Thousands of years later, after the destruction of the planet by Tarkin, both families would finally reconcile through the friendship formed between the Solo children (heirs to House Organa) and Raynar Thul (heir to House Thul) during their shared Jedi training at Luke's Academy

Never noticed that in the background of 2:48 that the Republic Trooper is gonna just whack that Sith Trooper with this gun, brilliant lol. Also, how badass were these troopers that they could go one-on-one against Sith. So sick!
These guys weren't Sith, they were acolytes or something like that, they were treated like soldiers who had connection with the force. If they had managed to survive long enough, they would have been trained to become a full-fledged sith for their merits. Therefore, the soldiers of the republic were able to engage in a fight with them and win it. Because he was just a guy sensitivity to force, he was on the side of the Sith faction, so he was given a lightsabre in his hand and was told to fight.
I remember when I first watched this back when it came out and I saw the troopers give the Sith hell and then my guy Jace charge Malgus and even withstand lightning this shows what starters really is battle wise. Seeing Satele appear was really amazing as well especially with how well she handle Malgus even though she lost her blade seeing her wreck Malgus with the force was worth it.
I remember watching with a friend and we both freaked out when she catches the lightsaber in her palm. After rewinding it like 7 times we noticed the subtle animation of Malagus' suprise too. Such a good time to be a SW fan back then
Not to mention it was further elaborated on in some book or other source that he was facing a punctured lung, multiple broken ribs, and was having trouble breathing after coming out of the rubble. Two Jedi encountered him afterwards and Malgus killed them both in his weakened state. All BEFORE he got any medical attention and received his respirator.
-"So... You were armed with rifles, plasma cannons and grenades and you had an elevated position over the sith, who were armed with lightsabers. What happened?" - "Well, we charged down the hill..." - "You charged down the hill?" - "Yes..." - "Instead of just blasting them to bits with your rifles, plasmacannons and grenades, you descided to charge down the hill and take on the sith, who were armed with lightsabers, in melee combat?" - "Yes, but..." - "You used a grenade as a melee weapon!" - "Yeah... " - "I blame myself for not being here when you started. I could have told you to fight from the high ground. We jedi know how to do that."
That's why this trailer is so great. In any Star Wars film lightsabers are going to take the spotlight but somehow in this one the commando is just the coolest character because he doesn't have a lightsaber and doesn't have the force
Blink and you miss it, there's a brief moment of shock when Satele catches Malgus' lightsaber with Force Absorb. It's the small stuff that really elevates these cinematics to legendary status.

I like the quiet resolve they gave Darth Malgus in this trailer. He doesn't say single word, and after he is hit by the trooper's blast, doesn't make single sound until the combined efforts of a powerful Jedi, an experienced soldier and several elements of surprise eventually overcome him. The very example of a strong silence.
Actually kind of incredible that both Satele and Malgus had failed romantic relationships. One is the Jedi Grand Master, the other one of the most powerful Sith Lords of the time, yet they both ended their relationships over perceived "threats" and "weaknesses" the relationship brought.
@@DeathbornGamer she dated the soldier and they had a son together. Their relationship eventually ended however. Malgus had a woman he loved, then killed because he saw her as a weakness and knew killing her would strengthen his connection with the dark side.
This trailer was the very reason that made me play SWTOR. First ever character a Commando. Inspired by Jace Malcom right here. This video really brings me back.
I get the feeling Malgus was more impressed toward Jace than annoyed. That look in his eyes when he looked over toward him looked like that of respect.
Honest to God bro, Malgus watched this nobody run through his boys like a defensive lineman on his way to the playoffs. THEN TANKS LIGHTNING. That's worth an invite to the dark side
This is definitely the most hopeful out of all the SWTOR cinematic trailers, especially since the use of "Anakin's Dark Deeds" at the end felt different when comparing it to how it was used at the end of the SWTOR "Deceived" cinematic trailer.
*Nothing* will ever be as badass as Jace Malcom charging Malgus head on, grenade in hand. My man pulled a "If I'm going down I'm taking you with me" on a Sith lord and lived to tell about it (granted, so did Malgus, but still).
Story Time: This game will always have a very special spot in my heart (no pun intended). I got my subscription in 2014 after I had heart surgery. I needed something to occupy myself, and take away some of the pain, while I was recouping. I remember having to place the pillows on my chair just right in order to feel comfortable and not experience more pain. But once I was playing, I forgot all about the pain (or maybe it was the oxycodone lol). But this game really was the thing that got me through a very hard time in my life. I remember first seeing someones custom armor on Drumond Kas, and just falling completely in love with everything about the game. It was Star Wars how I always imagined it. Thanks SWTOR.
The trailer finally shows what they're doing right now with the game. At first, Malcom used trooper commando combat style to fight trash mobs, then he switched to operative concealment to fight Malgus. Same as Satele, went from consular shadow to kill trash mobs then fight Malgus, to finish as telekinetic sage. Ah, and at the end Malcom switches to trooper vanguard lol.
I remember ripping a low-res copy of the three cinematics and putting it on my Nokia N73 waaaay back so I can watch it over and over again. Seeing this in hi-res brings me so much joy. Wow. Just wow. (Also, this is definitely a thousand times better than what we got with the sequel trilogy.)
10 years ago. To this day, my Shadow still uses Satele's double-saber. This just made that much of an impression. These are still gorgeous, so thanks for uploading them. There is something to be said for bringing the front back to these core worlds to give it more impact. Just have 2 landing zones on the planetary travel map, Alderaan and Alderaan Front (which only becomes visible and unlocked after the appropriate story step). The two flashpoints at the start of the Revan story felt brutal, trashing Korriban and Tython so that both Sith and Jedi see their own origin worlds in ruins. Yeah, new planets provide great flavor for storytelling, but it feels like flitting from place to place for glimpses while we've been skirting around the main issue.

I love how much of an absolute unit Darth Malgus is. He takes Satele’s onslaught head on and one handed never once putting two hands on his lightsaber until he goes to stab her. Also, I know it’s a retcon of the lore but there’s a reason Palpatine specifically wanted Vader to learn everything he could from records on Malgus, from his philosophy on using pain and anger to his one handed Djem-So fighting style. Creates a sort of loop where Malgus’ design was partly inspired by Vader and then he’s retconned to be how a recently crippled Vader learned to channel his anger and pain as well as relearn how to fight with his injuries and suit.

*Fun fact:* During the "Old Republic MMO" Era, there was in Alderaan a bloody Civil War between the noble families House Organa (backed by the Republic) and House Thul (backed by the Sith Empire). Thousands of years later, after the destruction of the planet by Tarkin, both families would finally reconcile through the friendship formed between the Solo children (heirs to House Organa) and Raynar Thul (heir to House Thul) during their shared Jedi training at Luke's Academy

@@wojtek561 acolyte is still a sith. They're called sith acolytes. Not every sith is a sith lord or even an apprentice, but they're still sith.

Seeing Satele appear was really amazing as well especially with how well she handle Malgus even though she lost her blade seeing her wreck Malgus with the force was worth it.

The fact that my man Malgus had a literal mountain dropped on him and essentially walked it off only needing a respirator after is insane
Not to mention it was further elaborated on in some book or other source that he was facing a punctured lung, multiple broken ribs, and was having trouble breathing after coming out of the rubble. That battle cry the troopers made as they attacked was incredible. Truly shows how badass troopers are.

Story Time:
This game will always have a very special spot in my heart (no pun intended).

I've played since beta and I like that you made that connection
I remember ripping a low-res copy of the three cinematics and putting it on my Nokia N73 waaaay back so I can watch it over and over again. Seeing this in hi-res brings me so much joy. Wow. Just wow.

This is back when Star Wars had a soul
Still holds up. Whoever wrote these SWTOR stories and did the cinematics should be doing movies.
