Channel Awesome Would it help any if I said I never watched the Bay Transformers flicks after the first one (and even then, *only* out of curiosity)? I was always a Beast Wars fan growing up, and while I deeply respect the original for not only launching both Frank Welker and Peter Cullen's careers, but also Transformers as a household name, that's not what got me into the Transformers franchise.

I haven't seen transformers 4 nor 5, but I could have called most of that. Doesn't take a genius to figure out Bay's garbage formula.
Even if everyone in US decided not to see the movie, it would still make a huge profit. US doesn't matter anymore when it comes to Hollywood.

You know, if I were Michael Bay I would try something different. I would make a movie loosely adapted from Transformers: Beast wars. It follow Optimus prime traveling into the future to help the Maximals protect the allspark from Megatron and the Predacons.

1. Will have the story watered down, dumb down, or both
2. Drag on scenes for way too long while fast forward scenes too fast so the pacing can be inconsistent.
3. Make the faces lifeless as all he** even though real lions are more expression
4. Scar will be dull and forgettable compared to the original
5. The songs will sound like Jon Favrou(sorry for misspelling his last name) put a cd of the original on my big speakers and make the singing(except the kids singing) sound worse
6. Mufasa's death will not be a tear jerker like the original
7. Seth Rogen always sounds like Seth Rogen like in his other animated movies.
8. The colors are really dull(unless you see it in dolby cinema at amc)
9. The acting will underplay the actors so badly
10. They will water down a really good scene or cut it out
11. Make sure nothing offensive in the original is here because soccer moms and the MPAA won't shut their mouths.
12. Make the new songs sound worse than Morning Report and disney sequel songs.
13. Add plot holes, add filler, and have no love in the character development
14. Mufasa's spirit will look like a real cloud instead of Mufasa is made from Heaven
15. Abusing the power of nostalgia without understanding why we have nostalgia for these movies.
Tell me if I'm wrong, if I'm right, tell everyone not to see this remake like I'm saving my money.

Once upon a time each new years releases of Transformers had a theme and was lots of new characters - then one day someone decided they needed to start bringing back the old ones more and more - and it stuck for a while but still with new ones - but for the 2000's it was like one show after another with minor changes - so you end up having to say which Starscream you are talking about as there isn't just one now.
These Movies repeat themselves but not with the Characters so much (they just keep Optimus, Bumblebee and Megatron) but with the concepts.
Of some mcguffin threatens The Earth type plot. The robots change - likely for marketing reasons... but the joke is that they harm the sale potential due to the Movie only being a year apart for 3 years so that people will not even get sold much stuff before it's pulled.
I found it strange that Hasbro didn't even mention that it was the 10th Anniversary of the 2007 Transformers Movie - and you still can't get figures of Humans (except the odd minifigure).

The strangest thing about this Movie is Squeeks is so obviously meant to be a BB-8 like character but not only are they not hardly in the Movie - they can't even Transform. ( on purpose or a licensing screw up - though ?).
Oh and this one has a Cliffhanger ending which is a little unusual.

The only reason I watch transformers movies is to see robots kick eachothers asses but surprisingly this movie spent half it's time on humans and I can't remember a single memorable action scene besides Bee vs Prime. I spent my money hoping for some CGI action goodness but this movie offered nothing besides a convoluted ass story, dry humor and some the weirdest fucking pacing I've ever seen.
He got everything right except for the pointless After Credit sequence.
If Michael Bay continues with these cliches in his Transformers movies, you might as well make a drinking game out of it.

I watched the first film and thought "its silly, creepy and bad, but they can only go up from here". I watched one or two movie of the films, only to give up on the film franchise.

I actually did this to transformers 3 when my buds invited me to go to the theatre with them.
They were pretty peeved about my killjoy attitude and edgy arrogance of "i already know what's going to happen before watching it" attitude.
They were even more upset that evening when my summary was mostly apt. Blamed me for ruining their immersion and ability to suspend disbelief.
The bad script and directing should have taken me out of it.
I remember going into the movie upset due to 2 I left upset because even though it was better I got nothing of value out of it.🤷🏾♂️

He could asst this point do prediction reviews for all really tired movies, and then only do a review if they actually break the mold. This was just as entertaining as an actual review,I would have no issues if he kept doing this.

Not just the G1 cartoon, but Beast Wars, Armada, Animated and Prime had the balls to kill off popular characters or the main character (hasn't been Optimus, but they still show death)

Also, I'm positive I could've written and possibly even directed a far, far better Transformers movie than this one. Seriously, if I didn't know they'd throw it into the garbage can without opening it, I'd write a script myself and send it to Hollywood. Well, if you're still in school and you know you could've done a better job than someone who's been doing the same stuff his whole life, that's... really sad.

Can we use this video as proof that no one should see the new Transformers movies? Even just on principle alone? If enough people decided not to go, in protest of how bad and repetitive these movies are, the film wouldn't profit and things might actually change.

@@fulcrum6760 Thankfully, The Last Knight underperformed in the box office. And Bumblebee was an actual really good movie. It seems to me that thanks to The Last Knight underperforming, Paramount got the message that this franchise wasn't going to fly with the super casual audience anymore that once went to these movies. They knew the franchise had to change for the better, so theu decided to get actual talent to work on Bumblebee to make sure the franchise could still make a profit for them in the long run. And that's where Travis Knight and Christina Hodson came in.
And thank God they did. I'll be looking forward to the sequel.

One thing I really like about this "non"- review is that the first few minutes has no background music at all, like Doug wants us to know just how serious he is about this and something about it just comes off as ominous and I can't help but love this video for that.

First one: "Ooo! A Transformers movie! This is gonna be awesome!" Then it sucked.
Second one: "Another Transformers movie? I'd better see it; it can't possibly be worse than the first one." Aaaaaaand, it was even worse.
Third one: "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." Didn't go see it, or any of the later ones.
That was the best point to quite. The First Movie is goood. The Second is okay. The fird? Has SOME Enyoiable things but...is mostly garbage. The 4? Complete Garbage? The 5? Fucking Batman and Robin is a better Movie than this!

I still like the first Transformers movie. The rest just.... lose me. They blend together into one big Bay Mess.
Ironically, the best things to come out of the Michael Bay movies are: the Transformers Prime cartoon, which undeniably has echoes of the setup and the character appearance for the Cybertronians, and the fanfiction. I've read fanfics based off these movies that are a few thousand words shy of a MILLION words long and they have so much depth and development and worldbuilding, which never appears in the movies. It's actually kind of stunning.
The only reason I'd want to bother with the 5th Transformers movie is to see if Bay manages to fuck up Unicron. Because it should be impossible to fuck up Unicron, ITS UNICRON FOR GODS SAKE.
Also, that fucking tagline "Rethink your heroes" FUCK YOU MICHAEL BAY, YOU ALREADY FUCKED OVER MEGATRON, YOU DON'T GET TO FUCK OVER OPTIMUS FUCKING PRIME AS WELL. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW YOU WILL. YOU ASS. OPTIMUS DESERVED BETTER.

I'm not sure if that planet sized thing is Unicron... I think Bay also hated the idea of Transformer Planets as he did with the Dinobots (it was Hasbro that forced him to add them to the 4th movie). But it doesn't matter if the giant planet thing is Unicron or not; it's just a giant metal machine for the villain to ride in. ;)
I think that would be too demanding for TF audiences intelligence, haha. XD Honestly, that was an interesting interpretation of Unicron. But again, I don't think this is Unicron; and if it is, it's going to be the worst interpretation of Unicron because it won't have any character--or won't even be a character. Feel free to disagree, but I don't think that's Unicron.
The best part of the movie is that LITERALLY EVERY DIFFERENT SHOT is in a different aspect ratio because "art"
You know what’s a good sign for Rise of the Beasts? The new director actually said that they had a long discussion about what has and hasn’t been done in Transformer movies, and they made an effort to avoid anything that’s already been done.
They’re trying to make sure that this film won’t be a repeat like the other ones.
