    Glad you are enjoying your bike also. I got a 2012 non-abs CBR250R as my first bike and hit my 600 mile in just a few days.
    250 is great for everyone. Maybe not the extreme adrenaline junkies and squids with a death wish, but anyone who wants a fun ride, great gas mileage, or a good commuter. The CBR250R is the best choice available.
    ABS sounds great, I just didnt want to spend the extra cash for it.
    Everybody remember, safety comes first. Wear a helmet at the very least.

    have just bought this bike full ABS version build & ride quality is fantastic & I have had CBR 600F GPZ 500 & this little Honda brings a smile to my face every time its so light & flick able with punchy engine ...I just ride it & love it & had it over 95mph on straight run really surprised me.

    Glad to hear you still like it after about a year of owning it. Good review... The CBR250R ABS seems to be a great modern 250!

    I wanted to thank you for this review, it was a huge factor in me picking up the 2012 CBR 250RA for my first bike, bought it at the beginning of July, got my bike license 2 days ago and its almost due for first Oil change/ Service. Love the bike, is great for running around in the city and today took it out for a good run on the highway. Anyway.. thanks again.

    Great comprehensive review. As a very experienced rider myself, I highly recommend this bike. As Moto Apex said, it's not a 600 Super Sport and it never will be. No matter what you do to it. Enjoy it for what it is.
    Have fun on a light, very competent machine.

    Purchased my CBR250R without ABS July 2011 just hit 7500 miles. Absolutely fantastic, no issues. Tops out at about 96mph gets 70mpg with normal highway riding but do some more in town and it will do better.

    Nice bike, nice video, thanks for posting.
    I went out and bought one, they really are a fun bike, certainly no slug, they can accelerate and as you say they can maintain highway speed. Cheap to maintain, easy to repair and quite economical on fuel, a good all round machine as usual from Honda. Keep the videos coming.

    Very informative video. I'm someone who has been out of bike riding for 12 or so years, thinking about getting back in. I was looking at both the CBR250R as well as the Rebel. Both appeal to me for different reasons. You may have swayed me to the CBR with the positive aspects of 6spd, liquid cooling, and fuel injection.

    I'm looking at the NC700x (I saw your review on it) - the price for a new 2012 it under $6,000 + TTL I'm thinking of getting it I I can convince my wife ): I used to own a Yamaha SX750 Special a looooooong time ago (1978) I miss riding. In 1979 I took it on a 10,000 mile 30 day trip around the US and Canada - California to New England and then back thru Canada -- great memories. Thanks for your videos.

    I've been out of town in NYC, so I'm slow in replying ...SO, thank you for your comment. I hope that you stay happy with the bike. I now have nearly 8,000 miles on the bike with no issues. It's just an excellent all around motorcycle.
    I really enjoy making these videos and appreciate knowing that there helpful to new riders.

    This is a good comment. I do the same thing on the expressway. Lowering my profile adds about 5mph or so. When I rise up, the speed is lost as you say. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Hi Mark, I service the chain about every three rides. I just like to get the grim off and get fresh chain lube on. Unlike my old bike, this one seems to hold the chain tension between 4,000 mile service intervals. I want to go a video with the dealer on certain maintenance issues--hope to get to that point soon. Thanks for commenting and watching my videos!

    I have the same bike but in black. I bought it about 2 weeks ago. It's a great bike so far. I wouldn't buy a bike without ABS. Bikes are dangerous enough without them. ABS will help you in a panic stop and help prevent you from dropping your bike. I researched some bikes and although I wanted a Kawasaki Ninja, their lowest bike with ABS is is the 1000 or 10R. I wasn't about to dump $12K on an overpowered bike as a starter. This is the only sport bike anywhere near this price with ABS.

    Still looks great.. How often you lube the chain and do you do you own chain adjustment or do you take it to the dealer? How often or how many miles do you go before adjusting your chain?

    Great! Your r accurate on the pipe mod. If u are looking to make the mod, you want to look at the power commander first to make sure the map exists for the pipe you are looking to install. I purchased a DanMoto exhaust & to date cannot find a map. I spoke with my dealer, they told me to budget about $1,000.00 (w/ labor) & I have to sign a waiver saying I take full responsibility for all fines I rec., some can be up to $2,000.00. These are fines for not meeting fed emission req not noise.

    In this Video you talk about running your bike up around the 8k rpm, just wondering if you run all your gearing up that high when cruising at lower speeds as well or just in the 5th gear situation you talk about here. Also wondering if you've noticed any negative effects of doing so. i kept mine down around 5-6 till first service/valve adjust but have been running it a little higher lately just want to make sure im not hurting the bike.

    I have just noticed a noticeable slight rattle on mine at about this rpm?

  • @stbr0510
    @stbr0510 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't go by speed for shift points, I go by rpm generally I shift around 4700 to 5500 rpm with normal riding. In the manual it states the recommended shift points. I normally will cruise around town at 35 to 40mph in 5th gear, but over 40mph I will shift to 6th unless on hilly terrain. I recommend going shifting according to the manual that way you aren't putting extra stress on parts since the engine has plenty of power to give you at low rpm.

  • @hgl1001
    @hgl1001  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    First service at 600 miles and then every 4000. As to the chain, there are lots of ideas about that including use of wax. My approach is to use Motul chain cleaner and chain lube about every three rides (which are each about 200 miles+). However, the last mechanic to work on my bike used wax, which seem to last a long time, so 500 miles seems reasonable. The mechanic before that recommended light lube like Motul, which is what I like because I tend to clean the chain often. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Michael, I'm getting between 65 and 70 mpg at speeds of, say, 55 to 60 on the expressway or in normal driving on side streets. MPG drops when I run it flat out at 70 mph of course! But, at any speed, this bike gets great mileage.

  • @hgl1001
    @hgl1001  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm between 6.500 and 7.000 on miles and the back tire is squared off. I could ride it more, but I've ordered Pirelli Rosso II tires for the front and back. Front looks new but I have decided to not mix brands. I liked the stock tires and think I got good wear from the back. The Chain is like new. I clean and lub it often. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    the 600 mile one is to check for shavings in the engine because it is brand new. They want to make sure that everything is fine with the engine before you ride it too much.

    The first real valve check is 15,000; I'm at 12K, so it's coming soon. Kind of an expensive service. The manual may say to do it a little earlier, but the dealer says 15k is the time to do it. I did the 600; can' recall if there was a check then.

    Hey, Im in West Ga., how is your fuel economy? I currently ride a Honda PCX 150, but with a 55 mph daily commute with hills, I get between 70-75 mpg..

  • @hgl1001
    @hgl1001  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm just running at higher revs in 5th. My bike is well broken in and I think the engine can take the revs. However, until I had a few thousand miles on the bike, I'd be sure to vary the speed and not run the revs as hard. I certainly agree on being particularly easy until the first service.

    There are mixed feelings among riders about ABS. I think the bike is safe without ABS, but I would recommend it. I like the added safety of combined ABS. I think it's helped me a time or two, and I can't think of any negatives. Thanks for posting and watching!

    I had a question about rattle sounds before. This bike sounds so different from my first, which was a two cylinder. The single on the cbr makes a range of sounds that have taken me getting used to, but the more I ride it the more I find it breaking in and running better and better (or I just have gotten used to the sounds and running at higher rpms)!

    About 7,800--next service at 8,000 . I put on miles pretty fast because my typical ride is 80 miles up and back from the mountains plus another 70 or so mountain riding miles.

    I've not gotten up to that speed. How fast do get in fifth gear before going to 6th. Just interested because I'm getting more comfortable running at higher rpms and just wanted your feedback. Today in my ride I pushed the bike harder in 5th before going to 6th.

    I do. I was going to buy the bike without ABS but did because the only one I could find has ABS. Now that I have it, I'm glad to have it. I believe that it increases the safety of the bike in a hard stop (emergency stop). The chance of a wheel lock-up are reduced. That's my view--others may differ and can say why.
