That was magical. You can see the Ronnies were comic legends and the fact Ronnie B and Stephen nearly burst out in laughter makes it all the more heart warming.

It's rare you can re-work an iconic sketch and make it work, but this one does it and does it well. I'd missed this one originally but yet again it makes me miss my all-time favourite double act... and the pairing with Stephen Fry (very much in the vein of John Cleese in the classic original) works perfectly too.
That led me to believe that Ronnie C improvised the "I'm 23" line. Brilliant comics tend to do things like that as a way of tripping each other up on camera. Magical indeed.
Yes, but the Two Ronnie’s are sadly both deceased, and they were a famous Act before Stephen Fry was born, brilliant though he is, and his partnership with Hugh Laurie was comedy gold, The Ron’s were unique in their blend of character comedy, mock drama strands and Comic monologues, and of course they’re brilliant musical comedy numbers, there is simply no one to compare with them now 😢 - Julie
There was just a brief moment here when Ronnie Barker looked like he was ready to break character and burst out laughing. I think that's the only time I've seen the man do that - how he managed to stay so brilliantly deadpan boggles the mind to this day.
during the News segments at the end of their show, they did used to laugh and were often caught laughing at each others jokes. They never got to read many of those lines until the recording so they didn't know what they were reading until they read it. Hence why they were laughing.
I just love how Stephen Fry and Ronnie Baker tried not to laugh when Ronnie Corbett said he was 23 lol. Anyways to the quotes: "I work as a weaver, for that reason I'm called Mr Weaver" "I am a miller, so I'm called me Mr Miller" "My names Ramsbottom, so I'm called me Sir"
I've only seen segments of the classic Frost Report sketch, but thanks to TH-cam I can see the updated reworking first, then the original. Absolutely brilliant!
Absolutely brilliant reworking of the great classic "Class Sketch' from 'The Frost Report' of 1966. btw. I've just learnt, while looking up the details for this, that Marty Feldman was the writer of the original.
From across the pond, a bloody yank here. That was one of the funniest things I 've seen, but then again, I've seen British humour since I was 15 or 16 in the mid 60's. Monty Python was the first one I saw and I have not stopped laughing.
Nobody can beat the Poms at humour/comedy...no-one comes even close .I grew up with the Goon Show. In fact, because of it, I probably never did grow up. Les Griffiths
John Cleese always said Ronnie Corbett was the best timer of a joke he ever worked with. Judging by the way he cracks Fry and Barker up here, there's plenty of proof of that.
I'm New Labour so I don't believe in anything lol cracks me up every time also my children go to comprehensive school so they can't read either Stephen Fry Amongst comedy gods :-)
@threat bomb yea.... "I" don't know what the words mean. The labour party literally has rallies with the hammer and sicle waving and pictures of mao, lennon and marx in places of worship behind the speakers. Also socialism is about totalitarian government control and liberalism is about the powers of the individual.
This was crackingly good even with Stephen Fry. Classic Barker & Corbett. If I want a good cheer me up I watch them. Nothing better than them. Ronnie Barker was great at everything he did.
Parkinson says in the intro 'The reunion of two men who made the world laugh more than anyone with the name Ronnie' He didn't need to add 'with the name Ronnie'!
This was based on the Frost report sketch on class and so the similarity is that you have the two ronnies and 3 men standing describing themselves- their lives in history rather than their class lives. Michael Foot was from the dark Ages tho! :)
Ronnie Barker was a truly underestimated script writer.....His adaptaion of the English language is sheer brilliance in the numerous sketches 'what he wrote' (oh, sorry thats was Bernard Braden wasn't it )
A great re-working of a classic sketch. A very rare thing.
Pardon my ignorance, what the original?
@@JaneDoe-ci3gj the class sketch from the frost report you'll find it on TH-cam where frys part is played by john cleese
But it wasn't just the one sketch. It was a bit they did repeatedly, with different jokes.
Better than the original I’d say
Link to original sketch: th-cam.com/video/UDIHrX-Jp2E/w-d-xo.html
It really doesn't get much better than that - a trio of geniuses.
These guys never get old, TV was worth watching in those days.

RIP to the Two Ronnies. Corbett [1930-2016] and Barker [1929 - 2005].
Eleven years isn't close together lol, even with the ages they lived to, a decade plus one can't be considered close.

I have seen this a few times, still laughing.

Excellent! Old and new comedy working seamlessly, like abfab
They were an amazing duo. I’d love to see another duet like them, it could certainly brighten up the comedy world.
Pardon me if I'm mistaken, but I swear I saw three in this sketch.

Outstanding work Gentleman 🫡
This video hits different now that Parky's passed away. R.I.P to him and both Ronnies.
My three favorite people all on one stage.
You can see them trying hard not to laugh throughout & I can't blame them.
Was this recorded before a live audience? They should have used canned laughter.
It's generally Ronnie Corbett who can't keep it together. Ronnie Barker is usually dead pan.
It's known as corpsing here in the UK...
Still better than most comedians around today!!
no, no it's not. almost any comedian is better than this.
That joke about the old comprehensive skules was so true I nearly crapped my pants.
There's a classic comment in Yes, Prime Minister: "We'll give them a comprehensive education to make up for their Comprehensive education".
how did you spell "comprehensive" right but get "schools" wrong?

Then you have good taste.
Monty Python didn't exist until the 70s.
Traveller X, Monty Python was about late 60s. 69 I believe, could be 68.
This was wonderful. Thank you for putting this up.
I like this variation of the 'Three Classes' sketches.
Lovely to see Ronnie B's skill in working a crowd!
Great piece. RIP Ronnie Corbett
Excellent portrayal of Moder man, Renaissance man, & Medieval man.

I agree. Stephen was a pretty good replacement for John Cleese in this. I couldn't have imagined anyone else taking John's place.

Shane Wright except that isn’t John Cleese! It’s Stephen fry!
