Not bad acting-wise but I felt uninformed about what was happening. And your right about the mama thing. It was too much of a background thing. And not so much like she was trying to get her attention like I think she was.

She did good. I would say that something she can improve on is for when she's saying "Momma" multiple times, she can try and make each of those "Mommas" different in the way she says it. Just to add more coloring. Other than that it was pretty good.

To preface: I'm not an actor at all, i just like practicing these kinds of things because it's fun to do in my freetime :). For me, it's really difficult to cry, but I found that learning to control your facial expressions while yawning with my mouth closed, helps out a lot. Works best for characters that cry out of anger since the nostrils will flare.

To anyone who is struggling on acting or how to fake cry, let me tell you this.
i'm no actor, in fact i'm just 14. but i can say practice truly does make perfect.
I'm in a band, and when you're part of a band you have to learn stage presence, posture, and make sure to always smile. never look awkward. Now I've learned this over the years since I've always been quite musical and I've gotten the hang of being very confident on stage. And a good way i did that was standing in the middle of my room my back facing the mirror as i started my song. when i got to the middle of it i would turn around and finish the song, observe my expressions and see ways i could get better. And it worked i focused and learned over time to lose my RBF face on stage. Same with acting, when acting it can be difficult since you cant see what your doing with your face, you never know if your doing too much or maybe not enough. But when looking at a reflection and studying your face, taking time out of your day to have a conversation with yourself. creating monologue or re-sighting lines from a movie, tv show or favorite character. know that, that is practice. I've always loved the filming/music industry and i''ve been in many plays as well, i talk to myself quit a lot too which helps me put myself in my characters shoes so don't be shy to daydream as well, it expresses creativity. I can now cry on command. it takes a minute or two but it took nearly 2 years of practice. It wont happen immediately. if it does great, if it doesn't that's just a sign to keep trying! :)
    I hope this helped!

Another way is to not blink until you feel tears coming out, and then start scrunching up your face and breath heavily(like a person normally does when they cry) and you can get this teary effect and you can also try to think of some emotional stuff(for me it’s anime death scenes lol) to get tears to drip down your faces.

Another way to cry on command is, keeping your eyes open for a few seconds, and it’s okay to blink once in a while as your doing it, it’ll still work, and also give your tears a chance to drip down your face! Hope this helps!

A method that has really worked for me is to just relax the muscles in my face, it also feels more natural that way. Look at a certain spot, a certain spot in my room, or even looking into someone’s eyes. Just staring for a bit and my eyes tear up, then you can start really living into the characters emotions and tears will drop eventually

I looove the monologue choice from the submission. An incredibly delicate moment from the show. The stage manager's line after Emily's monologue is crazy. I thought the simplicity and vulnerability of Wilder's writing really fit her well. I agree with a lot of the critiques that you gave her, but I truly thought it was well done.

Thank you so much for all of your help! I’m currently 13 years old, and since I’ll be 14 soon I thought it was too late to start. I have been mentally hurt all my life so I can handle tough and dramatic scenes, (and even better thanks to you) and make them realistic as I’m sort of letting out my inner pain. ☀️
You have helped me gain confidence, and motivation in acting. I have not been in any productions. I have only been in 2 school plays.. nothing much. But I always got the main role, so I guess even people in my school saw potential in me. 💖
Thank you once again thousands of times for your helpful tips, and this was just another perfect video that reached my ‘liked’ playlist :) ✨
Ly, Makayla!! Keep up the great work!! 🌙

I’m personally really good at fake crying, so it’s really interesting seeing how other people do it. ✨💕
I normally use strategy two, but sometimes I use other techniques.

The thing is when you cry you start to sniffle therefore making it even more real and convincing.

When I was a kid I remember watching "The Conjuring" and doing what the scared kids were doing in that movie. And because I love acting scared but can't cry on cue, I try to think of a way to cry easily until I discovered the "yawning strategy". I'm surprised you mentioned it here

I'm not an actor and have no idea why I'm watching this but I am a comedian and storyteller naturally, it's just how I live my life. Part of building a humorous character often requires that I do very obviously fake crying, but sometimes what's really weird is it makes me actually start crying for no reason. It's really embarrassing because once I start crying it's hard to stop so I was trying to look a certain kind of odd and just ended up being plain weird. Yayyyyyyy

Watching your video I think I realized my own style of having the tears to come out, although it's not really overflowing but it's there. Building up the dialogue going to that scene made me feel the emotions. I tried doing a monologue where I talked about a scenario first that led to the sad moment and baam, I could feel my body being sad and the tears welling in my eyes. Although I have to make a crying face because it's usually how I cry, I can see the tears forming and feeling the emotions. I just have to make them fall the next time though haha. Thank you so much!!!!

I'm going to start my acting career very soon,I already found the agency and working on my resume but I was struggling to cry on cue. Thanks to your video I've finally nailed it! With the help of number 3 I cried rivers over someone who I've never actually met... Can't say it felt good lol but it worked so I'm really glad. I've been trying to learn how to cry on cue for like 3 years and had no result even though I'm really emotional and I can cry alot cos of the smallest a little bit wholsesome/sad moment in the movie/book/comic that lasted for 2-3 seconds but yet crying on cue was aleays hard for me. I tried method 4 before but also tried to awake the emotion of sadness inside of me and all it did is make me terribly sad without a single tear being dropped.
You're amazing! Totally earned a sunscription(I just did it :p).

Hi Makayla! great video as always:)
I was wondering if there’s any acting warmup you do every day or before the audition?
Right now I just do articulation exercise every morning but I was wondering if there’s anything else I can do before I go to work or before I go to sleep.
