  • The Honda CTX DCT 2014 is 670cc parallel twin cruiser with a fully automatic transmission (DCT). Moto Apex provides an overview of the CTX in terms of its intended rider as a fully automatic transmission motorcycle and its riding characteristics. There is also a segment of on camera video showing the motorcycle perform in full automatic accelerating on to the expressway and passing on the expressway. This motorcycle has two automatic modes: drive, which is a standard mode and S (sport), which is a higher rev mode. Plus, the motorcycle has a fully manual mode still without having to use a clutch lever. The controls for mode change and manual control are shown.

    i am 42 years old and I just purchased the CTX 700 full fairing with DCT, this is my 5 bike and first auto bike.......love the DCT and cannot imagine going back to a regular bike. Hope Honda makes more DCT models. For a 700cc bike, it has a peppy engine that gets up to hwy speeds quickly and is perfect for every day riding to work, school and around town. The bike is a perfect size for me, i am 5.7 and 165 lbs. Great job Honda, a fan for life!

    just completed the MSF class, this bike appeals to me as a new rider and the low seat height is perfect for me, I saw one in the Honda dealership and it looks awesome.

    The 700 has plenty of power for speeds within the legal limit.
    The NC/CTX series make awesome commuter bikes. If you have to commute in a lot of traffic, the torque and DCT will make your commute much more pleasant no matter how experienced you are.
    They are also great for just running around town. Easier to manage for parking than a big cruiser, and a lot more comfortable than a sport bike.
    If you want to shift with your foot, get a foot shifter kit. It works just like the paddle shifters. At least I hope that's still available.

    Doesn't it hurt your back when you have your legs forward like that?

    The thing is all the white colored CTX700s are basic manual transmission bikes with clutch. No DCT ones available in white. Only red, black, grey or dark blue.

    how is the suspension? im looking at this and some bmw's. the bmw's all have dynamic suspensions and are very fluid and extremely soft.

      And how many thousand dollars extra do you pay for that BMW?

    I like this bike, but I would have to hold my feet on the peg's wile riding. They should make a rear set kit for it, or at least mountable peg's so that your feet point straight down at the knee.

    It would have been nice to point the camera more towards the road, but including the handlebars.
    I have been riding the Burgman 650 for 10 years already and there is no way I would go back to a shifting motorcycle. Automatic Transmission is the way to go. It is very fast and I will be getting this honda this week only because now I want the versatility of a motorcycle, not a scooter (or maybe I am concerned about the looks)

    With forward foot pegs, how is going over bumps and railroad tracks?

    • @KfrillAlekmar
      @KfrillAlekmar 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not bad. I ride one and I just pull myself up and brace my legs on the pegs for heavier bumps. I have several speed bumps and bad road repairs to go over every time I ride.

    • @charlieperry26
      @charlieperry26 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Michael Shelnutt really not bad depending on the size of bump, the suspension is good enough to eat up most bump.

    What kind of hi-viz jacket are you wearing?

    • @bcs2em625
      @bcs2em625 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the camera pans to his left while merging onto the freeway, I can see the patch of the Firstgear emblem on his left shoulder. Now just look through Firstgear's jacket line to see which jacket comes in hi-viz. Also, it doesn't seem to be a 3/4 length but a waist length jacket, so that narrows down the field of possible matches. Hope that helps.

    Seems logical that the DCT would come with ABS. Let's face it, ABS can help any rider, in a clutch (no pun intended) situation.
    The DCT is interesting. Part of the fun of riding, is clutching and shifting. I wonder how many of us have been in a hard brake, immediate acceleration moment on the streets. I know I have had at least one that I could have been much easier to navigate through with DCT and ABS combined.
    Not having to downshift, to accelerate quickly, after heavy breaking and avoiding a car...wold have been nice.
    To me, it seems like there are more idiot and distracted drivers every year. Which means its harder and harder for us to avoid the idiots. It sounds like this type of bike could enhance your ability to overcome scenarios effectively. I would say that this act might make me want to at least, take her out for a spin.

    Review was decent enough, too bad the GO PRO wasn't set a foot higher, (a little frustrating looking at the gas tank for five minutes). As to the ABS brakes, they're set up a little "spongey" so you don't end up side ways or head first under a car or into a curb.

    One thing I still don't understand that every every motorcycle manufacturer recently make 3.1-3.3 gallon tank for every new motorcycle Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda..etc They all have like 3.1-3.3 gallon...If it's touring bike,,,just have the tank like 5.1 gallon like my FZ6,,I can go easily 200 miles a tank.
    Like this bike,,,the tank trunk space they should make it for 1 more gallon so it will be perfect! (the tank's trunk space there is useless IMO!)

    • @alildrumhappy
      @alildrumhappy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      jay pth Well the ctx700 gets 60(+?) mpg with a 3.17 tank, so it will do almost 200. I agree though, add another gallon, shouldn't be too hard right?

    • @charlieperry26
      @charlieperry26 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jay pth Agreed , but depending on how and where i am riding i have gotten almost 90mpg..... i did a 90 mile run last week and only used 1.1 gals but that was at speeds of 45 to 55.. my ctx will average 65mpg at 65-75mph I do wish it had a little larger capacity, but i stop for gas at around 150 to 160 miles no mater the fuel level.

    • @Phantom8Bit
      @Phantom8Bit 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the CTX owners report around 68 mpg,. 3.17 x 68 = 215.56 miles.

    • @apkn1955
      @apkn1955 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      3.1 gal will take you 220 mi on a ctx700.

    seems like you have short legs for that bike. seat height might be fine, but too short for the pegs. get floorboards and solve your problem with reaching for pegs.

    The Brakes on that New bike will brake in some, I have the NC700X and after a couple thousand miles the brakes have gotten better. That Microphone probably needs to be a littler further away from you mouth, as it sounded overly modulated and kind of hard to listen to, when you were riding with helmet on
