Thanks Rory that was a great video. I learned to drive and passed my test in a '09 Corsa, it did have extremely hard seats, but it was nice and stable so I've got a soft spot for them! I also dated a girl who had an old '00 Corsa, she didn't actually use the brakes unless she had to come to a complete stop, which... always made you feel alive.

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don't find the seats to be any different than in other cars, cheaper or more expensive, newer or older. I actually think they're really comfortable, especially with the great side support.

The Nova was my first car, and I passed my driving test in that magnificent machine! I think mine was a 1985 model. The car was older than me! I think the Nova was notoriously easy to steal, you didn't need keys, a screwdriver in the ignition barrel would do the trick unfortunately! Mine was stolen by joy riders 3 times during my ownership, somehow it always found its way home to me! 🤣 Brought back many memories watching this! Thanks for the nostalgia!

    Brilliant video.
My Corsa anecdote is that a friend had a Corsa B in ~1991 and we went for a spirited drive. On a rural road he hit a patch of muck and the thing understeered heavily towards the verge. He caught it, just, but there was no power steering and he couldn't get the lock off, so it snapped into oversteer the other way. He caught that, just, but the steering was still very heavy so it oversteered back and as he caught it again, the tyres caught the road slightly, making the car judder. It came back round and I thought "next time it's going to roll". As it swung, just before the end of the arc I grabbed the handbrake and yanked it on, making the car do a 180. As it completed the 180 I shouted "BRAKE" and my mate hit the brakes hard and it skidded to a stop in a straight line, still on the road. No damage, no problem. And breathe....

Vauxhall-Opel are right to celebrate 40 years. Also, I've noticed that for the last few years, the last couple of generations of Corsa have really become popular with young drivers, like more than before, and I reckon this is because they look bloody great. Like baby musclecars with snazzy interiors, sharp alloys, body kits, go-faster stripes. That's how it should be done! They look amazing! It's quite a shame that the current model is kind of grown up with 5 doors. It think that's a mistake, because the kids like a 3 door - it's sportier, and maybe a gap to be filled?? The tartan socks with 80s Vauxhall logo are cool and hilarious though. Cars should be fun, and car owners have more if a sense of humour than car companies think. Well done is all I can say. The crease down the bonnet is a big GM trait that fortunately has been carried over to the new PSA models, and the side bulges go back to the Vauxhalls from the early 1900s.

We lived there from 1980-84, and the Corsa will always have a special place in my heart. It’s characteristics, styles, it’s looks 😏and even the way it drives. I got my license on a 08 or 09 Corsa. My mom has an 05 Astra. At the time both felt quite similar aside from seating position with the Corsa being a little bit less comfortable but I oddly liked the Corsa, I wasn't a fan of the Astra at the time although it's grown on me over the past 6 years since I legally became a driver.
I'm a big fan of the electric Corsa but I think it's a little bit too complex for what the line is meant for.
The driving assist stuff is overkill unless you're on the road all day which let's be honest is a stretch for the ICE version, the digital cluster display doesn't look good with the round plastic frame, the rear window could be a little bit bigger negating the need for a rear camera, the rear door frames are too bulky and makes entering the already cramped rear cabin section worse, and the electric finger brake button kills the fun. Some of these things could be fixed for cheap or even make the car cheaper by a few euros but it would make it better.

The Corsa B is being unfairly judged by history, in my view. I lived in Australia at the time, and owned an SB Holden Barina, which was a rebadged Corsa B. Admittedly we got bigger engines and a better ride/roadholding combination compared to the Europe, but compared to the Suzuki-based Barina that preceded it, the SB Barina felt much sturdier with big car road manners and refinement. I've grown up to BMWs now, but I still miss my little Barina.

Im driving a corsa b for now a whole year and its my first car. And compared to other small cars in the price range i love it. Its for some reason really fast it can do 150kmh easily and if you push it a little harder even 170-180kmh is possible which to me is insane that such a small an ,,cheap‘‘ car can do that. I told my father that i love it and if he is able to mantain the car i would still drive it even for the next 2-3 years. Sadly the car has almost 200.000 kilometers now and my father is kinda scared that one day the car might not start again and i would be late for work. He is looking to buy me a new car for that reason but till that day comes im driving the corsa b :)

For me, I genuinely like the new Corsa and it’s probably better built than the Fiesta but I would opt for the Fiesta, countless people online and on reviews have complained about ongoing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto issues in all current gen Stellantis products which is a shame.

Only got a little way in before having to comment, has any research even been done here at all? The Nova SR had a 1.3 and the a 1.4 72bhp engine. But power was lower in those days purely because engines didn’t rev as high, still had good torque.
