The song Jerusalem is a popular hymn, sung in churches, schools, as the anthem of the Women’s Institute and at sporting events across England and many consider it to be the unofficial English anthem. Sir Hubert Parry wrote the music for Jerusalem. Because 'Jerusalem' represents an ideal; a bucolic vision of a free and unencumbered people sharing a 'green and pleasant land'. Surely Mr Gilmour and Mr Beck get this; why else would they play it? All nations have and need their iconography; this is part of ours.
+Rex Magnum Without claiming any biographical knowledge here (and not wanting to rely particularly on Wikipedia generally), Wikipedia notes that "Geoffrey Arnold Beck was born on 24 June 1944 to Arnold and Ethel Beck at 206 Demesne Road, Wallington, England" and that "As a 10-year-old, Beck sang in a church choir". Moreover 'Beck' is an old English locational surname. Doesn't seem very Jewish to me.... Perhaps you could elaborate?
Hearing these 2 play together...is such a treat.....then playing this song.... I don't know another version of this song which is more beautiful than this......if it is out there....someone say so.....this is it......
Just wow! It doesn't get better than this!
Tato Schab SHOW
DON SCHAB
Wow. Just wow. Didn't know these guys ever played together like this. And with this band... Thumbs up if you think these two could put out the best instrumental guitar record in 25+ years. How about it guys? Before it's too late...
I am so sad at the loss of a guitar god - cannot express in words how I feel
