A stellar performance! It's so nice to see Jan and Jeff in good health, still playing their instruments so well, and fully enjoying each other's company over the passing of many decades. That's a rare combination these days.

Yes... an old guy who composed countless songs, including the theme to Miami Vice. And set the trail for others... including Jeff Beck. The best of fusion, and for those who don't know...
Love the Miami Vice theme. Used to crank it up every Friday night through my 3 channel stereo VCR into my 3 channel amp with two 3 way front speakers with 12 inch inch woofers, two 2 way rear speakers with 8 inch woofers and a JBL 2 way speaker in the center with a 5 inch woofer and titanium tweeter. Also had the 4 speakers from the Sony TV on too. No subwoofer needed. Cutting edge then. Cranked as loud as possible without the neighbors complaining. Love that theme.

This was a great reunion ! First time I saw JB was with Jan during the Wired Tour when it came through Omaha. Fricking excellent show. Last time I saw him in person was the Back Yard just outside of Austin, with Jennifer B. on that techno album tour, again excellent show. What amazed me about Jeff other than his great guitar playing and improvising wizardry, is that he never appeared to break a sweat, confident and having fun the whole show. Pretty amazing considering the thousands of notes he played flawlessly.
Back in the 70's I saw The Atlanta Rhythm Section/Santana/Jeff Beck w/ Jan Hammer on the same show one night. Not a festival or anything. It was just an amazing 3 band billing. Carlos & Jeff. Two of the worlds best guitarist together that evening. It was pretty awesome!!!

Great sound! Great comp! Great chops! These two men take me back to the 60's @ age 8 when I first heard "Heart Full of Soul" from the album, "Rave Up With The Yardbirds." And then in the 70's @ age 15 when I first heard Jan on "Birds of Fire." That album changed the whole direction of my musical life (even though I was a classical violinist through my career). And I stayed loyal to both artists through the years always hearing new and creative musical journeys.
Saw these two guys back in 1976 when the album "Blow by Blow" came out. They were on fire! Jan was at the top of his game. Jeff blowed the house down! The best live show I've ever seen.... Glad I got to see these two in their hay day. I still listen to this album. The only other live show that came close to this kind of energy was Thomas Dolby with the lost toy people in 1988. "Aliens ate my Buick" tour. I'm a keyboard player from the 80's. Jan Hammer @ Thomas Dolby are my hero's. Jeff Beck was from another world, rip brother.

Beck and Hammer were pioneers who changed music during a period when the sky was the limit. I am very grateful to have been born in 1956 so I was able to personally experience this renaissance in Rock in the '60's and '70's. There were so many fantastic bands and musicians who came from the Rock genre back then that it's hard to believe, plus seeing many of them live in concert as well. Beck I saw 5 times, Hammer 3 times including the concert they played together. I'm a keyboardist and guitarist and these two guys were big influences, along with Zappa, Emerson, and Fripp. And I have not even mentioned what was happening in Jazz during this period! Fusion bands like Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Larry Coryell's Eleventh House and Return to Forever, were to influence Jeff Beck to go in a Fusion direction with Blow by Blow. Incredible!
Met Jeff backstage at Pinecrest (Connecticut; August 1976) after a fantastic Beck/Hammer Live outdoor gig. The only topic of conversation was his excitement to the upcoming fall leg where he was to selectively co-bill w/Tommy Bolin (Teaser-Nemporer/Private Eyes-CBS). Unfortunately Tommy passed away at his hotel after their opening date in Miami on Dec 4, 1976 as I recall. Two kindred souls with mutual respect. Tommy was also related to Jan from the Spectrum (Billy Cobham) sessions.
Why I loved Jeff Beck so much; it always had such fun...and never took himself too seriously...when it mattered. My big brother and I, since we were zit-faced kids, were Beck’s #1 and #2 fans. Now my brother is gone and now Beck is gone. Only one thing to do - put on some Beck. Peace ya'll.

Sending you much Love and appreciation for the beautiful music 💗
It was very gracious of Kyle Gass to sit in on the keyboards.
Jeff Beck to Jan Hammer, "hey, a got gig at the hollywood bowl. Whatcha' doing, wanna come along?" Jan Hammer, "Sure, I'm just out in the garage moving stuff around. Nothing I got to dressed up for, do I?" Jeff, "naw man, just come down." Jan Hammer, "see ya" Hey kids this how talented adults do it. Jeff Beck, guitar Royalty
Thank you, Jeff and Jan!
Jan Hammer: Amazing musical mind, dressed as an accountant 😎
because he can... he will... :)
