Even if they got people that love it to make it, Disney (Kathleen Kennedy to be exact) would still find a way to leave a trace of their trademark stupidity in the film. If you meant that the whole intellectual property should be owned by, managed by and expanded upon by somebody who actually cares about the stories, then I couldn't agree more.
I love the subtlety in the choreography. Revan is obviously holding back, purposely refusing to kill his former friend and confidant outright, but he needs to maintain control over a lapdog that has gone rabid. And Malak knows that his master knows him too well, and that fully giving into his hatred and jealousy would be a death sentence, so he is treading a fine line between fighting like a true Sith and a madman. Malak knew that he he was beaten, he probably knew it as soon as their sabers clashed, but he committed to it, realizing that giving into his fear and surrendering would only guarantee him a slow death, so he accepts his failure with dignity, Revan taking the opportunity to scar Malak in a way that he will have to wear his shame forever.

Revan gave Malak every chance to stop, but Malak kept coming forward. Malak ultimately forgot the reasons him and Revan were at war. Had Malak remembered he would still have his jaw.
I love how after losing his jaw Malak’s eyes turn bright yellow. Kinda like Anakin when he lost his limbs. Like the pain is pulling him closer to the dark side, a lesson every Sith master must teach to his apprentice. Nice attention to detail!
But when Anakin got his limbs cut off that significantly reduced the ways he could use the force. The most Palpatine would’ve done to Anakin was cut off a hand and Dooku already did that, that’s why he wasn’t too upset with Dooku after Geonosis, he was still pissed though
3:56 I love the small movements of what’s left of Malak’s mouth. You probably could have gotten away with just the throat light flashing as he spoke, but the fact that he still is using the same nerves and muscles to speak makes the wound feel much more realistic and visceral.
Yes indeed. My one and only small critique is that some of their movements seem a little janky. Like malak almost twitches like a zombie a few times. But other than that, this is amazing and very well done. The scenes cut together very well and the voice acting is damn good for being a fan made video. What I liked the most about this animation was how you portrayed Revan. How fast and decisive he reacted when Malak wanted to attack him and also the moment at the end, where he gave Malak a chance to stop before striking him.
Exactly what I liked the most as well. Revan usually never acted first, but reacted flawlessly to any hostility and scenario, be it duel or battle in space/land. He is a strategist first and foremost, and a flawless reactionist.

He shook his head because malak was also embarrassing himself and pathetic but yeah he only had to stop but he didn't so reven put him in place and gave him what he was asking for
This is enforced by the fact that Revan had already deactivated his lighsaber after striking Malak on the back. He considered the fight already over. But no, Malak just had to fųck around and find out I guess
He shakes his head because he realizes Malak only fully embraced the dark side (look at his eyes burning with hatred at 3:45) after being utterly defeated, embarrassed and mutilated. Malak's power comes from a place of self-pity and self-hatred.

Its literally just a five minute scene depicting a long established detail of KOTOR's backstory. Its a very good quality scene especially for a fan project but not much happended, characters stood around and there was a flashback to a fight we knew occured from the get go while the sith code is recited. All due respect to the creator but let's not oversell it here. @@assassinsknight that’s not the real reason Revan and Malak turned to the dark side though, we never got Kotor 3 so we don’t know. I don’t count swtor considering what it did to Revan and the exile
@@DefecTec we know why from KOTOR 1. Revan and Malak went to go fight the emperor after he was revealed to them. They struck out together and got force dominated. They came back as Sith Lords, with Revan being defeated by a Jedi strike force and getting shot at by Malak's cruiser, which knocked Revan out and got him captured. SWTOR was in line with the books for what happened to Revan, Lord Scourge, and the Exile btw.
@@AdmiralHalimesh Nope.. What we know from KotOR 1 & 2 is that while he was in Malachor V, Revan found out about the existence of the True Sith, hiding and waiting deep in the Uncharted Territories. During the Mandalorian Wars he secretly looked for the Star Forge - an ancient weapon of the Rakatan empire that he used to amass a fleet of unimaginable strength to challenge the Republic. Kreia specifically says that he never actually "fell" to the Dark Side - he only used it as a tool and his purpose was to prepare the Republic for the incoming war with the True Sith. In fact, he didn't care if he would conquer the Republic or be defeated - the important thing for him was that a victor would emerge united and stronger than ever! That is why, as teased in this trailer, he always spared key strategic targets from ruin and never indulged in senseless destruction as Malak did! After Malak attacked his cruiser and Revan was captured by the Jedi, his memory was wiped and his plan was forgotten and effectively ruined, as the war dragged on for much longer and resulted in a lot of unnecessary casualties, straining both sides.. Revan didn't regain his memories until after the events of KotOR 1, at which point he ventured alone in the Uncharted Territories for reasons unknown, even leaving his lightsaber behind as he would not need it anymore. Before leaving, he entrusted Canderous with rebuilding the Mandalorians to their former glory as the new Mandalore and building an army that would aid the Republic when the time comes. Then in KotOR 2, the whole point of T3-M4 coming back from the Uncharted Territories with the Ebon Hawk was for him to get the Exile and lead him to Revan! All of the events you mentioned are retcons made by the MMO and I will never acknowledge any of them until I breathe! The books were also written as tie-ins to the MMO, not to the original games, so of course they would try to be in line with the retconned continuity!
The moment when Revan removed Malak’s jaw… shivers! Man that is incredible! That shows the brutality of lightsaber combat and how dangerous that type of weapon is. Love all about this short!
Amazing work, my friend. Here's some details I noticed: 1. The hilt for Revan's lightsaber looks the same as the Fallen Revan lightsaber from SWTOR. I noticed it during the bladelock moment at the 2:08 mark. Sorry I couldn't put the actual timestamp. 2. Revan is fighting Malak with only one lightsaber instead of his iconic dual-blade style, implying he wasn't taking Malak that seriously. The fact that Revan's movements seem casual and almost relaxed support this perspective. 3. Had Malak stayed down after the glancing strike to his back, he wouldn't have lost his jaw. 4. When the Admiral pointed out Revan's orders weren't to bomb Telos, Malak ignored them. This actually happened during the Jedi Civil War, which proves to me you did your research. 5. When the battle between Revan and Malak begins, Revan's opening move was to beat Malak with the Force and not with his lightsaber. According to a statement by Drew Karpyshyn, one of the writers for KOTOR, in terms of lightsaber combat Malak is actually Revan's superior. This means Revan attacked Malak with the Force first because he didn't want to fight on Malak's terms. All in all, these small details are what made this video enjoyable. I hope to see more of such dedication in the future. Bye! Edit: Looks like TH-cam automatically put the timestamp for me. Thanks man. 2nd Edit: Another small detail I just realized. Since Malak bombed Telos after his duel with Revan, that could have been his way of getting back at Revan for cutting off his jaw.
Drew Karpyshyn was paid by BioWare to write the worst novel ever, so he could close the time gap between KOTOR 2 and SWTOR. That was his only job and he failed at it. He has no clue about who's a better duelist and such. Revan was a General for a reason, Malak wasn't. Despite both of them turning to the Dark side, they were still friends, Revan held back, but he could've easily kill Malak on the spot.
@@danieljankowski1411 I mean just cause he has written good books doesn't mean he can't write a less than good one. >Revan's movement seem casual and almost relaxed >he wasn't taking Malak that seriously and >in terms of lightsaber combat Malak is actually Revan's superior Excuse me, I don't follow.
This was absolutely perfect, I especially loved the last little exchange before Revan took Malak’s jaw. He gave him the opportunity to walk way mostly unharmed and Malak pushed his luck with a really aggressive offense, leaving him open for revan to counter and show why he was the dark lord. I also love how even though malak is clearly weaker, he’s still able to contend with Revan and proves how dangerous he would become, Revan had to fight for that victory , but once he had it, it was game over
Indeed Revan was never a powerhouse but still was a great fighter, just like Malak is his exact opposite by not being a genius but was still far from being stupid. He still achieved things Revan didn’t and sadly doesnt get enough credit for his character.
Revan's power never came from his physical feats but it was a combination of his intelligence, being a master tactician, and through his mastery of the Force itself. His power of the Force at the time was beyond anything anyone could comprehend and it's why both Sith and even the Jedi feared him regardless of which side he was on at the time. It's why he's my all time favorite character in Star Wars, especially after he was redeemed by killing Malak and he had mastery of both light and dark side powers. By all intents and purposes Revan could easily be considered the strongest grey Jedi in all of Star Wars canon (if he ever does become canon that is 😭)
@@wzero07 wait what, he did?! I know they they've been heavily hinting at Old Republic stuff and slowly making things canon little by little and I know about the Revan squadron of Sith Troopers in Rise of Skywalker, but when I say canonize I mean hard canonizing him in a movie or show
I would agree with you, except that Malak had no chance against Revan in this fight as he was taking a poor one-handed fighting style against Revan's two-handed grip, which gives them better defensive ability and control. A one-handed grip is only advantageous when you are actually using the off-hand for something: a second weapon, a shield, using the force to manipulate the environment (see Dooku vs Yoda in AOTC), force lightning, etc.

Darth Malak decided to attack Him head-on, which was foolish...Darth Revan was always flawless with countering, since He was a superb strategist, who reacted to situations with speedy analysis and situation awareness. Darth Malak was simply outclassed at this point in time, and a lesson in loss and humility was given. At the later point of betrayal , He did used the moment of weakness of Darth Revan to His advantage. The old lesson paid out for Darth Malak in the end...or did it, in the end? KotOR was awesome!
This is incredible. I love the fight choreography, textures, and voice acting, all. This feels absolutely canonical, down to the partial cybernetics shown before the full mask was built. 2:44 To be honest, it seems Malak was going to win a fair fight against his master. But like Darth Sidious against Yoda, Revan had to use the Force, like a cheat move, to gain an advantage.
@@maksymilianziele28 That... is... what saber duels are all about. You need to manipulate the force to use them. That's why Palpatine and Yoda are the best duelists in their time. They're the best force users.
I love this attention to detail Unreal Cinema put in. Malak was a Form II Makashi user, so he typically dueled using his right hand only. Like Count Dooku, for example. I love it. Definitely up there as one of my favorite Star Wars cinematics.
@@Ray-yv7kn Right hand. You weren’t supposed to use it with your left hand or both hands. Just the right. It was a very elegant style meant just for dueling. Users of the form were very powerful and deadly in fights.
You can duel left-handed, you know. Makashi favors one-handed deftness, not necessarily the right specifically. Star Wars' answer to foil and epee fencing, in a way.
I very much appreciate how, even using Makashi, Malak's fighting style is pure raw strength. Revan was known for having a near-perfect balance between strength, agility, force sensitivity, and intelligence, and you can really see that juxtaposition here. Revan is on the defensive for most of this fight, dodging, blocking, and incorporating the Force more than Malak. He wears Malak out until he sees the opening he needs to end the fight. Malak can out-muscle Revan, but Revan will always outsmart Malak.
Thats what I love so much about Revans story and era. Through war the best friends had slowly dipped into the dark side to fight hordes of Mandolorians. When they fought the Sith Emperor sure they fully fell into the darkside but Revan broke around and decided to go to war with the whole Republic to unite the entire galaxy. Malak forgot his purpose and was jealous.
This is near perfect to what I imagined malak losing his jaw was like. The voice acting, the models, the sound effects and the overall fight are incredible. There is a bit of jank like with malak not knowing what to do with his arm but revans fighting style is spot on. And I especially like how it isn't just a curb stomp like many revan fans insist it was. Revan having to work for the victory adds to how threatening malak will be in the full series and I love it. You all did such a great job with this and I'm super excited to see what's next.
@@NewbieGeek123 while there probably was a power gap between revan and malak considering they've been through near the exact same experiences and have both trained with eachother then the gap wouldn't be big enough for revan to be capable of toying with him. @@and8091 have you played Kotor or Kotor 2? If not, play them and then ignore anything SWOTOR or the novel's did, cause they're full of shit and came after the true canon of the character. Revan started out as one of the most promising Jedi Knights of his generation, he picked everything up, be it lightsaber combat or the force, like he was a natural. He directly disobeyed the whole Jedi order and every master he ever had bar 1, not for his own power, but because he saw that the Jedi could help the general public on the horrors that were the Mandalorian wars. During the Mandalorian wars, he discovered the star maps whoch eventually led him to the star forge, but also the infinite empire who brainwashed him to prepare the republic for their invasion by turning him to the sith. Despite Valkorian being infinitely more powerful than Revan, Revan was able to have some semblance of his former self, and while still falling to the Darkside he always had the goal of strengthening the galaxy to take on the biggest threat they had ever encountered (through harnessing the power of the star forge while simultaneously keeping his distance from the space station as to not lose his mind and goals, e.g Malak) He then had his mind erased completely, woke up on a space station without a single memory at all, fought his way through the sith forces to crash on Taris, where he canonically decided to help people out purely because that is who he is, not as a Jedi but as a normal human being. He then found he was EXTREMELY force sensitive, went back to the Jedi order, absolutely smashed all the training and tests they gave him on record time. Then went on to practically liberate multiple worlds, of his own accord, before finding out who he actually was and still continuing on his quest to defeat the dark side. All of this after he beat one of the biggest threats of his generation on single combat (Mandalore) Revan is by far and easily one of the most thought out and best characters in the star wars universe. Tho' the saber to the jaw then ignite it sounds awesome as well, it's more brutal and raw, maybe not suited for cinematic presentation. It suits a horror movie more then space sword fighting. This shizz should still be marketable to every age! The slap didn't showed the impact...but we all felt that, and see the result.
@@SoaringxDragon Well, Saul Karath joined the fleet with his flagship The Leviathan (shown in the video) after Malak lost his Jaw, so I don't think he lost it because of the bombing of Telos, since Saul Karath was present for that.
This is absolutely incredible! Someone could make millions by just producing an animated tv show just like this one. I would pay $100 for a full 10, 1 hour each, episodes.
My favorite part of the whole video is Revan’s speed at igniting his lightsaber within a split second after Malik ignited his. Turned around not even paying attention to Malik and he instantly force holds him after they draw Sabers shows a tiny bit how vastly stronger Revan is to Malik. Revan needs his own movie.
Seemed like Revan actually gave Malak a chance when he shut off his saber just before he cut Malak's jaw off. Ofcourse Malak initiated combat again and Rev ended it right then and there. A horrific reminder he left him with, however, he could have just killed him but didn't. Wonder if there was still any remnants of friendship left when he did that...
Malak is stubborn and Revan messed up underestimating Malak's tenacity. There is a reason Kreia said he was remembered for his pointless violence. But that is the way of the Sith, had it not been for the jedi, Malak would have utterly destroyed him for good.
You can't dabble with dark and light. You'll get taken out being lukewarm in the dark society as Revan did. He had to turn light to save himself. I've heard in novels it even states Malak became stronger as a Sith than Revan ever was after he removes him from the picture. Same happened to Dooku. Real darksiders like Malak, Vader before his redemption, Sidious, Malgus, Exar Kun, Naga Shadow, Maul, and Lumiya dominate the game. Half hearted people don't. Think of how mob bosses and corrupt kingpins dominate. They tend to be immensely brutal. Going half in half like milky cream doesn't cut it. The ones that falter get taken out and their morality is seen as weakness in a wicked society. There is no honor with the dishonorable. No love with the cold. No mercy with the merciless. Come on now, that's an illusion
That was absolutely amazing. I love how Malak was a bit on edge when fighting Revan. He knew it would be no easy feat to defeat him. He was there through all those battles with him during the war and knew his prowess in combat.
I love how Revan isn't able to simply overpower Malak, but has to use his wits and creativity to win the duel. And Malak learns from this. Excellent work.
I love this short film, i think it can be looked at in two ways, Malak was no walkover or Revan was playing with him. But from playing the KOTOR game several time it is made very clear by Malak that he could never or would never be able to match Revan in the force or lightsaber so he resulted to blow him up insted. EDIT: Malak was no sludge with the force or lightsaber tho, not many other then Revan was his match i believe (if i remember the lore right on that point)
Revan could've killed Malak at any point as depicted in this video. He took his jaw as a symbol of silencing him. He could've easily mutilated him without ever using his blade.
@@trentstringer5144 No he couldn't. Malak is stated to be a better lightsaber duelist than Revan, so it's not like Revan didn't even try in their duel.
@@rsxmaster I'm not saying he didn't try here and That's exactly why I'm saying he could've killed him. It's not the blade that gave revan the advantage.
This is so beautifully done. I like how Revan is practically just toying with Malak. Then when he cuts his jaw off as punishment he shakes his head at him, like mocking Malak, almost saying to him “you’re pathetic “
seeing the actual struggle to keep fighting and how it takes energy out of them; also how Malak's lips still move after his jaw is removed. So damn good.
The second to last strike is an incredible bit of writing made visual. In ine move you indicate how much precision and patience revan has. He’s letting his friend know just how outclassed he actual is, and that he should stop before it goes somewhere neither of them want.

KOTOR is one of my most replayed games of all time. I've imagined this moment for years and you've made this moment finally come alive. Thank you so much for this.
@@TheEmpireAnimations IMO yes, most definitely. I've only finished KOTOR 2 only 2 to 3 times. Compare to that, I've finished KOTOR 1 over 20 times. Of course I mod (with nexus mods) both games and play KOTOR 1 & 2 on my tablet. Yet, the Devs for KOTOR 2 were rushed to release before refining the game, and it painfully shows. KOTOR 2 is an ok game , Yet, KOTOR is an absolute masterpiece.
@@TheEmpireAnimations I'm here to give you the only true answer. There is none. It's truly personal preference. I think KOTOR 2 is better because of the dialogue/story. The restored content mod really helps though, it makes the game much better and it feels more finished. KOTOR 1 is more black and white and KOTOR 2 is both and in-between. It's a more complex story imo. KOTOR 1 is like the original trilogy, it really has that same feeling. KOTOR 2 has more of a prequel vibe if you know what I mean. They are both masterpieces. Both games will make you go "wow".
Thank you. This video was a joy to watch because of the attention to detail displayed. Darth Revan was a heavy influencer on the ‘Rule of Two’ concept and the visuals of the lightsaber duel showed this so well. Revan could have easily destroyed Malak; but he didn’t…he took off Malak’s lower jaw as a display of dominance over his apprentice. Disney would do well to learn from your example in presenting the Star Wars story.
_this franchise deserves better and always better not let it go in darkness and rot_ _with that mind set u will only deserve a painfull life and death and that's why Disney payed their price of their insolence... for Malak for victory for SW Kotor...._
This is one of the best Star Wars fan films I have ever seen. Great voice acting and body acting for the characters and the lightsaber duel was fantastic. Great Job and looking forward to seeing future projects! Merry Christmas to y'all.
I’m not ashamed to say that I thought this was actual content from Lucas film. I think it was that intro that brilliantly tricked me into immersion. This is such a great piece of fan work. Thank you for spoiling us right before Xmas :)
I have to give serious props to you for animating Malak's mouth movements with the little bit of jaw he has left. It would have been perfectly understandable to have his mouth totally static, the way it was shown in the original game, but you went the extra mile, animating something you didn't need to, and it paid off very nicely.
When it comes to the old republic, Disney is dropping the ball hard!! As much as I enjoy the Madalorian, plus future projects planned, I wanna see old republic material. So much exciting potential. Thank you for posting this amazing video!! THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE DISNEY!!
I've said this a million times, you could make an entire movie off the Mandalorian Wars... just the stories Canderous Ordo tells about it would make some amazing scenes in a movie, like talking about riding Basilisk Wardroids and blowing up the generator...
I think Disney will do an old republic tevan story eventually and it will be so much better cause honestly even tho I still replay the games, the stories of both KOTORs were kinda trash. But I'm also REALLY more forward to this new High Republic game thats coming our soon. And the best part is that it's gonna be a canon story line
I've watched this quite a few times and I love how they match each others dueling styles as it should be between Padawan and Master. It's why when Obi Wan and Anakin fought on Mustafar they were using the same moves at the same time and in this Malik and Revan are crossing at the same time too!
The fact that this was all created in Unreal shows how far we’ve come in just 10 years. As more people learn the tools and Unreal creates better toolsets (see Unreal Engine 5) I’m excited about where the next 10 years takes us.
Here after the news. What a real tragedy that this is a symbol of what could’ve been; for Disney and Lucasfilm if they committed to the cause wholeheartedly, for Star Wars to re-embrace old lore and fold it back into the Canon, for Unreal Cinema and the amount of sacrifice and effort that was put into this, and for the fans who were united to see this into a reality :( . I hope you’re able to recover Scott, your work is tremendous and we recognize the painstaking amount of work and time you’ve devoted
Brilliant work. So much care, attention, and skill put into this film. Many have tried doing Revan fan videos but this really felt like the Revan and Malak of KOTOR
Amazing! This is what you call cinema quality. I was expecting Malak's artificial jaw to cover more of the wound, but this depiction of it was so visceral and unexpected, I love that. the voice acting also really captured me.
That scene with Admiral Karath and Malak is a real scene from the game. It shows Malak without his full artificial jaw, but yeah, normally his artificial jaw/collar thing does completely cover the wound. That's why it ends up being a shock in the game when you see why he wears the collar/device.
@@LAXtroop567 not really - it happens after the Leviathan mission, where admiral Karath becomes ex-admiral. Another commander is talking to Malak aboard the Star Forge. Here: th-cam.com/video/ytWCMoSqmEA/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=iFlyFlightSims
May I just say that this is incredible! The duel in particular was astoundingly beautiful, well-choreographed, and you really nailed the weapons' interaction with each other. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you put into this video!
I enjoy that they actually showed real force powers during the fight. Most lightsaber duels have small force pushes or telekinesis or force lightning. Revan was a master of all, and wouldn't hold back so it's good (and accurate) to see the first thing he does is literally force grip/squeeze Malak right out of the gates
I just love this, without question This is the embodiment of Star Wars, the details, the voice acting, everything is so amazing. I wish everyone involved would be hired, and allowed to do all of Kotor in a cinematic form like this. Would be the best thing that has happened to Star Wars in a long time, and trump so much that has come before it. For me, it would even trump that of Mandalorian or the Bad Batch. I hope you and everyone involved makes more videos like this, Star Wars Legends deserves to be remembered, and I feel you all could do that, with the respect it deserves
If Disney hires them, but retains creative control on what projects these talented people get used for, you will get a result similar to what happened when Games Workshop took some of the best Warhammer40k fan animators off the free market and had them make the painful to watch drek for their Warhammer+ streaming service. Imho, as long as nothing fundamental changes at the top of Disney, creative people are better off staying independent.
God the sheer level of detail is incredible, the fact that even though he’s missing his jaw you can see the remaining muscles on his face move as if it was still there is nuts
Amazing work! So excited to see where you take this with KOTOR Season 1! So much love, time and effort was put into this and it really shows. Well done!
As someone who just experienced both the KOTOR games for the first time recently(I know, very late to the party), this is incredible. This filled a hole for me that I desperately wanted to see in the games, how Revan disfigured Malak. Amazing work.

Underated comment, this video was SPECTACULAR I was hanging on every detail and enjoy the authenticity of this work. Well done everybody!
Can't believe you „love it”
But when Anakin got his limbs cut off that significantly reduced the ways he could use the force. The most Palpatine would’ve done to Anakin was cut off a hand and Dooku already did that, that’s why he wasn’t too upset with Dooku after Geonosis, he was still pissed though
Revan still has his jaw
Anakin’s eyes turned yellow before he lost his limbs
3:56 I love the small movements of what’s left of Malak’s mouth. You probably could have gotten away with just the throat light flashing as he spoke, but the fact that he still is using the same nerves and muscles to speak makes the wound feel much more realistic and visceral.

Here's some details I noticed:
@The Low ground noooo. Both are good duelest, but Malak was much better. He was by no means an idiot either.
@@FromTheHood I think You never heard about the Darth Bane trillogy. It's a true masterpiece written by no one else but Drew Karpyshyn.

Excuse me, I don't follow.
God. Revan is probably my favourite character in all Star Wars, so I'm hyped for this one 😎
This was absolutely perfect, I especially loved the last little exchange before Revan took Malak’s jaw. He gave him the opportunity to walk way mostly unharmed and Malak pushed his luck with a really aggressive offense, leaving him open for revan to counter and show why he was the dark lord. I also love how even though malak is clearly weaker, he’s still able to contend with Revan and proves how dangerous he would become, Revan had to fight for that victory , but once he had it, it was game over
The thing is Revan was never a powerhouse. His intellect is the most dangerous weapon he wields, and Malak is the opposite, bigger, stronger, dumber.

Love how Revan moves in this, that combined w Malak’s hesitancy really communicates the idea of Revan being a master strategist and duelist
Tbh Darth Revan was never a very good duelist. It was even stated by KOTOR's writer that Malak outclasses Revan as a lightsaber duelist.
I like how this is marketed like an actual movie
This is incredible. I love the fight choreography, textures, and voice acting, all. This feels absolutely canonical, down to the partial cybernetics shown before the full mask was built.
My only critique is that some of the movements, particularly full-body and head movements, felt a bit jumpy at times.
I’m so impressed by this and I cannot wait for more of y’all’s work.
Agreed, it didn't flow correctly, kinda jumpy, but nevertheless a very 🔥🔥 video, really freaking good

Mainly just too much movement at the shoulders. I don't blame them though. Full body animations take a lot of time.
Poor Malak. A decent sith, but forever stuck in the shadow of Revan.
I see what you did there
He was more than just decent, one of the best of his era and all time.
@@maksymilianziele28 Nah, it wasnt the force, it was the insane stockpile of stims, grenades and healing packs Revan had been hauling with him.
I love this attention to detail Unreal Cinema put in. Malak was a Form II Makashi user, so he typically dueled using his right hand only. Like Count Dooku, for example. I love it. Definitely up there as one of my favorite Star Wars cinematics.
Right hand or main hand?
@@MrSmite314 plus. Revan is holding back
Thats what I love so much about Revans story and era.

@@amaiatk7936 Revan broke free of the brainwashing but he was still corrupted by the dark. He wanted his own Empire to fight Vitiate.
Revan was toying with him for the most part, he got too cocky and had to end it sooner
@@NewbieGeek123 while there probably was a power gap between revan and malak considering they've been through near the exact same experiences and have both trained with eachother then the gap wouldn't be big enough for revan to be capable of toying with him. Malak is no slouch and is pretty comparable to the exar kun mace windu level of sith lord which easily puts him in league with revan. @@and8091 deep story
Despite Valkorian being infinitely more powerful than Revan, Revan was able to have some semblance of his former self, and while still falling to the Darkside he always had the goal of strengthening the galaxy to take on the biggest threat they had ever encountered (through harnessing the power of the star forge while simultaneously keeping his distance from the space station as to not lose his mind and goals, e.g Malak)
He then had his mind erased completely, woke up on a space station without a single memory at all, fought his way through the sith forces to crash on Taris, where he canonically decided to help people out purely because that is who he is, not as a Jedi but as a normal human being.
All of this after he beat one of the biggest threats of his generation on single combat (Mandalore)
Revan is by far and easily one of the most thought out and best characters in the star wars universe. I'd argue he is the best, but characters like Bane have an argument to be made. But Revan has for more depth and character than any character that has been in the live action films.

In this short film we saw Revan doesn't want to destroy planet for just fun or dark side's sake. He gaves them chance to surrender them peacefully which is completly against codes of the dark side.
I disagree with the last part. It is generally unwise to go around destroying planets, because it could end up fomenting dissent even amongst those that comply. There are Sith Lords that have the temperament for patience, and others who simply want to be iron-fisted.

“Everyone knows it was Malak who gave the order to bombard your planet. Revan had nothing to do with it.”
-Canderous Ordo, “KOTOR”
So cool to see this video keep in line with the canon surrounding how Malak lost his jaw, how Carth Onasi’s homeworld of Telos IV was destroyed and his family torn apart at the very beginning of the Jedi Civil War.
Not quite. Lightsaber duel went much later than Telos IV bombardment.
@@kyleslavik6324 I'm trying to make my own AU-fanfiction, where I assign three checkpoints of Jedi Civil War, which drove to this outcome:
a) Telos IV bombardment, that Darth Revan *somehow* turned to be useful. However, after that fact of unnecessary violence things become complicated (as if that wasn't enough!), so there was a strike one.
2) Messing with the Star Forge in a Battle of Rodia, that almost unveiled the truth behind Sith Empire supremacy. Guess who was stupid enough to obliterate the entire planet (again!) with main caliber *(again!!!)*? There was a strike two.
d) Malak's attempt to overthrow Revan in the duel obviously became the "last straw" when the Emperor lost his patience.
In my line of work the duel happened shortly after exhausting campaign at the Lannik system, where Republic Fleet threw Sith Army back to the Outer Rim, because even coordinated efforts of Master Tactician Revan and Great General Saul Karath was grinded to dust - thanks to Bastila's Battle Meditation. Actually, he even thinks that Bastila's Power of the Force is nothing more and nothing less but severe backlash.

Malak was no joke.

_this franchise deserves better and always better not let it go in darkness and rot_
_with that mind set u will only deserve a painfull life and death and that's why Disney payed their price of their insolence... for Malak for victory for SW Kotor...._
This is gonna be one hell of a Christmas present! Can't wait!
Only 5 and a half minutes and still miles better than the new trilogy
This is one of the best Star Wars fan films I have ever seen. Great voice acting and body acting for the characters and the lightsaber duel was fantastic. Great Job and looking forward to seeing future projects! Merry Christmas to y'all.
I’m not ashamed to say that I thought this was actual content from Lucas film. I think it was that intro that brilliantly tricked me into immersion. This is such a great piece of fan work. Thank you for spoiling us right before Xmas :)
Fantastic work. Beautifully made, well acted, and interesting. Can’t wait to see what you do with a full series to tell a longer story.
I want to see Old Republic too but I'm concerned Disney will just screw it up.
@@davem20us agreed, but they just need writers and directors that clearly love the material, and have done their research.
@@StephenOsirusCovers I don't want to burst your bubble but that High Republic game is made by David cage and those other frogs...
The tension between Revan and Malak made this so much suspenseful but it also told us about who they are! What a great fan film!
The fact the his mouth is moving (what's left) is such an amazing detail love it, an amazing insight in to the original meat-bag
3:34 the best part of the cinematic video is when his mouth is cut off by Darth Revan that did leave marks in the past
Absolutely amazing! Would love to see more from this time period, but only if it's handled with the same care you achieved. Congratulations
@@АндрейРыжаков-э5ч K cool--I haven't played the game in probably 8 years and misremembered the details. Thanks
gotta wonder if he still has to brush his teeth haha
@@ShadowStrikerz26 since his teeth were gone I don’t think he did
May I just say that this is incredible!
3:50 when this guy tells you in this way to "begin the bombartment" you will do it, your morals and convictions be damned.
Absolutely perfect ! I would trade the last trilogy for a full movie like this in a heartbeat.
Yes.Yes.Yes...YES.
I would trade the last trilogy for a half eaten dumpster pickle
I just love this, without question
This is the embodiment of Star Wars, the details, the voice acting, everything is so amazing.
Love how Revan put Malak back in line effortless
God the sheer level of detail is incredible, the fact that even though he’s missing his jaw you can see the remaining muscles on his face move as if it was still there is nuts
I so hope you guys are still working on the series, this has left me wanting so much more and I'm sad we havent heard from ya'll in months
They might be transitioning from Unreal Engine 4 to 5. Just a guess :)
The moment I saw the intro with our beloved crew, i knew this is going to be jawbreaking experience. Thank you
its truly depressing when a fanmade project has more lore and detail and solid writing that everything kathleen kennedy puts out
I remember when HK-47 was explaining how Malak lost his jaw to Revan, I would try to picture how it happened. This was great to see. Amazing job!
great work!

This is amazing, about time someone recognized the lore of KOTOR: the best RPG & game of all time.
