  • I keep hearing a lot of people saying driving manual in traffic jam gives you leg pain. Of course it is not cool driving in jam but is worse in manual? Actually not really. This is how I drive on traffic jam. I can even inching forward for 2 minutes without pressing the clutch at all. I do see other people using this method to drive manual in traffic jam, so this is not "my method" but it is a way. Do share how you drive in traffic jam and don't forget to leave a like.

Good driving tips when driving in the traffic jam, thank you very much and it is very helpful to me. By the way, mine is persona cvt so when i was in a traffic jam, i just release the brake and the car inches forward itself (press a little bit of the throttle to move faster) and press the brake again for a complete stop (I just left the gear knob in D position). If the stop period is too long, i shift it into N and pull the handbrake to rest my foot. = )

you wouldn't survive keeping this much free space in Moscow drivers here absolutely love changing lanes so everyone would try merge into your lane just to be 1 car length ahead so you always have to keep not enough space for another car to merge a slow you down hence percentage of cars with automatic transmission is 20% higher than the rest of the country 75 vs 55 and almost 100% of brand new cars sold in this city but people still learn to drive manual as it's more respectable to be able to do this

I used to get cramps mid traffic jam because I put the car in D and have to keep pressing the brake. But now I just leave ample room in front (1.5 car gap or more) and let the car move slowly which I do not need to use brake and throttle that much.
Inching your car or pressing the brake while moving at very low speed can actually cause damage to the transmission since it is similar to using brake and throttle at the same time.

for me, everytime facing traffic jamm, i always keep a distance about a car in front so that i can creep along the jamm without halfly depressing the clutch and playing with the throttle and brakes.. during creeping ,always use 1st or 2nd gear....

When I reconsider that auto car also holding something with your foot, it's not really that bad

Clutch gets stiffer with time. Does proton use cable or hydraulic?

Do you know the cost to replace clutch for your persona?

Sorry I don't, cause the clutch is still healthy.

@@themanualdriver2 You should survey so that your viewers can know the difference between auto and manual maintenance, last I check for saga blm manual is around RM500 some even charge more. Recon auto gear box is around RM2k ++ with the installation but it can last average 150000-300000km depends on owner how he take care...clutch u need to change around 40k-100k depends on user...so if average user who don't know how to rev match etc won't last longer can end up higher maintenance than auto...I know people who never change the manual gear oil lol...not to mention if u don't double clutch your gear synchronizer will wear out faster that will cause u gear box overhaul

Newer cars seem to be easier
I have 89 accord hatch and you can't hang in first gear long at all

Agree that newer car is easier... The clutch is lighter as well...as it is hydraulic aided

I am in Bangkok. The traffic is a bit more nuts....I am afraid I am guilty of laying on clutch a bit more. I mean really nuts.

If you keep telling yourself to rest the leg at empty space... Slowly you can change that bad habit... 😉
