In terms of MPG I love my punto 1.4T. It's quick with a 0-62 of around 8.2 seconds but it can still achieve up to 46MPG on long distance drives, city I get about 30MPG and that is giving it full throttle about 6/10 times its driven. But heck get it to stage 1 and you're talking going from 133BHP up to 170-180BHP and dropping the 0-60 by almost a second and still getting decent MPG.
Bit of a contradiction in terms of the performance pack. I had the previous model for a few years and replaced it with an M135i. Not in a Golf R estate and fancy a return to the vxr.
I own a 2013 corsa vxr stage 3 with fully forged engine, 3" decat exhaust, AirTec intercooler and with short shifter, carbon Bonnet, splitter, diffuser, but I find the corsa very ugly... What have they done to it?
You can buy a performance pack for a golf gti mk7 for just under a grand and Vauxhall want over 2k for a similar package for a corsa. Haha is just me that things that's an absolute joke?
gamertanafc well then technically its not going to be as reliable if its got "really low mileage" and will sell for less! Anyway who wants to say they drive a Seat?
Why wont it be as reliable? Unless all the cars you purchase have to be brand new a couple thousand on the clock wont do any harm. And a 280hp seat whats wrong with that or you could get a mk7 gti for 20k My point is these smaller hot hatches are getting very close to the golf gti/foxus st/astra vxr etc price range
nice moustache vauxhall... a lot of money for a corsa but it does come with a diff and recaros which no-one else provides in this class of hot hatches, if this isn't the fastest on track out of the fiesta st, clio turbo n 208 gti then it doesn't have much to shout about. I don't think its going to persuade many people to buy over the fiesta ST
It's all great this HP, torque and speed, what it excels at you cannot do on the crowded roads in the UK, there for it's pretty useless, plus it isn't a comfortable ride. The corsa is a nice car to look at, but it's common as muck (I have a corsa, so part of that common as muck club), a hyped up engine isn't going to change any of that.
I prefer my Abarth 595 and although less power, its still a great car to drive. 0-60 times are meaningless unless you are in a race, and not on public roads.
this cars problem is in year 2006 fiat Punto derived chassis and design, look at front small triangle windows, it is same for 10 years, and even fiat punto has the same, this car never can be a hit, because it is wrong from the beginning, i dont care what the gadgets they add the car(limited slip diff etc.), it can never beat a fiesta st. because ford designed fiesta at the beginning to be a drivers cars, and this corsa was never designed to be drivers cars 10 years ago,.,,,
There will be piston 4 problems within a year all theyve changed is the shape slight and gave the engine a better breather system and the exhaust off the old clubsport model interior is slightly different on the dash front and if you go for the performance pack you no longer get bilstien shocks it koni in this model theyve took the old car gave it new bumpers and bonnet new doors new sils new dash modified the breather and tweeked the map for emissions but underneath its exactly the same as the old one the gearbox is still shit the engine is still shit and people will still go back for warranty work and be fobbed off when they carnt be arsed to fix it and say its down to the driver
Asa Mitchell dont know why people assume all corsas have the piston 4 issue, in reality it is actually very rare, and mostly caused by people just driving the living shit out of them with no care, which, is gonna cause issues for any car! and yes the gearbox is abit chocolate, but again, maintanence is key, and putting quality fluids in a car helps. i love my corsa 1.6t and with 85k on the clock, and mapped to 220bhp 250lb/ft it hasnt ever let me down or had an issue. i agree they havent changed it much, and cant say i prefer it to the last model. but oh well, not everyone gonna like the same things
someone explain to me how a car that goes half a seconds slower doesn't have as many gadgets and doesn't look as nice is a better car than the overall better VXR?
Tom Forrest Because you'll buy the VXR or the ST based generally on the way it drives and you're going to want the most fun, balanced, engaging drive which is the ST. Looks don't come into it because everybody has different taste.
Billy Johnson That can be also said about the way it drives so it's not a valid argument as this video doesn't really give much details about it. I bet that on the road and track the Corsa is faster than the ST. And how do you know which is more fun, did you drive them both? I wouldn't make an opinion on someone else's personal preferences.
+Imran Mohammed, your talking about a diesel, there not that fun to drive and sound horrible as well. Diesel Engine cars sound like Lorries or Tractors.
£20k+ for a Vauxhall Corsa with cheap hard plastic dash? HAHAHA, they have one of the worst depreciation rate, hence why the majority of VXR drivers I see tend to be on the "Chavvy" side.
botchok5 Actually modern Vauxhalls (especially VXR models) are experimenting with different materials such as mentioned "full Leather" and various others not just plastic otherwise he would have mentioned it.
botchok5 1) The Corsa DOES NOT have a cheap hard plastic dash 2) If you think the VXR's interior quality is not good enough to justify its price, there are way cheaper Corsas out there for you to buy. And anyway, it's hard to imagine that people who are in the market for a hot hatch like this will give one single fuck about how soft the plastics in the cabin are.
***** Errrrrr, £20k is hovering towards better built German hot hatches. So, no thank you. I'm not in the market for a Vauxhall VXR. They are one of the 'Chaviest' cars I've ever encountered in my life, even without aftermarket bodykits. And looking at the straight defensive fanboys swearing replies. Again, proves my point about this car's 'target' market...Chavs. Yes, I guess you're right, it is hard hard to imagine people who are in the market for hot hatches like this and not care about soft touch plastics. The Vauxhall Corsa's dash is screaming 'tacky' all over it. So the term 'quality' and 'depreciation' does not apply to their target market. Frankly because they don't know what it means. Hence why Corsa's have the worst depreciation on the market. I'll never touch a Vauxhall. I'm perfectly happy with my MK7 Golf GTI, thank you very much.
botchok5 Owww I get it, you are a just another VW troll! That explains a lot. Can I give you some advice? Stop hating Vauxhalls and start to love VWs instead. It would transform you from a VW troll spoiling the fun of the Vauxhall fans into a Volkswagen LOVER helping to make the world a better place! And Jesus, please stop insulting Vauxhall owners. Chosing what make of car to buy is a matter of opinion, isn't it? Not everyone cares about depreciation, which is largely defined by brand image anyway (rather than by 'quality'). Finally, one more question: did you mention GERMAN hot hatches as opposed to the Corsa VXR? In case you didn't know: most Vauxhalls are actually rebadged Opels, and as such they are as German as it gets. Not only has this Corsa been developed in Germany, it is built there as well!!!! (at the Eisenach plant).
Just like all the other "limited edition" corsa's out there 😂 does it come with a baseball cap and some track suit bottoms to complete the Corsa look ? 🙈😂
That was THE worst review. Albeit I have to agree with the negativity with the new Corsa, as I believe the exterior is all wrong and using the last gen engine was a bad idea. When designing the Corsa, they should of taking their bigger brother as an example to look up to: The Astra VXR. The Astra is a beast and people will stop and stare and know what it can achieve and can appreciate everything about it: the looks, the interior and the performance, but with this Corsa, you just think why have they bothered? I don't know if its me, but I feel even you when compare the VXR's looks to the Fiesta ST and the 208 GTI they are all similar, in that they are so dull to look at and they're not HOT Hatches at all, but rather a 'higher-spec model'. The Clio RS is the most aggressive looking car of all the hot hatches, but it suffers with poor interior and flappy gearbox, which is a shame.. Why can't the Manufacturers all make hot hatches, without having to sacrifice something major!? I will add this in my rant on current generation of hot-hatches; the VW Polo, Skoda Fabia VRS and the Ibiza Cupra, should be avoided, ZERO character, that DSG box kills off Hot-Hatches altogether, so these should not be ever compared to the others. In a Positive note if I was to pick a hot-hatch it would have to be the Peugeot 208 GTI 30th Anniversary edition: 0-60mph in 6.2secs using the 1.6thp engine producing 200hp and can achieve 52mpg!!! Sorry Vauxhall, but this car will cost you your place.
Alex Carr yes the review was poor, he was dull and didnt cover much at all. i dont really see how using the last engine was such a bad idea? i mean granted, its about 7 years old so is due an update, but they are not a bad engine. astra vxr a beast?! not too sure, it has a lot of torque steer which may make it seem a handful, but doesnt actually mean its any quicker for it. i mean yea it has capability to be an animal, but then its a bigger car with a 2.0T engine, never gonna get that standard in any corsa, its unneccessary. and a corsa can be monstrous too, with some money spent. to comment on looks is difficult as itspersonal preference. i for one wouldnt buy an astra vxr based on the interior, i find the 'cockpit' bland. would rather spend a bit more money and get an audi S3. but again, personal preference. i dont think this corsa will be as sought after as the last unless new owners give its drivability and pleasure some real high praise. i guess time will tell
Can accelerate as fast as it depreciates!
Very handy now if you want to pick up a quick little hot hatch
In terms of MPG I love my punto 1.4T. It's quick with a 0-62 of around 8.2 seconds but it can still achieve up to 46MPG on long distance drives, city I get about 30MPG and that is giving it full throttle about 6/10 times its driven. Doesn't look as good as the old one. Agreed. I think it's the front mainly.
It's nice, but what's the line all about on the bonnet?
It's horrible, would you not be able to take it off?
It's for the turbo to breath . Unless the intercooler is front mount . It needs a vent or scoop
You can buy a performance pack for a golf gti mk7 for just under a grand and Vauxhall want over 2k for a similar package for a corsa. Haha is just me that things that's an absolute joke?
Whats with the color grading? It's a car review not a drama series
😂
Watch Vauxhall's new Corsa VXR make its play for hot hatch supremacy...@vauxhall#vauxhall
Wow these cars are getting really expensive nearly 20k
You could have a leon cupra 280 for that price i know what id have
gamertanafc Dunno how you got that many likes when you are completely wrong, leon cupra(standrad with 260hp) costs 26k. 280 one costs 2.5k more.
Obviously i meant a used one with really low mileage
gamertanafc well then technically its not going to be as reliable if its got "really low mileage" and will sell for less! Anyway who wants to say they drive a Seat?
Why wont it be as reliable? Unless all the cars you purchase have to be brand new a couple thousand on the clock wont do any harm.

My point is these smaller hot hatches are getting very close to the golf gti/foxus st/astra vxr etc price range
True i did say technically because the engine would be slightly worn though you would not realise at first you would realise it over time
@gamertanafc a Leon cupra 280 is more like 30k
they are 18s on the car you are reviewing .
They did say, they were on about what it comes with standard
Need this engine in barina rs in Aus
nice moustache vauxhall...

Old corsa exterior looked a lot better
V to the X to the R...
Car weights 1200 kg , 154 kW .. Doesn't need brembos to stop
The best small hot hatch is still a Fiesta ST, but quite a good effort

24mpg for a corsa, that is poor. The other problem vxr have is character. Stop trying to out doo main rivals
this cars problem is in year 2006 fiat Punto derived chassis and design, look at front small triangle windows, it is same for 10 years, and even fiat punto has the same, this car never can be a hit, because it is wrong from the beginning, i dont care what the gadgets they add the car(limited slip diff etc.), it can never beat a fiesta st. because ford designed fiesta at the beginning to be a drivers cars, and this corsa was never designed to be drivers cars 10 years ago,.,,,

£20,500 for a corsa............ Seems steep.
Outside Its looks exactly like the old one
No it doesnt
What are you on?
someone explain to me how a car that goes half a seconds slower doesn't have as many gadgets and doesn't look as nice is a better car than the overall better VXR?

Come on every VXR has been better than any ford rival and the VXRs destroy Fords on the track even an ST
Tom Forrest lol you are delusional.
The fiesta st is faster than the vxr dunno wtf ur talking about😂
Lol wut my c250 cdi does 38mpg when driven fast
Don't compare a diesel engine with a petrol one
+Imran Mohammed, your talking about a diesel, there not that fun to drive and sound horrible as well. Diesel Engine cars sound like Lorries or Tractors.
Pumaspeed stage 3 FiST over this abomination anyday.
all these hot hatch look a but juvenile i find
That's the point...
discount Chris Harris
24mpg! Super cars do better than that
It looks horrific, no improvement whatsoever on the old model. Shit engine, shit mpg. Get better better fuel economy from my golf R.
MPG figures are to be used as a guide only when comparing cars, nobody actually believes that they can achieve that number.
The old one was most beautiful!!! This is ugly...
