I bought the automatic and I absolutely love it. I previously drove a manual for 8 years in daily stop-n-go traffic and I will never do that again. So, paying the additional $2K for the Auto was worth every penny. This is an AWD rally car on the weekends and a stop-n-go traffic dream car during the week.
I’m looking for an auto as well. I have had Fiesta ST, Focus ST, and I have Focus RS now, and I loved them all but after trying my brother’s new Mazda 3 Turbo the other day, I realized I would like try an auto again.
That is AWESOME! Personally, I can’t do the auto. What has been ridiculous is almost all of the first wave of these to hit the dealerships, are the autos. I am definitely buying the 2025 now. I was looking at the 2024, but the 2025 look so much tougher in the front and all the upgrades to the previous years sold me. How much did you get it for….the markups have finally started to go away too. Some are even getting $2k-$4k off on these and last years model….. BTW, which model did you get?
@@SaltStorm007 I bought the Core edition for a drive-out price of $46K. However, I did have to haggle and talk with 3 different dealerships because they wanted 5K over MSRP.
@@SaltStorm007 I walked into a dealership here in SE WI while waiting for oil change to be done on my 2024 Corolla Hatchback and they had a GR in the showroom. I drove it home 8 days later. It's a manual and I love it!
Solid video. The auto is faster on track vs manual by 1 sec or slightly more. GR professional drivers actually left in full auto mode on track as couldn't beat it manually shifting auto. Tons of development work by Gazoo to make auto as good as DCT. Not saying better then manual though but great to have options.
I can think of a reason why someone would want an automatic, I only use one arm and have some permanent issues with my right leg from a stroke I had when three years old, I can drive an automatic though. So for me I am glad that cars come in automatic! Personally can't stand when I see a new car coming out that looks amazing, then I hear it only comes in manual. Kudos on the great detail on the design language on this car.I think the auto makes perfect sense to me if you're cross shopping this car with the Golf R.
once you get over rowing gears constantly, especially in traffic for years and years you start to question what is the purpose of your car. For everyday driving you cannot beat an automatic, including cruise and radar which is problematic in a manual. Secondly if you want to track the car the auto will be more than capable. If you are interested in a purpose built track car then you get something else. GR Corolla is far from perfect in that regard (who are you trying to beat anyway). I think when you really sit down and consider your options the car should be fast, automatic for dealing with stop/start traffic and be good on fuel. Automatic GR corolla ticks all those boxes.
If that’s the case. Just get a model 3 performance with FsD. Cannot beat it. FsD is leagues ahead of any car. Fast. Awd. And can drive for you if you don’t feel like driving. Btw, fsd is not auto cruise. FSD can drive in the city, side streets, anywhere. Door to door.
It is no different than an automatic once driving a manual becomes second nature. People just don’t want to learn because they think it’s so hard, but manuals are easier to drive now than ever before.
@@BlueSkyCrystalsthey can also get an iMT auto on switch which makes it so you never have to rev match. This car is so easy to drive, there is no point in getting an automatic.
