I'm cool with it. Don't really get the complaints; Ains is cool but it can't just be all him all the time. And it's not like any bad or BS thing happened.
Well... I liked the second episode, finding out more about how they combat against "the supreme one" and the lizardmen who take action interests me. Also the the albino looks like a gecko
i totally agree with the "if you dont like the pov change, then drop it." cuz the pov change is actually one of the best aspect of Overlord. It bring so much to the world building, and the progression of the amazing cast of character in the story. thank you Chibi, this line totally speaks my heart.
I am glad to see there are people who agree with me that this is one of the greatest strengths of Overlord. The world building is honestly my favorite part, and the shifts in perspective are what really help give the much needed context & development for characters and the world around them. Can't wait for men in the kingdom arc though because I need to watch (X character so as not to spoil for potential readers) be a total bad-ass & making me feel emotion all over again!
I agree with this, I have read the light novel and a lot of the volumes focus on other characters other than Ainz, he does get more screentime than others but not your typical LN where every volume is in our MC point of view
the pov change is stupid, why do we see other people than ainz when this is his story like a in a literal sense with him being the sole person who isn't a game npc and an actual irl character. also yeah i do know ainz will raise them to undeads later it's obvious.
Well, to each his own i guess, I think it helps on the world building. But I disagree on this story just being Ainz's story, the main focus is on Ainz, but the guardians and all in nazarick also play a huge role in this story, they grow alongside Ainz, well Ainz becomes less and less human in his thoughts of human life, but I believe the denizens of nazarick are a big part as well and not just Ainz. Also, I don't want to spoil a lot about the light novels regarding this and future arcs, but I do agree that some of the parts in the lizardmen arc are unnecessary.
i don't know about anyone else but it seemed extremely obvious that he was doing a mating call. i would be very surprised if there are people out there dense enough to not realize this.
Plenty of people do. It's just there's an outspoken group that really doesn't like when the story leaves the view of people outside Nazarick. Oh boy those people who don't like different perspectives are gonna be pissed this season XD.
I mean Ainz doesn't go away, we still will get to see a bunch of events from his perspective. It just won't be like it used to be with like 80% Ainz. It'll be more like 40-10% Ainz perspective at some times.
Keeping with the Manga, the Lizardmen War is outright great, wait in there everyone, once the war reaches it's finale, we'll get an EPIC scene with Ainz that'll be worth the wait.
Jaldabaoth will show uppp weeee!!! ... also this arc is character development for the guardians so they will learn to think for themselves instead of blindly following orders
If your debating dropping the series at this point, as a fellow light novel reader I would like to point out that after this arc, every other time the point of view changes, the presence of the MC is still there. If you still can’t handle when the point of view isn’t from the MC even if he has a very large presence when not on screen, then I also recommend you to drop the series because it won’t be for you.
>lizard dude sees chick >guy makes high pitched, unmanly squeaking sounds >girl looks shocked >embarrassed behaviour from both lizard. What could it mean HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
FUN FACT: that spell they used was not the level 4 spell, control clouds. It was control weather (I believe a lvl 8 spell but correct me if I'm wrong). They are assuming it's the lower lvl version because the one they used was believed to be a myth. I am only mentioning it because it is unlikely they will go over that detail in the coming episodes with all they need to cover.
I dont think corrupted is the right word for princess renner considering how she is presented in the light novels. In case you want to know how she presents her self is put nicely with one word. **SPOILER** - - - - - *PSYCHOPATH* She doesnt posses real emotion is calculative and has badly warped sense regarding of what love is.
Spexs FT Her brother never said she was corrupt, he said she was a "monster" there is a big difference. Only her brother has some sort of idea what she truly is, some thinks she is weird but that is only because of that "hint" my spoiler warning lines above will clear that up. :)
junk mail Trust me, in 1 or 2 episodes you'll get your lizard porn from the anime itself xd. Unless of course they decide to leave it out but its funny so they'll probably keep it. Also get hype for the Shall-chair.
Christian Cahigas I'm not a big fan of spoilers but in this specific case I think it's a good thing to warn people about just in case. FDrybob _ If that's true then Maruyama is a saint.
The ending song were it showed the princess normally then as if she was demented before going back to her normal look, what's up with that? When she looked crazy the guard behind her was blacked out so does that mean he died then she became crazy, is she pretending to be a good girl or split personality without anyone knowing about it including the guard.
Just wait ;3. It's part of the fun of her story, and she & her guard will be playing a central role in the next arc. *(If you really need to know now though I can tell you, but it kinda spoils the fun of seeing how she interacts with people & what she's doing).
Shiratoshi Her innocent persona is just a farce and she will sell everyone she knows to be a being in the employ of nazarick, seeking to also keep that knight as her pet sex slave
First time that I watch a review for an anime. Great video, the content and explanation you give to us non-readers is clear and not over-detailed/spoiling anything. The video length is good, personally I find more than 20 minutes too much (I can watch another anime episode in that amount of time) so keep it that way. You just gained a subscriber. I'll be waiting for the next episode's review !
Plus Chibi and all LN readers know that there'll be a lot of point of view changes throughout the series. This is done to expand the world and show us how the world and people work apart from Ainz. Hahaha i love volume 4 cuz it shows a fragment of Ainz true powers as a ruler. Anime watchers look forward to it.
I actually loved this episode monster races are interesting ASF. I just hope the tomb of Nazerick members get more shine who didn't in season 1 like Cocytus, that and I'll only complain with this series if there aren't at least 20 to 24 episodes if we get that 12 or 13 episode bullshit I'll rant because this is platinum content imo.
It's looking like we'll get 13 episodes again according to what's being said online/shown on episode count according to blu-rays/dvds bleh. Though to make up for that let me give you some good news with as little spoiling as possible: Cocytus, Demiurge, & Sebas are gonna get some SWEET time to shine. Like they're gonna be a good ~70% of Nazarick's screen time, so lots of development for them. Sebas will become many people's favorite character btw because the Men in the Kingdom arc is what made me love him ;3.
I'm an anime only and I'm really liking this change in perspective. Also, I thought the mating call was pretty obvious though I see how some people may not catch that at first
I personally love episode 2. Why? Because it was accurate to the manga and the light novel. I'm a light novel reader and that's why I loved the epiaode, also I laughed a couple of times.
Yea i kinda thought it was a matting call. But was not sure.. still havent gotten there in the light novel.. i also wondered why there was only 5 clan leaders.. when they said it was 7 clans, thanks for clarifying it
This is probably a good idea considering waiting week to week might leave some people dissatisfied feeling they haven't gotten the dose of action (should be 1-2 episodes before the next big boom of the story). I'm doing the same thing with Magus's Bride since I already read the manga and just kinda wanna watch it all in one go.
I loved Vol 4, don't want to spoil things for those who don't know. Though I wonder if we'll now get memes about Zaryusu's love proposal being faster than any romance series.
Christian Cahigas for some websites there are not that many volumes for butt the website I can give you a link to the website that I read and it go up to volume 32 or 33 is the newest volume.
I wish I could have been the one to say this because you are 100% right. That's one of the big problems with the anime Community right now. Too many people think that if a series is not 90% action, then it's not worth watching. They don't have any idea what good storytelling or world-building is because they are so obsessed with watching fight scenes.
Because some people prefer the climaxes/focusing solely on Nazarick. I prefer the world building & different perspectives because they help establish that there's more to this world that should be focused on than just Nazarick. This is probably one of the weaker arcs, but it's nowhere near as bad as some people would have you believe. I personally enjoy it & my favorite arcs come immediately after this!
Gregory McDonald because some noisy people are too spoiled and unrealistic expecting climax scenes like shalltear vs ainz stuff on nearly every episode in season 2.
Why didnt ainz heal or bring back the group swords of darkness that got turned into zombies or heal ninya that got beat up by clemintine? also what happend after episode 9 ended when they rescued nfira all we saw was ainz carrying him out of the cemetery and episode 10 was a different story about shalltear why didnt they show episode 10 being the result of what happend with nfiar and the swords of darkness or does the manga show him reviving the swords of darkness or healing ninya she was part of that group?
As an anime-only .. I liked this shift. Ainz is great and all, but this is world-building, which is also very important. There have always been shifts in focus, just this one is the first time it goes on for a long time, and to a character outside of Nazarick. I like the Lizardmen though, the parts which happen later in the arc made me cry up and I kept asking for them to be shown again later in the 2nd season. S3 is pulling back some of the older stuff though!
I’m assuming the anime will be 24 episodes considering that we’ll cover 3 arcs (which i assuming from watching the ending song) at least and the somewhat slow pace. I hope so at least.
I could definitely tell with the lizard men. When I heard him say MARRY ME! to the albino lizard I started laughing my butt off. THE LIZARDMEN WERE MY FAVORITE. FAVORITE EPISODE SO FAR!!!!!
chibi if this season will be a 12-13 ep? its safe to say that the invader and destroyer arc wont' be included right? to all anime guys dont drop season 3 then right?
I can say with 100 % i have no complain with this Arc because i love the scenes with the Lizardmen, especially what i saw in this episode when that Lizard boy meets that Albino lizard girl which was cute and funny, so when the episode was over, i was like: NO ALREADY?! GIMME MORE
I just want to stress for ppl upset about the perspective thing: Chibi isn't exaggerating when he says there's a lot of it and you may be disappointed. W/ this season only being 13eps or w/e, even if they do 3 books like last season (which was still only achieved thru cutting content), there *still* won't be much Ainz. Seriously. If they follow the books closely he prob won't even feel like the protagonist. It's always possible they'll restructure things, but if your hype for s2 comes from expectations of Ainz wandering around nuking armies you're going to be sorely disappointed.
I don't get why lizard people are always enemies in fantasy games and shows, why are they always evil, I would like to see an anime where there is a human that is in a task force-like medieval cavalry that is ordered by the king of the land to kill lizardmen tribes, on one of his missions to kill a tribe, he gets knocked out, he wakes up in a prison, someone opens the gate and some lizardmen bring him to the elder, the elder decides to let him live only if he would live the way they do, after many years of staying in the tribe, he learns that lizardmen aren't all that bad and pulls a planet of the apes style rebellion and raises an army, frees all lizardmen slaves in the king's provinces, and earned great respect of all tribes, and after that peace is achieved the main human character dies in respect at the end of the series.
Is that something a lot of people are interested in, because I can provide a couple things they skimped out on at least for this episode. Basically the scene with Crush & Zaryusu was a bit more detailed & slower paced, Zaryusu explains he'd had some experience against the type of creature Nazarick had sent to deliver the message if I recall correctly, & there might have been just some more development concerning lizardmen culture/society, but I may just be remembering an earlier/different part for the last point. I think it would be cool if he felt like doing that too though in the videos.
Its funny. Im an anime only. But I really enjoy the new perspective and world building. I have this feeling that this arc will end up being really good.
My problem with the Lizardmen is that looks like there's no way they can be a threath or a useful ally to Ainz. So what's the point in focusing on them?
I will just add this in that they will provide a use to help Nazarick, and be an important first step to how Nazarick impacts & starts to change the world from that point forward. Just to alleviate your understandable concern.
It really help develop Ainz's character even more. Lizard man arc is one of the most evil thing Ainz have done so far. Overlord is not just like one punch man. The lizard man in this arc is clearly righteous while Ainz is evil. In the novel they like to go deep into character thought, even if you don't like them you still feel the humiliation and horror. When they face Ainz. Overlord overall is a story about strong devour the weak. This is one the best example so far.
Luiz Felipe this is also the start of Ainz plan to make the Guardians more capable in battle. I dont know how much detail they will go into in the anime, but in the novel it is stated that while they are very powerfull, the guardians still battle as a boss npc: rush in and spam powerfull attacks. Which can lead to a disaster, as this was what caused Shaltears brainwashing
yes it was a mating call but to be honest i dont think they need to reed the light noble or manga to figure it out... just have mid insight to bioscience and had watched some discovery ch....
Honestly I caught on to the whole mating call and I'm an anime only. Although I was confused at first, I just figured from Lulu's reaction that that was what had happened.
As an anime only, it was pretty clear that was a mating call. I actually appreciate that they respect my intelligence enough to not spell everything out with needless exposition.
Of course they're gonna complain XD. I'm pretty sure there was some complaining in the first season, & I know for a fact there were people complaining even in for the light novels (though obviously not as much as anime onlys who are gonna be watching weekly because they won't have the ending of the arc to tie everything together and satisfy them until it airs). I already read all but the latest novel, & I'm more than accustomed to the changes in perspective. Hell the changes in perspective & the world building are what made me fall in LOVE with the series. This will be weird for many of the anime only folks, but this is an important thing to realize. This world is BIGGER than Nazarick. There are more people who are important to the narrative than just the denizens of Nazarick, and they get a lot of focus because they will have bearing on the world just like Nazarick will (to a lesser extent however). Nazarick's guardians do still have a place & are extremely important, but there will be times where large portions of the story will be seen through the eyes of another group/select people of the region. I'd say they're doing a good job so far since nothing of super relevance was left out (stares at the scene left out from volume 1 indicating the surprise of the guardians when Ainz sent Sebas out on essentially a recon mission which lets the reader/audience know that Sebas is a NPC roughly equivalent in terms of power to the floor guardians). I genuinely like the Lizardmen arc as well because of some reasons I can't entirely go on about yet, but I genuinely had fun with it. I'm pretty sure you said Cocytus right (or at least close enough that people can't hang you for it).
^_^ agreed. I need my daily dose of (x character who's going to wreck people's shit but I don't wanna spoil but I love him and this part of the series will be what cements him as my favorite character).
Next episode is gonna have lizard action....just not the kind we are looking forward too ;^p When Entoma was speaking her lips were not moving, you think they forgot to animate them ?....(lol)
Yo chibi just wanted to remind you, at the end of season one Ainz says he wants to raise the defense of Nazarick with an undead army and Albedo tells him about the Lizardmen since humans can only make up to level 40 undead, lol I don’t want to say anymore than that because it would spoil it. Now about the Lizardmen arch I loved it and for those of you that don’t, trust me the payoff is amazing! Don’t drop it the story gets sooo good from here on.
Does anyone else get the feeling like this is a setup? Where, even if the lizardmen fight, they are still going to lose because with every member of the party that dies the litch will just revive them? So maybe the entire joke is to have them fight so even if they did win those who die will return to life and kill the rest?
The mating call didn't need subtitles. Only a child who has never heard of a mating call would be confused, and even then it's still obvious. I really enjoyed the Lizardmen arc, and I'm saying all of this as an Anime Only viewer, so far.
So Anime Onlys.... Thoughts on the Lizardmen?
chibi do you know where i can read/buy the overlord volumes that pass volume 6? amazon only has up to 6
Chibi Reviews sure took u a while chibi
I'm cool with it. Don't really get the complaints; Ains is cool but it can't just be all him all the time. And it's not like any bad or BS thing happened.
Well... I liked the second episode, finding out more about how they combat against "the supreme one" and the lizardmen who take action interests me.
Also the the albino looks like a gecko
Mozie here is a link goes all the way to volume 12 www.novelupdates.com/series/overlord/
That marriage proposal was smooth af.
Douglas R lol yea
😂 True
A lot better than how someone could propose In reality.
Zaryusu is just like any other man of culture...
He, too, has found his dragon which he wishes to lewd.
Lewd dragons for the win
He's cultured
I agree but that is not a dragon... I think
Radioactive Thing She has the dragon blood in her.
i totally agree with the "if you dont like the pov change, then drop it." cuz the pov change is actually one of the best aspect of Overlord.

Scartio Antolare Everyone realized this, idk why Chibi assumed otherwise. It was very obvious.
I thought he just got horny and let it show automatically by accident...
Pretty much.
+Shadow Priest, just go to some comments on /r/anime or kissanime. Someone's definitely wondering what happenned.
Meh no ty, most of those comments are"where is my bone man" anyway.
is it just me who likes the perspective point? im anime only btw

Oh boy you will, i love the lizardmen arc and what happen afterwards, no spoilers but it involves Shebas
That lizard man didnt waste time with the albino lizard XD
Abner Alarcon as that one guy who was brought to court for cheating said on that one judge show-- "if it ain't snowing, I ain't going."
KaiserTheDemon well put XD
Like people in reality
The Sound Zaryusu made when he first met The Chief😂😂😂😂
Keeping with the Manga, the Lizardmen War is outright great, wait in there everyone, once the war reaches it's finale, we'll get an EPIC scene with Ainz that'll be worth the wait.
that part with the albino lizard was the best awkward moment I have ever seen
and he played it cool when he proposed to her. Zaryusu was better that most anime mc
Jaldabaoth will show uppp weeee!!! ... also this arc is character development for the guardians so they will learn to think for themselves instead of blindly following orders
I'm excited for that
yup
Chibi Reviews wonder what problems it'll cause lol
Ahahahahaha, calm down with the spoilers guys anime onlys will get mad lol. But I’m with ya that “splat” tho lol.

Lowdian it doesn't out right say it but they do heavily imply that Mare was the caster.
Japanese dub: coh-kyo-tus
English dub: coh-kai-tus
I'm personally fine with whichever.
people won't be complaining if they were cat people
ppl wudnt be complaining if another isekai mc suddenly appeared before them and clash with ainz in a battle of cheats
I'm not complaining. I like how the series is focusing on a different cast of characters while also showing us some characters from the main cast.
Who else like the emotion in the lizards tails
I can’t wait when they Introduce Jaldabaoth!....
I like how the ending show Evileye and the corrupted side of Princess Renner.

XD No I meant 70% out of the denizens of Nazarick alone not counting outside perspectives. Climb's like 40% minimum next arc :P XD.
Christian Cahigas Yeah, but Climb is the bitch beta caracter. To make our alpha badass Nazarick guys look better, in contrast.
Alex Sønderjylland But we didn't need confirmation that Sebas or Ainz or Lupus aren't badass

awesome world building and great plot setup
I dont mind me tbh, I like this series as Overlord in general and I like long game plans
Im not here JUST for Ainz. I like world building
I'm not 12
Haven't read Volume 12 yet, but Chibi did you hear Volume 13 might be coming out soon?
Caped Baldy I wonder when
I hope soon so I can binge read them both.

They don't have any idea what good storytelling or world-building is because they are so obsessed with watching fight scenes.
I actually like this arc, don't know why it gets so much hate
Because some people prefer the climaxes/focusing solely on Nazarick. I prefer the world building & different perspectives because they help establish that there's more to this world that should be focused on than just Nazarick. This is probably one of the weaker arcs, but it's nowhere near as bad as some people would have you believe. I personally enjoy it & my favorite arcs come immediately after this!
Gregory McDonald because some noisy people are too spoiled and unrealistic expecting climax scenes like shalltear vs ainz stuff on nearly every episode in season 2.
Im really excited to see the Sebas arc, its the start of all of characters starting to interact with each other instead of being total strangers
This episode reminds me of leafy
FAVORITE EPISODE SO FAR!!!!!
was the screaming doom sayer cloud the hamster? i seem to remember threats of doom the first time they found him
chibi if this season will be a 12-13 ep? its safe to say that the invader and destroyer arc wont' be included right? to all anime guys dont drop season 3 then right?
Probably not unfortunately. However we get Men in the Kingdom so that's MORE than enough to satisfy me imo XD.
I can say with 100 % i have no complain with this Arc because i love the scenes with the Lizardmen, especially what i saw in this episode when that Lizard boy meets that Albino lizard girl which was cute and funny, so when the episode was over, i was like:
NO ALREADY?! GIMME MORE
love the moment when the traveler first meet her XD
who scream better Mikiko (miko) or Traveler?
I just want to stress for ppl upset about the perspective thing:
Chibi isn't exaggerating when he says there's a lot of it and you may be disappointed.
Just got an ad that said “25$ can cure blindness” or summin and I still can’t have headphones that don’t break in a week
does anybody know where i can read/buy the overlord volumes that pass volume 6? amazon only has up to 6
The official English release is only up to the 6th vol. Look up skythewood for up to vol 9
www.novelupdates.com/series/overlord/
ah ok thanks !
ty!
this is for anyone wants up to vol 34th if you are interested reading that far. www.mangareader.net/overlord
Fernando Carballido Lizardman are not bad guys in Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
The Lizardmen in Overlord aren't evil either
Agreed.
they are not always evil. It's just that we humans tend to be assholes about anything that doesn't resemble what we think is normal.
When you do the overlord reviews, can you put a little part at the end about what they have left out from the novels?
Is that something a lot of people are interested in, because I can provide a couple things they skimped out on at least for this episode. Basically the scene with Crush & Zaryusu was a bit more detailed & slower paced, Zaryusu explains he'd had some experience against the type of creature Nazarick had sent to deliver the message if I recall correctly, & there might have been just some more development concerning lizardmen culture/society, but I may just be remembering an earlier/different part for the last point. I think it would be cool if he felt like doing that too though in the videos.
This episode actually increased my expectations for this series, can’t wait for next one.
yeah I mean the story is way much deeper than first season
Its funny. Im an anime only. But I really enjoy the new perspective and world building. I have this feeling that this arc will end up being really good.
How many episodes is Overlord season 2 gonna have??
13
FDrybob _ fr?!😢
The Official Yes. Hopefully it will be successful enough that we get a third season.
What the high tier magic can ainz use
yes it was a mating call but to be honest i dont think they need to reed the light noble or manga to figure it out... just have mid insight to bioscience and had watched some discovery ch....
The op is great
haru tatsume that ending too, like a silver gem in the middle of Hell
KaiserTheDemon your right about that
Lol, if people hate this arc, they'll hate the future arc even more.
Is it going to be in eng dub
Catch up to kingdom. Nuff said
^_^ agreed. I need my daily dose of (x character who's going to wreck people's shit but I don't wanna spoil but I love him and this part of the series will be what cements him as my favorite character).
I loved the lizardmen volume to me it was an epic like the Iliad & the odyssey.
Next episode is gonna have lizard action....just not the kind we are looking forward too ;^p
When Entoma was speaking her lips were not moving, you think they forgot to animate them ?....(lol)
Why are people hating I love this set up episode. The best stories are the ones with both sides. Love the traveler with the red eye chief
The lizardman wanted some of the Lizardwoman pun-pun
Hint to future episode without spoiling: CHAIR!
Why don’t you review Black Clover anymore
Usopp The Sniper
Because he dropped it.
it was to slow and to much filler i droped it around end of episode 10 but im up to date with the manga though
because it's SHEET
YOUR FAVORITE ANIME IS SHIT!!!!!
In all seriousness he probably doesn't like it.
Anime Only Fans please be patient, Episode 6 is probably the episode your waiting for.
everyone hates climb
Can't wait for big battle and maybe men in the kingdom
Lizardmen are quite fascinating imo
That ending song thooooo
Holy crap that was some huge spoilers
#Lizardlivesmatter
idonotmakevidsyet #NazarickBrutality
damn right #lizardlivesmatter
Damn straight
I'm all about the Lizardmen! I hope they come back later!
The penguin would be a great Wingman!
He's a top tier cleaner
The new ending is amazing
Chibi Weather Reviews coming soon?
The Lizardmen Arc was fine for me, the shift in focus was really sudden though and I think that bothered a LOT of people.
Okay I haven't read the light novels but I thought it was like obvious that was a mating call.
I really enjoyed the Lizardmen arc, and I'm saying all of this as an Anime Only viewer, so far.
i found it a bit jarring in the change of perspective but i do like this arc and i'm a little saddened that they don't get as much focus after this.
I figured that screech was a mating call
idk about others but i'm loving the lizardmen
i wish it was its own anime tbh
Anime only opinion: I enjoyed this episode and can't wait for what come next.
Waiting for shaltear throne.
The lizard men are cool, too bad they're gonna get wrecked by Nazarick. I really hope they turn out fine in the end.
EPISODE 2 is out?! Holy shit. Im late
Is Gilgamesh turn to a Penguin?
btw lizardman are like the orcs of skyrim when it comes to tribe politics in leaving
i wish to the arc where momon to fight with demiurge disguise jalb
Most likely that will be the last-next to last episode of the season.
The episode was fantastic
I'm not gonna lie I don't give two shits about the lizardmen
you don't have to. this arc is good because it has a lot of combat. that's why you should really wait for ep 3
I have a feeling we're going to focus on other characters of Overlord Season 2 than just Ainz.
