- I've seen many complaining about the latest episode of Overlord Season 2 today.... Lets see if its really as bad as everyone is saying. Overlord Season 2 Episode 10 was very enjoyable, but for light novel readers it could be lacking in a lot of places. Ready for Overlord Season 2 Episode 11 Review?

So far, I am anime only. Thinking of picking up the novels though.
It’s slow, that’s for sure, but it’s for good reason I assume. The whole build up to Cocytus being so honorable and a bit caring made me like his character a lot. So, I can deal with the slow beginning of season 2. Seeing these Sebas Tian stuff is interesting too. Not all of us need mindless action all the time. Haha.
Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to say that all anime only are like that, I am only referring to the annoying ones who kept saying "where's Ainz, I want Ainz" "Where's the action! fuck the world building and character development". You'll definitely love the LN and will be worth of your time to read.
I can kind of agree with the Ainz stuff, but there needs to be development for his guild. So, once again, I'm fine with it. It's actually really interesting to see his subordinates start having minds of their own, which seems to counter what Nazarick's goal. I love the fact that Sebas is taking on his creator's traits to help people who need help.
But... we got something better... Pandora's Actor pretending to be Ainz! Fucking best character ever lol. I heard he doesn't come up much in the novels. What a shame...
I'm an anime only as well. I plan on actually reading it once season 2 wraps up. Thats why i watch chibi, he fills in the gaps and let's me know irs actually going somewhere and it is still interesting without action. Its one of few animes that dont need action 24/7 and still doesn't feel dry and bland. So far so good ide say.
Just imagine this, the person that you love the most in the world has taken on the name of the person you hate the most in the world. That's what happening to Albedo right now. She loves Momonga while she hates the guild name "Ainz Oal Gown" which abandoned her and her fellow NPCs. That should explains everything.

I'm a little disappointed in myself for not noticing it was Pandora's Actor; how could I not notice my boy?! (PS I really grew to love his character even more after watching the chibi sort of OVA/spinoff thing where he turns into a little cat. XD)
I am greatly ashamed, as a loyal follower of Nazarick and supporter of Ainz x Albedo, Ainz x Shaltear, Ainz x Aura, Ainz x Neuronist, that I failed to see through PA's facade after reading the LN for the first time

Near the ending of the episode, what I noticed is that Albedo had Momonga dolls, body pillows, etc but, notice that the Nazarick flag is on the floor. Does this mean that Albedo only cares about the Momonga part of ainz and not the ainz part of Momonga or is this an upcoming betrayal?

As an anime only, I really enjoyed this episode. I just wanted a bit more.
I always thought that this episode was similar to Cocytus, whereby Ainz wants to test Nazarick's NPC (Sebas) ability to think on his own and not following orders blindly. Both Cocytus and Sebas were given specific orders that would lead to failures and Ainz would ask them how to turn their mistakes into something that can benefit Nazarick. However, the only difference between Cocytus and Sebas is that Cocytus follows the script and failed while Sebas 'failed' without Ainz's instructions, that alone is evidence that Sebas has the ability to think for himself. There is no doubt that Ainz would be delighted if Sebas straight up offer solutions to mend the problem when Tsuare was standing next to him, just like Cocytus (well Demiurge did supplement it to make the proposal sounds interesting to Nazarick). Even if Ningya is not involved, Ainz will spare Tsuare as a reward for Sebas's achievement (able to think for himself to benefit Nazarick). Remember Ainz dotes Nazarick NPCs like they are his children and would never punish them,
On Albedo, she loves Momonga (AInz did change her setting into being in love with Momonga, not Ainz Ool GOwn). She felt betrayed by the Supreme Being because she feels that Momonga was forced to take the name Ainz after they abandon (left) Momonga. Because the 40 Supreme Beings 'abandoned' Momonga and left him alone, Albedo assumes that Momonga was saddened by their abandonment. This is reflected when Momonga changed her settings where Momonga sat on the throne alone and sad because none of his guild members came. Thus ALbedo is the only NPC who feels what Momonga feels and since Momonga never addressed the issue, Albedo firmly believes that Momonga is sensitive about the issue and never spoke about it.
Sebas was never given orders that he could fail at.his order was to 'gather information in the Kingdom without attracting unwanted attention' failure on that part could possibly expose nazarick to the world

BTW, to me it was kinda obvious that it was Pandora's Actor in the LN, the line "moved his hand in an exaggerated manner like an actor" was a dead giveaway. The one I didn't catch was Lakyus Chuunibyou.

I don't think Pandora's actor can fully copy the eyes since they don't have the red in them.
Man, I really hope that we get +24 episodes for season 3. They can easily do +40 with the current material...

Listen man men this episode was Lit af. But it was rushed a lot. The overall scene with Tuare Ainds and Guardians was faithful to the LN if i remember well ma readings. The ep itself was a bit low on animation there some timpe skips but not days but few moments scene transitionned from oen to another. Over all it was a Good episode. BUT PLEASE WHAT DOES ALBEDO IS Thinking!!!!!!. And yes even if it was lit it was really weak mid ep
gives me hope that maybe the Evileye's scene will get more time ^u^
Albedo Doesn't like Ainz calling himself that, she's in love with The Man/Monster Momonga, not Ainz.
Quinton Craig It's not actually the name that she hates, but the fact that Momonga is using the guild name (Ainz Ooal Gown) that she hates so much because the other 41 supreme beings abandoned them and left momonga alone, that's why she doesn't want the name of the guild being used by Ainz because she really hates the guild thus she created a death squad (rubedo is also on the death squad) to search for supreme beings to kill them before they get into contact with Ainz.

Pandora Actor almost broke character and it was hilarious.
He is the perfect candidate though, knowing that he is Ainz's son.
Admit it, every parent would be embaraased if their children act like PA but they would never doubt of their abilities to get the job done

Hello Chibi! im a new subscriber. I just recently got into Overlord on Tuesday and have spent the last couple of days getting caught up on the show and wanted more. After founding your channel i realized this was an adaptation from a light novel and not a manga like I originally thought(found a website where they had the manga version but it only had up to episode 8 of the second season which confused me). Currently I am an anime only but i found the light novels on amazon and will start reading it all soon! i love your reviews on the show and i cant wait to get caught up.
For people wondering why albedo said that is because ainz kinda messed up. This is why i tell people this aint your normal anime. Because overlord foreshadow stuff and then later it come back to tell you.
Like the first episode of overlord, when Ainz changed Albedo function on her back story. He put"In love with Momonga." not Ainz ooal gown. People that read the LN have theories that Ainz basically saved himself from getting killed by albedo, since tabula the creator of Albedo Love Horror fics, that he implanted a backstory that albedo would kill his own creator and his guildmates.
Later on in the LN she assembles a O.P Team, that not even Lord Touch me or all of nazarick could defeat

I kinda doubt that in actual combat Albedos team could do much if their enemy knows about them. Especially if it was one of the guildmates.

Yeah but only if nobody would prepare beforehand countermeasures against them. I mean the whole point of that team is if a guildmember besides Momonga should show up that this team would launch a suprise attack and eliminate said member.
Dont forget that even they would kill said target a big chunk of Nazaricks NPCs would go riot cause loyalit towards their creator etc.
And thats only in a scenario which results in the succesfull kill of a supreme being. Now think about it if said member survives and can team up with Ainz and the loyal NPCs towards them.
Tho i wonder if at some point ,due Albedos create being a horror lover, Albedo will turn against Momonga cause of her "love"(horror influcencd backstory)

Anyways, by only seeing your reviews of ep 9 n 10, I already got pretty intrested and extremely hyped for the next episode. Also, for a guy who hasn't touched the light novel even once before, it was really intresting to get some extra insight and idea of what is going on. Overall, you made some damn good reviews for a damn good anime. Gj and subbed n all that shiz.
It was good, it's really set up for my favourite part of the series so far (only read up to volume 6 which is where season 2 might end from the look if the OP) some really! Good fights to come
what ? I'm an avid ln reader and I love this episode way more than the last 2 episode. I've accepted that the anime is going to rush thing, but at least we're in a part where the story is good. we're not stuck with the climb and brain bullshit anymore.

Man this is so good. After watching the Latest episode and watching your vids made me fully understand the story. I watch overlord because of the story and the way it is delivered, oh man its 10 time better than foodgasm, and to add your awesome explanation, clarifications anything that the anime lacks, especially the explanation of the story. Oh man nice combo, it made me to watch the anime more and demand for another season. This video really clears up my fears for albedo possibly becoming turn coat. I've only read volume three of the light novel and really wamt to get more books when I have time maybe in the next few days. I can understand Albedo's lack of respect to the other guild members if I was abanddoned by the one whp created me I'd lose respect for them as well and cherish the one who stayed.

Makes sense but i only paid attention to the spells. Ainz has almost always used gate.
Plus the way he way way over exaggerated the name of the spell and flourished his arm was like a bad actor

I’m pretty sure that flag in Albedo’s room is Momonga’s flag, the one he cut down when he changed his name. She kept it.
I've always felt that Albedo hates the Guild because she blames them for leaving Momonga. It's pretty obvious how lonely Momonga (and I'm using his original name in order to make it clear who I'm referring to each instance) is and how much he feels alone ever since the other guild members left, and Albedo seems to have an idea of this.
You can notice it in the last episode of Season 1 when all of the Guardians are talking and Momonga starts to see them as his old guildmates and as he's somewhat reaching out to his old members that he can no longer see, Albedo deliberately pulls him into the conversation, as though she noticed how he was feeling and was hoping to make him feel better.
If this sort of this is the case, then as a Yandere herself, wouldn't she despise the people who so hurt her beloved Momonga?
I enjoy the levelheadedness of your critiques.
Also when Pandora 's actor left it was quite obvious with the greater teleportation!!!

Finding out how Ains knew about Tuare is Hella sad. But i got mad respect that he says he's going to repay his debt and is going to have her under his protection. But you'd think they'd have some magic on the locks incase they get invaded. I mean yeah we would have missed out on some ass kicking, but seriously, who doesn't leave some kind of magic alarm if the mansion gets breaking in to, or leave Tuare with some bell or something for Sebas to get notified that there was an invasion.

Great episode. But knowing what was in the LN, and being able to fill the gaps with having read the LN, it was pretty amazing.

I cannot contain my excite for these next two episodes but god knows when they come to pass and all the fun is had I will be one sad boi that season 2 is ending. They can't end it here.... especially since the next few volumes are just insane.
The internal dialogue of Sebas while meeting with Ainz is great it's one of the most tension filled part of the LN, Sebas lamenting that he will be branded as a traitor, a failure on his part to serve the supreme beings a faith worst than death.
Are there after-credits scenes? Because VRV (at least, but I think Crunchyroll would be the same) cuts right at the end of the credits...
Although I know some shows have previews and stuff cut for some reason. Like all the previews from Yugioh 5D’s are cut for no reason... yet most like My Hero Academia’s aren’t cut.
MADHOUSE fucking cut off ALL PSYCHOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION when Sebas facing Ainz (All those struggle and tension) .....THAT SUCKS !!! That is where the HYPE should be.

Yandere is love
Sebas was created by Lord "Touch Me", possibly the greatest member in the guild. There was even a flashback in Season 1, showing Touch saving Ainz from getting ganked/raped at the time. What if Sebas met Ainz and TouchMe in the real world through a portal and kept it a secret from everyone else? Especially Albedo.
Will there ever be any new guild members found? Like, is Ainz ever gonna find a friend? Explain if you feel like it guys.
Where do you guys read the LN?
I think this episode was overall decent, but it has its flaws. The Sebas scene was fine, could be better, but was fine. However, I'm quite disappointed in the Princess scene with Princess Renner, her brother and the Marquis. There's really not any explanation as to why they suddenly become terrified of her, other than how she predicted their acts and affiliations. But that's not really enough to warrant the Marquis making such a fuss about Renner wanting his son as a betrothed. In the LN the conversations is longer and you can really see how they slowly become more and more terrified of Renner as the conversation gets on, and how her brother, the prince, find out her true self. Overall I think this part needed more explanation. The last part is the scene with Albedo. This one was fine, but it could be misleading for a lot of viewers, I know it was to me even though I've read the LN. Albedo doesn't think it's ridiculous to prepare an army from Nazarick to save the girl who Ainz swore protection to. She's actually mad at the ones who try to sully his name or go against her master's plan. But what she found ridiculous, like Chibi said, was how he used the Guild's name as his own. One of her deepest wishes is actually for her to be allowed to call him Momonga instead of Ainz, as she's loyal to and loves Momonga, not the guild. Of course she likes the inhabitants of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, but she's lost her respect for the other 40 Supreme Beings for "abandoning" them. Sorry if it got slightly into spoiler territory, but I these are my thoughts on this episode. Overall the episode was decent, but it had certain flaws I didn't like.

Since Albedo despises the other Supreme Beings to the point of preparing a death squad for them full of strong servants in case they return/reappear in Nazarick. Does this make her a Yandere? She did lie about the true intent purpose for the death squad right? So is it possible to assume she would be a typical Yandere if she had complete free will? Or is she merely behaving like this because she was programmed to love Mormonga? Is it safe to say she would be quite indifferent to Ains if she were not programmed to love him like the other female (or male) servants of Nazarick?

Episodes like these are why non-book readers and book reader separate threads can be helpful especially to the non-book readers. The separate thread thing though is normally only done for things like Game of Thrones and big TV shows as there are way more people posting. I did enjoy the old Adult Swim boards before they deleted them and lost a viewer, those boards had hater threads so you could avoid the trolls. I did not read the book so I loved the episode and I think I got a lot of what book readers think was missed through the body acting. But the reason for separate discussions is there are things that just are better in book form and things that are better in anime form and this is probably one of those times that book is better if you had read it. The producers had decided to only have Ainz have internal monologs and to get closer to book they would have to have most of the characters in these scenes have internal monologs. And if you go for monologs many anime-only will bash the show for telling not showing.
I like book readers am disappointed that the season restrictions mean you almost always have to cut things or add filler. But I don't know if anime could really do justice to what book lovers liked about this episode. Last weeks raid showing more of Sebas's actions would have been great but I love the Climb scene and understand why they kept the battle that was in doubt instead of the easy killings.
to be honest the chimera\sheep thing totally went over my head, i read summaries of the light novels on wikia (thinking of reading the actual light novels soon) and read the manga and watch the anime, but I never understood that they were using humans for making scrolls, I honestly thought that they were actually harvesting some random animals.. wow, the more you learn, glad I watch these videos.
What is love? Love is a myriad of emotions that manifest as varying reactions depending on the subject and their stimulus.
Love is not however, restricting the subject of your love, it's about making them better as people, not making them yours.
Chibi Reviews what are Albedos full combat capabilities? I know she has been made out to be the strongest servant/Guardian of Nazarick, serving under Mormonga. But just how strong is she? What makes her so special above the rest of the other servants?
I don't think season 1 showed her full capabilities since Ains was holding her back constantly. She has not been in combat since. She's basically gone from the supposedly strongest warrior in Nazarick serving under Ains, to a glorified housemistress. I just wanna see her go all out in a fight. I love her armour and weapon design. Her indifference and utter disdain for all things human or everything that isn't Mormonga I find to be a rather cute trait of her's. I wish she was forced to play nice with humans or to interact with Pandora's Actor like in season one again. That was comedy gold.

their role as a guardian is pretty rounded?
1st Shalltear Bloodfallen - The Strongest floor guardian, with the best Battle capability besides enhanced physical stats (but in raw stats Albedo stills wins)
2nd Mare Bello Fiore - His might area Magic granted him the 2nd place
3rd Cocytus - The True Warrior, Second to none.

I highly dislike how they decided to depict Renner in that scene. In the novel, when she stopped acting, she didn't smile like that, she instead had a normal smile and the attention was given more so to her eyes, feeling so empty of emotions that it was almost like an abyss.
The anime staff decided to just make Renner into a normal yandere the same way they did with Albedo. I don't get the smile thing. That also wasn't the case for Albedo in the novels, but it did fit her character a bit. For Renner, it doesn't.
And then the Raeven's reaction was also contrary to how he was depicted in the novels. Raeven was disturbed, not excited, and the only time he overreacted in the entire scene was when Renner suggested to wed her to his son. Raeven was calm(though disturbed) in the rest of the scene.
13 episodes?...it feels like nothing has happened.
I thought this episode was good(though I have only read the manga and not the novel, so I suppose my opinion does not matter much), it had the build up for a great climax with it them showing that both Nazarick and Renner was gonna attack Eight Fingers at the same time, not to mention showing us that Gazef would be part of that battle just added to the exitment I have for the next episode in which there is likely gonna be a clash between 3 factions(can you imagine it all, an all out battle between 3 powerful factions in the capital! That is a recipe for great battles and lots of drama)

I didn't see anything at the end of this episode that clarifies Pandora's Actor having acted as Ainz, what is it you're referring to?
Also from the way Ainz speaks to Sebas in the English dub and the how he messes up saying asking Sebas if he is loyal to himself / the 41 and the flourish with Greater Teleportation makes it obvious something is up, though I had no idea Pandora's Actor was involved.. So the question is why was he? Maybe Ainz is testing him to stand in for him if the need ever arises?
i actually found this episode enjoyable, yes rushed but there is a lot of information that was shown. about the talk between the princess and the other two i found it to be something that could happen in that way since it was a noble that shouting in front of two royal people so of course he would cool his head before he does anything else he would regret since whatever he does could get himself in trouble with the Kingdom, though yes the conversation was still rushed a lot more but still got most of the important info in the sped up conversation. Also the princess is in love with Climb for some of the right reasons but it is obsession levels that is the problem, she found someone that didn't see her as a monster, saw someone that liked her back almost as much as her, it is straight yandere levels and the keep him chained up is the obsession levels of "All to myself" that most people don't want to see or hear about.

I havent read the LN and im anime only but for those who are wondering who kidnapped Taure, watch the end of last episode after the ending credits finish. Im not sure if the people there are the kidnappers but they are important.
no i dont think the ainz scene was made more obvious in the anime than in the ln. it was more that something MIGHT be off, or at least you subconsciously know that something doesn't sit well, but you don't know what.
it was more obvious in the ln because i remember there was a passage where sebas was specifically wondering why ainz asked to see tsuare as if he has never met her before (even though to sebas, it would be his second time meeting her). even if you miss every other clue, just reading that passage itself would plant a thought in your head and start making you wonder because there wouldn't be a reason for that to be there without a specific meaning. in the anime, that scene was simply sebas replying that he will bring her over while being slightly confused/startled, but you can interpret that in any other way or you would need to really pay attention to the small details of the first and second ainz scene to understand that immediately.
obviously, once you understand the scene, every small detail would make sense to you, so the second medium, which in this case would be the anime, would be much more obvious to you just because you already understand the logic and reasoning behind all actions
To be expected that almost every light novel reader (I am a LN reader) is going to be disappointed because of the adaptation not being as perfect on every detail in the novels. Firstly, the series is 13 episodes so yeah they are going to rush things so not everything will be able to get explained right but mostly in pieces. Secondly, I myself am actually really enjoying this series and I'm not going to have a seizure about every thing not being 100% exact from the novels. Just be glad there is a season 2 to watch since it might not even get a s3 so just enjoy what we can get from this series.

It isnt weird what Raven did. After freaking out he immediately realized that he is talking with the princess here. After seeing her true self he forgot that for a moment. Its just good writing and shows how terrifying she was.

What? The anime was made less intense than the light novel? By Madhouse Studios? The studio that made some of the most chilling psychological shows ever like Monster? How did that happen? ^_^
The thing is... if they had put all of that very interesting mental conflict and mental struggles of Sebas in the episode, it probably wouldn't have transitioned mediums as well as it did. I haven't read the LN, but I trust that all the things discussed in this video are true, but very long written scenes with high degree of complexity like what this part of the LN seems to be, tend to work better when read, not watched in live action or animated format.
It would very likely be considered drawn out and boring by a lot of people when animated, but brilliant when read, so the anime adaptation makes sense for an animated format of that part of the LN.
