Good looks will help somewhat. Think Ashton Kutcher. After 8 months of modeling he decided to audition for that 70s show and got booked on the spot. Really lucky guy.
Good looks help if you’re auditioning for someone they want for good looks. But remember, everyone’s definition of beauty is different and not all casting directors are the same
To a certain extent, attractiveness does matter since the audience wants to look at something that is very pleasing. However, certain roles require actors to look a certain way that doesn't have to do with their attractiveness level.

Hi, first of all, I'd like to say that I love your videos and advice. I plan on going to acting classes/school for beginners or even using your master class. However, that might be a long time from now! Is there ANYTHING I could do to improve my acting before I go to classes? Maybe there's an exercise or a practice that'd allow me to be more expressive or allow me to feel the emotion on the script on command? Please, I don't want to be a laughing stock when I get there because I have no experience with acting WHAT SO EVER ( I didn't even play 'pretend' when I was little ). I know that after reading that last sentence, you probably think that I'm not fit to be acting if I couldn't even play 'pretend' (or you may not). But, I've been bitten with the 'show business bug' and I can't shake it! Please, if there's anything that you could recommend, I'll appreciate it...thanks in advance .

Remember, everyone there is trying to achieve the same thing, and everyone who is experienced there has went through what you are going through. Anyone who laughs at you is just someone who has something going on with themselves and takes it out on others, or they're just jealous. I hope you follow your dreams man, even if acting doesn't / didn't work out for you.

I’m glad I’ve been able to help :) in terms of resumes and what you’ll need, there’s a few points to this. You’ve probably heard this analogy before, but we are all dealt a different hand in life and we get to choose how we play that hand. The nice thing is, our hands are always changing, so the hand we have now won’t be the same hand we have next year, our goal is to play with what we have when we have it. In terms of your resume, at this point you already know you don’t have anything to put on it, so put it on hold for now. When you do get a resume, you will want it to look professional and well put together, but you’ll only need it when you have things to fill it up with. Does having a good resume help? Sure, but if you don’t have one starting out, it’s not the end of the world. For the agent, you don’t need one in the beginning if you don’t want too, but if you plan to pursue acting professionally, you will at some point want to get an agent. An agent has more opportunities to allow you to audition for bigger roles. Doesn’t mean you will always book them, but if we briefly simplify acting into a mathematic perspective we realize that the more we can audition, the better chance we have at potentially getting booked, just by the number. If you audition for 10 projects or 100 projects, the 100 projects will give you a better potential average of getting booked. Again it’s not guaranteed, but it can be a better chance. Right now if you don’t want an agent it’s okay, you can then self submit for projects, which also isn’t bad. Keep working hard! Hope this helps ya. Cheers!
It all depends on the role being cast for. Every celebrity you see today on a movie or tv show is represented through makeup, camera angles, lighting, script assistance, etc. The show runners can do a lot to adjust a persons look. This is why you will sometimes here people say “they looked different in person.” What really matters is if they think you are the right fit for the part. Hope that helps 👍🏼

Many actors will have different starting points and journeys. 23 is neither too old or young. In a way you have a bigger options of roles to audition for while in your 20’s because you may represent a lot of different age ranges. Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, and Steve Carrel didn’t get their big breaks early on, it took them time, but no matter when/where you start it will take time.

Yes....it does. I know brilliant actors who dont do big films. And there very bad actors with good looks who play big films. If you dont have X factor. It doesnt matter hoe good you act.
It all depends on what is being cast for. If they are looking to cast someone who looks like a heart throb, than that is what casting is looking for, if they are looking to cast someone who would typically not look like a heart throb, than that would be what they are casting for. Don’t really know what your saying, but in order to be cast for something, it all depends on the project and what is being cast for. Many actors make too many excuses for why they can’t or won’t book. Is it true that some roles are picked simply for someone’s looks? Yes, because that is what casting may be looking for on a particular project. Does this mean the project will be great? No. Should casting be decided this way? No. But to say all casting for every project does this, is wrong. What really matters is if it fit the character/storyline that is being cast for. The mistake that many actors fall into, is believing that it all comes downs to purely looks. There are many shows/movies that have actors which Hollywood has not categorized on the Chris Hemsworth level (in terms of Hollywood looks). Jackie Chan, Adam Sandler, Joe Pesci, etc. are not typically placed in the same box as Brad Pitt, yet they’ve still had fantastic careers for themselves, which many people would LOVE to have. It all depends on what is being cast for and if the casting director, director, and producers think you are a right fit for that part.
It all depends on what casting and the production are looking for. If they want people who look like models for a scene, than that’d be one look they’re searching for, but if they wanted someone to play the stereotypical nerdy type, than they would NOT want the model look. Each role requires a different looks. The role of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory wouldn’t have worked with Michael B. Jordan as Sheldon. His look simply wouldn’t match what the casting/production was looking for. It doesn’t mean he couldn’t have acted it well in his own way, but Michael B. Jordan would NOT have had the right look for Sheldon. Looks only matters for the role you are auditioning for. Do you look like the part you are auditioning for or not? Some roles want model looks, some want nerdy looks, some want older looks, some want younger looks, some want fit looks, some want everyday looks. Looks only matter in figuring out if you have the right look for the part being cast for. Of course you need the personality and the acting portion of it as well, but that’s a separate element to the puzzle (that also should be considered), but this video is explaining this one element to the whole puzzle. Hope that’s makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!
It seems like all these new actors are twinkies. A twinkie is someone who is buff (if a guy), shallow, a pretty boy, dumb, worldly, all the girls like and just plain talent-less. For girls or women the same goes... nothing like the classic Hollywood actors like James Dean or DeNero or Redford or Vanessa Redgrave. Liz Taylor... it just isn't the same, looks or talent or whatever else. I can barely watch new movies because they're so shallow and dumb and I hate the subjects and the way the film was written. Too much cursing and sex and dumb behavior compared to an older classic film. I personally think every actor nowadays isn't anything great to look at nor are they talented in any way, shape or form. Channing Tatum as an example... I don't see what every women and girl sees to be so great in him. Looks-wise he's got big ears, his teeth are funny and he has crossed eyes. Acting-wise he comes across as arrogant and snotty and fake to me. Women all love him and think he's all that but he just looks full of himself and a douchebag tool. Same goes for the cast of Twilight... twinkie shallow douche bag tools and stupid, brain dead girls who can't act. I am sorry but that is the way I see it and I'm not the only one and this goes for all areas of entertainment; not only acting. Music nowadays sucks, TV sucks and movies suck. They're all either brain dead shallow idiots with a stupid plot (if you'd call it a plot even) or they're a dumb supernatural film that I saw the same time over and over with different actors. Same story. I stick to old classic Hollywood or 80s and 90s and that's it.
I feel like hollywood is racist and white washes movies. Where would you see an asian as the main character, an a MAN not girl. Its all about blue eyes and blonde hair lets be honest.
JustAnAsianWithYT Plays Yeah bro it’s true, im asian myself and you never see it. There was a movie for asian where I forgot what it called vy jason bourne was the main character 😂
Most movies these days are like 50% black people now, asians are slowly becoming more common, only reason it's more common for white males to be in movies is because that's how the character is written, especially comic book movies.
Matt Yeah blacks are in alot of movies before asians, but thats good they’re slowly progressing into the industry, it needs to be equal, i think hollywood just makes money off the attractive white people or only use asians in fighting movies

It all depends on what is being cast for and if the casting director, director, and producers think you are a right fit for that part.
@@TheActorsAcademy , True! :^)
Edit: by the way, I have not watched the video yet, I'll watch later on list. :^)
I think looks matter but if ur funny, have a accent or different looking then its acceptable ex Seth Rogen, the girl from Pitch Perfect
Cheers!
@@TheActorsAcademy thanks for commenting ur right
It seems like all these new actors are twinkies.
Todays culture is sooooo soft he was afraid to flat out say it’s bc Zach isn’t BLACK! Lol
Noodlelover i mean lana conder is asian and she is quite famous
Most movies these days are like 50% black people now, asians are slowly becoming more common, only reason it's more common for white males to be in movies is because that's how the character is written, especially comic book movies.
Daya’s day Yeah but shes a girl, for some reason I dont see enough men
Matt Yeah blacks are in alot of movies before asians, but thats good they’re slowly progressing into the industry, it needs to be equal, i think hollywood just makes money off the attractive white people or only use asians in fighting movies
“Acting is subjective”
*guess I’m just always subjectively unattractive*
