People miss the point of Lex Luthor. Lex is jealous of Superman. Lex thought he was the most powerful person on earth until he realized Superman existed. He is jealous people gravitate towards Superman’s power more than his power.
Yeah, in the Superman returns movie (Brad Routh), Lex Luthor enviously try to justify his spite of Superman by narrating The Prometheus myth ,the god that gave humans the ability to make fire but Superman won't share power or knowledge especially with him.
Superman's goodness is what makes him special. A powerful man who is selfish, greedy, malicious? There are a million of those. A powerful man who chooses to be good? That's a rare thing worth my time.
His goodness is a fraud. His goodness is untested and unproven. In the DC universe Superman is just ONE of powerful men that choose to be good. Look at Flash, Wonder woman, Icon, Blue beetle e.t.c. pluc he is just boring.
@@CaraBolsaSTUDIOSNah nah nah nah nah, I get what you mean about how good and evil aren’t always black and white, but while motives can be grey, actions and consequences are still clearly defined. It’s where the idea of ‘intention vs action’ comes from.
I honestly believe in our current societal climate people can’t fathom a character like Superman, every “hero” created in the last 2 decades have been dark, conflicted, morally ambiguous Grey characters which the general audience considers more complex, this has caused a false dichotomy where people assume if a character is a virtue of righteousness or completely evil that they’re boring when it it’s the writing and way these themes are conveyed that out power in these paragons, it’s what Superman stands for, what he chooses to do with all his power, the internal conflict he goes through dictating what is even morally acceptable to do in matters that involve global political issues that aren’t black and white, there’s so much you can gain from characters that are the pinnacle of what humans can become, it just takes a willingness to listen to the lessons being told
The problem with the public perception of Superman is that people hyperfixate on the alien god but don't acknowledge the human farmboy. Superman maintains the ideal but Clark Kent is what keeps it grounded. Superman is at his best when he's put up against problems he can't punch away and has to look at with a human perspective, like Lex Luthor. Sure if he wanted to, he could kill Lex and stop HIM specifically from committing evil, but what about the other Lex Luthors of the world who can be just as evil or ruthless? How can you punch away the disparity between the wealthy and poor, or corruption with the government without sacrificing your own values in the process, and becoming what you've always fought against, someone who gets results by abusing power? What about beings like Darkseid, who is the living incarnation of Tyranny and Evil? How can you kill something that represents a force that exists everywhere? He can't. And that's how you write Superman. As you said, to write him you have to focus on his internal struggles, make him question his place in human society, and wrestle with the burden of having so much responsibility put on himself. You focus not just on his flaws, but on things he can't accomplish with might alone.

@@ROGALLYWORLD I mean yeah, but we as viewers know that Superman is a good person and isn't storming the capital or whatever. Superman could've turned out good or bad but chooses to do good with his powers, which makes him more compelling. His family instilled in him good values, which contributed to him becoming who he is. I don't know much about The Boys but from what I've heard, Homelander was raised to be a sociopathic narcissist, so how he turned out makes sense, even though it doesn't justify his actions. But what he chooses to do with his power doesn't reflect on Superman.
I love how ppl shit on Superman and say he sucks and is stupid and forget that he was created by two jewish teenagers who escaped Holocaust to make a optimistic superhero who represented "the other." Like bro did they forget the story of Superman was conceived to combat xenophobia and antisemitism?
I never read a Superman comic book, but I did grow up with the DCAU and Smallville. Not once did I ever find Superman boring. Ironically, I started to find him boring once DC decided to mske him evil/edgy in order to be "interesting". I miss when Superman was a hero. Back when he was the lovable boy scout.
This.not everyone needs to be like Batman. You need the Goody Two shoe boyscout to balance out Batman’s “edginess”. One thing I appreciate about the MCU was they let Captain America be Captain America. They didn’t turn him into a bumbling idiot who cracks jokes 24/7, or make him a complete joke. They had him be the serious guy and the straight man that everyone can bounce the jokes and the puns off of. Like the most comedic moment in the MCU for Cap was arguably the language scene in Avengers 2 which was very in character for Cap. They had him be the moral standard that everyone aspires to. That’s what Superman needs to be
I’ve never understood this take. Spider-Man is supposed to be the ultimate hard luck hero. What makes Spider-Man special is that fact that even though his life is a shambles and he constantly gets crapped on, he never gives up. The whole point of the character. If the writers make his life easy and everything works out for him…that is no longer Spider-Man.

Even in the Black Adam post credit scene, Amanda Waller told him to go fight Black Adam. Why did it take her for Superman to go fight him? Why did they try to make Amanda Waller like Nick Fury? Who put her in charge of everything?
Superman works there cause he has characters to work off of and his pushed to the side which is good bc a guy that can carry planets isn't fun to watch for a full 2hr movie
As a Batman fan, I love Superman and hate it when he gets disrespected, he may not be my favorite but I wish we got some live action movies, series, and such with him having his original character, some of Batman's change was very pleasing but I never saw Superman as other than an alien who loves Earth and would do anything to protect the people, he's just such a great character but sadly not enough people love him. I also found the BvS movie to be ridiculous, I grew up watching old Justice League series and I enjoyed seeing these characters and their battles while also being a team, they worked together without being heavily flawed, WonderWoman wasn't a bitch, Batman wasn't this cold heartless loner, Superman wasn't an evil/morally gray character, Flash was well respected, and they didn't make the heroes/heroines villains or corrupted people with power. They're heroes because you learn from them, they save the day and teach you what's morally right.
Superman’s comeback is imminent, the new cartoon is great, a bunch of great ongoing series for the last couple of years, and hopefully next years film is great
Superman & Lois is a good interpretation as well. If we got a good Superman video game & if the 2025 film is great, we'll be in a Superman Renaissance.
I honestly don’t think Superman has been done justice on the big screen yet. Reeve came the closest and had many fantastic moments, but didn’t reach his full potential. I think the best adaptation of the character was Smallville. It maintained the core of the character while showing his journey to becoming the hero we all know, unlike the DCEU which turned him into a totally different character in an attempt to make him modern and “relatable.” Batman has finally been perfected on the silver screen with Reeves/Pattinson, so I’m hoping the same can be done with Gunn/Corenswet. Everything Gunn has said is exactly what I want to hear and see from a Superman movie.

You know what anoys me about Jonathan Kent in Men of Steel the most? It could have worked with just a bit of better writing. He was a father who worried about the safety of his adopted son and was caught between keeping Clark safe and doing/supporting what was right. That is an understandable motivation. And from there you could go to the lesson that you don't always need powers to do the right thing. That he has to be carefull when, how and why he uses his powers. To be carefull not to let his powers go to his head and becoming careless. But no, They had to go on that whole B.S. to make Superman a Jesus figure, who stands above humanity, which isn't ready for him.
2 things: 1)Christopher Nolan and David Goyer wrote Man of Steel before they asked Snyder to direct it 2) Superman was never written as Jesus character. He was written to be SEEN as a Jesus character by the people in the movie universe. His characterization was the same it has always has been.
@@Pikashades To point 1: I don't care. To point 2: No... no his characterization was not the same as it's always been. Because he is not written as Clark Kent. Because the most important part of Superman is the MAN. Clark Kent's humanity, his kindness and his humility. Someone who beliefs in people and inspires them to be better. Someone who has all that power but would see helping a little girl get her cat from a tree just as worth of his time because it's right. Because it's decent. And above all, it's kind. Man of Steel and BvS Clark is mopey, cold, distant and treats helping people as a chor. I wouldn't have a problem that people in the movie percieve him as a godly Jseus figure if the movies wouldn't portray Clark himself as so distant from humanity. If you want a good written Clark, and subsequently Superman, then i would say, watch The Animated Superman series, the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited Series, the Superman v.s. the Elite movie or My Adventures with Superman Series.
@@shadowhunter0815 1. Ok, cultist. 2. Now you're mixing the pre-Crisis Superman with the post-Crisis Superman. As someone who has been bullied in my youth, you sound like a bully asking their victim why they are sad about being bullied. I have reviewed both Superman vs the Elite and My Adventures With Superman on my channel, where I draw attention to the flaws both adaptations had that people like you keep ignoring. Granted, the former was some what improved by having Joe Kelly back in writing it, but the latter sacrificed Superman's supporting cast and rogue's gallerly in quality to make Superman look better, which so unintentionally made Superman look worse.
@@Pikashades 1: Calling me a cultist and accusing me of being a bully? That's the best you got? No offence but you have to be a bit more creative than that. 2: Pre Crisis Superman didn't even know he was an alian until he was 18, contributing to his ubbringing. As for Man of Steel: So he "learned" human values not from his adopted parents who raised him, but from a talk with an AI that laid out his destiny? Yeah, still butchering the Kents and consequently Clarks ubbringing. Not to mention that he is still portrayed as distant to humans. I mean, you can like it it, that is your thing, but i still think that Jonathan and Clark were poorly written and i see nothing supermanly in this version of Superman. Heck, even Injustice Superman is more Superman, because it was exactly his human side, the love for Lois, that Joker attacked and the loss of Clarks humanity that made the tragedy.
@@shadowhunter0815 1. If you're blaiming JUST Snyder for the sake of it, the you're no different from the cultists. Also, you didn't even try to prove me wrong on the accusation. And I didn't call you a bully, I compared you to one. 2. Pre-Crisis Superman was not Clark Kent as a person. He was Superman with Clark Kent as his disguise. WFT kind of Snyder cultist logic is that supposed to be!?!? No, Clark didn't feel like he belonged because he didn't understand why he was different. After learning why he is different from the AI Jor-El, he managed to get over the issues he had and returned home to Ma Kent as a happier man ready to move on in his life. Also WTF is your problem in wanting Clark to reveal his nature by publically using his powers in front of witnesses so he could be exposed and taken away from his parents by the people like the SCP Foundation, GOC or the Serpent's Hand? It's like you don't want him to become Superman, but instead to become the Flashpoint Superman. Don't have kids. If that is how you still see Pa Kent, then you SOUND like you would be an abusive parent who values your own safety over the safety of your child. Because Injustice Superman was Superman who gave up on being Clark Kent. That is why you probably see him as more Superman than Clark Kent. The real Superman, like the on from the Vs the Elite movie would have plead the Joker's case to place him into the Death Row and get the capital punishment instead of doing it himself.

This disrespect didn’t start from the SnyderVerse, it's been going on since the DCAMU. They always make Superman a dumbass, give all the cool moments to Batman, and then question why people don't like Superman much. Let me give you some examples. In Batman/Superman: Public Enemies comic, there was a scene where Future Superman singlehandedly destroyed both current Superman and Batman. That entire scene is cut from the movie. In Batman/Superman Apocalypse comic, Superman solos Darkseid in their final fight. That is changed in the movie now where Darkseid is beating up Superman. In JL Doom, they make the whole Justice League into morons just to glaze Batman, talking about some _"We wouldn't do that to you"_ _"Then you're damn fools"_ when in the comic, the conversation doesn’t go like that at all.
Public Enemies -like many comic book adaptations like Hush and Under the Red Hood- cut out many events to make it streamlined and palatable for it's runtime.
I do wonder why is it that people gravitate more towards visceral or violent characters. I'm guessing it's because people like edgy things, but even then I feel that's a blanket statement and it doesn't apply to everyone.

Everybody loves Batman cuz he’s dark, depressed and lonely plus he’s rich. Most people nowadays only care about money, and appearing superior and dark and powerful. 6:08 evil superman is a concept that can never truly stands. Because you need more need more layers to flesh out said scenario but at the cost of making said evil superman NOT superman. Omniman and Homelander are evil "superman" but that's merely an oversimplification of these 2 characters. Omniman is soldier/ conqueror of an space authoritarian empire who is torn between his duty as soldier and father. Homelander is both an parody of American propanagda and a cautionary tale on the whole nature vs nurture debate and how some people (in this case homelander) when placed in harsh situations they break like cheap flimsy glass. The God of War games are a prime example of having a very powerful main character facing off against other antagonists within the same power level but still having to struggle internally and externally throughout the game WHILE having a good narrative story. In Superman case it's literally easy with the rogues gallery he has, just make him fight other powerful foes or take him to space! When sups tried to stand up for them The assholes were like "you can't be at two places at once, you gotta go back to your country some day" knowing he can't do a damn thing once he leaves. Shows that Sups has to face other forces that aren't aliens or monsters, it's humans bringing harm to themselves. You can write so many superman stories that challenges his moral. Have him explore his kryptonian heritage Have him teach supergirl what it means to be humans. Have him uses his intellect instead of his brute strength. Crazy how an anime Superman is able to produce something that is claimed to be impossible
The biggest reason why "Superman is overpowered" doesn't work is because Superman does not start off as overpowered. He always starts off at a reasonable level of strength. In many cases, he could barely stop a falling plane, doesn't move at lightspeed, and he doesn't start off with heat vision. As u said relativity doesn't mean good movie it isn't a negative either it's just a thing that exists. Good movie makes good movie
@@massmurdertron51 Again, since english isn't your first language, let me reiterate. Relatability is absolutely a dumb reason to like a character and leads to dumb, narcissistic, close mindedness that dumb, narcissistic, close minded individuals unironically saying they don't think any character who doesn't look like them is automatically bad. Good characters must do at least one of four things right: being dimensional, fascinating, compelling, and believable. Many hit 2 or 3 of those marks, and the rare few can hit all 4 with flying colors. The positive things you mentioned in your defense of relatability are not actually within its domain and are actually properly attributed to those four other guiding stars I mentioned, hence why so often writers are so surprised that in their attempt to make characters more 'relatable' they miss the mark entirely and get so much criticism for it and never realize they were chasing the wrong thing. See Joe Quesadilla and J Michael Kielbasa and their attempt to make Spider-Man 'more relatable' in One More Day and see the whole remade 'for modern audiences' trend for proof.
Fax shazam is a normal human kid but can become more powerful than a god with a single word give him a strong sense of responsibility like Spider-Man and make him naive due to age but highly intelligent like he can form a complex spell or build an artifact to best a villain but has trouble talking to girls etc. He could have the appeal of Superman but for a teenage audience but don't make him dumb or weak compared to other league members he is magic superman for a reason dude should be a beast.
You mean the people who stand for Deciet, Supression, and The Tyranical Way is against the Symbol of Truth Justice and The American Way? The people running dc state that they relate more to the villians.
Most fans hate and disrespect Superman too, calling him a "Gary Stu", "overpowered" and believing the preposterous notion that mortal Batman can beat him in a fight.
It breaks my heart to learn that in the post-5G Future State age of comics, they were planning to make Jon the main Superman the main Superman, which is fine. And then they were going to make Superman, Clark, slowly turn into a despot. They were going to make Injustice Superman canon. At this point, Grant Morrison, writer of All Star Superman, had walked away from comics for a bit. When they heard this, Grant was like "No", and wrote for Superman to prevent this from happening. Which only makes me worried that there won't always be Grant Morrisons or Joshua Williamsons to come in and save Superman. Also, Zack Snyder unironically saying something exactly like Manchester Black is amazing. And having Superman have the perfect response to clap back is even more so. I feel vindicated about how I've always felt about the Snyderverse.
When you talk about the idea of a Superman game, I ALWAYS felt it would be best to put him somewhere NOT on Earth. I'd say he should be on Warworld. Since there's no yellow sun so he's got an explanation for weakness and it's alien technology, you'd have the perfect reason for "regular" enemies hurting him.
No you gotta put him on earth. You gotta put him on metropolis. You just can’t have him fight a bunch of mobs all the time. You need to capture what Superman does normally in gameplay form. What does Batman normally do? He beats up criminals. What does Superman do? He saves people from disasters natural and man made. You can have quick time events where Superman has to save a plane from falling. You also can make it a struggle by having him fail the mission if he exerted too much pressure on the plane and breaking the plane or not enough pressure and watching the plane plummet to the ground. Have actual consequences for failing missions and in game dynamic events. Have a reputation meter that basically punishes you for doing bad things and rewards you for doing good things. The game needs to capture the fantasy and responsibility of being Superman. It should require you to use your powers in creative ways not just have you fight mobs all the time. Obviously the most important thing besides gameplay is story.
Make it a full-on space exploration game a la No Man's Sky (but more mission and story-based instesd of Survival-Crafting) where Superman visits different worlds helping all sorts of races along the way (can even include some cool suprises like Planet Tamaran) with the final villain being someone like Brainiac or General Zod or perhaps some never before seen Eldritch-like horror in the DC universe. Then, in the post-game, have him return to Earth where he gets special missions that make him cross paths with members of the League.
Everyone remembers Superman having his iconic catchphrase of "Truth, Justice, and the American Way" Most of the individuals who make comics and related media, arent big fans of that...which is why as soon as they were running things, he never said that phrase again.
but like how would you deal with the Superman OP situation in a game format tho, bc if you depowering him Superman fanboys will cry but if you give him accurate strength(including his new Susanoo ability) it's a game shorter than I last in bed. So I'd really like to know

I get so damn annoyed when people say that Superman is boring. We're so used to deconstructions and satire of super heroes that people are convinced that someone with Superman's level of godlike power would ALWAYS turn out as a Homelander or Omni-Man Completely ignoring how the whole point of Superman is that he is a genuinely good person who just wants ti help people. For no other reason except its the right thing to do. His power comes with a LOT of perks, but he also sees it as a great responsibility. To help when noone else can. And its not like in the Snyder films where he's a near emotionless symbol/Jesus figure. Superman is the EXACT OPPOSITE. He inspires and tries to hold himself and others to a higher standard, but he is an absolutely *chill dude* at the end of the day. Really anyone who says that Superman is *boring* is either lying or has never experienced the character as he should be.
This is a great video. Yeah DC and WB have been dragging him on the mud for awhile now But something that annoys me about the argument that a Superman game can't be made is the same reason people always give, because he is "To OP" to star his own adventure. The people that say that don't have creativity or don't see how literally the world of gaming is filled with stories where you play with godlike and OP beings like God Of War, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Prototype, Infamous, Asura's Wrath, literally every single DBZ game ever Why is so hard to translate Superman to a gaming world if technically we have already seen the concept of a game were you play with a powerful character done alot decently by this point?
Back in the early 2010s, Superman was constantly disrespected. Media like Injustice, DCEU/Man Of Steel, and New 52 all reinforced the general audience's notion that Superman is a dull, lame, bland boy scout, which is FAR from the truth. However, it is understandable why people would think that given how DC media treated the character. I really believe we are currently living in an era of a *Superman Renaissance in media* , now more than ever, I believe audiences are beginning to slowly fall in love with the character once again as we are finally being treated Superman content that genuinely understands what makes Superman such an essential character in today's culture. For example, the animated Superman show "My Adventures With Superman", that came out last year is such a breath of fresh air and a wonderful take on Superman/Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen (my favourite take on Jimmy, in fact). The romance between Lois and Clark is TOO ADORABLE (played amazingly by Jack Quaid and Alice Lee) and wholesome while maintaining an interesting overarching story that feels fresh and unique. The show may not be perfect; some of the villains, like General Lane, Parasite, Dr. Ivo and Mr Myxzptlk, are great; however, others, like Livewire, Silver Banshee, Deathstroke, etc., are kind of boring and a bit of a downgrade from their comic counterparts, plus some of their designs are bland. But you know what, regardless of those criticisms, it just makes me so happy to see Superman get the respect he deserves again. Not just MAWS, but media like *Superman & Lois* , the current *Joshua Willaimson comic run of Superman* and of course *James Gunn's upcoming Superman: Legacy* which so far sounds amazing and sounds like he truly understands the character, stating this is a movie about *"the power of compassion in a cynical world"* which is everything Ive ever wanted to see in a Superman movie. Superman is a phenomenal character to me and my favourite superhero. One of the reasons why Superman works is because everything he stands for will always be timeless and doesn't need to be modernised to fit today's ideals or values; we need to learn to open ourselves up to his ideals and values, and rather than being embarrassed by Superman, we should open ourselves up to him. Fortunately, the character finally has a bright future ahead of him.
Acting like boy scout is an insult when using boy scout as an insult was developed by worthless hippies who couldn't and didn't accomplish anything in their lives.
I hate the “Superman is too powerful” argument, because like, Dragon Ball games exist. I’m not going to say Goku and Superman are the same characters, (they have more differences than similarities) but imagine a game like DBZ Kakarot but for Superman. That would be hype!
Superman and Goku AREN'T the same😂 Goku faces challenges and he has to GET stronger with each one. Superman from the get-go just from Existing with a yellow sun can blow away Universes. They ARE NOT the same. One works hard to get stronger the other is born strong.
@@tinytitan8807yeah no. Goku ends up fighting stronger opponents because he’s a fucking idiot who gives all his villains senzu’s instead of just killing them.
I think the damage injustice did to superman come from the fact that people think the pitch of the story is what would happened if Lois was killed. When the pitch is what would happen if Superman became an evil dictator.
I honestly hate how Injustice has convinced people that Superman's some kinda emotional ticking time bomb ready to explode the moment Lois bites dust. Seriously, you'd think people would realize that there's way more reasons for Superman to be a hero besides Lois.
I feel like so many people (both general audience and creators) have forgotten that a good character doesn't have to be so morally complex, filled with multiple layers or ambitious to be a good character. I mean look at Sonic from around the late 2000s (Secret Rings, Unleashed and Black Knight), I classify that as the best written version of the Blue Blur. Yeah he still has that traditional attitude, but when you really analyze certain scenes and his interactions with the likes of Sharha, Chip etc, he provides sense of wisdom. That's a 3 dimensional character to me! The reason why I still believe DCAU Superman is one of the best incarnations of the Man of Steel was because he had moments where he was challenged on his ideals and thinking, but at his core, he still remained the same paragon of peace. I haven't played it, but after seeing Suicide Squad Kill Justice League, it really feels like Warner and DC just has no respect for their heroes anymore.
Superman is my favorite superhero. I'm sick of people dismissing him as boring. When nowadays, he's the kind of hero we deserve. And I'm sick of Superman turning into an evil dictator that rules the world after losing Lois Lane and his unborn child. They do not need to make him edgy and brooding to be relevant with the times. Also another thing that annoys me, is that people over hype Batman. Seriously, all we ever see from DC is *Batman.* He's cool, but God. There's way too much of him. So much, that he overshadows the other superheroes. Especially ones that don't have many opportunities to shine. But yeah, you pretty much sumed up my thoughts and understanding of Superman. He deserves more love and attention. We've got enough Batman.
You can blame Christopher Nolan for that as he was the one who convinced WB to hire him. And knowing Nolan, he must have seen something that WB and you Snyder cultists refused to see.

Hopefully the new Superman film doesn’t pull a TASM2 and have great casting, trailers, CGI, etc. but ultimately being badly written due to studio interference
The three characters that take the most away from the modern appeal of Superman are Batman, Captain America, & Goku. DC has pretty much chosen Batman as their champion b/c of his dominance in almost every medium (TV, movies, video games, graphic novels, etc...). Cap has become the ultimate boy scout in the eyes of the general public due to the MCU. And while Dragon Ball started out as the Japanese version of Journey to the West, DBZ pretty much retconned the franchise to be Akira Toriyama's own Superman story. But future adaptations could possibly combine the best aspects of all three and rejuvenate Supes' popularity again.

We all know the super hero will most likely win against the villain. The best comics dive in to the way the superhero deals with the problem in their own moral and ethical way
The real Superman woulda stopped Brainiac SO Brainiac wouldnt get close to Metropolis. The real Superman would be the one asking the League for help to stop Brainiac as soon as he came to Earth. Or he woulda handled Braniac himself.
I swear people are willingly being stupid. The obvious Superman argument is that he is overpowered and boring. This is TRUE. Then the argument that what makes him good is because he has superpowers but doesn't use it for evil. But he is in a world with Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern, Shazam, Dr Fate, Blue Beetle, Martian manhunter, Hawkman, Aquaman all these people who have powers but don't use it for evil. He is also paired up with trash villians. His arch nemesis is lex Luthor who is a regular dude. The big bads hardly show up in his comics like Zod, Darkseid, Doomsday.

@@johnnyjacksted6528 Dreams can come true, fantasies cannot. And Superman's dream ended up becoming true later in the comics during PJK's Action Comics run when Manchester Black became a good guy who followed Superman to War World as a part of his Authority team. It's relevant in talking about things that CAN come true and work, contrast to things that cannot become true without forcing them with outside influence. Another example could be the For The Man Who Has Everything story, where Superman was living in a fantasy world created by the Black Mercy and had to, to quote Snyder, WAKE THE FUCK UP. Zack Snyder went with the Dream path in telling his 3/5 Superman story with David Goyer and Chris Terrio working with him in a realistic way with what they had started to work with. On the other end, we have people who use the Fantasy path in wanting Superman to be ONE WAY and not any other way, aka forcing Superman like how Manchester Black wanted Superman to be like them or die to get out of their way. Snyder was never like Manchester Black, the people who hate him are. The only mistake he made was say "Dream world" instead of "Fantasy World."
@@Pikashades Superhero stories are fictions which mean they are fantasies. If he couldn’t adapt fantasies to be engaging to the audience by blaming them for living in a dream world, then he failed as a director.
@@nont18411 What you're so saying is that Snyder was never a dictator. Here's however how I see the distinction: Dreams can come true if you're able to balance the values that you live with the reality that you live in. It's what I see as the Truth and Ideals concept in writing character arcs for fictional character. If you have a dream and can work towards making it come true, then you have managed to do by balancing those two. BUT, if you cannot do that and end up resorting to force the world into changing instead to match up with your values, LIKE THE ELITE DID, then what you have is a fantasy, not a dream. And with a fantasy, you need to eventually "WAKE THE FUCK UP" from it. Take For the Man who has Everything as an example, that story had Superman living in a fantasy world where he got to grow up on Krypton and had a family. But because it was fantasy built on a what-if scenario, he eventually had to choose to WAKE UP.

Because someone at WB/DC see's them as their "Guardians of the Galaxy" but with an edgy twist because they're all edgy, quirky villains instead of quirky heroes. WB/DC have shown consistently that they have no clue how to handle their properties.
Whenever they're on to something good, it get's plagued with interference from the higher ups, yet the same higher ups consistently green light the absolute worst things they possibly could. It's why I have very little hope in James Gunn's attempt at a DCEU, I just don't see how he breaks the mold that has been in place for nearly 2 decades now

Here's to hoping Gunn's film kickstarts it.
I used to be one of the “Superman is boring, he’s not a good character in the modern world” then I read Superman comics…dude fucking owns!
Same and I really hope that Superman by James gunn will be the best Superman film ever

2 things:
1)Christopher Nolan and David Goyer wrote Man of Steel before they asked Snyder to direct it
2) Superman was never written as Jesus character. He was written to be SEEN as a Jesus character by the people in the movie universe. His characterization was the same it has always has been.
@@Pikashades
To point 1: I don't care.

I have reviewed both Superman vs the Elite and My Adventures With Superman on my channel, where I draw attention to the flaws both adaptations had that people like you keep ignoring. @@Pikashades
1: Calling me a cultist and accusing me of being a bully?

You know DC treats the character bad when most people care about Homelander and Omni-Man in modern days
I do wonder why is it that people gravitate more towards visceral or violent characters.
I'm guessing it's because people like edgy things, but even then I feel that's a blanket statement and it doesn't apply to everyone.
@@MaigenMaylightNot so much a blanket standby as it is an accurate one. It’s very true. A lot of people complain about loneliness yet refuse to admit that they are the reason why they’re lonely. A lot of people want to seem dark, introverted and mysterious as they feel this makes them stand out more and appear more attractive and interesting. Everybody loves Batman cuz he’s dark, depressed and lonely plus he’s rich. Most people nowadays only care about money, and appearing superior and dark and powerful. Thats why characters like Omni-Man and Homelander are so popular, that and those shows do a good job of showcasing those characters.
But in reality, Superman is the classic superhero. He’s the meaning of what it means to be someone who can do anything but CHOOSES to do right. Making fun of this trope, is what shows like The Boys and Invincible do very well. But Superman is the personification of love, something that most recent films haven’t shown 100%.

In Superman case it's literally easy with the rogues gallery he has, just make him fight other powerful foes or take him to space!

I liked the Alex ross story where he goes to a different country to try to help the 3rd world country by giving them supplies but the assholes of that country that take advantage of their own citizens was willing to take it from them.
Have him explore his kryptonian heritage
Have him teach supergirl what it means to be humans.
People call "My Adventures with Superman" Supes weak, but he's usually at that level of power in year 1.

Most fans hate and disrespect Superman too, calling him a "Gary Stu", "overpowered" and believing the preposterous notion that mortal Batman can beat him in a fight.
I can't tell if this is a troll or a real comment. Well done😂
That ending was gas man you cooked so hard with this video
I'm pretty sure that would actually kill DC Comics.
@@concept5631 Exactly.
@@Just_Some_Guy_with_a_Mustache I know for certain that Superman will far outlast DC Comics.
It's kinda funny because with everyone being so doubtful of Superman's good we've all kinda become the Lex Luthor as an audience.
Everyone remembers Superman having his iconic catchphrase of "Truth, Justice, and the American Way"
Most of the individuals who make comics and related media, arent big fans of that...which is why as soon as they were running things, he never said that phrase again.
that catchphrase is outdated and the new one is better

I get so damn annoyed when people say that Superman is boring. We're so used to deconstructions and satire of super heroes that people are convinced that someone with Superman's level of godlike power would ALWAYS turn out as a Homelander or Omni-Man
Completely ignoring how the whole point of Superman is that he is a genuinely good person who just wants ti help people.
Same it pisses me off to, when someone says that. They just love to hate
I absolutely hate how Injustice did Superman, he would've probably killed Joker, yes. But he wouldn't had become a dictator
The title is literally what every superman unanimously feels.
This is a great video. Yeah DC and WB have been dragging him on the mud for awhile now
But something that annoys me about the argument that a Superman game can't be made is the same reason people always give, because he is "To OP" to star his own adventure. The people that say that don't have creativity or don't see how literally the world of gaming is filled with stories where you play with godlike and OP beings like God Of War, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Prototype, Infamous, Asura's Wrath, literally every single DBZ game ever
Why is so hard to translate Superman to a gaming world if technically we have already seen the concept of a game were you play with a powerful character done alot decently by this point?
Yall ever notice how people complain about superman being too OP then turn around and hype up how powerful their favorite shonen protagonist is?
Or Batman even
The sheer hypocrisy & lack of self-awareness hurts my brain...

New 52 Superman was pretty good when written by Morrison and Pak.

I hate the “Superman is too powerful” argument, because like, Dragon Ball games exist. I’m not going to say Goku and Superman are the same characters, (they have more differences than similarities) but imagine a game like DBZ Kakarot but for Superman. That would be hype!
In the db games the other characters are usually as powerful or more powerful then goku
Superman and Goku AREN'T the same😂 Goku faces challenges and he has to GET stronger with each one.

I'm sick of DC mistreating the GREATEST Superhero of them all! They almost reduce him to a jobber!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought BVS lex luthor was basically the riddler masquerading as luthor. Thanks for that, for real.
Ending with a battered, bruised, near defeated Superman giving a rousing speech, as if he was talkin to DC directly, was perfection.

Captain america has appeal ?

Here's however how I see the distinction:
Dreams can come true if you're able to balance the values that you live with the reality that you live in.
“Dreams save us. Dreams lift us up and transform us. And on my soul, I swear... until my dream of a world where dignity, honor and justice becomes the reality we all share, I'll never stop fighting. Ever."
--Superman (What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?)
