not 100% sure, but I think that after the "failed" attempt, DoomFist goes to Numbani to get the Gauntlet personally, then defeating the OR:15 in the airport; Resulting in the creation of Orisa by a young girl named Efi. ("failed" because it could have been foreseen/been a set up so the Gauntlet was moved to the new museum being a more easier target hitting payload that was transporting the Gauntlet in the game)
@Jonathan Josue Hernandez Anaya Can you stop copy/pasting that same comment on every comment relating to a movie? An Overwatch movie, done right, would be absolutely amazing.

Jonathan Josue Hernandez Anaya An Overwatch animated movie is what we need, I agree that a live action one wouldn't be the correct direction to go, but an animated one would be awesome
how about several movies. could have one about the australian event. one about traser. ext. yes series sounds good too. but it might not get what it diserves.
Roy Otterdijk dude, the game is dying, if they wanted to make movies, then they should’ve stuck to the movie idea before making overwatch, there’s nowhere near enough content to make individual movies like that
One theory that I’ve always had is that Mercy’s resurrect has kind of strict limitations, and the results of her resurrection attempted after a person has been dead for a specific amount of time would yield horrific or just negative results. Which would kind of make sense as to why Mercy can only resurrect you within 10 seconds after you have died in-game. But I think that she broke her own rules on two occasions. The first being on Genji, though he wasn’t dead, he was probably injured beyond anything that she had ever attempted to heal before. Though he says he has a heart, and he obviously still has his mind/brain... it seems like most of his body is mostly cybernetic. He and Hanzo must have had the craziest sword fight of all time at their showdown, ending with Genji having several limbs completely detached. Genji ONLY survived because he IMMEDIATELY transported to the Overwatch facility, and was under her constant guard and care of Mercy, and she utilized every tool in her arsenal to rehabilitate him through cybernetics. The second time that she used her resurrect beyond the confines of its rules were with Gabriel Reyes/Reaper. The difference between Genji and Reaper were that Genji was injured beyond the point of repair, though he still was alive… While Gabriel was completely dead, and had been so for quite a while before she discovered his body. And though she had probably worked out the numbers and knew why it shouldn’t be done after death had been established beyond a certain point... this was Gabe. She knew and loved Gabe, and even after seeing the fiery ruins that was once the Swiss Headquarters of Overwatch and her home, she knew she didn’t have access to her lab and equipment, so she did the only thing she possibly could... She broke her own rule. We already know that due to the Soldier Trials, Gabriel’s DNA was already altered beyond that of regular men, which may have given Mercy hope that he would be responsive to her Rez Tech. BUT what she didn’t know, or at least know the FULL extent of, was the additional genetic alterations and mutations Gabe had undergone at the hands of Moira O'Deorain, who WE know “worked on” Gabriel after he recruited her in Blackwatch, which gave him abilities beyond the ones he received as part of the Soldier Trials along with Jack Morrison. And it was this “perfect storm” of the genetic modifications Gabriel had undergone for the Soldier Trials and Moira, combined with the post-humous Rez Tech Mercy attempted to use far outside of the recommended time window that turned Gabriel into Reaper. Again, I know a bit of this isn’t currently possible, as Michael Chu has retconned some it in interviews, but there’s nothing in the canonically established lore that doesn’t make this feasible. I think it would be a great arc for Mercy, and it kind of explains or gives a bit more context to Mercy and Reaper’s in-game interactions, and it could be applied contextually to why Mercy and Moira don’t see eye to eye.
is anyone in love with overwatch? no matter how "bad" the actual gameplay is or how its dead, the storyline is so amazing and interesting. i love how everything ties together and it feels like this stuff actually happened (or will). ive watched this video and other timeline videos multiple times and each time it reminds me of how much i love this game. it could just be my love for history (even though this isnt in the past, its explained as if it happened before) but this storyline is beautiful and shouldnt be forgotten when you say overwatch is a bad game.
YES OMG. THE ONLY REASON WHY I WAS EHH ON A MOVIE IS CAUSE IDK HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE COMPUTER ANIMATION. Usually when it becomes a movie or a show (a show would have more content therefore I want a show) the animation budget becomes so high that the quality actually reduces. BUT IF IT WERE IN THE DOOMFIST ANIMATION STYLE IT WOULD SOLVE THAT PROBLEM OMG
As for animation, I don't know how realistic something like the doom fist shot is to expect. I estimate that pretty much every fully animated short for OW has a higher production value per minute of footage than any animated TV show out there,. We should expect something closer to Clone Wars/Rebels or Voltron.
Torbikini (I also want his rework to give him the ability to throw his hammer like a boomerang. And to accompany the changes receives a legendary skin called.... THORbjorn!)
Nah, the in-game explanation is that most of Africa is more or less fully industrialized in the 2070s, after a few decades of rapid growth similar to China's story. It kind of makes sense considering that many African countries are getting 6% growth or more now thanks to Chinese investment.
Honestly, people always ask for a movie adaption for their favorite video game and almost every time it's a terrible idea. People don't realize when you take the gameplay out of a game then it practically loses its soul. Games are built on the idea that you aren't simply a viewer, but actually participating in the story. Overwatch could be the exception, however, mostly because we've hardly been able to participate in the actual story. Theres a very difference between the atmospheres in the gameplay and the cinematics.
KhaanMan66 That’s a problem though, movies tend to be about specific events and the timeline of overwatch contains many different ones. An all inclusive movie isn’t feasible.
And yet the question remains: what's the point of Lucio and Symmetra in all of this then? They are the only ones that have no connection to Overwatch, Talon and, to some extent, the Omnic Crisis.
Interestingly enough, they may not have ties to overwatch or the omnics crisis but they have ties to each other. Symmetra is apart of a corrupt organization that Lucio is rebellion against. Even lucios weapon is built by the tech his father made and that symmetras organization stole (I forgot the name of the organization, I usually remember but I can't think rn XD)
I wish Blizzard focused more on the lore and Michael Chu stopped constantly rewriting his own ideas. This game has a very good base for a great lore, but the developers don't seem to care about it even a slightest.
they do care...it's just if they would STOP with that...there wouldn't be a problem...although the whoel Dv'a retcon thing...isn't that big...still pretty good lore stories though...
and lucio... and symmetra... and orisa... and the events of the Dragons short but those are all probably vague and difficult to place as well as being not really tied into the story of Overwatch itself.
LocalGoat They also forgot to mention that when Doomfist escapes and regains his gauntlet and attacks Numbani, which also leads to the creation of Orisa
A few events were misplaced in the timeline. Winston came into overwatch during/before omnic crisis occured otherwise he wouldn't be shown receiving the medal for helping end the omnic crisis, doomfist's entry into talon was never mentioned, moira being in the oasis university was never stated (but implied so i suppose that kinda counts), Venice wasn't the first blackwatch mission but the incident which revealed their existence to the world, lucio and symmetra were never included in this timeline along with orisa, sombra and a few missing plot points such as biotic weapons like the ones Ana used in the game. Overall, still great
I feel that in Overwatch 2, there will be a Great War, some of many of our characters will die in battle. Some enemies will turn into allies to face the common enemy (Talon). Some of those allies will fall. And the ending will be bitter sweet but with a bright future.
yeah Blackwatch was operating many years before that event, Blackwatch was actually created when Morrison took the lead of Overwatch, because they put Reyes in charge of that new branche of the organization (because Reyes was not suited for the lead role of Overwatch, being to "rogue")

Hi, Great video but I think there might be one error . I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Jeff Kaplan did an interview during a q and a sometime earlier this year where he talked about Gabe and Jack's relationship. That not only was Gabe originally in charge of Overwatch when it first formed , BUT was actually relieved when Jack took up the mantel of strike commander instead because he didnt feel comfortable in the political role and preferred not being in the public eye so much (hence why Blackwatch,Overwatch's shadow, was a better fit for him). I think this might be the source mobile.twitter.com/Autolikescake/status/928528808445014019. ( again, this is supposedly something kaplan said , not chu -- and I know there have been some inconsistencies in the ow narrative between the two , but if any of this is true I think it would make the fall out between Gabe and Jack much more interesting than Gabe just feeling slighted as Jack becomes the "Golden Boy")
Something you may have missed, Amelie was captured before you said and actually caused the Watchpoint: Rome attack as an attempt to kill Gerard. After it failed, she became Widowmaker and then proceeded to actually kill him later.
Quick thing, it's been theorised and heavily hinted at that Genji didn't stand a fighting chance against Hanzo, because he was struck down from behind. This is also why Hanzo feels so much guilt, because it's a coward move.
this was so awesome and well put together.... thanks for this guys!! i’ve been playing this hame solely for 2 1/2 years and didn’t know half this stuff
Pretty cool to see everything organized in relative-chronological order, though there were a few mistakes here & there. For example, Ana did reach out to Pharah & her father to let them know she was alive, but didn't return to 'normal life' for fear of luring Talon to her family. The whole thing about her keeping her survival a secret was from her character release, but was retconned around the time of the Reflections comic with a few in-game voice lines & one of the devs (I think it was Michael Chu) making a Twitter/forum post. Overall good video though. Very entertaining, especially as someone who studies OW lore non-stop.
Pharah knew when she was relatively young (early-to-mid teens), so I find it hard to believe that her father wouldn't have also known. Even if it's not explicitly stated that he knows, he seems to be close to Pharah, having raised her through young adulthood.
there is only one mistake and that is that genji left overwatch after destroying his own clan and participating in the venice incident cuz he wasnt in peace with his new body and what he had done to his clan so he searched out zenyatta and became his apprentice so genji had left overwatch before it got shut down but he still had contact with mercy and when overwatch gets reactivated he searches for his brother hanzo to get him to join overwatch and fight by his side once more
Genji did not help take down the shimada clan voluntarily. Overwatch gave him an ultimatum - help them, and be reborn with cyberbotic enhancements, or be left to die.
Guys this is an amazing vid. Juat watching and reading all the lore out therw ia hard, peacing it all together like this take so much time and and effort. Thumbs up! Keep up with the good work!
Yea it seems messed up. Original script says she was 16, but Blizzard changed her to 19, because they probably knew what the fandom would wanna do with her ...
This is a very good video. The only flaw I found is when you talk about the Venice incident being Blackwatch's first mission. It is clear from dialogue in the in-game event that Blackwatch has been around awhile, and from the members of the strike team that they have been on other outings. Such as Genji's line 'this is not the first time we have had to kill'
One problem, there was no Shimada fight. Hanzo stabbed him in the back and left him for dead. The blood spray and cut on the Shimada clan Banner is the wrong direction to match up with Genji's Cyberoptic surgery as shown in his Blackwatch skin (Always the left titty). That paired with the fact Hanzo has sworn off the blade and an interaction from the Venice incident about Genji's choice to undergo enhancement: Genji: "Pain and suffering..." Mcree: "Then why did you agree to it?" Genji: "I wanted to be able to walk again." Hanzo struck from the shadows and took him down in one blow. Feeling that hurt Ninja honor he swore off the blade and swapped for the Bow, which is designed as long range. If you turn Genji around to face the banner than the direction of his surgery scars matches the tear on the clothe and provides an explaination for how he'd be unable to walk in one blow, his spine was severed.
Thank you so much for this video! I write Overwatch fanfictions and it kills me that I can't stay to the plot and time lie of things, but now I can which is so amazing. This is such a great and useful video to help me wrap my head around the lore, because I found it really confusing. Super video!
Guys,The reason why there is no Overwatch movie is because for every hero they add,Another thing they need to add to the story. And they add a new hero for I think every 4 months and if they do make the movie and add a new character. Whats gonna be their story and contribution to Overwatch/Blackwatch/Talon if they weren’t in the movie?
Enjoyable, informative, but quite incomplete. There were many in the timeline left out. When did Genji face his brother and reveal himself, when was Orisa made, when did the Doomfist break out of prison, and what about Lucio, Sombra and Symmetra? Take a little more time to make a more in depth timeline, and I'll keep that in my favorites. Never played the game, but love the whole story and concept.
Overwatch lore are so amazing and rich, everytime i hear, read or see a new one it keep me wanting for more. Such a inspiration and fascinating universe. Also good work on this video and i hope to see more in the future😁. Ps: Hoping for another video on the reunite of overwatch cause that is a must
Hanzo tried killing Genji 10 years ago and mei and her teammates enter cryogen sleep 9 yrs ago. There are a few mistakes I think in this vid but i like the dedication in the info. Really nice video.
Haha two years later and we're still not any further in the story line then the release trailer. That being said, great video. It's so hard to piece together on your own.
6:16 Mei-koh? If Roadhog is From New Zealand and is 'native' Maori, it's probs pronounced Mah-kaw (translating to shark). If he and his name is not Maori, please disregard this comment.
It kinda makes me feel weird that reinheart could be my little brother as far as age goes in the Overwatch lore. You would think that Overwatch would take place 100-200 years in the future, not 60 lol
I love overwatch I also hate it too Briggittes the main reason wh there are people in Diamond or above from playing her its really sad and what they have done to my main Sombra really pissedme off everybody plays her and shes not as fun

I couldn’t express my love for Overwatch.
10:00 lol that voice crack
Something you may have missed, Amelie was captured before you said and actually caused the Watchpoint: Rome attack as an attempt to kill Gerard. After it failed, she became Widowmaker and then proceeded to actually kill him later.
Quick thing, it's been theorised and heavily hinted at that Genji didn't stand a fighting chance against Hanzo, because he was struck down from behind. This is also why Hanzo feels so much guilt, because it's a coward move.
This was honestly so amazing. Amazing job man I didn't know like 83% of the stuff you said!
I thought this was going to be some gamer whining that Overwatch is “dead.” But I’m definitely down for some lore.
this was so awesome and well put together.... thanks for this guys!! i’ve been playing this hame solely for 2 1/2 years and didn’t know half this stuff
Rise of overwatch - before brig
Fall of overwatch - brig
Pretty cool to see everything organized in relative-chronological order, though there were a few mistakes here & there. For example, Ana did reach out to Pharah & her father to let them know she was alive, but didn't return to 'normal life' for fear of luring Talon to her family. The whole thing about her keeping her survival a secret was from her character release, but was retconned around the time of the Reflections comic with a few in-game voice lines & one of the devs (I think it was Michael Chu) making a Twitter/forum post.
Overall good video though. Very entertaining, especially as someone who studies OW lore non-stop.
Fareeha does know that Ana's alive, Sam, however, does not.
Pharah knew when she was relatively young (early-to-mid teens), so I find it hard to believe that her father wouldn't have also known. Even if it's not explicitly stated that he knows, he seems to be close to Pharah, having raised her through young adulthood.
I love the video, can you do league of legend’s timeline next ?
Maybe! That sounds like a good idea.
Oh my god i love so much how the monotone voice holds the entire video except for 2 seconds at 11:48 for "become widowmaker"
And now there's a hamster.
In a FPS game.
In Overwatch.
whewhjwbirwbirbe
there is only one mistake and that is that genji left overwatch after destroying his own clan and participating in the venice incident cuz he wasnt in peace with his new body and what he had done to his clan so he searched out zenyatta and became his apprentice so genji had left overwatch before it got shut down but he still had contact with mercy and when overwatch gets reactivated he searches for his brother hanzo to get him to join overwatch and fight by his side once more
Genji did not help take down the shimada clan voluntarily.
The Leaderboard: Become MatPat
Keep in mind. That *ana* the sniper we all call grandma was born in *2016*
LMAO
I thought D.Va was drafted at the age of 19
Yea it seems messed up. Original script says she was 16, but Blizzard changed her to 19, because they probably knew what the fandom would wanna do with her ...
She was drafted at 16, but she's 19 by the time Overwatch came about again.
^good point
She was drafted at age 16, but in the time that the game is set she’s 19
Yeah
That paired with the fact Hanzo has sworn off the blade and an interaction from the Venice incident about Genji's choice to undergo enhancement:
Genji: "Pain and suffering..."
Mcree: "Then why did you agree to it?"
Genji: "I wanted to be able to walk again."
Hanzo struck from the shadows and took him down in one blow.
Umm hanzo cutted hes arm actually
The blade went through his spine up into his shoulder, in a diagonal.
Thank you so much for this video! I write Overwatch fanfictions and it kills me that I can't stay to the plot and time lie of things, but now I can which is so amazing. This is such a great and useful video to help me wrap my head around the lore, because I found it really confusing. Super video!
Venice is definetly not the first Blackwatch mission
Definitely the most important one though regarding how things transpired afterwards.
This helped clear up a lot of confusion I had, thank you!!
Good Work. Thank you.
Can this please get more views?
This deserves so much more attention
1:39 All you have to do to solve this problem is *nerf Bastion*
youre right so winston
For those here in 2020 Liao is the creator of Echo (Hero 32)
I thought he was gonna talk about the fall of the game itself lol
FizzyDrink haha same 😂
Still a great game tho
I literally thought the same thing lmao
@@gmh2374 It's mediocre at best, polish is the only thing it has going for it.
The game died for me a long time ago because of a lack of updates and bug fixes
@Lol Funny video its near the top of twitch views on regular soooo...
Dude... what an amazingly well-done video. Great work.
2:07/2:08 and America starts trying to make a Captain America army!!
Yea lol
The editing of this video is beautiful
very nice
dude I love the way this guy tells the story line of all this its amazing.
where is pharah ? sombra and many more
7:41 "Younger..." **awkward pause** "Brother."
What about all the different coming back after the recall, like reindhardt and Mei
Torbjorn lvl 3 sentry, symmetry dual ult, with teleporters that come from spawn, mercy mass revives, mccree damage, etc...
Make overwatch great again!
This video makes me feel old
"Approximately" count: approximately 13
Well done I have been waiting for a video like this and you nailed it

Really good vid. This is really helpful when your explaining this game two other people
"2076"
One year before the Great War, where everyone uses nuclear energy and then kills each other over oil.
*Just Fallout Things =)*

Bring back the old mercy
But then you wouldn't be able to do small res

Hanzo tried killing Genji 10 years ago and mei and her teammates enter cryogen sleep 9 yrs ago. There are a few mistakes I think in this vid but i like the dedication in the info. Really nice video.
I'm already Tracer.
What about widowmaker
I’m already widowmaker
I’ll be Bastion
Seriously nerf bastion
You‘re right so Winston
Great Video! Thanks for compiling all this !
Thanks for watching!
I thought you meant literally, the rise and fall of the popularity of the game known as Overwatch
awesome video dude , and what an awesome lore
Do one about R6
Haha two years later and we're still not any further in the story line then the release trailer. That being said, great video. It's so hard to piece together on your own.
Wait! D.Va is 16!? What have we done...
mmm i've seen some videos of d.va online 😉
The D.Va in the present is nineteen.
The D.Va in the present is nineteen.
@@JaelinBezel no she isnt
Oh well that shut me up.
6:16 Mei-koh? If Roadhog is From New Zealand and is 'native' Maori, it's probs pronounced Mah-kaw (translating to shark). If he and his name is not Maori, please disregard this comment.
Didn't know there was another way to pronounce that name. Unfortunately Roadhog's lineage is only speculative but still, this is good to know
Really interesting thought, but it has been pronounced "Mei-koh" by multiple characters in game and other game developers.
MercedesCorvette Including Roadhog himself. It's a rare voiceline.
it's written down as Mako
I love how Roadhog has a kind of Maui skin like if you have seen moana/vaiana and agree
I love how such alot of stuff happens in such small time.
NOICE
It kinda makes me feel weird that reinheart could be my little brother as far as age goes in the Overwatch lore. You would think that Overwatch would take place 100-200 years in the future, not 60 lol
I love Overwatch. Like if you agree
But fortnite is dying dont you think and what about reworks also fortnite is extremely buggy because they update
I love overwatch I also hate it too Briggittes the main reason wh there are people in Diamond or above from playing her its really sad and what they have done to my main Sombra really pissedme off everybody plays her and shes not as fun
Tbh thats more of an OOF than what happened to Overwatch
@FG_BustingNutz and rapidly falling sooo...
memeydreamy Then why are you here
