"You won't get better if you try to keep up with the traffic in front" is probably the best advice I got from this video. Heck, it's not even for driving only, I'm pretty sure that's advice that applies to anything in life. But you made me realize how many mistakes I've been making because I panic when I see the cars in front of me act much more proficient than me... but of course that will happen, I'm still learning and they are not. It's so obvious, but it's so easy to fall for that trap. Thank you.
Many people do fall into the trap. Is the same for most things in life, example if you try to learn tennis by serving as fast as a professional you won't make a successful serve and be able to continue a rally to get practice hitting the ball. I was concerned when I saw a tennis teacher teaching a young boy how to play on Saturday, the teacher kept firing balls at him quickly and the poor kid had no chance to return any of them, in fact I saw him have to duck for 1 to avoid being hit in the head. The kid would have learnt more if the teacher would have sent him balls at a speed that he could successfully return them at. That way the boy would have had lots of practice making racquet to ball contact building up his skill of how to hit the ball.
For me, it actually helped me learn. I was trying to figure out how people were so fast. So I watched these videos, and I've almost fully mastered rev matching upshift and downshift. Also the fastest take off is getting easier for me: gas down to 1.5k rev and then bite point, more gas, clutch further up, more gas until you can let go and floor it for a second. It's not that hard really once you got the hang of it. I drive both a diesel and a petrol: Yes diesel is easier, but a modern petrol with a turbo is almost as good at low revs as a diesel, so the difference is almost negligible
There’s more people in the US that don’t even know what a manual is than there are people that can drive them. You get some real assholes I’ll tell you.
You literally are the best. Learning how to drive with my dad as an ‘instructor’ is a nightmare. You would think he yells for a living. I learned more from watching your videos than I did from being in the car. Thank you
Keeping the toe pointed is important. On a vehicle with a heavy spring or a tough friction point I drag my heel against the carpet as I slide my foot back, while keeping my tow pointed.. It adds enough friction to give better control. I don't do this all the time it will wear out the carpet lol .but it helps in certain situations especially when driving something new to me.
Exactly one of the important things I learnt in this video.... I always try to keep up and end up stalling and panicking... from now am just gonna take my time and get my bite ☺️. Pressure off
@@geraldineorji5664 yeah that’s the way to do it. you just have to do your best to be patient and not get flustered. i’ve mastered starting from a stop and it took me about a month. the only issue i have now is making 1st to 2nd smooth lol
I was never told to keep my heel up, didn't understand other people didn't struggle in traffic as I did. Finally found out and had to teach myself to use the clutch all over again. Thank you for sharing, really important stuff
I got my license two years back and I'm still anxious to drive in traffic. Ugh driving on uphill is a nightmare. last week my car stalled twice on uphill and engine stopped and rolled back but somehow I managed to move 😭 I almost cried lol, luckily there was no car behind. Your tutorial always helps me and this one is much needed. Thank you 🤧♥️ hopefully I'll overcome the anxiety and drive well. I don't wanna depend on my brother and dad for transportation 😣
It's nice to hear the videos help you. I'm sure you can drive. If you can drive without traffic you can driver in traffic. Try to ignore the pressure and accept being a bit slower than others if you think it will help you.
I have been driving and learning in traffic only stalled occasionly. I was a wreck when I first stalled but now I almost stay calm. Its literally experience. Thats the important thing when stalling to put handbrake on select neutral, turn back on select 1st get bite dont worry about traffic around you or other drivers concentrate on being safe, so what if the car in front speeds off? These videos have helped me massively like other videos. We have lots of hills around us with tight bends so I have no choice to creep forward, go slow, stop etc. You get used to it. It does help as when you come across them elsewhere you are more used to it. I think its important to give more revs than flat so stalling is less likely and not to get close to car in front. I found its hard to juggle feet if not using handbrake in traffic uphill. I have learnt to slow gradually and look further in front so you sort of roll forward barely using revs and many traffic situations sort themselves and you keep moving but obviously you sometimes have to stop. Its not a bad thing to go slower as the traffic may move and sort itself out without having to stop 👍 i stalled at roundabouts but obviously I wasnt giving it enough revs, but I was learning to look at traffic on roundabout (only a local small one) and was concentrating on other aspects, its hard to get everything into your head at once, it takes time, but it all comes together eventually
@@pussyyyy fyi I'm from Malaysia.. the manual car I got to drive in my driving school and the manual car I am using now which is my dad's are not same.. my father's car is very old model, I have to release the clutch high to make the car move. So I went through some difficulties in balancing between clutch and gas particularly when driving on uphills :)
I've been driving a manual for almost a week now and wouldn't have been able to do it without your videos. I've noticed after a few days of driving when there's no car behind me on a hill I do the handbrake starts perfectly smoothly. The moment there's a car behind me I end up panicking with the acceleration out of fear of rolling back and I either release the hand brake late or peel off too quick and get a jerky start or the car skids off. The advice of taking everything in your own time and not worrying about trying to keep up with traffic is great
I learnt how to drive in a automatic car but almost two years later I am wanting to learn manual so I’m watching this guys vids and he explains things as a professional would so very helpful.
Oh man! 16:47 - 17.03 ("Car is leaving, doesn't matter!")... phew! wish I had that amount of practice and calmness to be able to do this efficiently. Wonderful explanation guiding a newbie like us.
Hi Richard for the past 18 months I have been studying your video's I have found them a godsend and so informative. Every topic I studied and am very please to let you know with the help and advice from your good self I passed my driving test first time today with 3 minors at the age of 66. Many thanks Richard for you time and patience for making these brilliant video's.
I hope I’m not being too much out of line but… I’ve never seen anything hotter in my life! I love manual cars but uphills always have been such a fear for me, especially when someone is right behind me. Seeing this guy doing this so easily, calmly and collected… I just can’t. He’s bloody amazing!
I'm in southwestern Pennsylvania in the US. Lots of hills, mountains, valleys and rivers. Definitely a challenge of a manual. Thank you for this video.
Really try clutch up first. Listen for the bite point , then gas. Once you're at the bite point the car won't roll. And you still have a foot on your brake
These videos have been absolutely incredible!! I’ve been driving for 12+ years but always owned automatic cars, just bought my first manual car and it’s definitely been like learning for the first time all over again! You explain things so thoroughly and calmly and touch on so many points that many instructors would likely not even consider to be important in a driving lesson. Between these videos and practice I’ll be back on the road in no time!
I feel this! I’ve been driving for almost 8 years now and just got my first manual. My dad’s been trying to teach me how to drive it, feels like being a teenager all over again. But there’s so much nuance to a stick shift, and all those little details don’t come across when my dad says “Engage the clutch and put it in gear” These in depth videos are a huge help!
True modern cars are a breeze to drive. Sometimes when people are driving with me in my car they say you don’t need to rev the engine to move up in traffic and I’m just thinking yeah must be nice
Not in the busy traffic uphill, my dad drove manuals in 1950s and not much traffic at all so not much stopping, he got an cheap automatic although he developed Diabetes so had to and it was a breeze and it just creeped forward in traffic
I'm 18 and I just know that how to drive a car. It's only happens with Ur guide lines to drive a car fully safely and most importantly that understand a car that how it respond on our behaviour. It's only happened by seeing Ur videos. Most thank you. Make more videos to better experience in a car driving. From India ❤️
Recently brought myself a car and found myself struggling with remembering certain things to help me drive better and your videos have been so helpful. Guess the point is to just stop caring about what other drivers think if you are slower or stall, just take your time. Also the heel up has helped me so much, I never realised I drove with my heel down until now
Whenever I try to be as fast as the one in the front, I end up over-revving out of panic As soon as I relax, and do it in my rhythm (of course, not extremely slow so I don’t block the traffic) everything works out just fine This is especially about hill starting but also other situations in traffic
I was always afraid to drive and thinking what other drivers might say if I make a mistake..but after watching a few of ur videos I have gained alot of confidence and I'm starting to drive easily
I cant wait until i can stop stressing out about driving my new-to-me manual car watching these videos at 3am and be able to just hop in and cruise with no worrys.
Had a stressful time coming home today. First experience in traffic and going uphill at the same time. Watched your video on the basics yesterday, and I made it through just fine (thanks to the bite zone explanation in that video). Came here to make sure I used the correct techniques. I probably should have been in first gear while going, but second was okay. Probably put some more stress on my clutch then first would have. Anyway, thank you! You are the best teacher I have found on TH-cam! The way you explain why and how you do things is so easy to understand, which makes applying these skills so much easier. Thank you so much!
I've found your videos so helpful, thank you. I've had a V-shaped learning curve: I never really thought about anything when I started driving a manual, then I worried that I was destroying my clutch every time I touched it, and now I have a much better understanding of what I'm doing and why. I've found a lot of reassurance in your lessons.
This is such good advice- I’m in a hilly traffic ridden area and now hoping to learn manual. And it’s in the states so most vehicles are automatic and in traffic people are quite rude here. Not looking forward to that but super excited for the little manual car❤
Had a guy drive on the oncoming traffic cause he got frustrated that I stalled 3 times on a small hill, honestly it was then that i realized I really dont care and hes right when you get into the cycle of stalling you gotta just take a sec, calm down, and go slow. I’ve only been driving manual for like 2 weeks but i already feel pretty comfortable
I love that I have been driving for 2 years, but still watch these videos! I watched them all whilst I was learning and it helped me so much! I’ve recently switched from a 1.4 diesel to a 1.8 petrol, and the word “struggle” would be an understatement! I’ve been on the verge of tears because I can’t seem to get used to the car, but I’ve spent the past couple of days watching these videos and it’s given me much more confidence, and I can already see an improvement with my driving!
I've been driving for years and I find it a generally enjoyable experience but being in America I was never really taught how to drive a manual. I took a chance and just bought a new car, my first manual. I'm so happy to have you and this channel as a resource as I begin my journey of re-learning how to drive!
I am soon to be a first time learner, I need to get driving sooner rather than later and I have been putting it off due to high anxiety. You have shown me in your videos that I can take my time and don't need to stress about being on the road. It actually looks fun! Thanks for everything mate, I hope I find an instructor that is as caring about their clients as you are.
Thank you so much, learning in manual with an alcoholic that yells alot with no explanation ,have had a few lessons with a professional but can't afford anymore, your tutorial is gold for me, thank u Merry Christmas from Australia
As ever, another great video. Whenever I experience tricky situations on the road (only had my car for a few months) I always come to your channel and find a clear and helpful video which explains the best practises/approaches to successfully navigating the things I struggle with. Thanks a bunch!
I want to commend you for producing such an accessible video. This is loaded with all the tips and know-how that I wanted when I was a beginner. For example, the tip about letting the car coast if below 1st gear. Invariably we all figure it out but beginners don’t know if such a technique is appropriate. Well done!
I stalled 3 times in a row on the freeway in stop and go traffic going uphill. It was definitely because I was nervous and rushing. Wish I watched this video sooner.
I did the exact same but on a steep freeway off-ramp the first day I drove my WRX home. Literally stalled it 3 times then just burned the clutch and went lol. significantly better now
This is the video I needed. I lost my confidence on traffic stops and hill starts because of stop-start bunny hops. I’m looking forward to trying these methods without stop-start and getting more control of the car.
This is the only and best video for uphill driving in manual transmission car. I struggle almost everyday on road but with the help from this video, things will be easier. Straight and traffic less road never made skilled driver.
Between this incredible video and seeing some reassurance in the comments section that other people are going through the same anxiety I am, I can say that this is by far the most useful video I have come across for manual driving. Thanks so much.
I really appreciate this. The full reason why I have a hard time is because I keep me heel down and don't use my whole leg on the clutch. Thanks man, nice!!
I was really anxious about driving in uphill traffic. Thanks to you now ı feel more confident taking it slowly. I tell the people behind me ''Im gonna make you wait longer if ı panic and stall'' So ı just do it on my own pace
this video actually helps improve ur driving experiance. l actually got my licence by following these steps so guys pliz pay much attention to my man here as he is the best wen it comes to driving lessons
I just came across your vids about 3 days ago. Im 27 and have been driving a automatic since i was 16. Just learning manual a few months ago. And im in the process of buying a new car. And i want it to be a manual. So your vids have help tremendously even my dad was amazed today when i took a focus st for a test drive today and drove it way better then even i thought ibwas gonna do. So thanks a lot 🙏
Wow,wow, good and clear, understandable driving lessons. Keep it up. So happy to learn from you. Infact av not had a perfect instructor online like you 👏👏. God bless u. Concerned learner from a very beautiful country KENYA 🇰🇪
I’m genuinely so glad I found your videos. I’ve been driving manual for more than a couple months now and I mostly had to just teach myself and never had anyone explain this stuff to me!
Thank you for helping me learn driving thousands of miles away from you in India 😊....Yes it's true that watching videos will not make me a better driver, but loads of practice will....but at the same time watching such videos have been immensely helpful when I sit on the driver seat and apply the techniques I learnt from the videos. I only wish my trainer had 10% of your eagerness to teach, patience with the learners and general enthusiasm about sharing knowledge. In my case(and in most the cases), trainer is just there to sit besides you... explain the basic controls and you are literally expected to learn driving on your own! Trainer is there to apply brakes in case needed...and to get irritated with learner's mistakes! If you want to know about how to judge the left of your car...why exactly you push certain combination of pedals in certain conditions...how to safely manouver in traffic...the standard response is: You will learn with practice. Of course I will learn with practice! But I am a firm believer of getting your basics right... learning the safe and efficient techniques.. practicing those and making a habit, rather than figuring out the working of machine myself with 'practice'. In this regard, your videos have been immensely helpful! You are helping people become better drivers and the roads a safer place...THANK YOU!
Yeah the only reason I clicked on this video was too see if he would mention that. Not the easiest technique but if you can heel toe already it feels a lot more natural.
Been learning on and off since I was 17 and now I'm 34... it's about time I passed and stopped putting it off since I failed my first test a few years back. I failed my test by rolling back in traffic and the tester had to break for me...otherwise I'd have passed :'( But now *I* actually want to learn, not just because others say so... I'm trying my hardest to brush up and remember the basics... driving in traffic and stopping at junctions and roundabouts is hard without having to concentrate on 50 other things at the same time. I think the best thing you've mentioned so far is to take your time. Rushing just makes you more anxious and I hope I can learn from my past mistakes :D Thanks for the videos. I'm sure I'll be watching many more in the coming weeks!!!!
The key is to focus on one thing at a time. Generally that's where you can go and where you can wait. If you're still learning car control then it's best to be away from traffic where you can focus on the car.
I’ve been practicing driving a stick shift & I have a hard time with the clutch & gas but I found this video helpful, well I haven’t tested it out yet but when I practice again, I’ll definitely take your advice. I hope my next practice goes more smoothly & I don’t stall as much. My handbrake doesn’t work tho so I have a hard time going up a hill but I’ll find a way to make it work. Thank you tho, you explain things very nicely☺️
Yay I did it & I didnt stall!!! It was only my 3rd practice & I got a hang of it quick, all thanks to this video☺️ I'm so proud of myself & so happy, you just have to be patient & dont give up😁
In one month I progressed well for uphill start n stop traffic. Initially I only used handbrake method but now I release the clutch to bite point and then release foot brake and press the gas quickly....thanks a lot
Finally starting lessons next month and your videos are among the best out there Also if you grew a mustache you would look exactly like Freddie Mercury
I have been so worried about the proper techniques on how to drive a car with a manual transmission, and these videos of yours are really helped me out, thank you a bunch!!
I passed my test at the first time of trying this morning. I just wanted to pop by and say thanks for the videos and please keep them coming. The extra advice and explanations are always welcome.
Am watching your videos to get a better way to handle a manual.... am also doing my driving lessons wish I was learning with you Love your training.... have never driven a manual before
you are so funny and so helpful. the stall cycle 🤣 happened to me in my last driving lesson i stalled 3 times at a roundabout so you’re definitely right hahah
Hey, I wanted to stay I really appreciate these videos, it really gives me closure that the things I'm doing learning manual on my Miata is what I'm supposed to be doing, now I know the handbrake starts won't harm the car, had a situation on a really steep hill in a community that made me find out that my ebrake cable was too loose 😂 going to tighten that up and have a go at it again on public roads. Thank you again!
Uphill and clutch control is a nightmare for every driver sometimes, sometimes you can get it right, sometimes not. But you can learn from your mistakes and next time you'll get it right, the best thing is you don't go above your biting point and without a little bit of gas you'll definitely stall., thanks for this video
I can't thank enough I was watching the video when stuck at an uphill tried several times but after watching the video in the first time only I was able to get out
I already have my license, admittedly for a short time, but honestly this combination is indeed my biggest fear. Thanks for the vid Rich! Very helpful!
Thanks for the detail explanations in your videos . Your definitely in the top 3 best driving channels on TH-cam :)) hope your TH-cam channel keeps growing ✊✊ :)
I do find driving very relaxing, I like being in my own box where I can control the temperature and what I'm listening to. It's especially nice when the weather outside is really bad, cosy. Try to find something you enjoy about driving and focus on that. It's imperative you don't let others push you, it's all part of the challenge. Leave plenty of time for your journey so you are not rushing.
Today i was pulling out into traffic off a hill. I peeled out and squealed the tires really loud. Its actually really embarassing when you didnt mean to do it!! Then i watched this video at the dentist office and i think it has helped me to understand more of the mistakes i was making. Thank you! Hope im not ruining my car in the process of learning!😟
The craziest thing is I saw another video the other day where the guy was advocating heel down, and later in the video he was apologising about the fact that he wiggles his foot without realising it 😂😂😂. Don’t trust anyone else guys 😂👌🏽
I have learned driving at 19 on manual and unfortuantley i used just automatic since then, now im almost 27 and i moved to greece athens and i have rented a car today, they have just manual! (Athens is full of hills!!) I stole not just the 4th and 5th i stole 10 and even 20 times hills and not hills, here the drivers are crazy and non patient anyways! Gonna be back on the road now at night when itz clear to try your methods! I feel confident already! Thanks!
I hope the methods help. It's normal to forgetting something if you learn it and straight away don't use it. To keep the skill of driving a manual car long term, ideally you need to do it for at least two years.
Would definitely recommend this guy if you want to improve your driving-skills on a manual car. I passed my license a year ago and you know why? Because of watching this lad's videos! Nice video mate
Excellent video. Great learning experience. All those, supposedly wrong, things I used to survive traffic in Indian metropolis with bad roads and hills - they appear in your video, and then some more new things. Its a real pleasure to watch it.
Wish I would've known all this when I was a learner driver! I stalled 5 times on a steep hill because I panicked after the first stall, and my teacher didn't help me. Finally managed to drive off but it was a struggle 😅
I really enjoy watching your videos. I just got back into a manual car after 20 years of using automatic. I have a 2019 VW Jetta. It's nice to see most of my driving habits in a manual car are similar to yours with the odd thing I feel I need to practice more. For the most part it's been a smooth transition but hill assist has been a bit tricky for me. It wasn't in my last standard car of course so I wasn't used to it. I just need to keep practicing. Your videos have helped, though. Thanks!😀
14:56 Exactly one of the passing criteria for Singapore driving test, and always makes me nervous for missing out the bite point, so it is rarely being taught on road by my instructor. Instead he taught the clutch break technique, which is on 15:27, which I find it more convenient but can be quite tiring if drive long.
I very rarely give thumb up. Now, I should do it, and I have done it, because this is a complete video on this kind of topic. The video length is worth it, because it covers a few important things not explained in other videos such as coasting and different techniques on hill start in a real situation.
The electronic brake is amazing, I had it in my instructor's car this year and suddenly I had no issues on hills. But the car I drive now has a handbrake so I have to learn this again. I usually don't have issues starting with the foot brake on smaller hills though. I guess I just need to practice :) thanks for the tips!
With bigger hills get the clutch just bellow the bite point a couple of seconds before you are going to move off. Then fairly quickly switch from the foot brake to the gas and push it down a solid amount, whilst you’re pressing the gas, slowly bring the clutch up the the bite point and hold it there. You will move off slowly and pretty fast. Then when you have built up decent speed slowly take off the clutch. Hope this helps 😅
I got my license in 2004 and did it in a manual car but then I started driving only automatic cars. Now I want to buy a manual car and I find that this video will kinda remind me all the things I learned in driving school and may have forgotten.

The advice of taking everything in your own time and not worrying about trying to keep up with traffic is great
Just began my driving lessons in a very congested city with alot of traffic jam. This video has been of much help to me from Kampala Uganda 🇺🇬
I learnt how to drive in a automatic car but almost two years later I am wanting to learn manual so I’m watching this guys vids and he explains things as a professional would so very helpful.
How did you do, I managed to drive myself to work all week with just TH-cam
Wow, I'm happy to hear that and congratulations!
Well done !
I hope I’m not being too much out of line but… I’ve never seen anything hotter in my life! I love manual cars but uphills always have been such a fear for me, especially when someone is right behind me. Seeing this guy doing this so easily, calmly and collected… I just can’t. He’s bloody amazing!
Didn’t know handbreak start was a thing I don’t have an instructor just bought a car and learning to get home🤣🤣
I'm in southwestern Pennsylvania in the US. Lots of hills, mountains, valleys and rivers. Definitely a challenge of a manual. Thank you for this video.
As a new driver, your videos are a gem. Ohh that uphill is a nightmare. Stalled and rolled back lastweek.. Still gathering courage to drive again 😂
Really try clutch up first. Listen for the bite point , then gas. Once you're at the bite point the car won't roll. And you still have a foot on your brake
@@JohnJames. This was some great advice been doing well on the inclines, it does get better after all. Thanks much🙏
@@stuart_sibanda you're welcome, I'm learning myself, that was the best tip I've had so far , and clutch is your friend
That's great to hear, thank you for watching!
These modern manuals are really easy, my grandfather drove manual cars that made you work and had zero margin for errors. Modern cars are chill.
True. Modern traffic however. It's a trade off.
@@ConquerDriving
True 🤣
True modern cars are a breeze to drive. Sometimes when people are driving with me in my car they say you don’t need to rev the engine to move up in traffic and I’m just thinking yeah must be nice
specially the 3 seconds of auto braking
that would solve everything in hill
Not in the busy traffic uphill, my dad drove manuals in 1950s and not much traffic at all so not much stopping, he got an cheap automatic although he developed Diabetes so had to and it was a breeze and it just creeped forward in traffic
I'm 18 and I just know that how to drive a car.
It's only happens with Ur guide lines to drive a car fully safely and most importantly that understand a car that how it respond on our behaviour.
It's only happened by seeing Ur videos.
Most thank you.
Make more videos to better experience in a car driving.
From India ❤️
Thank you, I'm happy to hear that I'm helping you.
Recently brought myself a car and found myself struggling with remembering certain things to help me drive better and your videos have been so helpful. Guess the point is to just stop caring about what other drivers think if you are slower or stall, just take your time. Also the heel up has helped me so much, I never realised I drove with my heel down until now
Whenever I try to be as fast as the one in the front, I end up over-revving out of panic
As soon as I relax, and do it in my rhythm (of course, not extremely slow so I don’t block the traffic) everything works out just fine
This is especially about hill starting but also other situations in traffic
Go as slow as you need to and let the speed come with experience and confidence. Normally the quickest way to truly learn and gain confidence.
I learnt driving but still watch your videos to get the best out of myself. The best instructor in the whole world
Thank you ☺
I was always afraid to drive and thinking what other drivers might say if I make a mistake..but after watching a few of ur videos I have gained alot of confidence and I'm starting to drive easily
I cant wait until i can stop stressing out about driving my new-to-me manual car watching these videos at 3am and be able to just hop in and cruise with no worrys.
Practise will get you there. Keep it up.
Thank you so much!
okay i’m 2:36 seconds into this video and it already has explained more to me than any other video. god bless you
I've found your videos so helpful, thank you. I've had a V-shaped learning curve: I never really thought about anything when I started driving a manual, then I worried that I was destroying my clutch every time I touched it, and now I have a much better understanding of what I'm doing and why. I've found a lot of reassurance in your lessons.
Thank you for sharing this lesson it's very useful and clear I'm just stating leaning through your videoes those helped me lots thank you again.
Can’t believe I’ve been watching his videos since I started driving and he is based on my town of Colchester . Brilliant
Thanks!
This is a truly excellent video for me to refresh the manual driving skills, as I have not driven in manual cars for nearly 20 years.
Merry Christmas! I hope you can afford more professional lessons soon. Good luck.
As ever, another great video. Whenever I experience tricky situations on the road (only had my car for a few months) I always come to your channel and find a clear and helpful video which explains the best practises/approaches to successfully navigating the things I struggle with. Thanks a bunch!
I'm really pleased to hear that!
Literally stalled it 3 times then just burned the clutch and went lol. significantly better now
You always wear the coolest socks! Great advices, thank you!!
Mateee within a day, this vid helped so much. Didn't stall once on uphill traffic.
Richard is so far ahead of anyone else on youtube, these explanations are so good
whose watching this because you like his accent and his voice makes you fee calm
Very smart! You must be your own boss when you drive. A good driver is able to ignore the influence from others.
this video actually helps improve ur driving experiance. l actually got my licence by following these steps so guys pliz pay much attention to my man here as he is the best wen it comes to driving lessons
Best instructor i ever got on youtube👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
Best instructor to have ever come across
I'm very happy to hear I've helped. Thank you for watching and I wish you good luck on the road.
Thank you very much. I'm in Spain but I watched your videos and now I passed my test
Finally I see someone mention heel and toe on hill starts although with its difficulties
Yeah the only reason I clicked on this video was too see if he would mention that. Not the easiest technique but if you can heel toe already it feels a lot more natural.
Thrying to get my first car soon, that will also be a manual. Big help to know a few things before I start!
Been learning on and off since I was 17 and now I'm 34... it's about time I passed and stopped putting it off since I failed my first test a few years back. I failed my test by rolling back in traffic and the tester had to break for me...otherwise I'd have passed :'(
But now *I* actually want to learn, not just because others say so... I'm trying my hardest to brush up and remember the basics... driving in traffic and stopping at junctions and roundabouts is hard without having to concentrate on 50 other things at the same time. I think the best thing you've mentioned so far is to take your time. Rushing just makes you more anxious and I hope I can learn from my past mistakes :D
Thanks for the videos. I'm sure I'll be watching many more in the coming weeks!!!!
The key is to focus on one thing at a time. Generally that's where you can go and where you can wait. If you're still learning car control then it's best to be away from traffic where you can focus on the car.
Im watching from japan.. 🇯🇵
Cant stop watching your tutorial. This really made me a better driver. Just got my license 3 days ago
I'm happy to hear that, congratulations!
It was only my 3rd practice & I got a hang of it quick, all thanks to this video☺️ I'm so proud of myself & so happy, you just have to be patient & dont give up😁
Stuck in my first real traffic jam today due to an accident on the road. First chance to practice what I learnt from this video. Thank you 😊
stop
In one month I progressed well for uphill start n stop traffic. Initially I only used handbrake method but now I release the clutch to bite point and then release foot brake and press the gas quickly....thanks a lot
Driving gets easier as you get skill.
How long were you driving for when you decided to use the foot brake instead of the handbrake?
@@MarkCullinane-gl6kz about 2 to 3 months
@@firdousahmad2484 👍
that intentional stall is 🔥. amazing
Finally starting lessons next month and your videos are among the best out there
Also if you grew a mustache you would look exactly like Freddie Mercury
Thank you. Also, I'm a big fan of Queen.
@@ConquerDriving haha, i love this channel
Learning to drive in Sheffield and this video is an absolute life saver.
Congratulations on passing! I'm happy to hear the videos have helped.
This is amazing, everything my instructor hasn't told me 😅 thank you!
Uphill and clutch control is a nightmare for every driver sometimes, sometimes you can get it right, sometimes not. But you can learn from your mistakes and next time you'll get it right, the best thing is you don't go above your biting point and without a little bit of gas you'll definitely stall., thanks for this video
Can’t describe how much your videos helped me and surely a lot of other people. Keep up the good work man, take care.
Thank you!
I can't thank enough I was watching the video when stuck at an uphill tried several times but after watching the video in the first time only I was able to get out
I already have my license, admittedly for a short time, but honestly this combination is indeed my biggest fear. Thanks for the vid Rich! Very helpful!
Thank you, I hope it goes smoothly next time you're in traffic.
Thanks for teaching your driving skills to us Sir, just passed my practical driving test and can now drive my car anywhere here in the Philippines, 👍🏻
Thanks for the detail explanations in your videos . Your definitely in the top 3 best driving channels on TH-cam :)) hope your TH-cam channel keeps growing ✊✊ :)
Thank you!
Just got my first car as a manual transmission and I love it ur videos help learn how to drive a manual transmission
This guy such a great teacher lol 😂 helped me out so much bro!!!
I'm a very anxious (new) driver and seeing how relaxed and calm you are in these queues of traffic makes me feel much better
Well explained and demonstrated. Your way of explanation is cool.
Thank you.
So its recommended that we should put our kneel up for clutch what of brake and accelerator should the kneel be up or down
I literally just watched that video like 10 minutes ago😭😂😂💔
Can’t thank you enough for your videos. They are so helpful. You just have a way of explaining them so well! Thanks!!
Thank you ☺
Would definitely recommend this guy if you want to improve your driving-skills on a manual car. I passed my license a year ago and you know why? Because of watching this lad's videos! Nice video mate
Thank you for the kind comment. I hope you're enjoying your licence.
Excellent video. Great learning experience. All those, supposedly wrong, things I used to survive traffic in Indian metropolis with bad roads and hills - they appear in your video, and then some more new things.
Its a real pleasure to watch it.
Just got a 2011 6 speed Honda CR-Z as my first manual car and your videos have been doing me wonders. No choice but to subscribe. ❤
Nice little car that, I was considering one in about 2010.
Wish I would've known all this when I was a learner driver! I stalled 5 times on a steep hill because I panicked after the first stall, and my teacher didn't help me. Finally managed to drive off but it was a struggle 😅
I hope this video and a bit of practise sorts things out for you.
Thanks!😀
14:56
Exactly one of the passing criteria for Singapore driving test, and always makes me nervous for missing out the bite point, so it is rarely being taught on road by my instructor. Instead he taught the clutch break technique, which is on 15:27, which I find it more convenient but can be quite tiring if drive long.
15:27 will not work in all cars though.
@@ConquerDriving that's something new I've heard. Perhaps I've to endeavour to learn the proper technique .
I very rarely give thumb up. Now, I should do it, and I have done it, because this is a complete video on this kind of topic. The video length is worth it, because it covers a few important things not explained in other videos such as coasting and different techniques on hill start in a real situation.
Thank you!
Me: had enough of driving vids also me I want to watch u more. Thanks for the vids legend 😍🥰🥰
I think you are the only instructor who mentioned coasting both in gear and neutral in this kind of video. What a complete video.
Learned driving on eletronic handbrake too and now have to switch to normal handbrake lol gonna be fun
My father didn't teach me how to drive but luckily we had you an absolute legend keep up the good work
Lesson learned: don't go to Colchester to practise driving 😂
😂
I got my license in 2004 and did it in a manual car but then I started driving only automatic cars. Now I want to buy a manual car and I find that this video will kinda remind me all the things I learned in driving school and may have forgotten.
