- This video will show how we replaced a broken 3rd brake light (roof light) on a 2017 a Toyota Tacoma. This will work for all 3rd gen Tacomas as long as they are the 4 door model.
You will need to partially remove the headliner in order to gain access to the two 10mm nuts holding in the light, which we show as well.
Hope this helps some of you!

Hey I would like to thank you guys for the video the dealer wanted $900.00 just for the labor it took me two hours by myself to do it thanks again
No problem bro!! Glad to help! and geez $900 ?!? yikes. sounds about right tho for dealerships haha
I found it easier to just disassemble the entire truck. Also taking out the transmission and engine internal parts was a big time saver.
haha!! basically
Man that made me laugh in the beginning
How many rowdys does it take to change a light bulb? Thanks for the video and close ups
HAHA shooot like 3 or 4 probably hahahah!!
Good job
Thanks! hope it helps
I put clear silicone in the end of the socket to hold the nut in. That part is the worst lol
Ha nice! Get er done!
Just to change one part is hassle, just light the headlights.
where can I buy the light
dealership, auto parts store, or online ! just make sure it is the same year and model, i think some of the 2 doors have a slightly different shape
So you guys just replaced the light bulb?
no we actually replaced the whole light with the housing. The housing itself broke so the whole light needed to be replaced. replacing just the bulb is much easier
@@therowdyzdo you happen to have the oem part number for the housing?
@@ivan199120 I believe it is OEM 81570=04051 ... if you go to a dealership they can order it for you but you may find a better price online
@@therowdyz that’s what I have just wanted to confirm, thank you so much for such a quick reply!
glad to help! @@ivan199120
Couldn't you just change out the bulbs?
you could if it was the bulb that was out, but in this case it was housing that was broken
I have this same exact issue. What a gigantic pain in the ass.
yeah it is a bit of an ordeal... but worth doing to save hundreds rather than paying a shop
Sup
what up noe!
This is not a one man job
no more like 2 or 3 buddys and a pack of beer type job haha!
