  • The Northern Bald Ibis (Geronticus eremita - also known as Waldrapp or Hermit Ibis) is an endangered species that came back from the brink of extinction. In the late 1990's the total wild population was estimated to be less than 60 pairs, where nowadays the total wild population is estimated to be close to 200 pairs. Apart from the wild population, for the largest part living in Morocco, there are several reintroduction projects in Europe and Asia for this species. This bird is part of the Spanish reintroduction program in Andalucia in southern Spain.
