Thank you so much for this series. I completed the same job on my '99 v10 following your videos and now she runs like brand new 👌

Thank you for taking the time. Very good information for any reason you didn’t put a new oil pump. I am getting ready to do the same job on my 1999 v10.

@@davidc7406 No particular reason. Changing out the oil pump isn't too much work once you have the front cover off 👍

After watching the entire series on the F250 head job all I can say is THANK YOU!!! I have the same truck except mine is a '99, and I was told I would have to remove the cab to do the job. Obviously that is not true. Due to the inadequate spark plug thread depth, the truck I inherited from a friend (due to this issue) has previously had the spark plug blow out in 7 of 10 cylinders, so I need to do this same work. Your video was very informative to me. You are a good teacher and mechanic and I appreciate you.

Thanks. I think it’s a problem in the block- the engine rotates almost a full rotation then stops hard, I’ve got the heads off and watch the pistons go up and down as I rotate the engine. So I guess something has broken off and is jamming the crank or maybe a bit of the starter in the bell housing

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@AG-gy7qq so even with the heads off, the engine is binding? But all the Pistons are moving fully up and down? Was this the problem that motivated you to pull the heads?

    • @AG-gy7qq

Yes, the engine seemed to be seized, I was hoping for a broken valve, but now it seems like something is jamming the crank. Got to get my engine hoist and pull the block out

Man, thank you so so much for taking the time to do this video series. You do a great job of outlining the work for the day, time lapsing (with good tunes!) and rounding it all out with key take aways of what you encountered while performing the work. I'm about to undertake this job on my 02 as I was replacing studs for exhaust manifolds and found water in the exhaust port of cylinder 1.
I'd love to know why so many people think you can't do this job or even remove valve covers on these trucks without removing or jacking up the cab or engine. It makes no sense.

@@marinerrhyme8885 Thanks for your comment! This was a fun project. When I look up the service information for removing the heads the first step is to remove the engine. Not sure why but I'm glad I didn't have to. If you have any questions during your repair feel free to comment 👍

@@ValleyMobileAutomotive Well, it took me a while but it's back together, no check engine light, no leaks, and runs great. It was a fun project and I'm glad I could do it with your help. Taking the front clip off really made this job so much easier and it really isn't that much work to remove/ reassemble. Enjoy a coffee on me!

Question..... If you had to do another one of these jobs, would you do it the same way? Or would you pull the engine? And did you work on it 8 hrs a day or 10 hrs a day? Or more or less? Great video, I'm glad you made it!!

Thanks for this series. 2005 Excursion V10. About to take this on myself and this video gives me some confidence.
Few starting questions if I can ask here?
I plan to replace timing chain too...do you recommend replacing the cam and crank gears or should they be fine? Wondering if they wear together and should be replaced together?
Recommend doing oil pump just because we're in there? Or not unless?
Most of my fear is in dealing with the whole from cover, pulleys, timing etc. gonna watch these videos a dozen times...but is it as fairly straightforward as you show or is there anything highly technical not shown?
Any idea of differences from this F250 to the excursion?
Thanks in advance...your coffee thing doesn't seem like enough but happy to do it!

Good questions. Typically you want to change the timing gears with the chain. The oil pump is up to you. I didn't change the pump on this one. The front cover isn't too difficult, the one thing I would do differently is remove the power steering pump pulley. You can remove the pump with the pulley on but it's so much easier with it off. I'm not sure the differences between the F series and the excursion, sorry. I hope your project goes well. If you have anymore questions feel free to post 👍
