Just a week or two ago I started meditation. The course had different types of breathing techniques and out of all of them square breathing was my favorite!
Visualising the square and counting the seconds going from one to the next corner completely takes my mind capacity, making me forget everything around me.
Seeing you now post this makes me see how much value your channel has.
Thanks for your videos Dr. Mandell !

I really didn’t focus to much on my breathing UNTILL I started studying Shotokan. When I started training. I was always out of breath doing Kata and multiple basic techniques. One of my fellow student notice me way out of breath. And he explained to me that Shotokan Kata has what is know as Dynamic Breathing. Different breathing techniques for different aspect of your body movement. And Bam. Changed everything. Went through Class with so much more energy and relaxation. Was able to train much longer and harder. And it help with calming my Spirit. Where I wasn’t so Amped up. And I’ve added this breathing to everything I do. I love running. But had to stop due to bad knee. But before I really focused on my breathing. Made running easier and more relaxed and fluid. Proper breathing. Creates proper Thinking. Proper Thinking creates. Proper Results. Like in real combat. Slow the breathing. Slow the Fight. Extremely important. Great vid Dr. You stop breathing and moving. Your dead.

I forgot wherei learned that from.I think it was in the Military. but the way i do it is start out with 6 seconds up, hold six ley out six, then breath in six.do it six times. then go to eight seconds, do it eight times. after several weeks you can work up to 10 to 12seconds each part .believe this or not, that helped me quit smoking! when i wanted a ciggrette i just did box breathing till the erge left! it works!

Jill Johnson and OXYCISE! This lady introduced me to “diaphragmatic breathing” over 20 years ago.
Utilizing this technique in conjunction with yoga; I lost over 100 pounds and expanded my lung capacity.
It was important for me to maximize my lung health as much as possible because I was a smoker. I have been breathing like this for years, and multiple times throughout the day!
I love seeing the people that I trust and follow, co-sign the things that I have learned over the years, and implement on a daily basis.
    Thanks for this Doc!🫶🏾👍🏾

Therefore, they are not equipped to share the same information that you share on your channel, which I just love!

I had been doing this kind of breathing for nine months before Covid hit me. Nine days into Covid they found that I had Covid double pneumonia. I completely recovered quickly, and upon x-ray of my lungs, they didnt find any scarring, no evidence of pneumonia and no evidence of Covid pneumonia in my lungs, I know that this box breathing helped my lungs immensely.
