years there doesn't seem like much of a point in investing in it. Nothing in this so far leads me to feel FOMO. It's not exciting and it doesn't draw you in.
Regardless of any context of the scene etc - you are showing the new actor for Superman, as Superman, for the very first time. You want it to be big impact. You want to show up the majesty of the character, and put him in a powerful pose. This is something you would see Deadpool do as a parody.
I feel nothing but complete apathy towards this "official reveal". I honestly thought it was AI fanart at first, and that's really not a good thing to think. No hatred towards David Corenswet, but Henry Cavill is my Superman and always will be. The way him, Snyder, Affleck, and the rest of those involved with the previous DC universe was honestly disgusting. I'll tune in for Matt Reeves' Batman projects, but that's it. I have no interest in James Gunn's DC universe and never will. With everything I've been hearing about this film and universe, it honestly just sounds like water down version of Snyder's films. But I guess this will all get a pass because it's James Gunn and not Zack Snyder. I'm also really confused on how Clark wasn't heroic in Man of Steel, Tom. I really don't wanna sound like a jerk saying this, but the defenses for this sound borderline hypocritical.

Remember when the first footage of The Batman suit came out, there was plenty of mixed responses but when the teaser trailer came out everyone started praising The Batman. So is it possible that the new Superman might be? is it possible that the new suit will grow on people when they see set photos and trailers?
Made a whole video breaking this down about what works and doesn’t for Superman. I think Gunn has a fixation on overly textured/ muted colors and Superman should have bright colors and clean lines that evoke a retro futuristic feeling.
By first impressions .. Shit.
They're not just relaunching DC, they're relaunching comic book movies. Comic book movie fatigue is real. Giving Superman a type of costume we've been seeing for 15 years on film and TV, makes this look like comic book movie no. 52. Pun intended.
