      Another service is "sudety" with an awesome loco that looks weird but the horn sounds awesome.

Like The EN57al the modded one, looks like it’s a completely modern train. I have took it to Białograd at the Baltic Sea. I like the ac motors. The EP07s are also interesting, with those nice 70s carriages where you can slide the windows down completely. In the UK, the only window you can slide down is on the Class 43 Intercity 125s which have sliding windows on the doors, sadly most of the doors have been modded and the units with the Mk3 carriages are about to get withdrawn

I believe this will leave only Koleje Mazowieckie and SKM Trójmiasto with the type, the latter of which removed the washrooms entirely during a recent renovation instead of installing vacuum toilets. Koleje Śląskie also still has the modernised version. Wouldn't surprise me if SKPL (which currently runs an all-diesel fleet, even on electrified lines) tries to purchase a few modernised ones. There is also a plan to completely electrify the entire central and southeast corners of the country (only a few single-track lines here and there remain diesel-hauled).

    A very nice video :) I live in Warsaw and take these trains whenever I need to go to Łódź. Without doubt, the fleet overhaul of the Polish railways, not just the Intercity but also the regional companies, while taking time, has brought some really good results. So, we either have very old trains (in minority by now), or quite new ones. Unfortunately, the track works are very slow, so it will be another while before we hit 250km/h anywhere, and 300 km/h if ever. Concerning the station in Łodź, it's a beautiful building for sure and a great reconstruction but did you notice how empty it was? It usually is. maybe it's the impression of space. The old station somehow seemed to have more traffic, crowd and life. But there seems to be an issue here. As the whole district lost its vibrancy following the station reconstruction. Maybe the tunnel that you mention will change that, but how?

    • @piotrekp5471
      @piotrekp5471 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tunnel will link to other stations and there will be added 2 more stations to the tunnel turning it into a metro/train hybrid. Since already you can go for free by train if you have a month pass on the Łódź stations. Also there are only 2 tram lines going to the station if they would overhaul it would also improve the situation

    The Łódź Fabryczna station has always puzzled me. You can tell from its design that it was meant to accommodate large volumes of crowds. It's got wide corridors to fit many people going both ways at the same time, escalators to expedite descent into and ascent from platforms and a loop around the platforms so that passengers don't have to step down and go back up via the platforms if they want to reach the opposite side of the station, and the front entrance has like six doors, not to mention the enormous area in front of the ticket booths which was clearly designed to fit a large queue - it's got like 10 ticket offices and it wouldn't take a lot of time to deploy these poles with tape to form a neat queue. The only thing that's missing are the crowds. There are none there. Actually, there's absolutely nobody there save for the security guards. The place is completely deserted to the point where it's almost eerie and feels like something's not right, like there's something missing. It's so quiet that if someone sneezes or drops their phone on the far end of the station, everybody inside can hear it as it echoes through the building (and boy, is it a long echo). And as for the ten ticket booths - only one is ever open, and there is no queue. It'd make sense to build a station like it if Łódź was a major artery in the Polish railway network, but it's not. You could see on the departures board that most of the trains leaving were regional and suburban trains by Polregio, not long-distance, high-speed trains with tons of passengers the station was clearly meant for. So the question I've been pondering since I first stepped foot in there is - why? Why build a station so enormous it's probably the size (or perhaps even bigger than) of Warsaw Central in the middle of a city with a declining population, lack of tourist attractions and generally in the middle of nowhere? Did PKP have something grand planned but failed and we're now left with dreams of what could've been in the form of a station? Or maybe they're still working on something and we will live to see the station bustling with life? Did the designers perhaps swap the files on their computer and replaced Warsaw West with Łódź Fabryczna and vice-versa? That would seem like a fair explanation as the former sees tons of passengers daily yet is so small you'd be forgiven to miss the entrance. The single-door entrance that leads to a a building with three ticket booths where hundreds sit cramped, waiting for their long-distance, high-capacity trains to arrive. It's just so bizarre to me.

    • @SuperalbsTravels
      @SuperalbsTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks a little like King's Cross, the station, although demolishing the old station and then rebuilding something that looks exactly the same seems a bit of a funny approach to conservation.

    I really like PESA Design, but one thing which really annoys me in those PESA trains is how badly sound-insulated they are. You can hear so many noises coming from machinery, chassis and engine (inverter in particular). Stadler trains are way more silent inside, but uglier...
    Also built quality is on the Stadler side. Please, let's not compare brand new sets. Let's compare them after 5-10 years of service.

    I have to say the wording of the review felt like an undisclosed and non objective PKP funded trip. As seats that looked uncomfortable were apparently fine despite the lack of cushioning and food untried was twice mentioned as appetising and good value. I have to say the interiors looked cheap

    • @SuperalbsTravels
      @SuperalbsTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Interesting you say the seats 'look' uncomfortable! Perhaps best to actually use them before passing judgement.
      I have travelled on PKP InterCity plenty of times, and so have a great idea of what their food offering is.
